The Path to Norman
Jacob Sexton played high school football at Deer Creek, less than an hour north of Norman in Edmond. The Sooners were one of his first offers back in January, 2020. After that offer, Sexton and OU seemed like they were on the path to end up together. Sexton’s offer sheet really blew up in the spring of 2020, with programs like Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Tennesee, and many more vying for the lineman’s committment. However, the home state school won out in the summer of 2021.

Career so Far
Sexton got experience in his first year on campus, playing in 10 games at tackle. While Sooner fans were happy to see him play, it was puzzling to not seem him utilize a redshirt season. He did, however, suffer an injury in the Cheez-It Bowl that forced him out of the game.
In 2023, Sexton played in seven games. He saw time at both guard and tackle in his game, four of which were starts.

This Season
The Sooners will have fresh faces across the offensive line. Sexton, one of the few members with game snaps in crimson and cream, looks set to be a full-time starter this year. Both guard and tackle seem to be on the table for Sexton, likely depending on how the remaining positions of the line shape up. Whether it’s tackle or guard, Sexton is going to play a lot and could be a leader for the offense in 2024.
