Nice. My favorite is the one against Texas. Not just because it was Texas. Not just because it was a long beautiful run. But because of the block thrown by Kenny Stills. EPIC!

  • Birddawg says:

Best way for Walker to lock in a 1st round pick is to sack the QB.

    • SquidGiant says:

I looked at last years draft and even the 7th DT off the board was at pick 46. So even if he doesn’t improve his stock that’s pretty good.

      • Birddawg says:

Nfl will always take the better pass rusher in each position along Dline.
Either the higher career avg sacks or the one year wonder double digit sacker..
He needs to get 6+ sacks again this year..

  • Tony B says:

Good morning brainiacs and BOOMER! Another good pump up video on mute. What’s up with the people incorporating techno / dance music into a these lately. It’s supposed to be a pump up video not a fist pump video.

  • ouwooferman says:

tOSU has added Joker Phillips to their staff. Two questions, how many coaches or QAQC staff can a team have and Why wont OU look at picking up some talent such as this, even if for just a year?

    • Drew says:

I’m pretty sure OU is completely full. Remember, all of this stuff came up when we were trying to keep Viney last year.

      • cush creekmont says:

I think he is asking “why doesn’t OU create all those non-coaching, staff positions that Alabama, tOSU, et al, continue to create to skirt the restrictions on actual number of coaches?”

The concept is that these people break down film for recruiting and scouting opponents, create schedules, chase down “whatever” so the coaches can “coach” PLUS the added benefit of more-minds-planning.

    • j l says:

We added spurrier jr to our staff, not exactly chopped liver.

      • ouwooferman says:

One man’s Pate is another man’s catfish bait.

        • j l says:

Hes not been a HC like joker, but he has been a longtime position coach who we nabbed in an off the field role.

Id say thats better than adding someone with no coaching experience.

        • j l says:

    “Sooners CB Jordan Thomas arrested”

    Fuuuuuuuuuu…………..

    • Fear The Magic says:

      Ugh what did he do?
I swear for a kid thats supposed to be that smart he’s sure done his share of not so smart things.

      • Canada_KB says:

“Public Intox., Assault and Battery, Interference” …

        • Fear The Magic says:

If thats the case its good bye at the very least for the Houston game. Probably more.

        • Drew says:

Well, looks like Dakota secured a spot then. PJ v Quick for the other side then?

          • Canada_KB says:

Will be an interesting battle to watch

          • Fear The Magic says:

Im guessing a few more TFBers here may be on the Cobb train soon.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

That isn’t really a championship caliber starting CB combination, IMO.

Hopefully it works out and Thomas does what he needs to do to stay on the team. Tough to imagine him not being out for at least HOU though.

          • cush creekmont says:

To me – BEST case is “indefinite suspension.” More likely case = dismissal…sadly for him and the team.

          • Drew says:

I think you’re right, I’m just being optimistic here. While I certainly appreciate Austin’s moxie and effort, he simply is too small to be a starter, and our secondary will guaranteed suffer for it. Thomas was looking to be a Day 2 draft pick, and so whoever replaces him will be a likely step down as well. Here’s hoping PJ was ready to step in, and that Quick is transitioning very, very quickly. B/c regardless of Thomas staying on the team or not, I can’t see him being suspended less than 3 games. And tOSU is game 3.

        • Bob Bender says:

Well, it is necessary for the arresting […]’s to exaggerate the charges. Before punishment is considered.

    • David Morris says:

      Dang it!

    • Maverick says:

This guy isn’t exactly on his first offense with Bob either. Yikes.

      • Canada_KB says:

Think it’s enough to get him kicked off for good?

        • Maverick says:

I wouldn’t be surprised. I don’t think Stoops has ever suspended the same guy for single games multiple times.

Obviously Stoops will get all the details we won’t, but unless the police were just complete dick’s, which I doubt they were, he gone.

          • Matt says:

I wanna say Stills and Jaz Reynolds each got suspended multiple times for single games.

    • Malicong says:

I don’t see this ending well.

    • Defend Colfax says:

Maybe he can get a judge like Cam Robinson got and be back listed on preseason polls before the end of the week.

