– Toby Weathersby: One-time OU offensive line target, Toby Weathersby, decommitted from Texas yesterday. We reached out to Toby after the news of his decommitment broke and while he did say he’s considering schools like LSU and Ole Miss, he said that isn’t necessarily all. He hasn’t definitively decided on which schools he’s going to look at yet.
When asked specifically about whether he was considering the Sooners, he said he isn’t sure just yet. And while Weathersby is a very talented prospect, it isn’t certain the Sooners would even make a heavy push at this point. Bill Bedenbaugh isn’t hurting for offensive linemen at the moment, although things could change some what depending on what happens with Martinas Rankin who is expected to announce this week.
– Ricky DeBerry: Wanted to offer a quick follow-up note on DeBerry. Spoke to an Alabama insider about him and was told that Bama has someone higher on their board. We aren’t sure if that means the Tide wouldn’t take DeBerry, but it may give OU a bit of an advantage.
– Neville Gallimore: Had an interesting conversation recently with someone very close to Gallimore. We talked about the in-home visits and was told that Gallimore’s parents don’t really care about national championships or bowl games. Our source said, “they want to know their boy will have good people looking out for him.” He said for the Gallimore’s it’s all about who they trust the most.
When we asked who he felt the family trusted more our source said, “I’d say Oklahoma. Just because I feel like the Ohio State guys look more like the government, while Jerry and Stoops seem more genuine.”
Man, if coach Montgomery could pull off DeBerry and Gallimore…wow! After an 8-4 season that’ would definitely be something.
– UPDATE (2:45 pm): Sooners 2015 QB offer, Chason Virgil, has reportedly committed to Fresno State.
Big news for you Cali folks: 4-star QB @ChasonVirgil5 has verbally committed to #FresnoState. Huge get for #GoDogs.

Finally, I’ve been checking every few minutes. It’s like a cup of coffee in the morning, gotta have it.
Talk about a good Christmas if we can get both DeBerry and Gallimore.
Might have wariboko in the fold by then too and jefferson. Some believe jefferson likes ou the most.
Sorry Zack but not even James Hale thinks Jefferson is OU-bound.
I don’t think he is either but I’ve seen some posts elsewhere saying jefferson likes ou the most but that he’s being pointed towards tamu.
No chance with Jefferson.
Posts from people in the know or posters? Jefferson is not choosing Norman.
we hear this stuff annually about guys who like OU best but sign elsewhere…
Jefferson will stun everybody if he leaves the state of Texas……should be UT or aTm for mr Jefferson…….momma Jefferson doesn’t want him north of the red river…………..
Jefferson isn’t happening. OU wants him at MLB, he wants to play OLB. Anyone saying he’s coming or wants to come to OU is lying to themselves. He’s not coming here.
I’m sure OU would let him play outside.
They told him inside a couple months ago. In hindsight, I imagine they would, but any attempt to sell him that pitch would be viewed as just a ploy to get him to come there and not genuine.
Curious and don’t mean to say you’re wrong but how do you know for sure that OU only said ILB. I would have to say there were a lot of conversations about positions and type of players OU is looking for. To me with his speed, I would like to see him at the Striker position.
Because he said in an interview not posted here, that OU wanted him to play MLB, and that he doesn’t want to. And when asked if OU changed their stance if it would have an effect, he basically said that it wouldn’t be genuine and they’d just be saying that in order to land him.
There are alot of pipe dreams out there, and Jefferson simply isn’t happening.
Zach, don’t play with our hearts.
Word is he’s got ou leading again.
Hope your right. Wow, he’s a game changer, not many out there.
Gallimore will announce at the All American Game on January 3rd, correct?
You are correct.
Does DeBerry announce today?
Friday.
Any word from Mbanasor after he took an in-home with the Arkansas DB coach on Sunday? Thanks for all you do.
couldn’t really blame Mbanasor for looking at the prime NFL preparatory conference—SEC— as a place to home his skills, learn the NFL coverage schemes that might earn him a nice paycheck for several years….no question, he could OU, though.
