    First?

  • SoonerfanTU says:

    Creed looks really good.

    • cpearc00 says:

Yeah, although I admit I was hoping it would be a prequel about Apollo’s life. Oh well, still looks good.

  • Jeff says:

Yep per TCU no changes anytime soon to Big 12

    • ccmosaic says:

If TCU has more power in this league than OU, I would run to the SEC with pride if I was Boren. At least there we would get exciting games each week.

      • Jeff says:

Not sure OU can go to the $ec unless they give up wrestling

        • BleedCrimson says:

Not true, we have mens gymnatics in another league and our rowing team is in different conference as well. Just have to realign those sports with better match-ups.

          • Jeff says:

Good but you guys think OU could go to the $ec with the pukes?

          • SoonerfanTU says:

            Why not?

          • HoustonSooner says:

SEC will no longer take 2 teams from 1 State any longer. Or so they say.

          • Bob Edwards says:

The SEC won’t take another team in a state they are already in. Can’t get the votes. But there is no rule that says they can’t take two in a state if they want to.

          • BleedCrimson says:

I am split on whether or not we should go to the eSECpn conference. I could also care less where the Oklahoma Second University lands. I am not a fan of us being tied together for any reason. We are OU and should stand on our own and not tie any apron strings to any other university. We will find new rivals where ever we land and do not really need the “classic” rivals to move forward.

          • Jeff says:

My only thing is the legislation in Oklahoma might try to do something to prevent this from happening

        • STL Sooner says:

Missouri still has a nationally ranked wrestling team

  • thebigdroot says:

Fox Sports has just never figured it out. At least when it comes to CFB. Their color guys are worse than Lou Holtz and half the time they have no idea what they are talking about. Just talking to be talking.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

That’s why I don’t share the hate of ESPN that a lot do. I don’t agree with how they coddle the SEC, but from purely the prospective of how good they are at reporting and broadcasting sporting events, they are still #1 by a large margin.

    • Sooner 76 says:

Their soccer announcing and color men/women are a complete joke. Amazing that you can listen to a game for 2 hours and hear almost no terms that are used in the sport. For example, when the ball over the sidelines, it does not go “out of bounds”. It goes “into touch.” JP kept saying, “It’s Germany’s ball”. It’s not their ball, it’s their throw.

The woman last night kept saying, “Her did this and her did that”. Really? What third class English class did you fail?

I often turn off the sound when Fox broadcasts a soccer game.

ESPN’s World Cup coverage last year, OTOH, was fabulous, as much as I hate their attempts to control CFB.

      • albsooner says:

’76 – I don’t think it was as bad at all, in fact the opposite. I played all the way through D1 college and consider myself a rather educated fan. I love to watch WC, Olympics, and EPL. I thought it was on par with the others for the most part. Some of the other non-US games weren’t as good, but the US games have been great with JP, Coach and Cat. They did a great job of making it interesting for the non-fan and casual fan.

For those that haven’t watched- you are missing out. The US Women are strong, courageous, and tough athletes. The WNT are representing our country well – in a time when we really need good ambassadors.

        #ibelieve

        • John Garner says:

Agree about the women. Truly tough.

        • Sooner 76 says:

You are entitled to your opinion, but IMO you are SO wrong, my friend. JP is the worst EVER! Detest him. They try so hard to dumb it down for casual fans and fail miserably.

The ESPN and EPL crews are fabulous.

Cat is illiterate. She is stupid. Coach is ok. I do like Dr. Joe. The offiiating in this tournament has been horrible. I’ve worked with women referees who are much better.

I played soccer for OU, played in Europe, have refereed and coached for many many years.

          • OohRah Mama says:

I like listening to Alexi Lalas; he was so much fun to watch play. Plus he’s so adorable. I rather miss his long hair & long semi-goatee (or whatever that was called) though…

      • Eric Hoffpauir says:

Plus you have to pay extra to get the channel that World Cup is on, not their regular Fox Sports channels.

      • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

They’re announcing to American fans, not British. There’s nothing wrong with saying, “It’s Germany’s ball”. It’s like saying, “Germany has possession (of the throw in).”

        • Sooner 76 says:

They try to dumb it down and fail.

        • OohRah Mama says:

But just because a team has the throw in doesn’t mean it’s that team’s ball. It wouldn’t hurt for the announcers to give bits of (correct) info so more Americans can broaden their knowledge and their view of the world and other sports. How many Americans know the difference between offsides in American Football and World Football offsides call? It’s a fascinating game to learn.

      • OohRah Mama says:

Ohmahgawd, Amen, Brother. I spend a good deal of any type televised game correcting the announcers – and American announcers not ballers are clueless and annoying as hell. I get they’re calling for many people who know little about soccer rules. But Cheese n fries, learn something about the sport you’re being paid to cover, and pass on some basic knowledge to the people listening. It’s not hard.

