    BOOMER!!!!!!!!!! 1ST

  • metzker says:

Love hearing the dragon lady use the F word.

  • metzker says:

    Wow on Perine,amazing!

    • Dick Bump says:

Yep. His amazing numbers just kind of snuck up on you.

    • DR LEO MARVIN says:

      Optimus for a reason.

    • Cush Creekmont says:

He has always been a beast. With a stronger line this year, OUr total yardage should increase – better passing numbers early and huge run numbers later. Will finally be an offense that is “pick your poison.”

      • Dick Bump says:

Perine and Mixon in the two back set with a great passing game should be fun to watch this year. Good things coming. Now I need a dipshit friendly way to record/delay ect. from the Internet and OTA.

        • Golfluvr13 says:

Clearstream 2V indoor/outdoor antenna. PlayStation Vue has all the ESPN channels and Fox Sports 1 & 2.

          • Dick Bump says:

Thanks for the input. I’ve got the antenna and Roku/ sling to. I’m looking for a hard drive recorder to record live games as well you tube repeats. I’ve seen some advertised but I haven’t found an all in one type of set up. With so many people dumping cable, I figured some manufacturer has/will fill the need.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

PlayOn, it’s $50 for a lifetime subscription and it will record anything you can stream over the internet to a hard drive (it requires a Windows PC).

          • Dick Bump says:

I’ll check that out, although I switched to a Mac last year because of frustration with viruses and virus software.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I hear you. I have all Mac computers. I setup an old Windows PC I had for PlayOn. I have not tried to set it up to record yet, will do that in a week or two.

          • Dick Bump says:

I could do that. I’ve got one or two workable Windows platforms, all Windows 7 and earlier.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I’m using Windows 7 on the one I am trying out.

          • Birddawg says:

            Tell us how it goes..
I wouldn’t mind adding a dvr for the coming season.. I’m going to want to rewatch all the beat downs OU will be handing out this year.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I will. I know the DVR on Playstation Vue works fairly well, but it deletes the recordings after 30 days. I will have to figure out how to extend the time on the games with PlayOn.

          • Dick Bump says:

Do you have to have a new PlayStation to use PlayStation Vue?

          • Birddawg says:

Roku Stick $50 bucks is all you will ever need.
Vue, HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Prime.. its perfectly fast and easy

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Exactly Birddawg. The new Roku stick is faster than the Roku 3 that I have. (I bought the new stick for the bedroom and it’s nice).

          • Birddawg says:

Hey, do you know of any Wifi hotspot equip?
I was thinking of trying to start one and use my roku to feed TV at my tailgate this year.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Love that idea, but sadly, I do not know of any.

          • Dick Bump says:

Isn’t there a campus-wide hot spot? I’m not sure how you log on. You may have to adopt a student to gain access.

          • Birddawg says:

            Lol! That’s a good idea… Anyone a student?..
            want to make a deal?

          • Golfluvr13 says:

No sir. You sign up with a Playstation account on psvue.com then you can log in to your account on a Roku stick or box or an Amazon Fire stick or box. The guide on the Fire box is 1000 times better than the one on the Roku (I have both), but I still prefer the Roku overall to the Fire box/stick.

          • Birddawg says:

Another cool thing about all this,
You don’t have to talk to anyone on the phone..
Sign up, change, or cancel with a click of a button…
            It’s marvelous.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Exactly! There are no contracts at all. I keep Sling during the summer so I can watch the Royals on Fox Sports KC, because Vue does NOT offer my Fox Sports regionals. If Sling would just come out with a DVR. UGH! There are some other companies coming out with streaming apps to compete with Playstation and Sling. DirecTV is actually making one for October. SFTVNow has one right now. Hulu is making one as well. Vidgo is working on one as well that is supposed to be entirely ala carte.