When asked who was the best db he’s faced, Amari Cooper said Aaron Colvin of OU. Big 12 produces db and wr.
Would OU ever go after Colton Beebe? I haven’t checked his highlights but he’s got impressive size, we all know we need that at ILB.
Hopefully we pull in Rankin and Wariboko. Then we don’t even have to think about Weathersby. Has Wariboko said when he’s announcing?
Not exactly but many think he’s announcing tomorrow on his birthday.
What a week that could be…. Rankin, Wariboko and Deberry.
Anything new on Jalin Barnett? He seems to be playing this out to the end. Im guessing its down to OU and Ark though.
Nebraska is making a push at him. People have been saying he’s gotten out of shape and I think OU may have backed off a little. Someone else may be able to confirm that or give more detail though.
Getting Wariboko back would be sweet. When is Rankin announcing?
Not sure but juco NSD is tomorrow so he could sign tomorrow but I suppose he could wake.
Just a little morning levity…
Happy Tuesday and Merry Christmas to all Sooner fans everywhere. May all your Christmas come with a touchdown pass…
A very Merry Christmas to you too.
I want the fit and toned Bob Stoops back. Scrawny-armed Bob has got to go…
Enough dude.
You got it.
Thanks for the nightmares
Bob has gotten pudgy, he used to jog, but he refuses to get his knees worked on. One in particular needs to be worked on.
More Fotu info. 6′-6’1 190-200 depending upon the site. Haven’t seen anything on speed by he looks fast enough. Maybe a ‘Strickerback/hybrid’ type guy.
“Those three words are probably the best to describe how he plays,”
Garrow said. “He really is the most violent player I’ve ever coached.
To give you an example, we had to stop doing special teams in full pads
during high school practices, because he kept injuring his teammates.
“We had a really hard time getting him to understand what ‘thud tempo’
and ‘half-speed’ meant. He really only has one speed, and that’s
all-out.” Like many schools, Garrow says Washington State doesn’t exactly have a
set position they’re looking at Leiato to fill, but many programs
see him as an outside linebacker or strong safety at the next level.
The Washington State staff, however, thinks Leiato, who Garrow says
could bulk up to 215-230 pounds in the right nutritional program, has a
chance to have an immediate impact on special teams as a freshman. – See

I have no problem with this offer if it’s as an athlete or safety. I think there are better options available if it’s for linebacker.
Same. Poster on another site said ucla DB coach in contact with him too. Thinking safety/hybrid and hoping this offer has nothing to do with whether or not OU offers Dwaine Thomas.
To me they can make this offer and not tell their current linebacker offers that they need to worry about their spot being taken, same thing for safety prospects.
It’s like the Dakota Allen thing last season. I believe in honesty across the board but he got into with Kish where he wanted him and where he wanted to play. Let him work at both and see, like Justin McCay and Derrick Woods, both ‘wanted’ WR over safety. We know how that worked for them. If the kid is a football player and fits, offer, bring him in and let him work it out where he ends up. With Thomas, ‘we’re still evaluating’…not ‘we’ve got 8 ahead of you.
I expect offers to go out by next Monday. Jefferson is a long shot but I think they’ve held off on offering while they wait for Jefferson deberry and wheeler. Once we figure out what deberry and jefferson do, then it’s time to move on and not wait for the rest. There’s 3 star guys out there who can play, it’s time to stop waiting.
Would have helped if McKee wasn’t postponing his announcement from the 21st. Any more LB offers expected other than likely Thomas? Go after Griffin? Wheeler announcing Jan 3 at Army AA I believe.
It may be too late for griffin. I just watched a kid from Virginia Gus little. He’s a MLB and looks pretty good. The state of Virginia has tons of talent but VA and tech are both down so it’s a state we could have been working from the start.
I think one kid that will end up here is the LB from Santa fe but most likely as a walk on. The linebackers will be more clear after this week. At which point I think we will go hard after McKee and McGinnis.
