Thanks again to the TFB crew for all of the info and this venue. Plus, for keeping it free. No reason for me to sign-up for anyone’s “deal”. Also, to my fellow board members for pretty much maintaining great discussions. Boomity boom boom boom !!

Good Morning ALL!!!!! Did everyone enjoy the light show last night?

Loooooooong time lurker. Was on the ESPN Board years ago before it imploded. Was then on a number of sites when on the Scout free board and I kept noticing more and more posts indicating that “the guys at the Brainiacs are reporting . . .” or “TFB just broke . . .” I finally checked it out a few years ago and have been lurking every since.

I have been flushed out of the luker’s shadow because I am really curious about the ILB position. Anyone know if we could possibly land Hines AND Phillips (in addition to Draper), or are they more of an “or” proposition. Amazing athleticism and physicality if we can land all three of them.

  • OUhound says:

Its a long time until signing day for 2017. Sure hope that Lamb stays put this time. He’ll be a star.

  • BoomCity89 says:

    39 DTG!! Boom!!

With all the greatness that comes with the Oklahoma Sooners, there’s also heartbreaks. OU wouldn’t let a team come into Norman and beat them but after 39 straight wins at home, tech put a stop to the greatness. Let’s get back to the days that opponents feared coming to Norman each and every game. With our team now and how great our future looks, we can easily get back to those days of “Fear Norman”. We currently have a streak of 6 wins in a row at home, lets make it 40 in a row!

    • Walter Sobcek says:

Indeed. I long for the days when a visiting team traveling to Memorial Stadium had already mentally tabbed it as a loss. A win over Ohio State will help return that mystique.

  • hOUligan says:

Top o’ the FOOTBALL AM to all ya’ll TFBs!! Next BOOM? I’m going w big Xavier. Who ya got?

  • ALar03 says:

just throwing out my opinion but to me it seems like Stidham will choose from Florida, Auburn and the Gaggies..

    • Dick Bump says:

I read where their new coach indicated Stidham left Baylor because of competition…spin, spin, spin.

    • UGA Sooner says:

I could see gaggies. After Knight leaves, he’s guaranteed the starting spot. Granted, he’s probably guaranteed the starting spot at all 3 of those, but my money is on A&M

    • Boom says:

Interesting, Stidham is committed to TT. Then he gets a brand new truck just before signing day and commits to Baylor. I just find this interesting.

  • metzker says:

The Bayer crop Germans have invaded my job site.keep it real.and get the count up!!!!!!!!!!———————–

  • Dick Bump says:

Come on back, Bandy. There’s still time to get some BBQ..

  • Matt says:

sounds like the coaches feel good about their chances with Okudah, as awesome as that is, are they going hardest after Boyce or Jaylon Johnson to pair with him? Is Johnson a fallback for if they miss out on Okudah?

  • Daryl says:

With all the new faces on Defense I am just curious what you guys think.

Who will be leading tackler on defense?
    Who will be sack leader?
Who be the biggest surprise on defense?

    • BoomCity89 says:

      Jordan Evans
      DJ Ward
      Tay Evans

      • SoonerFan92 says:

I’m fine with Ward being the sack leader, but what makes you believe that he will be ahead of Walker or Obo or another outside linebacker when he hasn’t seen much time at all? Again, I’m just curious as to why you chose him.

        • BoomCity89 says:

To be honest, I’ve been waiting for Ward to erupt ever since he stepped onto campus. He’s silently been one of my favorite players, even though the production has not been there. I’m hoping that after finally being 100% healthy and getting a few games under his belt later year that he can turn into the player I always thought he could be. It’s now or never! Maybe I should’ve put him as my “biggest surprise” haha.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I was extremely high on him when he signed with the Sooners. Can’t wait to see him this year.

          • Dick Bump says:

He played pretty well last year. Didn’t have huge stats, but he had an impact when he played.

