FOOTBALL

So, first we had this yesterday.

Then, last night, we had one of our local sports talking heads who just couldn’t wait and had to “break” the story before everybody else. Now odds are he’ll probably be right, and Trevor Knight probably won’t play on Saturday. I mean it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. The kid hasn’t practiced all week. So this person read the writing on the wall and knowing that it was a ‘no risk-“high” reward’ proposition decided to just go ahead and “report” their breaking news. Not the first time, nor will it be the last.

‘Oklahoma’s identity crisis’ (SoE)

Suit filed for release of Joe Mixon surveillance video (TW)

I’m stunned. Stunned, I say!

As an OU fan I’ve been conditioned to hate Miami, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the first ’30 for 30′ on The U. So I suspect the sequel will be quite good as well.

BASKETBALL

Blake Griffin in a little bit of hot water. (ESPN)

Remember this young man’s name.

All three of OU’s 2015 commits signed their letters of intent yesterday. Christian James, Rashard Odomes & Akolda Manyang.

Strong chance for OU here.

OTHER

It’s a couple days old, but Tosh destroying ESPN was rather humorous. (Deadspin)

Softball crushed it yesterday, per usual.

You just made my whole day putting that Tosh.O video on here! I saw it and was hoping since you would post it! Lol

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

The Tosh bit was perfect. Also, according to Perfect Game.. OU baseball signed the 2nd best class in the Big12 & 23rd ranked class nationally, yesterday…

Lattin is a rebounding machine. His wingspan is amazing.

That Tosh.0 piece was hilarious. It’s nice to know we are not chomping at the bit when ESPin opens it’s mouth. He killed them

On a positive note, this BBall is coming together nicely. I can’t recall this much vibe from the MBB team since the Griffin years.

Looks like Baylor beat the Trench Warfare out of JY, poor guy.

Great news on bball and baseball recruits. Excited to see Cody Thomas start hopefully Josh doesn’t dial throw to Shepard 15 times and spread the rock around. I believe he ruined Knights progress by zeroing in all year on Shepard and never getting comfortable with other receivers. Good day #BrainiacNation

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

Why do you think JH zeroed in on Shepard? Doesn’t TK have options when he’s out there?

      • SoonerfanTU says:

No, no, no. Didn’t you know that the call/play signaled in from JH, most of the time, was “Twins Left, Throw It To Shepard”. That’s our bread and butter play. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Zack says:

What will be interesting to me is to see how well Thomas does (if he gets the next 4 starts). If he does well then I wonder if he skips out on baseball to focus on football.

      • ND52 says:

If by some chance he tears it up in Lubbock and Heupel doesn’t somehow bench him at the earliest opportunity…….

        • Zack says:

At this point I want them to find out what they have in Cody Thomas. Most think they will have an open competition for the starting qb job and I think it would be wise to see what he can do. I mean fans and media are treating stoops like he’s gone oh for so they need to figure some things out.

    • Krys Allen says:

I have every reasone to believe that Josh will “develop” Cody the same way he did Landry, Blake, and Trevor. There is a pattern here of raw talent that never meets its potential, and the one thing they all have in common is Josh Heupel. Doesn’t anyone remember how Landry would have at least one terrible pick per game, lots of times a pick 6 or a pick that lead to a short field for our opponent. As long as Heupel is the QB coach/ Play caller we will see the same thing from Cody that we saw from the others.

      • Zack says:

But you’re going to leave out Bradford who he also developed? And Landry was good while josh was just the qb coach. I think he’s having trouble developing a qb and gameplanning an entire offense.

        • Krys Allen says:

Even if you include Bradford who I left out since JH was purely a QB coach at that point, then he is 1 for 5.

Landry was a much better passer but he suffered from the same problems we have seen in Trevor and Blake. Inconsistency, staring down receivers, having a favorite receiver, untimely interceptions etc. Remember when Broyle’s went down and our offense basically stopped functioning?

JH is not capable of developing QB’s while being an offensive coordinator.

    • ND52 says:

No Josh ruined Knight’s progress by trying to turn him into a younger version of Josh Heupel.

  • Sooner_Ace says:

” BrainiacNation” that is good idea for a shirt :)_ TFB feel free to send me a free one for idea lol ๐Ÿ™‚