McCay was WR/LB I thought?
I’ve seen 4.6 i think that was on his hudl.. But i could be wrong…
He is Roy Williams reincarnated imo
He needs to put on about 15 pounds
UCLA added another DB commit.. Octavious Spencer..
Are we gonna get a Cali DB..? Sure seems like UCLA & USC are filling up…
I would take Marvell tell especially with Reid likely going to lsu.
How many more can they sign?
Send Bob, Gundy and Monty down to give one last hard pitch to Jefferson. Will it happen probably not but it would be fun to see if it could sway him. If this team landed Deberry and Jefferson think about what you would have on defense in 2 years. Let those guys sell him on that.
No time. He announces Friday. Dead period and no face-to-face. Didn’t see anything about an OU in-home with him. Should have sent the entire staff to his house in the Sooner Schooner and let him try on the golden hat while holding one of Boz’s Butkus trophies.
Some of Stoops best players have been 3* guys. It’s about the evaluation, not the hype. I do agree that since 2011, we have been trending in the wrong way and my hope is we will get the guys OU wants.
OU Recruiting Rankings;
2002 #7
2003 #4 Interesting, this was Stoops worst class
2004 #11
2005 #3 5* Granger & Ryan Reynolds
2006 #9
2007 #14
2008 #6 Another bust
2009 #13
2010 #7
2011 #14 One of the worst classes. Read Jordan’s article on this.
2012 #11
2013 #15
2014 #15
2006 class arguably his best with DeMarco, Bradford, Trent Williams & Jermaine Gresham.
McCoy also
Interesting, look at this. 2014 16 of our commits were 3* or less.
2* guys 3 Horky & Alvarez OL, Paul OL
3* guys 13 total Thomas CB, Bond OLB, Mead WR, Meirer TE, Windham CB, Orso DT, Ijalana TE, Green CB, Garnett DT, Flowers HB, Evans LB, Brown OT, & Bolton LB
This brought down our rating but there is definitely talent IMO.
I agree there is talent but I wanna see what they do when they get on the field. Think we have at least another year before we can begin judging the 2014….Take Perine for example: he would be flirting with a 5th star if they re-ranked that entire class.
rphokc • 39 minutes ago
…….so, I’m confused…….what is the division of labor with kish/mont…….deberry is a lb and mont is doing the heavy lifting but kish is involved…..someone said that mont would be involved in his coaching also………how does this work
Well also they sometimes divide up the regions between the coaches and I’ve heard that Monty is responsible for the east coast area and north east. Where kish was recruiting Arizona kids. I think kish may have been Andrews primary recruiter, maybe not but he was involved.
I get the regions thing, but will kish be his coach exclusively
Probably not unless they move him inside.
that’s was my initial ques……..what is the division of labor…….if he’s olb, it’s mont……..ilb, kish?
Also depends on if kish is even here next year.
How so? Over simplified, but at times, the OLB’s act a lot like DE’s in a traditional 4-3. I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest Monty will have a hand in teaching him things.
humorous……….”When we asked who he felt the family trusted more our source said, “I’d say Oklahoma. Just because I feel like the Ohio State guys look more like the government, while Jerry and Stoops seem more genuine.”
Interesting, cause in the past OU has been regarded as being too regimented and robotic, not enough connection to the players. I guess it’s good that it’s changing, or that Ohio State is even more robotic than us haha
What, Urban is a robotic, shark-like, emotionless flesh puppet? Who’d have ever guessed?
The man got physically ill “overdoing it” while coaching at Florida, that proves he is not a robot! Science!
Well, that and a small, evil mage from Alabama was inside his head ordering him to self-destruct.
DeBerry AND Gallimore AND Campbell…what a trifecta that would be for Coach Monty. Whatever the outcome, Monty is putting in yeoman work.
I really believe offensively we’re fine once we get a QB that can consistently read the defense, find the open man and hit him with the ball. Next year could be a new challenge because of the youth of our OLine so I’ll throw that disclaimer in there.