    • cush creekmont says:

I know the young man is “young,” but he is teetering on ruining his life if he keeps on this path.

      Come on man!
Jordan T, for your own sake, stop-and-think.

  • A-Rob says:

    Jordan Thomas arrested last night…

  • MikeyBoom says:

I said it months ago when his dad started blasting him on twitter that it wouldn’t shock me if Thomas got kicked of before the season started.. Sad to admit I was right. Man this blows. Cant let this guy back on the team. He’s had multiple chances to get right. Sucks for the kid. Something must not be right in his head. He’s a knucklehead according to some people I know. This just shows it.

    • cush creekmont says:

Hate it, Mikey, but it sure looks like JT can’t control JT.

      • MikeyBoom says:

I feel you man. I remember his dad blasting him all over twitter then I just went and looked at his dads twitter and in May he tweeted at Jordan that he just got off the phone with CNN and to stay tuned for August 30th. Seems like the dad and son haven’t fixed their issues. It’s very sad. I’d bet Coach Stoops is going to kick him off. Rightfully so IMO

        • ALar03 says:

I’m with ya Mikey.. For as strict as many say Bob is with kids that have character issues it will be interesting to see what he does here.. He’s had his chances I don’t care how good of a football player he is

        • cush creekmont says:

Sad for him and the team. This is a case of SMH, SMH, SMH until it rattles and I’m dizzy!

PS- Thanks for your inside info – we truly appreciate your sharing stuff with us.

          • MikeyBoom says:

LOL Cush stop it dude. I have no inside info haha I just report what I see on twitter and what I hear at the famous barbershop

          • cush creekmont says:

Hey Mikey – That Barbershop is an info pipeline! Me, I get some young girl with three pounds of hardware in her face give me an old-man cut because I go to a quick, franchise place.

      • OohRah Mama says:

Even putting aside the eyes on the Big 12 due to Baylor’s cesspool, Bob Stoops doesn’t suffer fools lightly.

        https://youtu.be/0HV1JzxhDcY

  • Chris White says:

Really don’t want him suspended for any games this year but..
    https://twitter.com/soonerscoop/status/748542829568237568

  • Jordan Esco says:

re: J.Thomas – We knew about it. We’re working on some things. Hope to be able to share more later.

  • ALar03 says:

Talk about a player with a lot of upside in the pros.. He is sure building a not so great resume off the field

  • bjwalker82 says:

    Dammit J Thomas. UGH

  • Maverick says:

Happy that Dakota Austin will get an even bigger chance. The guy has done everything right and worked his tail off.

  • UGA Sooner says:

Even if JT doesn’t get kicked off the team, this solidifies him leaving for the NFL after this year. He’d be stupid not to. Which obviously bodes well for Okudah considering we may lose ALL of our secondary. Just thinking of a positive way to spin this

    • MikeyBoom says:

haha great spin job. Made me kind of happier lol

    • cush creekmont says:

Okay. And all the other DBs will work even harder since ALL the CB spots are open…how’s that for positive?

  • ALar03 says:

Mbanasor Austin Johnson and Stephens all in a fight to start now..

    • Puma says:

      And Quick

      • Jpsooner23 says:

I think he sneaks up on people and performs well.

      • Drew says:

I was pretty disappointed tbh when he decided to switch over to D, but it’s looking more and more to have been the right move.

    • MikeyBoom says:

Don’t forget about Quick. Also, Will Johnson may play some Corner. I’d bet if Johnson moved to CB that Khalil Houghton would move to NB in a move I would like

      • Matt says:

that could help against the run actually

        • MikeyBoom says:

          Exactly my thought as well

          • MikeyBoom says:

I know I am in the minority but I never liked Sanchez. I always thought he was wayyyy overrated. Got burned way to much. Was one of the most annoying guys I ever met. He always acts like he is better and elite and I told him to his face that he wasn’t as good as Derrick Straight, Dom Franks, Antonio Perkins,Andre Woolfolk and the guys I grew up watching. He said I was crazy if I didn’t think he was one of the best Sooner CB’s ever. Now Jordan Thomas was legit but still wasn’t a big fan of him. I like Mbanasor. Why? Idk. He just has something to him. Let the stoning begin

          • Jpsooner23 says:

Cant disagree with some of your assessment, but you have to admit the secondary would be MUCH better off this year with Sanchez and Parker as CB’s. I love PJ as well, but experience worries me.