          • Birddawg says:

Apple is coming up with a live stream too.
Sling has a better guide etc you’re right no DVR stinks.
            More competition will be good.
            Def is on the upswing.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I am still not 100% certain that Apple is going to make one. I have read a couple of places that they are giving up on that idea. But we will see. Supposedly Time Warner is also making one that will offer your local channels as well. But I have a data cap, so I will continue to use my antenna for local channels, besides there is no compression in the picture and it is awesome.

          • soonerbred4ever says:

I wish I understood all the equipment and sites needed to dump Dish! When I was in high school, an electric typewriter was high tech.

          • Wood says:

what are your opinions on direct, they are now saying that since they have joined up with AT&T everything is better?

          • Dick Bump says:

That’s who I dumped. They suck you in with a great deal with varying expiration dates. When the prices jump, you have to call and re-negotiate which takes about an hour out of your life. To me it seemed like the prices jumped every other month and the negotiation process was like buying a car, i.e. Hidden charges, making you wait to talk to someone, ect. The usual sales BS. I decided I’d rather not do that, but that’s me. The product is good when it isn’t storming, although I think the OTA is about as good of a picture. The DVR is convenient.

          • soonerbred4ever says:

Direct and Dish are clones, to me.

          • OohRah Mama says:

Yes, Dumb and Dumber clones. Without the clueless, goodhearted stupid-as-a-box-of-muddy-rocks charm.

          • OohRah Mama says:

            BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

            Also, BOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know from experience. A bird poops in your yard 50 feet away, the signal drops and you miss the game. Don’t walk, RUN AWAY from Satellite.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

It’s really pretty easy. Get you a Roku stick (new one) or a Roku 2 or 3, setup an antenna, get a Tablo DVR (records OTA and streams to your Roku), look at Playstation Vue or Sling for your “cable” channels.
Check this link out for some more info:
            http://cordcuttersnews.com/cord-cutting-101-a-beginners-guide-to-cord-cutting/

          • soonerbred4ever says:

Thank you Golf. I will check it out!

          • Golfluvr13 says:

No problem. Holler if you have other questions. I cut the cord more than 6 months ago.

          • Birddawg says:

            Tablo Dvr pretty good?

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I love it. I have the 4 tuner, so we can record three shows at once and watch another live if need be. You provide your own hard drive so you can determine how much space you have. My only complain is that it does not support surround sound as of yet.

          • Birddawg says:

Gotcha, do you pay for the subscription guide?

          • Golfluvr13 says:

It is a one time $150 charge and that is for a lifetime subscription. I would prefer the new TiVo because it does surround sound, but it does not work like the Tablo. The TiVo hooks directly to the TV, but does not play over your local intranet. UGH!

          • Birddawg says:

            ah I see

          • Dick Bump says:

Any experience with TiVo Roamio OTA? Looks like it records OTA and YouTube.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Nope, sorry. I have only used the Tablo DVR. PlayOn will record YouTube for you. The Tivo won’t record youtube, as far as I know, it will just play it. You don’t need that if you have a Roku.

          • Dick Bump says:

I see what you mean. It says “streaming” YouTube rather than recording. Thanks for the input.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

You bet. Holler if you need more help.

          • soonerbred4ever says:

You may already know about this free online movie site but you can get new movies the same day they hit the theaters. Free!
            movies123.to

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Bitorrent is not entirely legal. I’ll stick to legal ways to watch stuff. Just like Kodi, most of the stuff you can watch on there is illegal. ISP’s have been known to send nasty grams to people who are watching pirated movies or stolen links to TV channels.

  • Matt S. says:

Morning TFB. Can’t wait to read this “yuge” OP today.

  • Cush Creekmont says:

Thanks Jordan for the early news – I was the laggard today. GoT bloopers were funny – seeing the serious characters as the real actors was fun.

  • brainpimp says:

    Good morning all!

  • Sooner Ray says:

Was really hoping Broyles would take on a more involved role at TFB, guess we didn’t offer enough money. 🙂

  • AltoidSooner says:

    Good Morning!