  • Finney56 says:

Jose Aldo has now pulled out of 5 title fights… FIVE! Not sure how you can claim to be the best when you don’t fight…

    • hemisooner says:

Easy when you beat the #2, #3, and #4 ranked fighters in your class

    • j l says:

How many people wanted to put cain as the pound for pound greatest when he was pulling out of title fights left and right?

Aldo has handily defeated the best in his division, AND guys that came down from 155.

hes got a takedown defense thats absurd, something like 95%, and has brutal muay thai. Jon jones is the only one as good as aldo, If you can think of someone better, love to hear that argument.

      • hemisooner says:

Aldo is on a different level than any 145er in the world. People don’t realize that Mendes is an unbelievable grappler and fighter and Aldo smoked him in the first fight and in the second took 4 out 5 rounds.

        • j l says:

I completely agree, and mendes is another level above the rest of the 45ers(except maybe frankie).

That 2nd mendes-aldo fight was fantastic.

  • John Garner says:

Kudos to Women’s Soccer. Great match, greater upset.

  • Jason Vos says:

    Alex Morgan >>>

  • Bill Duncan says:

As much slack as Boren gets, he isn’t off base. The Big-12 won’t have a future without expansion. That being said, it’s going to have to be the right teams to make it work.

    • HoustonSooner says:

I think the Bug 12 can pick any 2 teams they want. They have the 2 power teams being OU and Texas. And good mid level teams in TCU and Baylor so my opinion is to pick up a couple teams you think might benefit from BIG 12 and the money it would bring in. Memphis to is a dark horse would be right in the heart of SEC country and I think Houston is a sleeping giant as well. I know many people will not agree with me.

      • kt-raida says:

to be honest, and o know it’ll never happen but Arkansas and Nebraska would benefit from a big 12 move it would make the conference as stable as ever and i think Arky would at least enjoy the succ5 mizzou had in the big 12.

      • Boom says:

I’m in Houston too and they are not a player. I know some of the folks close to the program and they are a very long way away. I would open talks with Louie/Cinncy & UCF & Nebraska. I realize there is slim to no chance for Nebraska but I would engage conversations. Their home schedule is a joke.

        • HoustonSooner says:

While I agree they are a few years away I think they are closer then you think. Go back to the 80’s when they said Miami would never amount to much. I look at Houston kind of of that same light. With a decent revenue stream I bet they would make huge gains. I have a good friend inside the athletic department there. They are in the expansion talks there are folks in the Big 12 that are scared of losing the Houston market even more then what they have. I’m not saying Houston is the savior by any stretch. I just don’t hate the idea of them as some do.
As far Nebraska goes I’m not sure it would fall on deaf ears the fan base is not happy with the current league they have no rivals. But they lost that as well when Big 12 was North/South .

        • Stephen Dale says:

besides UCF, USF is needed to provide a natural rival for UCF ; same holds true for either Memphis / Cincy ,;San Diego St /Fresno St ; Tulane/ Georgia Southern. whatever additions are made must include access to the rich recruiting fields of California, Florida, Ohio , Georgia, Louisiana, etc ……

      • Cam says:

I like the idea of adding Cincy and Memphis. It’s a logical extension geographically and brings in two new markets for media and recruiting.

      • steveinok says:

It is true we could pick any non P5 team. I think the key for expansion is to identify the next TCU. Today, even the SEC would at least consider adding TCU to their conference. 10 years ago, they were fortunate the Mountain West wanted them. But five or 6 years later, they had blown up. Now they are a great addition. Who else could emulate what TCU did? I think Memphis or Colorado St have a chance. Memphis already has a strong basketball tradition. But CSU is stepping up big time. Still think Boise St would be a solid addition. Cincy would get us into Ohio and help WVU with a geographic rival. Houst…zzzz….oops fell asleep just typing the name…

I say wait 3 years, see if another TCU or two emerges, and perhaps a P5 team (like Nebraska) might decide the Big 12 is better for them.

But, we have ZERO chance, IMO, to snag an existing P5 team with no Big 12 network. And honestly, I don’t know if a Big 12 network would even be profitable–just know thep at it would make more than the LHN! Maybe ESPN will rebrand the LHN as the Big 12 Network soon. They have to do something. That is leaking money bigtime.

    • Stephen Dale says:

I think it is all a ‘smokescreen’ to placate the fans who are want to see OU go elsewhere .. Boren , the policitican, recognizes the best way to alleviate social pressure is to let people think their demands are being answered—even when they aren’t…….