    • BackWhenOUBoysCabbagePatched says:

      – Jordan Evans
      – Kelly =^)
      – Kelly

    • Birddawg says:

      Nice question.
      1) Jordan Evans, new tackling machine
      2) Rodriguez, I like his story.. he played well in spring game..
      3) PJ Mbansor, if he’s a hungry dog he will have plenty of opportunities to make plays

    • Jordan says:

Evans- he will be an animal this year.
Walker- other D-lineman will step up, allowing him to shine
Mark Jackson- I think he will get at least 4 sacks

    • DCtitan42 says:

      Tackles: Evans
      Sacks: Obo
      Surprise: PJ

    • Dana Rogers says:

      As advertised? Caleb Kelly

    • ACR says:

      Tackles – Jordan Evans
Sacks – Obo. I’m thinking big things this year from him
Surprise – Romar. Dude’s a beast. Pairing him with Walker is a problem for opposing O’s

      • ACR says:

Also think Tay Evans is in for a surprise year too. Was skeptical when we signed him that it was just an in for his brother Bobby… but TE looked good in the spring game and IMO has a higher ceiling than Dom.

      • ACR says:

Baylor suspends 2 JUCO linemen who were potential starters

     June 7, 2016

FILE – In this Dec. 5, 2015, file photo, Baylor helmets on shown the field after an NCAA college football game in Waco, Texas. Baylor University will look to rebuild its reputation and perhaps its football program after an outside review found administrators mishandled allegations of sexual assault and the team operated under the perception it was above the rules.

The Baylor football team got more bad news with the suspensions of two top linemen who might have started for the Bears this season.

A difficult situation with the Baylor football program keeps getting worse as two highly regarded junior-college linemen from the Bears’ 2016 recruiting class have been suspended, according to Baylor247.com.

Offensive guard B.J. Autry and defensive tackle Jeremy Faulk were suspended Tuesday for a violation of team rules. There is no word on whether they are still part of the program.

Autry, who played at Coffeyville Community College, signed with Baylor over top programs like Florida, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Arizona State. The Alabama native was a four-star recruit, the No. 1 guard in the juco ranks, and committed to the Gators at one point.

Faulk, a three-star recruit from Hastings, Fla., started his career at Florida Atlantic before transferring to Garden City C.C. The later bloomer was named National Junior College Defensive Player of the Year after making 85 tackles, including 18.5 for loss, with 7.5 sacks.

Autry and Faulk were both part of Baylor’s line rotations in spring practice and had a chance to start at depleted positions.

Baylor already has up to eight members of its 2016 class still not enrolled as they are pursuing releases from their Letter of Intent following the sex scandal that led to Art Briles’ ouster as coach.

With up to eight members of Baylor’s 2016 class still not enrolled as they await a decision regarding a release of their Letter of Intent, the news regarding the two junior college prospects could be even more damaging with both expected to be contributors their first season on campus.

Most of Baylor’s 2017 commitments already have backed out, as well.

  • Jordan says:

Brandon, K, Jordan, or someone with much better knowledge of the situation than most of us have, what chances do we have of getting:
    Marvin Wilson
    Anthony Hines
    K’Lavon Chaisson
    Jeffrey Okudah
    Greg Rogers
That is my personal defensive wishlist.

    • SoonerFan92 says:

      Yes.

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

      My personal opinion.
      Wilson 25%
      Hines 70%
      Okudah 60%
      Chaisson 80%
      Rogers 25%

    • SoonerFan92 says:

In all honesty I think that we will get Hines, Chaisson, Okudah, Rogers, Phillips and another DB. But if Wilson sees all of these people jumping on board then our shot with him will increase greatly. He and Chaisson have spoken about the possibility of playing together at the next level.

