What exactly is the fascination here? I saw the burrito one, but I guess I’m just not in on the joke.

That “twitter” article you posted is very interesting. I know Stoops has always been real good when it comes to advising his players about leaving early, but if the numbers on these tweets are correct, it’s a pretty serious issue for the college game. Worried it’s going to end up similar to the NFL game.
What a weak-ass argument by Florio. His “last year” comment was regarding McShay’s mock draft on May 2nd, 2013!!! Florio knows damn well how much can change b/t then and when underclassmen have to declare for the draft. Using that as a basis for his point is absolutely stupid. Plus, McShay has nothing to do with the “draft grade prospects” that players receive from scouts prior to making their decision about going pro.
I don’t think it’s that weak. McShay certainly has his own part to play in all of this, and it’s crazy that he’s calling out other people for misleading underclassmen when he’s every bit as culpable.
I’m not saying McShay is infallible here. I’m simply pointing out that the basis for Florio’s response is very weak. Those players he used as his examples still had 9 months to disgest any information they received from scouts in addition to still performing at a high level during that upcoming season. By the time February (i.e. decision time) rolled around, none of those 3 players were considered close to 1st or 2nd-round worthy by McShay. That blows huge holes in Florio’s argument. That’s all I’m saying.
Ah. Fair enough. For some reason, I thought McShay still had those guys rated highly.
Ah, gotcha. I was just listening to Mike&Mike, and Golic just went off on those guys blasting McShay and those like him. He didn’t break down McShay’s example like I did, but he just said that players have tons of resources from NFL teams (specifically, receiving evaluations from team scouts) in order to make the decision. So if anyone thinks those players are making decisions based on McShay-type guys, they’re fools. I still think McShay/Kiper have a minor bit of influence, but they should not be considered culprits, in my opinion, for underclassmen unjustifiably leaving early.
I just can’t quit laughing about the whorns, what a bunch of losers!
I miss Mack already. He had that program headed where we like it to be.
Although it is quite hilarious, and we’re all laughing, the SEC is laughing harder. We stuck it out with those losers, and then we let them beat us this year. The SEC invasion of Texas has only just begun. We need a strong Texas, period.
THANKS AS ALWAYS JORDAN!
Stoops is always stressing not to go unless you have a 1st round grade. The man’s been around the block enough times to know, but still kids think they know best. Sad.