Defensively, I think we have good players on our roster. OU will always have good players on the roster. We’re stuck in this scheme dilemma where we thought we knew what we wanted to do. It didn’t work so now what do we do? Do we keep trying it with different players or do we switch to a different scheme? We need to start by finding 2 CB’s that can cover 1 on 1.
I’m not buying this argument that the SEC is always going to get the better players and we’re some 2nd tier conference. Seen a lot of that posted in the last couple of days. We proved that we CAN beat the SEC. We beat Tennessee this year, we beat Alabama to close out last year. Even the ACC went 4-0 vs the SEC one weekend this season. If we have a QB that can play every week like Knight did in the Sugar Bowl plus a defense that plays every week like they did in the Sugar Bowl, we’ll be as good as anyone in the country. Sorry for all the Sugar Bowl comparison but that was done with much of our current roster. So we know it can be done.
I feel like on this site thanks to TFB, we have said over and over that on D, we either need to rush more than 3 guys or start covering WR’s tighter. I’m sure we have CB’s on our roster who can stay with their man for a few seconds till we pressure the QB.
Mike should go back to what he knows best. When you run a defensive scheme you have total buy-in for play calling and scheming for the opponent becomes relatively easier. Besides when schemed properly you can get just as much pressure out of a 4 front as you can a 3 front. It is all about match ups, leverage, gap control and route coverage, structural soundness, and hats to the ball. Of course all schemes have weaknesses but the advantage to being an expert of that scheme you know the weaknesses just as well as the strengths. You will probably see more dime coverage out of Mike, which could effect overall linebacker depth. Catch 22, but at least he would be more comfortable in game situations. Just my 2 cents or less… thoughts? Please can we just talk X’s and O’s….
I feel the same way. Never been a coach, can’t really talk X’s and O’s but I feel you should do what you do best. There isn’t anything wrong with getting beat. I can’t stand watching Mike Stoops trick himself out of a good game plan. Striker needs to rush the passer and that is all. No dropping in coverage, rush the passer. If the offense figures out a way to take him out. Kudos to them.
Perine Jersey now on sale. Nike prices go up quality goes down numbers aren’t sewn on!
Nike has 3 different levels of jerseys. For the most authentic (tackle twill numbers/letters sewn on) they’re about $180. I don’t know if the Perine version is available yet, but I suspect it will be. Unfortunately, my kid wanted all of the Sooner jerseys (home/away, alt home/alt away), and they had to be the “real” thing. I’m sure the Perine jersey will be the next request.
Now Nebraska pulls an offer… https://twitter.com/ejsports4/status/544939720183398400
For those who remember dillman was dallis Todd’s qb in HS.
Why are schools allowed to do this?
Because there’s no penalty for it.
Ole Miss pulled an offer from an Olive Branch, Miss LB last week because he wouldn’t accept a grey shirt.
What’s that kids name?
Would be nice to go after this dillman kid he switched to TE and he’s up to 235 after being a qb until this year.
Here’s the story.
http://www.clarionledger.com/story/recruitingreport/2014/12/09/ole-miss-pulls-offer-of-olive-branch-standout-walls/20163089/
You may already know this but Clemson is ranked #1 in the nation in total team defense for yards given up in 2014. OU is ranked #51. Let that sink in a little bit…
So I went back and looked at the top NFL defenses to see who they were and what type of D they run (I don’t know of any site that says what type of D colleges run or I would have checked that). The top 5 total team defenses are (Seattle, Detroit, San Fran, Denver & Buffalo). All but San Fran runs a 4-3-4 D. Of course San Fran is blessed with tons of great LB talent so a 3-4-4 makes sense. All 5 are ranked in the top 5 in either pass or rush defense. So it’s really important to be one of the top in either one, not necessarily both.
FWIW, Clemson is ranked #7 in rushing D and #3 in passing D this season. OU is is #11 in rushing D and #117 in pass D.
