Just shocking news regarding Lampkin. Joking.

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

It is ok, even if he makes the team Coach Weak will find a way to kick him off for some kind of violation. I’m just sayin.

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

Who is the one denying his appeal? I didn’t see that info in the article. Was it Strong, the AD, the university, the conference, the NCAA?

      • BoomerDave says:

From what I read, it’s the NCAA.

      • Brad Warren says:

As BoomerDave said, this was the NCAA denying appeal. The next step in the process is the school actually denying application for admission, which they have until 8/26 to do. It’s all slow playing. We’ve seen this before.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

The NCAA is there for student athletes.

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Good Morning fellow Brainiacs !!!! “It’s another fine day to be a SOONER”

Cant wait for bball. Loaded with athletic players and coach Kruger does the right way. Lampkin thing doesnt surprise me. If he goes to juco he only has to stay one year bc he is eligible anywhere except texas, right?

    • Brad Warren says:

According to the article UT has to release him from LOI once admission app is rejected bc of foreign language issue. They have until classes start on 8/26. So am I correct in reasoning that once this occurs, he could go directly to OU or another school, rather than juco route?

      • Hollerback says:

How could UT not look at his high school transcripts and not know that we wouldn’t qualify?

        • Eric Hoffpauir says:

I’m curious about this from an admissions perspective. If someone applies as a senior and says that they are going to finish required high school classes in the spring, they can be admitted. But once they send in a final transcript that says that they no longer meet the requirements, shouldn’t UT admissions be able to say in a reasonable amount of time that he’s not admissible? They shouldn’t have to wait until the first day of classes to make that determination.

          • MrBigsby says:

            They shouldn’t, but they will.

          • Brad Warren says:

Exactly, although ut clearly knows he won’t qualify, they will wait until deadline to intentionally delay him going elsewhere. It’s pure garbage. Everybody knows it. Imagine how the kid and his family feel.

          • BoomerDave says:

They were anticipating him completing the required courses in summer school. Lampkin himself agreed to try to get qualified in the summer, but sorta quit once it became apparent that it was an impossible task.

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Mark it down, Picking OU all the way to the Championship.

  • Matt says:

Deberry certainly seems on the fast track to defensive end

    • Randy says:

I hope not.. Maybe why the “great” Monty was recruiting him ?

    • Daryl says:

240 is what a LB should weigh! We have just become very used to having safeties play LB

      • Coach K says:

Better be able to run at that size in the big 12. Big Lb struggle In a pass happy fast paced league. This isn’t the SEC.

I would take Rocky Calmus and his 220-225 pounds all day everyday right now.

        • KJ1123 says:

Plus Im going to guess he didn’t gain 20 lbs of muscle in under 2 months unless there was a needle involved. Some kids are infatuated with getting bigger. But putting on bad weight can be a real detriment to their development.

          • Brad Warren says:

C’mon man. Needles? That kind of insinuating is uncalled for. It’s probably just the dreaded freshman 15. In his case 16.,

          • KJ1123 says:

Of course Im not insinuating any of those kids are doing that. I was just stating that 20 lbs under two months wont be good weight. I think 225-230 at the most would be a good weight for him. Which he could very well be at by the time camp wraps up.

          • hemisooner says:

            I agree with that.

        • Daryl says:

Rocky Calmus was listed at 240 his Junior year and at 235 his Senior year.

          • Coach K says:

Trust me he wasn’t that big. Rocky played at under 210 as a frost and never played over 225.

          • Coach K says:

Rocky never played over 225. He was under 210 as a frosh.

Have known him since 2nd grade playing against and on the same teams growing up.

You can look up all the links you want. I am telling you he never played over 225 at Ou. He was hurt and could never lift in the offseason.

I bet you can find the link that tells you he weighed 208 at the start and finished his frosh season at 198. I am not trying to knock you I have just known Rocky for too long. He never played at Ou over 225.

          • Daryl says:

I got ya. No offense here bro. The bigger deal here is that you know Rocky. I wish we had a locker-room full of the heart, intensity, and ability of Rocky! If I make my back to Oklahoma for a visit I am happy to buy you both a steak and talk some foot ball if you guys are available. LOL But seriously!

          • Coach K says:

            It’s all good.

          • Coach K says:

You also listed the school numbers. Those are almost always inflated. I know a guy last year listed at 190 and he weighed in at 176 haha

        • hemisooner says:

I imagine he will lose some weight once two a days begin.

