FOOTBALL

Tennessee lost their starting left tackle (a former walk-on, btw) for the season. (Knox News)

The media will be allowed to view the Joe Mixon survelliance video. So we have all that to look forward to after having finally moved on to, you know, actual football. (NewsOK)

Mack Brown lost a home to a fire. (KVUE)

This is horrible.

OTHER

Interesting.

That TCU vid is an AMAZING recruiting tool…………………for anyone recruiting against the froggies.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I guess Mack should have left the smoldering Big Tex in Austin.

  • Cary Newman says:

Who ever produced that Frog video belongs in a Zoo.

  • blaster1371 says:

I know I am guilty of my walk at times not matching my talk but the ending of the TCU video seems to run somewhat counter to what the name of the college implies. I enjoy the odd traditions of universities as most have roots in the pre-WWII years. I know many of the lost and misguided think the beloved hymn Boomer Sooner is as obnoxious a tune as there ever was……. And my answer to them Is…….. I’m Sooner born, and Sooner bred and when I die I am Sooner dead. Go Oklahmoma……!

    • Stats says:

I realized why non-Sooners hate our hymn. It’s associative. The song gets played every time OU does well, which means their team didn’t do so well. If you were to hear the same song over and over every time your team failed, you wouldn’t like it very much either. And if you’re against OU, it probably happens a lot…

I don’t understand why the Tennessee tackle won’t get a medical for his injury; he should definitely get it. Same happened to Evans, Nila and Phillips. With all,the schollies the Vols had been handing out its interesting they had one left for a walk on; he must have been very impressive with his work ethic.

  • Daryl says:

TCU is odd to me, but hey if Wooooooooooo Pig Sooie can catch on and be called a cool tradition then that little chant can be too I am sure.

I do agree that a Christian college saying that they are going to give hell to others seems a little odd. LOL

    • OUknowitscomin says:

That was my 1st thought…..’give em hell TCU’???? Wow. How that got approved as a message for Christian university is a head scratcher.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Lol….as one who was raised in the church I find this both amusing and bewildering. The gospel of heaven has been scrapped. “Give em hell” has taken its place. Head-scratcher is right….

  • EasTex says:

Hope no aggies see this video, their “hullabaloo, caneck caneck” would make the TCU video award worthy.

  • thebigdroot says:

I was watching College Football Daily “The Experts” this morning. None of them had OU in the top 5, and one of them had aTm #1, Georgia #2, and Auburn #3. Goodness ESecPN can’t get off that teet. So sad.

    • boomersooner says:

Sad is a pretty good word for it. 7 yrs of them taking advantage of opportunities + 1 yr where they didn’t quite take full advantage and now this yr. The horse is dead, leave him be

      • thebigdroot says:

The shell of the SEC was cracked in the bowls last year, but old habits die hard.

        • Rees Bear says:

I can see espin leaving their bride at the altar (the sec) once the veil is removed.

I just hope that whoever it is they try to court next flips a big bird their way.

  • Kody K. says:

Why show the Mixon video to only the media at this juncture! It’s only going to add fuel to the fire at something that needs rest at this point.

    • Jordan Esco says:

Best I can tell, they simply caved into the pressure of FOI requests. Why they chose to do so now, after everyone had pretty much moved on, is beyond me.

    • Defend Colfax says:

Anyone else find it funny that the media were, and continue to be all over Mixon. But Wes Welker, the biggest NFL star from the state (GK is getting there, but he doesn’t have enough hardware) gets suspended for amphetamines and there is not a blip on the front page on the NewsOk site. Embarrassing. And I like Welker.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

The TCU video is so bizarre it’s spooky. Perhaps they’re not ready for Power conference football after all.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

As I surf through the sports sites, I’m amazed how many are jumping on the “OU is overrated” bandwagon. Just came across a Clemson blog that declares this OU team “just screams overrated”…..I guess when your team just got humiliated the way they did ya gotta find some way to pump yourselves back up.

    • thebigdroot says:

That’s ok, I don’t mind it too much. Whatever it takes to keep this team hungry and with a chip on their sholder.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Oh believe me, I’m absolutely in agreement. In fact I’ve said that on this site before. Nevertheless, I still find it mildly amusing how many tools like this will jump on that bandwagon without having a clue what they’re talking about. Sometimes it makes one wonder…..why OU? Kind of a head-scratcher…….

    • Jed says:

I can only guess that they have some attitude towards us because of Venables? I mean we haven’t been parts of each other’s football galaxies in a long time.

  • SavageSoonerEsq says:

I found myself feeling self-conscious watching the TCU video, and made sure that no one was watching me watch that video. It was so horrible, and just strangely spooky. I never want to hear that chant again.

    • lulzer says:

The switch from the old dude, to the young chick in the bathroom, then the guy lifting saying “lickity, lickity”…I called CPS.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

    Alrighty then, TCU… 0_o

  • Rees Bear says:

Riff Ram Bah Zoo… ? uh, okay!! They do have a really nice stadium though.

  • captfoss says:

Mack Brown proves he can still light a fire under something!