Clemson also really didn’t play much of anybody with an offense this year. They only played 3 teams in the top 30 in offense, Georgia (8th) G Tech (19th), and FSU (29th) in those games they gave 33 ppg and 375 ypg. A good offense can beat them.
Most teams in the NFL run 4-3-4, it has been the base D for the majority of the league for a long time. It takes the right personel to run the 3-4. Pittsburg was a top D for many years in the 2000’s running a 3-4 because they had the right guys.
It’s easy to see now but should have kept Wilson at S and worked in J Thomas at CB. Would have helped the back end in a lot. Started with one problem (S) then ended up causing two (CB and S).
Seems dead on.
In 2014 Total Offense for yards, Alabama, Ohio St, Oregon plus Baylor and TCU are all in the top 10. FSU is # 26. OU is #23…we are ranked #14 in total number of points scored. I don’t think we can blame the offense or Heup for this season. I do however agree that there are times when a 1st down here or there, ie the end of Bedlam would have won us the game but then again so would a kick or two or a stop or two.
You’re absolutely right….but good lord, if we were at 11-1, which we very well might have been, what a fraud we’d be!
Instead, I look at it in light of pre-season handicapping. We knew there were question marks, but looking at the field, it was an off year across the board. There are no world beaters out there. So, yeah, we had a team that was a logical top five pick pre-season, but largely due to the weakness of all the other teams, not due to our strength.
Whats the feeling on Rankin’s decision tomorrow? Good chance to land him? Have the brainiacs talked to him recently?
Jamal Danely is recruiting him pretty hard. Honestly I’ve been out of the loop on him.
I got to wonder if making Montgomery ‘Co D Coordinator’ would be in best interest. Not sure if qualified completely, but maybe Mike needs balance like with Venables. I wonder if Kish is just a ‘yes’ man being that Mike brought him with.
I would say there’s a good chance Dakota Austin could and maybe some more after spring practices. So far cavil, woods and smith are transferring.
Didn’t Woods get dismissed from team? Little different
Good catch. Forgot he tried to rob shep and Neal.
Besides recruiting, are there any risks for transfers? And if so, who? (And no, I’m not referring to Mixon, who isn’t going to transfer)
We’ll almost definitely have somebody leave, I’d guess.
My guess would be WR, DB, or RB.
Well WR and RB are already covered. Guess we will have to look out for a DB transfer for you to sweep your picks!
My guess is one of the TE. Probably McNamara, he’s been shafted because of the movement of Bell.
Here are some names I’m curious about.
Dekota Austin, Christian Daimler, Sam Grant, Taylor McNamara, David Smith, Daniel Brooks, PL Lindley (he’s RS Jr so he may want to hang it up after graduation) Cortez Johnson, Austin Bennett.
Those are all pretty good guesses. I would expect Cortez Johnson stays though based on what I’ve heard from students closer to him.
Cool, I’ve always liked him and hope he found a home on the D somewhere or as a quality backup.
From what I’ve heard he’s happy where he’s at and will probably compete in the spring.
Is Cortez only a junior?
Red shirt Junior.
I think so. I’d need to double check to make sure.
Yes
Daimler and Grant were names that came up recently as having really progressed. McNamara should be THE TE, such as it is, next season.
Last I heard, Grant was playing DL. Haven’t heard much from Daimler so that’s why I said curious cause I have no idea.
There was something on ‘another site’ recently where the poster had actually talked with his parents at a game and said he is back on OL and having a number that would allow him to play TE as well. Double TE formations I suppose? Bob mentioned both along with Orlando Brown, Alvarez and Frison as having really progressed and looking good FWIW.
That would make sense since he can’t beef up to 300. Also, he’s an option catching a pass out of dbl tight or ace formation
Im betting either Stanvon Taylor or Dakota Austin or both. At WR to many bodies someone will leave.
Is this a better pic of JH and BS?