        • SoonerLove says:

It’s nice to have LB’s that can slow down the high octane defenses, but also need more guys like Striker that can blitz and get through the big boys on the O’line. It’s a fine line of finding the right combination or speed, size, strength, and coverage skills.

  • MoJoOkie says:

Looks like that Brazilian chick could be pretty tough. Ronda Rousey better be gettin’ ready.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Question: If she hit a man in the face would it be ok to hit her back.

Answer: It wouldnt matter, he’d probably be out cold.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Eh, Bethe Correia doesn’t stand a chance. There’s a lack of talent in the UFC women’s Bantamweight Division.

      • MoJoOkie says:

She looks to have punching skills. Still, everybody has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

She lacks strength behind her striking, and even if she didn’t, Ronda would just take her down.

        • j l says:

So did cat zingano, who rousey finished in like 14 seconds lol.

    • KJ1123 says:

Ronda gonna smash that girl, no one in her class will beat her unless it’s another top tier Judo player.

    • paganpink says:

She’s a steroidal and testosterone looking gal isn’t she? From the brows to the acne she is anabolic steroids poster girl! But that won’t beat technique and skill and Rousey was Judo first, before she learned to strike effectively as well, and what is Judo if not using your opponents strength against them. Her hip tosses are amazing!

      • MoJoOkie says:

Yeah, I agree with your steroids comments. And I think Ronda should beat her, but stranger things have happened. The vid shows Ronda getting her make-up done and Correia is running and working out on the beach. Just kind of reminded me of Tyson getting beat by Douglas in Japan. But having said all that, I think Ronda is on a mission to leave a solid legacy when she retires.

        • SavageSoonerEsq says:

Did you watch the whole video? It showed Ronda training as well, and also showed Correia getting her hair done.

          • MoJoOkie says:

I admit to turning it off at the beach. At that point Ronda hadn’t worked out. Now I feel terrible.

          • KJ1123 says:

Yeah Ronda is not taking this girl lightly. Especially after that suicide comment. I’m guessing if she gets the girl in an armbar she’ll give it a little extra torque to hear that pop.

    • SavageSoonerEsq says:

Brazilian chick 4 years ago: Hey, you know it’d be cool to try and get into this UFC game since I’m kind of bigger than most women.

Rousey: B**** please! I’ve been doing this since birth.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

“I mean I get how this whole Shawn Oakman has become a thing, primarily because of the media’s infatuation with the guy’s size/presence. But if you actually watch game film of the guy, he’s arguably the most overrated player in the entire country, IMO.”

B-b-but he’s 6’9, don’t you know? And he jumps really high! You just don’t know what you’re talking about, Jordan. I mean, Waco knows football. Why would that town overhype a player when it has perennially churned out once-in-a-lifetime talent?

    • Michael says:

Not to mention, he plays on the BEST defense of all time!

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

For the BEST coach ever. I mean, c’mon. The guy has a meme for crying out loud. It’s Baylor blasphemy that he’s not 1 through 15 on the list. He should be on every list, dang it!

Top 5 CFB Players to Ever Wear Pants:
        1. Shawn Oakman
        2. Shawn Oakman
        3. Shawn Oakman
        4. Shawn Oakman
        5. See #1

        It’s a no-brainer.

      • Stephen Dale says:

plus, Oakman is a DIRTY football player……he intentionally hit a defenseless T Knight last fall and caused a concussion…..I’m hoping Oakman gets paid back in spades ! both knees ‘chop blocked’ and 2 ACL surgeries as a result….he has earned some pain……….

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

I share your disdain for cheap shots, but wouldn’t wish injury on anyone

          • Slim Sooner says:

Right, I would never wish any kid serious injury either. Not cool. But, if Oakman temporarily lost his voice and couldn’t arrogantly hype himself and disparage others, I wouldn’t be so sad.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

I hope he pours a bowl of his favorite cereal only to find out there is no milk or he finds a quarter on the ground but it is stuck with bubble gum.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

He’s so tough he’d make pink a mans color. 😉

        • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

I feel the same as Soonerfandave. But, a dirty player is a frustrated player. One of a few reasons why he is overhyped.

        • KJ1123 says:

I just watched that play again, that was pretty dirty, he is way over hyped, just watch some of his pass rush moves.