      • Jordan says:

I tend to agree with you here, I feel pretty good with where we sit with Hines, Chaisson, and Okudah. At least from what I can tell from reading this site and looking at Twitter. I do think those guys, along with Lamb and Co. could convince Wilson that he needs to come here. If they managed to get those four, I truthfully would not even care what the rest of the offensive recruits looked like, the defense would be stacked.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

        Agree completely

    • Jordan Esco says:

I don’t do %s and not big on predictions, but I’ll play along as best I can.

      Wilson – decent-ish
      Hines – pretty good
      Chaisson – really good
Okudah – little better than pretty good (right now)
      Rogers – decent-ish

      • Jordan says:

Thanks Jordan. It does seem like a good sign that we are at least in on these people

        • SoonerFan92 says:

Jeremy Crabtree from ESPN (I believe) said last night that a rival coach in the BIGXII told him that this might be Stoops’ best class ever, FWIW.

      • BackWhenOUBoysCabbagePatched says:

Interesting. So our chances of landing Okudah are better than our chances of landing Hines (at least at the moment).

      • metzker says:

        -ish is good!

      • Randy says:

So, where do they go if no Wilson or Rogers which is definitely a possibility, Watts, Bethley.. How big of a gap is that from Wilson and Rogers ? Any others true DTs they are looking at ?

        • Scott says:

          Fred Hansield, top 10 DT.

          • Randy says:

Havent heard anything on him lately, but yeah would be great.

          • Scott says:

Kid is from New Jersey , another kid OU just needs to get on campus to see where we stand with him.

          • Randy says:

Yeah, true. Looks like FL right now but never know. We honestly might be a year away from getting a big time DE or DT like ’18 class just because of what is on campus now. Not from our (OU fans) view but a 17yr old that thinks he can and maybe he can come in right away and play day one..

        • SoonerFan92 says:

Also the Conliffe kid is another to keep an eye on.

      • Soonerbred says:

Hopefully not the ish of death.

      • Scott says:

We just need to get Greg Rodgers on campus. Once he gets that full on OU experience, this dude will sign with OU.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I was scoping out his Twitter and he was tweeting at K’Lavon and big Marv saying he hopes to see them soon and a few wink faces and stuff. I’m pretty sure we are the only school who is common amongst them.

          • Scott says:

Yup , his relationship with Coach T and SS17 seems pretty close. It’s a must to get him on campus.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

We both know we are positive so we just need to keep those vibes going Scott.

          • Scott says:

Yup , right now im trying to decide if OU should go all out for Addison Gumbs or Baron Browning.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Well now I hate to do a complete 180 but I believe the ship has sailed with browning. I think it’s more of a scheme fit and the fact we are landing Hines to go along with Draper. Had we not signed Caleb last year then Baron would probably look at us a little harder but as of now, I don’t believe we are really in the mix anymore.

          • Scott says:

Gotcha , You think Gumbs is good enough to play the OLB or do you think OU could put Phillips at the OLB postion? Im assuming Chaisson will be playing the Striker position, we just need a guy to play the other OLB position.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I think Chaisson could put on a TON of good weight seeing how he’s already 6’4″. Maybe they slide him to a DE??

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

3/4 ends need to be run stoppers and big azz bodies. Chaisson is a freak athlete and we need him flying off the edge at the Jack position.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Just look at the kid the Bears took with their first pick. Kid is so raw but they drafted him almost solely on frame, quickness and potential.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I believe that Phillips could easily play that Lb spot that Caleb will hold down once he’s gone. Chaisson will certainly be that Jack position with Mark Jackson.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

He was also the one telling Wilson to commit when McCoy was giving Big Marv shout outs on Twitter that night.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

How did my creeping azz miss that? Lol that’s certainly great news. Gerald understands the game and we need him playing with these big fellas hearts!

          • SoonerFan92 says:

Which part did you miss? McCoy talking to Marv, or Rogers telling Marv to commit?

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Was this a couple months back? That I think I saw but if it was recent then I missed both aspects of the interaction between those 3.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I think it was a little over a month, yeah.