Unless they pull a miracle and flip Kyler Murray, I would suspect this Virgil news means OU’s 2015 class will not include a QB.
Well, it looks like there are 2 chances for that to happen, Slim and None…although I heard Slim just left town.
Mayfield is OU’s QB for the 2015 class since the Sooners lost Stidham…they may take the HH QB as a selected walkon from what some are saying……………
Not sure what he sees in Fresno. Other than the nice weather.
Maybe he was told he is a Plan B guy and that if Murray comes we will take him.
I’m sure Kish told him we had a couple other QBs we’re offering first but maybe….maybe it’s true and Murray…I can dream….
Yeah, Kish, “Son, we love your skills, but we have 8 guys ahead of ya.” We’ll get back to ya soon.”
Kish could have stated it differently, but I really don’t like schools that extend offers then ask the kid to grey shirt and pull the offer when they refuse, like Miss St and Ole Miss just did.
Exactly right and with no way of knowing the context, it might have been “wish we’d seen your tape earlier as we have some other offers out and we want to honor those. We’re evaluating the situation.”
The weather here hasn’t been the best as of late, hail, tornado, an earthquake, and now it’s cold again. Predicting this weather is about as hard as predicing who is going to be in this recruiting class.
Smog
Maybe he wants to be near the glitter and glamour of Hanford…
Getting out-recruited by Fresno Frickin’ State feels awesome! *insert sarcasm*
Well they did just have a QB get drafted in the second round while we had Landry Jones in the 4th.
did you really want him at OU. That’s the question.
I guess I will defer as usual to those who have evaluated his videos. However, my main point is that I am getting way fed up with getting out-recruited by school like Fresno State, Texas Tech, SMU etc. I want recruits to be as excited at the prospect of going to OU as I would be. Realistic? Probably not, but still my wish.
There is no way of knowing what goes on in a young recruits mind.
That was reinforced last night as I watched the La. 4A state championship. They kept talking about the talented players on the field and where they were going. One talented OLB/DE was going to Arizona and he had offers from everyone, he chose Zona because it felt like “family.” Another kid chose Zona St, still another Taco Tech. These are all D-1 prospects from Louisiana going to some far away, dry and barren places nothing like the deep South.
For some tradition, championships and bling don’t mean a thing.
I can take that a little easier than being outdone by SMU who won only one game this year.
Eh, we were so late even getting involved that I don’t consider it being “out-recruited.”
I never got the feeling we were even that serious. He had an offer, but it wasn’t like we were after him for a year.
yeah this is how i feel about it. you can’t expect every single kid from maine and florida to washington and california to get an offer from oklahoma and stop the recruiting process, especially when we were interested for about 6 minutes. i’m sure he thought it was cool but fresno’s probly been recruiting him for quite a while
Playing time.
Could have gotten that at SMU, and played for a better offensive minded coach, and closer to home.
Everybody loves smog!
I’ve lived in that area of the country…it is not always “nice weather” lol

Was there a reason given? Family move or football move?
Its a family deal That said, he has some really good optionsoptions, when it comes to schools/football programs, to choose from. I’ve been able to have access to some of the ongoings. The schools there are after him pretty hard.
I was told family.
Interesting.
Good Luck to Virgil, but glad we didnt land him. didnt see the wow factor.
Next year is the year to find the right qb.
9:00 am Friday for DeBerry’s announcement, fyi
Be prepared for a meltdown if he chooses elsewhere. I will be one of those flipping $&#* I think this should be an ou lock unless the kish of death struck.
I hope to be around for this meltdown Zach. I really enjoy the meltdowns when they involve the best posters. I hope we turn the corner with kish and linebackers though, I really do.
yeah, nothing like a good, several hundred post meltdown………
The pay site boards will be even worse. One thing I like about this site is guys aren’t as negative.
…zack ‘hale’…….why a lock??
This one should be in the bag because ou can offer close to immediate playing time as I’m sure he may be expected to fill in either at the jack or Sam at times with Grissom being gone. Also it’s obvious what ou needs are some big time players to get them over the hump.
