I don’t think I’d do very well overall in that beer challenge any more. I might be able to pick out Bud Light and Coors Light, at best. Before I studied abroad, I thought that Shiner and Sam Adams were the pinnacle of American beers. When I came back, I thought they both tasted like water.
Shiner is by FAR my favorite American beer. Never been abroad so no comparison there. It’s just tough for this Texas born boy to find in Iowa!
I’m definitely a beer snob now. It’s not hard to find a lot of better American beers in the US than Shiner since the explosion of craft breweries. There’s a lot more crap, too, and expensive crap with fancy packaging, but I’ll take that problem over the days when the only choices were often just the major American breweries, Corona, Heineken, and Sam Adams.
Will Oklahoma ever do one of those Friday Night Lights- type events, like basically everyone else is doing now…?
You’d have to think if they planned to they would have already done it by now. Seems like common sense and, honestly, borderline stupid on their part to voluntarily hamstring yourself like that, but what would I know…
I guess they could have a good reason for not doing one.. but I’m not smart enough to figure that out..