      • StL Sooner says:

        LMAO!
How does that fence fell up in your junk?
        Love ya, Jordan!

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Throw Joseph Lewis into the mix along with Tramonda and id be beyond happy with that haul.

      • Jordan says:

I have seen Joseph Lewis’ name several times on here, I did not realize he is that high on us. Did he say something about it?

  • Travis Hill says:

Now she’s suing Joe. Figured it was just a matter of time.

    • Okie403 says:

Did you notice the venue and the court?

    • KJ1123 says:

Yeah I dont really think she wanted to, but I’m sure she was getting approached by attorneys constantly.

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

How do you sue someone for retaliating?

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

If a jury gets to watch the video then he’s screwed. Whether he is retaliating or not he’ll lose the case. IMO.

      • KJ1123 says:

Attorneys just want to get the tape released so they can attach a dollar amount. She doesn’t even want the video released.

        • Birddawg says:

But I’m sure she wants the $$ to cover her medical expenses.
If the states statue of limitations was a little longer ( 3 yrs now I think).. Joe would be making $$ in NFL and they could just settle.. move on..
Her lawyer had to get the process started and now the tape may be released.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

My hope is that this season will be complete before his appearance happens that way he’ll have already declared for the NFL. He needs to get there ASAP.

        • Dick Bump says:

I’m not sure he wouldn’t be better off staying broke as a college student for another year. You can’t get blood out of a turnip.

    • Dick Bump says:

Wonder if Trammel is getting a cut for services rendered.

  • Katyboomer says:

If and it’s a big if ( which I don’t want to happen) Coach Lincoln Riley moves on to a head job after this season, would you take Kendal Briles as OC or you think Gundy gets it? I know everyone is going to think no way would we take Briles, but I have to say his offensive works plus has the track record ( a lot of it’s his dad’s) and the ties to Texas coaching we would want. If not Briles then who? I really don’t think Riley is going anywhere, but just something to talk about during off season.

    • cdzendolet says:

I wouldn’t want to touch any of the Briles’ with a 10 foot pole. Don’t want the stink of them anywhere near this program, no matter what their offensive prowess is. Bob knows better than that

      • Katyboomer says:

LOL, should be fun to watch. I would like to see who everyone would want as the OC if LR takes a HC next year.

        • MoJoOkie says:

I think with recruiting and the offensive players we have in place that you would want to stay with a similar offense. Briles would never get a shot though. Off the top of my head I can’t really say, other than the two down at TCU. There’s always a list in Bob or Joe’s pocket I’m sure.

          • Katyboomer says:

Yeah, I was not real sure on LR when we got him. As it turns out Stoops made another of his many great hires. I think Stoops last couple of hires have been great. I hope Thibbs turns out to be a great hire as well.

          • MoJoOkie says:

I think the question mark on Thibs was recruiting. Not that he couldn’t, just not enough of a track record. His forte was in working with the guys and teaching technique. My personal guess is that he will be a good one and will get better with age.

          • Boom says:

I would let him go a couple of times with Cooks or Gundy, then I think he will be all set. 🙂

          • Katyboomer says:

Seems like Gundy is not getting much credit for bring in any of the WR this year. I know he is in charge over all the player’s they go after, but seems he is more in the background this year or at least not getting the credit.

          • Boom says:

He got the TE’s. Also, I think he’s in charge of recruiting for OU football.

          • Katyboomer says:

Yeah, I was not real sure on LR when we got him. As it turns out Stoops made another of his many great hires. I think Stoops last couple of hires have been great. I hope Thibbs turns out to be a great hire as well.

    • Drew says:

No need to hire him, he’ll sneak onto our sideline anyway. No need to waste a paycheck.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

There is no way in hell David Boran would allow that to happen, in addition Bob and Joe C are highly respected in regards to character just don’t see that happening. But maybe an SEC team….