And his dad apparently likes ou the most and I haven’t heard anything negative as far as recruiting his mom to like ou.
Should be more openings with Striker likely bolting for NFL
I don’t think he goes unless he’s getting a high grade which I think his stock fell a bit this year or at least came back to earth. If he has 3.5 sacks in the bowl that may change things.
Mike didn’t do him any favors this year, maybe that was the plan.
Neither did opposing team’s offensive schemes.
Crystal ball predictions on 247 also have ou. Last 9 predictions are all ou. One is a tamu writer, ohio state writer, penn state and a big 10 writer. And demetric warren and jc shurburtt both have ou and their 1 and 2 as far as percentage correct.
Highly rated player, chance for early play time, no other LB commits.
This will be the day after I finish my finals. If he commits I will he overjoyed. If he goes to Tennessee and they pick up another 4* LB before we can pick up just one LB, I’ll most likely be day drinking.
You in a frat or independent
Frat.
Yea, long time ago I was in one too. had a blast.
Awesome, which one were you in?
Delt you?
Kappa Sigma.
My nephew is a Sig Ep and he will graduate this year after 3 years at OU.
Wow, congrats to him! Definitely not easy to do. I’m not familiar with many Sig Ep’s.
If you finish finals, just day drink regardless.
You make an excellent point.
the only position were not getting the guys at the top of our list is linebacker I think that has to be an indictment on kish.
Do you think the fact that we have a few young LB’s on the roster scares any of them or do you think they’re just not connecting with coaches?
If they look at the ranking which most fans do, then they should be worried if we had 20 linebackers none of them are 4 stars.
……that’s not true, you’re getting carried away
I’m not saying we get all our top targets at other positions. But we are getting some. At linebacker we are only getting 3 star guys. In 2013 we got an olb a tweener de/lb and a safety. The safety and lb became ILBs. Missed on 3 5 star guys and about 15 4 star offers. I’m not all about stars but Bama and fsu are winning with top classes.
Depends on who the player’s main recruiter is. I don’t think it’s always Kish who does LBs. Moreover, there are some LBs he has gotten who are young and haven’t developed yet (i.e., Bolton and T. Evans).
If SoonerScoop is correct, then Kish got D. Alexander, J. Evans, Obo, KJ Young, and Romar (Shipp was in on him, too).
I think Bolton will be good. Not sure about Evans but we will get an idea in the spring. Kish was also responsible for Andrews I believe.
Is that 9am EST?? And I’ll officially go into meltdown mode by Monday evening if he doesn’t commit to OU and we don’t have an offer to Dwaine Thomas or anyone else that looks like they could be a serviceable ILB.
9 central, 10 eastern
It’s about time we had some luck swing our way. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Based on Rivals’ star-ranking (so take that fwiw) if OU can land DeBerry on Friday, it would be the highest ranked LB for the Sooners since 2009 (Tom Wort & Ronnell Lewis).
Wow.
Jordan,
What ranking service do you prioritize, or prefer?
Rivals, roger.
They all obviously have their flaws, but my preference is Rivals.
Am I missing something? How in the hell does a kid pick Fresno State over OU exactly?
Geez this year just keeps getting better! SMH
Reposting: Well they did just have a QB get drafted in the second round while we had Landry Jones in the 4th.
May have felt he had a better chance of playing. It also looks we’re transitioning to a fun first power football scheme.
For those interested and have Fox Sports SW, HERE is the schedule for the Texas state championship games this coming Thursday-Saturday.
I always enjoy this time of year and have seen some amazing games, players and plays.
Here are two of my favorite memories from championship games.
From 2007.
From 2010.
If you’re looking for something to pass the time this evening, the OU men are about to tip off on espnU.
I might watch a little, thanks.
There is a three part series on The American Revolution on the American Heroes Channel I plan on watching.
Thanks for the reminder. Was planning on watching.
BTW, today is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 1773.