Disappointingly another OU alum NFL career cut short d/t injury.

  • Fear The Magic says:

    Good Morning TFBers
I just want to wish Ryan B. the best of luck now that his football career is a wrap.
You’ll always be an all time great Sooner and wishing you much success from here on out.
Come hang out on here from time to time. I’m sure that I speak for most everyone on here when I say that we’d really appreciate your input.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Sorry to see that, but happy as long as he is healthy.

    • Birddawg says:

6+ years in the NFL is no small feat..
Guys need to make the right decisions early to save themselves a life after football.
Good luck to him. Sooner forever.

      • Jed says:

five years earns you the pension and lifetime health insurance, no? (I had a buddy who played NFL Europe and it sounded like a pretty decent deal if you could stick for five years.)

RB seems like a guy with a very level head, so, given a bit of safety net, he should be ‘fixed’. And who, really, can ask more than that?

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Morning all. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Wonder Woman looks amazing. Oh and the movie might be good too.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Boom? Yet? Per R Barnes should come in today.

  • Sam Philbeck says:

There were a few more cool trailers that came out this past weekend. Here’s the one…

    • BleedCrimson says:

      Looks pretty good.

    • Golfluvr13 says:

Oh yeah, I’ll be seeing this one. Looks great!

    • Dick Bump says:

I like Guy Ritchie’s stuff. I think he did “Snatch” and “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.” This looks entirely different. Just as long as there are no Zombies or Vampires. I’ve had enough of that.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Man, that looks terrible. The 1933 version is a great and touching love story. The recent remake was bloated, but a decent homage to the original. Skull Island looks like cheap shite…all about the money.

I look forward to the ride, though. Will be at Universal in a couple of weeks.

      • SPRIGGS says:

The budget for the movie is 190 million dollars… That’s hardly cheap. IMO it looks fantastic. The movie will be a set up for Godzilla vs King Kong in 2020. I don’t want a love story lmao It’s King Kong for goodness sake!

  • Gary Robbins says:

With Hines and Okudah added as possible for attendance this weekend-it keeps getting better and better.
With the OU killer bees and SS17 at Bob’s BBQ it will be Brisket and Booms- so be ready.

  • Boom says:

Can you sum it up any better than the article Jordan posted about expansion.

Expansions reduces flexibility. College football looks like it is heading toward another major reshuffling next decade. Four 16-team conferences seems like the plausible stasis point. Why would you want to be less flexible heading into that? A 10-team Big 12 could look at the Pac 12 blunders, swoop in to steal six teams and secure itself as a super conference. A watered down 12-team or 14-team Big 12 is the conference getting plucked.

    • ZW_in_Austin says:

The best thing that can happen is for the current Big 12 teams to be better overall – UT, OKState, TTech, WVU, KSU…and win our freakin’ bowl games.

  • BleedCrimson says:

40 DTG – 3 All Americans wore this number. Reggie was pretty darn good also!
Curtis Lofton AA 05-07; Darrell Reed AA 83-87; Leon Heath AA 50; Reggie Barnes 88-92

  • RDC212 says:

    Waiting for today’s “BOOM” impatiently.

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

This will be me at work all day long

  • hushnpa says:

    it looks to me like
all this ‘Big 12 you need each other’ = Texsa saying ” pleaes donot go Oklahoma ” –
using SN instead of ESPN to camouflage where it’s really coming from ; ( might be some of the rest in on it to )
I suspect Big 12 expansion is mainly Texsa wanting to make sure they still have their own conference of patsies to push around if Oklahoma leaves as much as trying to keep us happy

  • SamSooner says:

Good morning, TFB family. My uncle is looking to join Max and I for the tOSU game. Anyone on here who are season ticket holders, who will not make it to the game, looking to unload two tickets?