    • roygbell says:

Don’t think it would ever happen as OU doesn’t want to send that message. If it did, I would let the season tickets I have had for close to a half a century. The name Briles is going to be toxic for the next few years. I don’t want OU to have anything to do with a Briles and don’t think that David or Joe does either.

  • Katyboomer says:

What do you all think of this formation for the Offense? The Diamond back formation with

Rodney Anderson, Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. The Def would go into heavy set, then you motion two of the three out to WR so the LBs have to cover them ( mismatch) and you can either run a wheel with the lone set RB ( ILB would have to cover) or any number of plays out of it, All three have great hands plus I hear the Freshman RB has great hands as well.

    • Birddawg says:

I personally like the 2 RB shotgun set w/ Andrews.
The multiplicity of Mixon going to the slot and blocking for perine… and Andrews flex slot and coming in to block.. would be a incredibly balanced attack.
      Hinges on,
      Andrews ability to block
      Mixons ability to block/routes.
Go fast, pressure the defense all over the field.

      • Katyboomer says:

Yeah you know LR is looking forward to what he can do with this team this year. I know our over all O Line should be better this year, but do any of you have some concern with the lack of PT in D1 ball?

    • MikeyBoom says:

BEAUTIFUL. I use that formation on NCAA 13 all the time. Lol the rosters updated recently so its even funner

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I think that sounds better than it would be. This isn’t a video game we are talking about lol.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Although I do enjoy your creativity:)

    • Matt says:

I love it man, the next evolution in football is to go full-on triple option runs out of spread formation. As the pendulum of defense swings to the pass, someone is going to look very smart when they use those same formations to dominate in the run game.

      • Katyboomer says:

I like it. Maybe when KM can play next year we will have a package like that.

        • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Are you saying that he beats out Mayfield next year ??

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I think he means something akin to a Wild cat or the Bell Dozer!

          • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Ah ok that make sense. I took it as KM was going to beat out BM. But your way makes way more sense.

    • Wood says:

could you imagine running a sweep with those 3 and being the corner and see that almost 700lbs coming at you at 4.5 pace, no lineman could help you lol.

  • Jdizzle says:

I hope you people don’t accost Thibs when Wilson doesn’t come here. He was always a long shot. With him taking a random Tuesday visit to Texas, that says a lot about his interest there, versus not coming to the BBQ says a lot about his interest here (in my opinion).

    • KJ1123 says:

He’s not visiting Texsa anymore. Supposedly going to reschedule. But I hear ya.

    • SWoods says:

      No longer visiting Texsa

    • SoonerFan92 says:

He’s also a lot closer to Austin than he is Norman, which allows him to make those random mid-week visits.

    • Matt says:

I agree but there is still a long ways to go in his recruitment. Being in the top 5 now, they have plenty of time to make up the ground to land his signature. If they show up this season like I think they will, its going to make his decision very hard, or easy depending on how much he really does like OU at this point.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

Not at all, it crazy to see the excitement on the DL when Thib’s has only been here a few months. He hasn’t had ample time to lay his roots or coach is squad. I am curious about “technique”. We saw improvement and focused technique with Renolds, would like to see that continued with Thibideux.

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Soooo, can I get that answer of how was my comment negative the other day?

    • Dick Bump says:

I’m surprised too, although I hope his big year is coming.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I mean he did only catch 19 balls last year. Sure 7 of them were TD’s but I think this year he goes bananas.

  • SoonerFan92 says:

Tweets are showing up for me now!!! *knocks on wood*

  • Katyboomer says:

I bet Metz is having withdraws today, LOL

    • KJ1123 says:

Someone should msg him on twitter and tell him double boom about to happen. He’ll be on here in no time.

      • SoonerFan92 says:

Plus that prank would be the cherry on top of getting him back for the fake OP.