      • kokevo says:

That defense has been on the winning end against ou 3 of the past 4 years we can all laugh and joke about baylors past but this is the present and they are better than we are in about every aspect of football right now so I’ll be quiet and hopefully the team will do my talking for me this year.

        • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Oy. The conversation is about Oakman and you crowbar in a way to talk about how bad OU is right now…

          • kokevo says:

Look at what I replied to Michael “the best defense of all time” I’m not trying to say ou is bad but Baylor is good.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I’m quite clear on what you wrote.

    • Clint Lenard says:

He doesn’t even jump high. Those box jumps are a joke. They’re focused on hip and knee flexion, very little on vertical explosion.

      • KJ1123 says:

And its a 40 inch box…the dude is like 6’10″…that’s barely up to his waist.

        • Drew says:

Yep. I always just compare him doing this to AD doing it . . . at 9 inches shorter. Not really that impressive anymore.

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

But. But, uh. He’s. He’s 6’9, darn you!

  • Sooner 4Ever says:

That is a 6’2″, 180 lbs WR performing a backflip effortlessly while catching a ball. I’ll take freakish athleticism for 1000, Alex.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

      “I’ll take ‘Swords’ for 400.”
“That’s actually ‘S’ Words, Mr Connery.”

  • KJ1123 says:

Rondas striking = 100 times better.

    • Clint Lenard says:

Watching that video (especially the very end) made me think she’s raped a few dudes in her day. Lucky dudes, but they still got raped.

  • KJ1123 says:

    UT is a joke…seriously

    • SavageSoonerEsq says:

They are pathetic! Playing games with young people’s lives hopefully comes back to bite them in a bad way. If it’s an impossibility to meet the eligibility requirements then one should be allowed to back out of that letter of intent. I’m sorry, but there’s more to life than football and this young man should have every opportunity to succeed in life, and their hard-line stance is going to give him a longer row to hoe.

      • soonerborn says:

But Coach Strong has these core values that are awesome! LOL!! Do as I say, not as I do….

      • Clint Lenard says:

If that were true most SEC teams would have been bitten many years ago.

        • Jed says:

What you say is true. It’s kind of like the old saw, though: You can’t cheat an honest man.
Meaning that people who get ripped off on ‘too good to be true’ deals….should have known they were too good to be true.
I do believe that many, perhaps most, of the kids who get burned by the SEC’s brutal weeding programs do so because, in their heart of hearts, they thought it would be the other guy to get screwed…and they’d benefit.
It’s a hard way to learn that you’re generally better off dealing with people like Stoops.

  • Defend Colfax says:

So the DMN Lampkin story is accurate?

    • Jordan Esco says:

      In what respect?

      • Defend Colfax says:

Well yesterday you said it wasn’t accurate, so I disregarded it. I was wondering what changed?

        • Jordan Esco says:

Sorry, I meant the blurb in there at the end about it being likely he’ll have to go the JUCO route. That part is not accurate.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

Are you saying that he doesn’t have to go JUCO?

          • Jordan Esco says:

He’ll have other options. Maybe I misread that, but the implication seemed to be that would basically be this only choice and that, as I understand it, is not accurate.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

Thanks for the answer. I just didn’t understand why failing to be admitted to UT would mean he would have to go JUCO. I’m thinking the author was saying that his best/only option to enroll at UT was to finish his language requirement in JUCO.

  • BoomerDave says:

Does anyone here know anything about the QB who visited yesterday? Haven’t heard or seen much about him.

    • KJ1123 says:

Not trying to be mean or anything, but when I saw that on twitter yesterday I thought he was a kicker.

      • BoomerDave says:

He did look a little frail, but he will only be a SOPH so he has time to grow. Just never heard his name and now that he has visited, still nothing about him.

      • Clint Lenard says:

Same. I was wondering why they were making a big deal about a kicker lol

    • Katyboomer says:

Wouldn’t that be something if we got our QB for 2018 and still no LBs for 2016 JK. I think we will end up going with the local kid Thompson for our 2018 QB as long as the dad and coaches are still cool

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

Haven’t most of the players gone home for a short break? If so, not the optimal time for a visit.

      • KJ1123 says:

I think a good amount of players may go home soon for a break. Finals for some players are like tomorrow or Thursday. Not sure how many coaches are around though.

  • Zack says:

Personally I think fans need to drop the lampkin thing. Sure he regrets signing with texsa who blames him but he had until nsd to change his mind to OU and he didn’t so do you guys really think his heart is really in it?

