The Path to Norman

Jake Taylor, a Las Vegas high school product, and the Sooners circled each other for quite some time. Taylor was an elite recruit as a highly-rated four start and had offers from many of the top programs in the country, with Alabama and Notre Dame rounding out his top three. When he visited Norman for the ChampU BBQ, he was quick to announce for Oklahoma.

Taylor was part of a quality 2022 offensive line class. Jacob Sexton committed just days before Taylor, with Tyler Guyton and McKade Mettauer transferring in.

Career so Far

Taylor saw action right away in his first year on campus. He played in the first three games, then five more throughout the season. He showed promise in his snaps (41) at guard.

2023 was a much quieter year for the lineman. Taylor played in four games, mostly early in the fall, before taking a redshirt season.

This Season

The Sooners have the task of replacing both offensive tackles this year. Incoming transfers Michael Tarquin and Spencer Brown, along with Jacob Sexton and Taylor, are looking to be the biggest factors at tackle (although both Sexton and Taylor could just as easily slide over to guard). Regardless of where it is, Taylor looks set for his biggest season yet in 2024.