      • Matt says:

        http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-u/defense-film-study-u/2016/07/22/derek-barnett-interior-pass-rusher/

Curious on your thoughts about this article KJ, they basically do a whole article on how TENN’s Barnett dominated Alvarez last year. Do you think he made significant progress from this game to the end of the season? You think Alvarez is ready for the big time?

        • MoJoOkie says:

Alverez’s second start and third game played in. It’s a heck of a lot easier to mature as a DL than it is OL. I would say he will be quite a bit better this year than last.

        • KJ1123 says:

I agree, Barnett owned Alvarez that game. Barnetts really good. But in all fairness, the whole OL was having issues that game. Next to Clemson, that was the best front that they faced. They all made significant progress, but I haven’t really watched Alvarez at center either, other than a few snaps here and there.

          • Matt says:

gotcha, one of the comments in the article was that Alvarez was too eager to make contact and Barnett used that to catch him off balance. I know literally nothing about o-line play but that sounds like more of a technique issue than anything to me.

          • KJ1123 says:

That’s true, not patient enough, he lunged alot, feet were out of position alot. I’m sure nerves were at an all time high during that game.

  • j l says:

B/R did an article yesterday on most expensive ticket prices for next seasons games. Im sure you all can guess what was #1. $342 average ticket price lol. Insane for a regular season game.

Some of these recruting outlets crack me up. If someone other than an OU recruit commits its, “All American ESPN 300 recruit commits to….” or “Breaking down ESPN 300 players commitment to..”. When it’s one of our guys it’s simply “WR commits to OU” end of story.

What’s hilarious is the fact they don’t realize this offense is about to be more deadly than that 08 offense ?

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

That’s a lot to live up to. 2 1,000 yard rushers and 4,000 yards passing? 5 straight end of season 60+ points games? Averaged 50 points a game! I hope you’re right.

          • OUhomer4life says:

We have the ability for 2 rushers over 1k and the other depends on the receivers catching the ball!

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Bradford was better than Baker on the deep ball though. 08: Iglesias, Johnson, Broyles, Q Chaney…Gresham the mismatch…

2016: Westbrook, Andrews, then a committee?

Interested to see where Stidham ends up. Thinking college station.

    • MoJoOkie says:

Does he have to sit a year? If so, that would be a reasonable choice for him.

      • Jofield says:

My understanding is that the release means he does not have to sit a year as long as he leaves the Big XII.

        • MoJoOkie says:

OK, that would mean he has to compete with Knight. From what I’ve seen (and I like TK), he has the better upside. Might come down to how atm wants to run their offense. Would for sure allow them to run TK without having to worry about a backup like we did.

        • j l says:

NCAA rules dictate he has to sit a year. If he tries to go to a big 12 school, itll cost him 2 years(like they did with mayfield before the rule change).

Only way you can skip the year is be a graduate transfer, or get some kind of exception from the NCAA.

      • Jofield says:

My understanding is that the release means he does not have to sit a year as long as he leaves the Big XII.

    • Randy says:

Auburn would be a good fit.

    • Brent says:

If he has to sit a year he should look at UCLA

    • Brien Brown says:

A long shot and not real sure they would even ask him if he would be intrigued. But Tulsa, with Phillip Montgomery there could be an option however, I think Stidham was a Kendall Briles recruit and Chad President was Phillip Montgomery’s guy and once Stidham was on board President went looking elsewhere. He was a great sign for Montgomery once he came to TU. Kid has only played little behind Evans.

    • Oscar says:

He should transfer to Houston,…………right before they announce that they are Big 12 bound.

Not sure how to post a link which sounds silly but it’s not wanting to come across. However, Ole Miss has another player who was detained for domestic violence. He was an early-enrollee & 4* DE that did well in the spring. Curious what Freeze does with this and also interested in how ESPN will air this info.

    • NoconaNugget7 says:

First, hope its not true. Innocent till proven guilty. But violence against women (domestic, assault, or sexual) is something even ESecPN can’t “tame” anymore. Anything else…well, I imagine it this way. Bristol has an epic compost heap that they just keep dumping all the SEC rotten apples/crap into. Its one big ass compost heap.