    • EasTex says:

I’ve been over it for many weeks.
I have no real interest in where he winds up, I just hate to see any kid get dumped on like this, even though he contributed to the situation.

    • Brad Warren says:

He made a mistake. We all have, did at age 17. To question whether his heart would be “in it” if ultimately allowed to play at OU is a bit of overreaction imo. I’d certainly like to see him get a chance. In a couple of yrs playing for us against ut, his heart might be better measured.

      • Zack says:

I don’t have a problem with him “making a mistake” my point is the Twitter OU guy boomer16 keeps tweeting at coach strong telling him how shady he is. I just don’t like that. It’s one kid and to be honest he should have a one year penalty as if he were a transfer.

        • Krys Allen says:

Disagree, Strong should release him, he knows at this point Lampkin won’t qualify, anything he does to slow down his transfer is just out of spite. Strong is the adult, he should act like it.. they knew he didn’t have the credits when they let him sign his LOI so IMO its as much UT’s fault as it is Lampkins, everyone should move on.

          • Zack says:

So kids who have the time to qualify and from my understanding he has not made every attempt to qualify, these kids should be released every time? Even though he’s 17 or 18 years old he needs to be accountable. He took away a scholarship that texsa could have used on someone else. If Charlie strong was in his 12th year there he probably would have let this go but he’s trying to still establish a mindset so I don’t have an issue. Maybe strong wants the kid still and is wanting him to go to a juco they have ties to, that way he can transfer into ut in a couple years.

          • Krys Allen says:

The stories that I have read have stated that he did make every effort and it was a long shot to begin with to complete the credits he needed in a short amount of time, compounded by the fact that language was an area he is weak in and had trouble with in highschool. So yes I believe he deserves to be released, especially since Texas was aware of his issues before he signed. IMO they were desperate bc they had no other players at his position in this class and he was talented so they took a risk. It didn’t pan out for either party and now they need to part ways. I see no reason why he should be getting slow played by Texas unless someone can uncover evidence that he really never did try and this was all some scheme.

As far as Strong trying to salvage something and maybe get him back after JUCO, from quotes I have heard from his family, there is no way he would return to Texas if he went the JUCO route.

          • Defend Colfax says:

That’s a joke. Texas can still award that scholarship to someone else, next year or to a transfer, or maybe even a walkon. How about that? When you listen to the man speak it’s obvious he has a god complex and he needs to get over himself. He is a public employee hired to win football games. Let it go.

          • boomersooner says:

Sounds like sour grapes. I don’t like the colors he wears but he seems like a stand up man and wants things the way he wants them. I think he’s a lot more than “a public employee hired to win football games”

          • Defend Colfax says:

That’s kinda the description of a football coach. Sour grapes? Ever met the man? I’m just being honest. He’s a decent individual but he thinks rather highly of himself.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

UT may still want him but after being treated this way, why would he kid want Texas? I can’t think of a way to make a kid want to go somewhere else.

I suspect Strong is making an example out of him.

BTW, if the LOI becomes void, why does he have to go to JUCO?

    • KJ1123 says:

I agree, should move on, Im sure the OU staff has. UT isn’t lettin him go, they will make him go to a juco before they give him a chance to make a beeline for Norman.

  • KJ1123 says:

    ….hilarious Tom.

    • Krys Allen says:

you laugh… if I was a celebrity I would crush/melt/destroy any old device. There are probably plenty of people who would love to have the pictures/data especially if there are any naughty ones of his super model wife.

      • KJ1123 says:

        Haha very true

        • Krys Allen says:

or texts calling his coach or team mates names.. or discussing plays, or his obsession for womens shoes. Who knows… point is it would not shock me at all if he really did destroy all of his old phones.

          • hemisooner says:

He plays for a team known to break certain rules like taping another teams practice or stealing signs. Plays for a coach who would cheat against his own mother in a friendly card game. Yeah, good ole Tom Brady did it for that reason

  • Brent says:

I think that Flying Ghost prank would have been better if done on a campus with an open-carry law…

  • CS says:

Oakman is very over rated. The other guy on their D Line – Billings, is hugely underrated. In our game against BU, he abused Ty and Dionte repeatedly. While Oakman was handled with ease by Tyrus and Daryl, which is the reason why he got frustrated and took a cheap shot against TK.
