BOOMER!!!! Great FOOTBALL morning, fellow Brainiacs!! I’m really liking USAF’s helmets.

  • Cush Creekmont says:

Usual good job and early Monday News Jordan!

Q&A tonight, I’ve got money on an Alvarez question. 🙂

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

      I question your question.

    • Cush Creekmont says:

      Howdy Ray!

      • Sooner Ray says:

        Howdy Cush.

      • SamSooner says:

Morning, Cush. I’m all official now: Car rental: check. Hotel: check. Flight: check. Game tickets: check.

        • Dick Bump says:

The toughest part is still to come ….getting across Norman with all of the street repairs.

          • SamSooner says:

Dick, I live in Ohio: they’ve been doing construction on I-77, I-71, I-76, and Route 8 since I moved here in 1995. Not to mention the potholes and the patch work repair that is caused by the snow plows.

I should feel right at home.

          • Dick Bump says:

Even for the experienced, I’d pack extra water, a donut or two, and spare batteries for your pacemaker. It’s going to be interesting to see the traffic flow. Fortunately, I can walk to the campus and crawl home if need be.

          • SamSooner says:

I’ll be coming from OKC. I’ll be looking to avoid all of the traffic going to the stadium.

          • Dick Bump says:

If you come early and enjoy the festivities around campus corner, you’ll be OK getting here. Going back after the game might be a challenge.

          • SamSooner says:

Until I experience it, I won’t know what to expect in Norman. However, we go to Columbus every year to catch a tOSU game. That atmosphere is crazy. Getting back to the freeway is a beast. I hope I can manage this traffic.

          • Dick Bump says:

It should be a good one. I think there’s a good chance ESPN Gameday will be here for the game.

          • SamSooner says:

Sure thing. It’s going to be wild.

          • BoomerShauner says:

Take I-240 to 77H, or S Sooner Rd. When you get into Nompton, hang a right on Constitution, then start scouring for a parking place. You’ll hit a little traffic. But not as much as you would with I-35. Good luck.

          • SamSooner says:

            Thanks, Boomer!

        • Cush Creekmont says:

Hey Sam! You guys just have to get through the next few weeks (and get us through Houston)

          • SamSooner says:

It’ll be a cake walk. I told EasTex about a dream I had about 10 years ago. I’ll have to share it with you one of these days.

    • SamSooner says:

Nah, my bet is Joe Mixon. Why isn’t he in the picture?

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

BOOMER!!! Thanks for the Q&A feature. Should be a lot of fun!

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Town hall tonight! I’ll bring the casserole

  • paganpink says:

Man with that new big screen and sound system we are gonna JUMP AROUND! BOOMER!

  • SamSooner says:

As for tonight’s town hall, yes folks, there will be stupid questions. LOL!

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I think my ? Will have be what’s up with Alvarez, Lampkin, and linebackers?

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

The offensive line scares me but linebackers doesn’t really bother me. Every year we need to replace a LB I always worry then remember the Stoops bros can coach them some lbs. was pleased to read that Curtis B stepped up during the scrimimage!

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Perhaps Alvarez is best being left at guard?

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I don’t care who starts I just want the best guys rolled out. I thought for sure we would have 3 starters coming back but oh well.

  • Scott says:

I like the Air Force helmets.

    • DrewChubbs says:

Me too! Looks like the nose art on the Hog (A-10) that the Air Force is trying to retire. Completely off-topic, but I love the Hog and the unmistakable, “BRRRRRRRRRT!”

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Chokelahoma is the worst thing I’ve ever heard. I can’t stand that term, makes me want to drop someone ?
Won $413 on the roulette table this weekend, now for some serious Sooner gear. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and get metzed up!

    • SoonerMagic76 says:

That’s the best part of extra money: more Sooner gear!

    • Stephen Dale says:

win some key, important playoff games and the moniker will evaporate for awhile…its been a looooooooooong dry spell in this area ( since the 2000 NC) ….

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I don’t know about the moniker. Is only used when we lose title games? I recall people using it when we lost meaningless bowl games (Boise St/WV/Texas A&M/Clemson 2014). I think it’s really unfair and should not be repeated. If someone is going to call OU out for choking in these games, I want them to give credit for winning games against Stanford, Iowa and Uconn in the 3-1 Landry Jones era! What’s fair is fair.