      • SWoods says:

KJ, I know we’re pretty full at the WR position, but do we have space to take Omar if we don’t land Lewis?

        • KJ1123 says:

I think we take 4 tops. I still don’t think Lewis gets out of LA but Riley up in Neb has success in Cali as well. Im sure they’ll hold a spot for him if we’re getting his OV.

        • Brien Brown says:

They said in the post yesterday that they don’t think OU is done at WR, depending on the #’s. I’d say Lewis and Manning are both guys still on OU’s radar at WR.

  • bommer85 says:

if we sign 26 players in this class(we are at 16 now, lets assume all of them stay) who do you think would fill the last 10 spots??

    1. Xavier Newman, C,OG
    2. Chaisson, DE/OLB
    3. Anthony Hines, LB
    4. Deonte Watts, DT
    5. Tramonda Moore, OG/OT(this spot could be ealy or filaga)
    6. Okudah, DB/S
    7. Mystery DT, I don’t think we get rogers or marvin wilson
    8. hunter echols. DE
    9. Jaylon Johnson, CB
    10. Jacob Phillips, LB

    • Jesse says:

This is the 10 you think the good guys will get?

    • KJ1123 says:

Just getting Hines AND Okudah would be incredible imo.

      • bommer85 says:

I agree…i hope the magic continues and it happens. What do you think KJ? What are our chances landing both or any of the above guys?

        • KJ1123 says:

Both guys not great in all honesty, one of them i’d say 50%. Just being realistic, I dont know when the last time we landed two 5 stars if ever.

          • bommer85 says:

haha good point, i think we have had a few classes with one 5 star but never 2.

          • KJ1123 says:

BUT this class is turning into something special in the rankings and as a group, so you never know.

          • bommer85 says:

if this season goes really well it could end up being an insane class. handle business on the field and it will all be fine

          • soonerSD says:

Exactly, if we go thru the first half of our schedule unscathed… Houston, OhSU, TCU and Texas the recruiting momentum would be thru the roof. Basically own the state of Texas and beat OSU at home in OUr new stadium in front of the the biggest recruits in the country. Would do wonders for closing out ’17 and would probably make ’18 take off from a recruiting standpoint.

          • SoonerJake says:

We actually signed 3 in 2004: Peterson, Bomar, and Chris Patterson.

          • bommer85 says:

Four 5 stars. Hell of a class on paper.

          • DrepDuSelv says:

I know AD was #1 and Bomar was top 5 so probably 2004

          • bommer85 says:

well one of them turned out ok…

          • KJ1123 says:

Heard a funny story about Bomar this weekend from someone who grew up with him and played for his dad. My friend said Bomar was all in to go to Texsa and his dad flat out told him as long as that guy is here (Young) you will never sniff the field.

          • soonerSD says:

Bomar and AD is the last time I recall it happening

    • Dustin says:

Six guys would have to transfer/go pro for us to sign that many. We’re currently at 81 scholarships for ’17.

      • bommer85 says:

true. but if i was basing this list on reality it may look a little different anyway haha

      • Lane Gilstrap says:

        I could see that happening.

        • bommer85 says:

i could too, 3 transfers and thomas parker walker go pro

          • soonerSD says:

and prolly at least one out of Perine/Mixon I would think

          • bommer85 says:

yup good point…but i am hoping at least one stays. perine might have to go just based on mileage. this mixon lawsuit isn’t helping out on him staying imo

          • Brien Brown says:

I read somewhere that Mixon, had to give Stoops through at least his red-shirt Junior year before he could leave as part of the deal. Get his degree in 4 and all. But, if that is that is the case Mixon will be back and IMO the lawsuit may make him stay to get himself more money at the next level.

