The Path to Norman

Daniel Akinkunmi, a member of the 2024 OU recruiting class, came to Norman from quite a distance. The lineman, out of England, attended the NFL academy and was viewed as a high ceiling, very athletic big man. Plenty of schools offered Akinkunmi; his top five included Clemson, Miami, Ole Miss, and Baylor. However, the Sooners won his commitment in the fall of 2023.

After arriving in Norman, Akinkunmi was one of the most vocal and visible of the new Sooners, becoming very engaged with the fan base.

The OU offensive line has and will continue to shift from its 2023 line, with several new players set to make an impact. Daniel Akinkunmi could see a redshirt season this fall, while still gaining some valuable game experience, as he continues to develop his game.