As for losing title games, the only resemblance to a choke was against LSU. OU was favored and were better. Everybody in the world thinks that USC was one of the greatest and we were dogs against Florida. So why are we given that name? Ohio St has lost title games as well…

      • ZW_in_Austin says:

I disagree. There have been many key regular season and post season wins that are overlooked.

      • Malicong says:

That is the problem right there. If OU needs to win NC’s to not be a choker, what does that make other teams who are barely good enough to compete for one once a decade let alone actually win one. That would include every B1G team outside of Ohio State, every ACC team outside of Florida State, every PAC team outside of USC, every SEC team but Florida, LSU, Auburn (and even that was just one year), and Alabama. There are only a handful of team that even get the chance to play in those big games and OU has won just as many of the big ones as they have lost.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Thanks malicong 🙂 you couldn’t have said it better. Lots of teams would trade their success for ours.

    • Dick Bump says:

Gambling winnings for me have never been extra money. The money just comes to live with me for awhile and then goes back home.

    • SamSooner says:

$413. I’ll be over to help you spend that money. LOL!

  • ou1168 says:

Guys I will be in a meeting this evening could somebody please ask about the punt return situation . Remind them that we ranked in the 100s in punt returns and it always looks like our guys just stand up and don’t block or rush the punter everytime.
Also if somebody would ask why we burn redshirt years just for 7 meaningless plays I would love to hear the answer to also …thanks in advance.

    • Sooner Ray says:

I hope coach Stoops remembers his Disqus login. 🙂

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

On top of that, not being ready for a fake punt against Clemson! At least prepare for a fake if we are running punt safe!

    • Bob Edwards says:

We did not rank in the 100s in punt returns. We finished 74th in the NCAA and 4th in the Big 12 in punt returns. Those aren’t elite numbers, but they are certainly not as bad as people try to make out.

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

    Good morning everyone

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

Thanks for bringing home three BOOMS while I was in Haiti last week. Hope everyone is doing well. Have a blessed day!

  • Matt says:

Perine and Mixon aren’t really a thunder and lightning duo. They’re more like a thunder and thunder and lightning duo. 🙂

    • Mark_in_VA says:

I call them thunder and even bigger thunder.

    • Randy says:

I was watching last year TT game last night and it is a perfect game to show really how good these guys are (I know it was TT but still).. Perine’s speed is so underrated and Mixon’s power is real.. We better enjoy these two this year !!

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I think those two will return next year with Mayfield.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

I doubt we get all three back. Only reason Perine comes back would be b/c he isn’t going to get ahead of a couple of other running backs on the draft board. No idea what the next draft class would look like.

        • Randy says:

Now that would be special, I expect if they do OU did not have a good year. Fully expect Perine to go either way.

      • Dick Bump says:

I liked the OSU game also. They were unstoppable.

    • HoustonChiver says:

I call them smash and grab, because that’s how they score

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Very enjoyable listen – 4th quarter and OT radio call for OU vs Tennessee

  • cush creekmont says:

Get to work to get back to the news and find….

    Metz, Metz? your que….

  • BoomerShauner says:

    Two things:
    1. Is there anyone better at shedding screen blocks than Will Johnson?

    2. Even today, that OSU DB still thinks Westbrook is running a route.

3(Bonus). “…Oklahoma invented it.” – can we get t-shirts made?

  • AltoidSooner says:

Anyone else unable to get to the Landgrant gauntlet article? Link opens for me but nothing happens.

    • J.r. Kamm says:

Yep, story won’t open for me either.

    • Kevin Burger says:

The gist is that “chokelahoma” is largely without merit, because in the 2000’s OU was consistently a preseason top 10 team, but only twice finished the season further than 3 positions away from their preseason ranking. Granted those were tough years, but still.

  • j l says:

Walker has a kid? ya, he gone.

  • Steve Harris says:

Wow. TFB making leaps forward. Thanks, Jordan, K. Getting reports from OU camp are a dream come true.