          • BoomCity89 says:

I do think Perine should go, especially after all the carries he already has. But he also seems to be a guy that will stay all 4 years in school to get his degree.

I would think Mixon would have to return for another year. With his past, I don’t see too many teams taking a chance on him. He needs 2 more years to prove himself on and off the field.

          • soonerSD says:

I agree with your assessment on Perine and feel the guy could go either way for the reasons you mentioned.

As far as, Mixon… I could also see it going the other way. If Mixon has a really strong season (which I believe he will due to a stronger Oline and Mayfield having another year and his belt) he will be 3 full years removed from the incident and from what I’ve read he’s been a good student athlete ever since. Also, he was said to be a strong character kid before with no prior trouble. I think he’ll be stronger/faster, understand the game better, and play himself right in to being a first or second rounder in next years draft. If all this happens I could see the kid wanting to go ahead and distance himself from Norman for a while and start trying to make a name for himself elsewhere. I do commend him for sticking it out her though. Could not have been an easy decision having just turned 18 in a new city/state.

          • Lane Gilstrap says:

            Joe Mixon, possibly Samaje Perine

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Parker JT and Walker on D probably will and Mixon and Perine on O

      • SoonerJake says:

I only count 78, unless we’ve awarded a couple to walk-ons that I’m not aware of. Besides, you have to project that youll lose at least a half dozen kids to early draft entree, transfer, weed, etc. 26 is probably about right.

      • j l says:

Perine, mixon, walker, parker and thomas are all likely NFL candidates. Even if say 2 of them leave, 4 transfers wouldnt be unheard of.

      • SoonerFan92 says:

Is that also counting Humphries and Todd?

    • Brien Brown says:

Think we have a better chance at K’Lavon Chaisson I think is a kid that could give us a boom this weekend. Probably wishful thinking, also I’d add Browning and Manning to the list instead of Echols or Johnson. Moore no way replace him with Boyce.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Lawyers probably telling her to cash grab.

      They like money too

    • KJ1123 says:

Of course, sue the city of Norman for licensing them in the first place while you’re at it.

    • BoomCity89 says:

Without hearing any details, if I was a father of a daughter who was punched by a male… I would continue to push until I felt justice was made.

I’m not saying anyone was right or wrong in this situation, I just understand where they’re coming from. Unfortunately it has to do with an OU player who is a tremendous player.

      • rphokc says:

what if you owned the business

      • Lane Gilstrap says:

She acts like she played no part in the whole thing. He didn’t just walk up to her and lay her out. What happened to the days when you got your ass kicked you just took it and went on. Now the losers of the fight think they have the right to sue.

        • Sooner Ray says:

She “has” to act that part. Taking any responsibility as decent human being does nothing for her case.

          • Lane Gilstrap says:

I mean, like I said, it’s not like he just walked up to her and knocked her out. She assaulted him twice. She just wasn’t charged with anything because of her gender.

          • Sooner Ray says:

She was drunk and lost a fight, that’s how the DA saw it. If everything makes it to court….who knows what may happen. None of this is good.

      • Dick Bump says:

I understand your point about your daughter. I would seek justice too…. Whatever happened to men protecting and taking up for women instead of the other way around. Also, I got the impression her brother was there as well. If so, he should have kept her out of trouble, if she was impaired. Very ugly situation is likely to get worse with lawyers involved.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

She’ll spend the rest of her life milking this incident for money. Probably going to join some non-profit organization and live the whiny life of a victimized activist telling her story to anyone that will listen.
I know one thing though, you spit on me, I’ll punch you, too. Disgusting.

    • j l says:

I have a feeling all those video’s of her getting high and drunk etc, are going to come back to haunt her during this trial(if it ever gets that far).

    • RocketCitySooner says:

As the prosecutor for this case said, he couldn’t charge Mixon for assault because she also assaulted him. As soon as it comes out that she called him a racial slur and slapped him, this case will be over.