          • MikeyBoom says:

            Agree

          • Jpsooner23 says:

More a pebble than a stone 馃檪

      • Fear The Magic says:

Supposedly Sylvie looked pretty good at NB too.

    • bommer85 says:

      jordan parker may surprise everyone

      • Jpsooner23 says:

I like that kid. Doesn’t get the hype a lot of others have been, but may be special.

      • Mark_in_VA says:

He’s definitely a wildcard. He could have a great career here if he’s mature enough to make that immediate leap.

      • ALar03 says:

I would agree if he was an early enrollee but that’s hard for a frosh to come in and play at that level, like mbanasor did last year.. Athletically he was all there but it was the small details he needed to work on

    • Daryl says:

don’t forget quick either. I also was thinking about the possibility of Will Johnson at CB and then Sunderland or Sylvie at NB

  • Jesse says:

3 strikes, you’re out. Bad look for the kid.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

What was a strength now might be a weakness. I really hate it when these kids do really dumb stuff. Hopefully some of the others are ready.

  • cpearc00 says:

Happens every offseason and sucks every time.

  • OUgrad82 says:

what is the Status of Stanvon Taylor?

  • SoonerfanTU says:

If booted, wonder if he enters the NFL Comp Draft? Not sure when that is.

  • Brandon Hargraves says:

Maybe Will Johnson slides in that spot

    • Mark_in_VA says:

Unfortunately, that’s probably our best bet. And I say that because Johnson was a monster at the nickel and going to be nearly as tough to replace as JT, I fear.

    • Boom says:

If he does, hope Roy Williams has some eligibility left for the NB position. ; )

      • Daryl says:

I say Sunderland or Sylvie could….COULD take on the NB spot.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Chanse has been looking good from everything I’ve read. I wouldn’t object to that IF will is our best option at corner.

    • Jordan Esco says:

It’s certainly possible, but I think they really like him at nickel.

  • RBear says:

    silver lining = opens up a scholly…

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Not really. We won’t add anybody this year, and he was likely gone next year anyways. This one’s gonna hurt.

  • Jpsooner23 says:

Pass rush even more critical now. Walker needs to stay healthy and Obo, DeBerry, Jackson, et al will need to find their inner Striker quickly.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Anybody else see the door opening wider for cobb

  • Big Higg says:

    Wow JT. WOW.

  • Tony B says:

If this happened at Pickleman’s I’m claiming it is secretly owned by T. Boone!

    • OUhomer4life says:

We need him for the Houston game! I hope it’s a case of police stacking charges!

  • Daryl says:

Look I want to win really bad, but at this point it is time to cut our loses with JT. This has happened on multiple occasions and it is obvious that he is not changing. Move on and let Austin Mbanasor Quick Parker and Stephens compete for the two empty spots.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

If JT went to Ole Piss, Bama, or Baylor you would have never heard about this or the charges would have got dropped.

  • 鈿★笍Electric Sooner鈿★笍 says:

Here’s the deal some kids just don’t get it. They don’t understand the great opportunity that sits in front of them. JT sounds like a kid who has plenty of book smarts but has very little common sense! NEXT MAN UP!!

  • Randy says:

Besides Mark Jackson. Motley is probably my favorite ’16 recruit. Look at that offer list…. !!

    http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/212939/parnell-motley

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

    What happened with JT now?

    • Boom says:

      Drunk and interfering with police/assault.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Along the lines of Trevone Boykin or less than that?

        • ND52 says:

At this point I don’t think it matters @Vegas_Sooner21:disqus

        • DrewChubbs says:

Boykin was originally charged with felony assault and resisting arrest, correct? If what I remember is true, Boykin gets the nod for “worst,” of the two. However, even if this might be a slap on the wrist type of offense (not sure the penalties involved) for JT, it’s not his first time in hot water, so Bob may be the big, bad judge.