Also the anniversary of the Schnellenberger hire of ’94, but he preferred scotch to Boston tea.
Just a whole different culture then we have, wasn’t he? And his odd extroverted wife with her makeup trowelled on, wearing the haute couture pant suits and prowling the sidelines herself at times. Hard for Okies to move beyond The Waterboy’s portrayal of “Colonel Sanders” which Schnellenberger was very reminiscent of. And the Medulla Oblongotta.
OU played well. TT is becoming a force.
We did look sharp but I don’t think ORU compares to the Big 12, it’s gonna be a bull fight this year in conference.
Wow. Thanks, ET. Will try to make time to take a peak. Who are some players to watch? Murray is still in, right?
Yep, along with his team mate Greg Little.
Then there is Rodney Anderson and many others.
Get the chance watch the Ennis game. A team that plays together without any big stars and some tough hombres.
My Temple Wildcats finally made it back to the Championship game. Our prize? Aledo…’ We gone make it do what it do baby’ I wish I could get down to support them. Can’t get a way….
Watched most of their game with Vandergrift. Temple runs a fast paced, high octane offense. Good luck to them and their funky pants.
They actually had a brief interview with the old coach Bob McQueen at half time.
The game with Aledo will be televised on Fox Sports SW and FSSW Plus.
Ole Bob McQueen…I played under him and the Staffords. Yeah but I loved those funky pants…lol
His son is good friends with me and lives a couple of doors down. Good guy, played at ATM.
Those pants, never knew if they were coming or going. 🙂
That was our secret weapon…lol
Saw on Facebook Dominique Alexander had surgery. Anybody know any details?
It’s just a flesh wound.
That was funny. (MP and the Holy Grail).
Ou just offered Nebraska commit Daishon neal.
Super K alluded to us going after some one or someones
Wonder why we offered? He’s an Omaha kid who has shown little interest in any other school. Wonder if he tipped them off that he may not like the new coaching hire.
I’m sure they might have heard something. And I’m sure the new coach may have different philosophies so we may have studied who doesn’t fit. We should look into wisconsins list they have some real prospects.
How many DL are we gonna take? haha
To me, he’s a LB like Grissom. Bo might have told Stoops to jump on him.
If he can cover well enough to play olb oh my god that would be unfair.
AS MANY AS IT TAKES.
AS MANY AS IT TAKES
Rankin won’t be a Sooner. He’ll stay in Mississippi
What makes you say that
I’m just seeing all the momentum going towards Ole Miss or Miss State
Plus it’s just our luck as well
Unfortunately you’re probably right.
What’s Steve Blake doing now-a-days? As bad of a coach he was, he could be a good recruiting evaluator/coordinator..IMO
The ex-Univ. Maryland basketball player, or John Blake (awful ex-OU coach)?
Lol I didn’t even catch that.
Lol okay okay sorry everyone for the Typo!
HAHA, I was scratching my head trying to figure out who Steve was.
He’s nuclear.. In the middle of all the UNC violations.. Probably done coaching at the college level..
From the Wikipedia article on JOHN Blake: “In 2010, Blake resigned from North
Carolina in the midst of an investigation into players’ relationships
with agent Gary Wichard, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2011. At the time, Blake was suspected of being an employee and receiving cash benefits from Wichard.[1] On March 12, 2012, the NCAA announced that Blake had received a three-year show-cause penalty,
which effectively bars him from college coaching during that period.
The NCAA determined that Blake had received personal loans from Wichard
and failed to disclose them to UNC, and also misled NCAA investigators.” Right now, he is is the NCAA equivalent of an Ebola carrier. No one will touch him.
From the NCAA investigation it appears that Blake’s reputation as a recruiter is probably based on him handing out money to the recruits. Plus, he has also never been a coordinator despite having been a head coach. I would say NO to your idea.
Congrats to my Wildcats for making the State finals!!
Anything new on Rankin and Orr?
Rankin announces tomorrow commitment , Orr announces top 5 tomorrow.