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Haven’t been around for a while, so apparently I missed the renewed “OU to the SEC” narrative. Maybe I’m missing something, but I almost can’t believe anyone in the media would print that anymore….Seems to me OU has made abundantly clear they have absolutely no desire or intent whatsoever to be in the SEC.

    • EasTex says:

      Good to see your nic.
The horse wasn’t dead, it was playing possum.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Could have swore they killed that thing by now 😉

        • Sooner 4Ever says:

He’s only mostly dead – Miracle Max.

‘Tis but a scratch – The Black Knight

I’m not dead yet – Dead Body from Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

      • Sooner 4Ever says:

Can a horse play possum? Seems like that would violate some law of nature. I believe the scientific classification system specifically bans all inter-order mimicking… and if not, it should. You don’t see anyone entering a possum in the Kentucky Derby.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Among other things, leadership requires instincts, and our Big XII head honchos have none. It’s amazing to me that positioning ourselves with a ten team conference, w/o a championship game, would have been an ideal strategy as the new playoff era became a reality, especially when the other three power conferences were consistent in their transformations. Now, we’re in a race against time to reverse course in an attempt to solidify twelve teams plus a championship game for 2013. Big XII leadership has failed us and desperation is becoming very apparent.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Instincts are nothing but an irritation in someone’s small intestine. Don’t make decisions based on instincts.

    • John Garner says:

IDK about “instincts” but a “vision” would be appreciated.

    • boomersooner says:

Just to play devil’s advocate, what tune is sung by everybody if we got 2 teams in? If the champ didn’t boat race wiscy they might not make it in at all and that’s 1. A little better schedule probably puts another team in. We were close to getting 2 teams in. These are what ifs and none of it happened but what if? The landscape could have easily been conferences dumping to get to 10 since that would get you 2 teams in. All hypothetical but interesting

  • BigJoeBrown says:

Way excited for the Women heading to the World Cup Championship. NICE!!!

That sucks about Fox Sports…I enjoy any alternative to ESPN. Also, sucks about Jose Aldo. This is what drives me crazy about MMA.

  • rainydaze114 says:

Orange aside, those smoke gray Tennessee uniforms are nice.

  • Boom says:

Do we have a recruiting breakdown of Calvin Bundage? Since it’s slow on the recruiting trail, it would be nice to receive a position breakdown of our 2016 offers. I don’t care what position group, any would be helpful. Thanks

  • Jason Vos says:

Looks like Quinn Mittermeier is enrolled at OU. More OL depth

Still waiting on Austin Roberts and Lampkin

    • EasTex says:

      Excellent news, much appreciated.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

If I understand correctly, Lampkin has to wait until the fall semester when he isn’t allowed to enroll at UT then his LOI is null.

      • Jason Vos says:

Yeah Austin Roberts should be sometime at the end of July.

        Lampkin probably August

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

and Lampkin was redshirting anyway…only DT I can think of that didnt was Tommie

          • Jason Vos says:

Dont know why people were freaking out over Xavier Kelly. We are getting 2 extra DE’s in the 2015 class to go with the 3 we already got coming in that class. 4 If you count DeBerry. So thats 6 DE’s in the 2015 class

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

It’s June, recruiting is all we have.

          • Boom says:

I agree. I think Roberts is really going to be good. My hope is we are not out of it with Kelly until signing day.

          • Jason Vos says:

I’d like to get him too, but we have 6 DE’s signed in the 2015 class if you include DeBerry. I’m not worried at all

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

Hoping the staff is focused on Caleb Kelly instead(not same position of course)

  • KJ1123 says:

“Phil Knight to step down from role as Nike chairman.”….to be Oregon’s new Athletic Director….

  • lulzer says:

Aldo has a brusied rib and a strong fear of Connor. Very funny listening to Connor describe it.

  • j l says:

mendes is going to destroy connor. I honestly dont think he even needs to take him down to win this one. Chad’s hand speed is insane, and he hits like a truck.

    • hemisooner says:

Mendes will Connor down like GSP did Dan Hardy, another trash talking idiot that has no ground game

      • j l says:

He can if he wants, im just saying i think he can win the fight without doing it.

Connor is long, and precise, but i dont think hes fast enough for mendes.

        • hemisooner says:

Yeah mendes does have fast hands but he changes levels so well for that double leg. Plus Connor leaves his lead leg way out there for the easy takedown

  • Stephen says:

I’m assuming Phil Knight can now devote more time to Oregon athletics now.

Also, bad news about Fox Sports, seems like the Big 12 isn’t the only thing in shambles right now.

  • Tim A says:

  • Eli Kalika says:

The need for expansion isn’t there in my opinion. The big 12 is financially viable for now, and good candidates would be needed to justify the expansion. I am totally behind a new approach for marketing and advertizing though haha