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I watched 2 of houstons games from last year and that offense is pretty solid but GWjr can’t complete a pass if his first read is taken away but man can the kid flat out fly. Their defense also blitzed almost every other play. We seemed to struggle a bit last year handling blitzes up the middle, hopefully a quick dump off to Samaje or Joe will net us a big chunk so they slow that crap down. Our linebackers need to be ready to go. I know none of this is news to any of you, I’m just bored and anxiously awaiting the season.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

I watched a couple Sooner games this weekend. I noticed how patient Samaje was running the ball. His power gets a lot news and rightfully so bit his patience is big too

      • SoonerOracle737 says:

He knows the O line blocking assignments too, so that gives him a tremendous advantage on when / where to make the cut. His extra effort in the film room learning the blocking assignments is paying huge dividends.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Oh I’ve got Zero concerns about our offense, it’s more so our defense slowing down GW. The kid is just as electric as Deshawn was last year. But his passing is more along the lines of the Dobbs kid from Tennessee. We should be ok but that first game is always a little sketchy.

        • SoonerOracle737 says:

Three words – contain, contain, contain…that’s all.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I know, I know, I know but those young eyes get tricked so easily! I just need Mike to set us up with a great game plan. If a team is pounding us with the run then maybe switch out of a 2-4-5 defense ( Texsa game ) then switch to a bigger front.

          • SoonerOracle737 says:

I want speed on the edges defensively to help containment. If we shut down his running lanes and can maintain decent coverage we can mostly shut them down offensively. I know the QB will break off some runs on us, but if we can overpower their O line and fill gaps with LB’s I think we should have a comfortable win. However, it is the first game of the season and that is the game where we typically make tons of mistakes. Oh well, should be an exciting game.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Oh yeah. You HAVE to stay in your rush lanes especially against a QB who has the skill set of a GW.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I took us -9.5 so obviously I think we win and cover but I’m starting to have buyers remorse lol

          • SoonerOracle737 says:

I think we win by two scores. I think it will be close going into 3rd QTR and we wear them down physically and pull away. That’s my guess, but who knows?

    • BoomCity89 says:

Should be a great game. Both offenses will have a great year and both defenses have question marks leading into the season. OU with the linebackers/filling the pass rush void and UH with their secondary/leading tackler void. If OU comes out thinking they’re playing a past UH team, we could get into some trouble. OU needs to come out as if they were playing Ohio St for this Houston game.

Ward is the real deal and could be gone for 6 with a small mistake. Last year, UH caused a TON of turnovers to win or keep them in games. OU will need to protect the ball like they did last year and really play with a chip on their shoulders after the ending result from the playoffs.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Their turnover margin was top 5 if I’m not mistaken. My baby sis has been trolling me for weeks already lol. She has love for her school but she knows that The love I have for my Sooners so she’s always messing with me.

  • Farmer Glickstein says:

The SN article is dumb. It’s not a family, it’s a marriage, and Oklahoma needs to get a divorce.

    • cpearc00 says:

No marital counseling or anything? Have you even considered the children? 🙂

      • OohRah Mama says:

Children do better when they’re in a less stressful, more positive dynamic.
OU will do better away from the feckless younger sibling and the tacky, money-with-no-good-breeding cousin.

        Screw Texas.
        Screw OSU.

    • Bob Edwards says:

If this is a family, then we need to sit down on the couch, turn on the TV and tell Texas to get us a sammich and a beer.

  • Matthew Stevens says:

With all the amazing backs we’ve had throughout the years it’s amazing that Perine could hold this record

  • Birddawg says:

    JY article posted

  • CrimsonGhost says:

Ryan Broyles is a perfect example of the phrase, “Life isn’t fair.” After his early misstep at OU, for which he paid a price, he did everything right.

I can’t believe that he couldn’t make valuable contribution to a NFL team. Teams just won’t give him a chance. However, I have no worries that he won’t be a success in whatever he chooses to do in life. Good luck #85! Much respect from this corner of Sooner Nation.

  • j l says:

Really hate to see broyles have to retire, but he was smart with the money he did earn, im sure he will be fine. Class act all around.