        • DrewChubbs says:

      • ouwooferman says:

bad pattern…He spent a night in Grady County jail in mid-December after failing to appear in court following a traffic citation.

Twice last season, Thomas missed time for disciplinary reasons. He was suspended for the Sept. 19 game against Tulsa for an undisclosed violation and missed the first quarter of the season opener against Akron.

for some this may be a cry for help, but I am afraid this is the end of his season.

  • KJ1123 says:

We need this week to be over already.

  • Boom says:

I know JT messed up and maybe he can’t handle his booze – learn from it. I would bet there is no one feeling worse about what happened than JT. By no means am I taking up for him but you know he’s hating life today. Whatever Stoops says, I’m behind him.

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I’m not even finding an article about this JT incident.

  • j l says:

Can we get the same judge the bama kids got? I mean, this kid works out in the heat, not in the air conditioning like us “spolied” people.

  • MikeyBoom says:

Okay a friend of mine on twitter messaged me and told me he has a friend who seen the Thomas incident go down. He also said take it for what its worth but that he thinks it is pretty accurate. Don’t shoot the messenger. Supposably Jordan and an OU Baseball player who also got arrested named Andrew something were drinking on campus corner and started getting into it with some big guy. Both Thomas and Andrew started hitting the guy and police where called and arrived fast. A former football player was with them but had no involvement. He ran away from the scene as soon as it started. This is a guy played for OU last year and wasn’t involved at all. Don’t like to start rumors just telling you guys what I was told.

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Problematic pattern here. Suspend him for half the season or the whole season.

    • Drew says:

He’s gone after this season anyway, so at that point kick him off and give the scholly to a walk on. Really though, I like the talent we have at CB, just not the experience. As long as the suspension is through the tOSU game (and I can’t imagine it would be shorter than that if reports are accurate), I don’t really see the remainder of the games as that much more of a difference.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

He has some issues. Better learn from this one. Next time he’ll get some time in the pokey

        • ouwooferman says:

btw, he is a junior soooooo, he could come back his senior year if he gets the Shannon punishment. I suspect he would not make it out to the NFL earlier than 4 or 5 if he 1. has had a lot of off the field issues, 2. Has not played in a year

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

What pisses me off even more than reading about Jordan is the fact that if this was the SEC no news reporter would have said jack squat. Whatever. Next man up I guess. If we have ANY injuries to the CB spot we are screwed. I’m sorry but Austin played well against the crappy team he faced last year but he’s not starter material. This is devastating IMO. I’m beyond annoyed right now. I’ll see y’all tomorrow when there is hopefully better news than this. Peace out TFB!

  • Maverick says:

Can we stop with the whole “this wouldn’t have happened in the sec” talk?

One, we don’t know how many incidents here already happen the exact same way. For all we know, the police could’ve warned JT 8 times without arresting him.

Second, just because they do things backwards doesn’t mean we should too. If a kid breaks the law, they should be punished. Who cares if they get away with it at Bama? Do you really want to have the reputation that they do?

It’s 2016. Cops used to be far more lax on tons of stuff. DUI, etc. If you do dumb stuff in 2016, you’re likely to get in trouble for it. Have to be smarter than that.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

No we can’t stop with it because Alabama just had their best player ( arguably) get off the hook while riding around town with an illegal weapon and MJ and nothing happened. Don’t tell me it’s not because of the SEC and the fact they have THE most arrest per teams in the nation. Sec gets away with more, simple as that. At this point it doesn’t matter bc JT has had his chances, but don’t sit here and act as if the SEC doesn’t get away with way more, whether it’s due to the coaches, judges, police or whoever.

      • OohRah Mama says:

Sooner football program isn’t Alabama football program, OUr staff isn’t Bama’s staff, Stoops handles players better than Saban – and more importantly – we don’t want to get away poor behavior with the way they do.

      • Maverick says:

You obviously didn’t read my post. Maybe stop worrying about what happens at Alabama so much.

        • Lane Gilstrap says:

I think the point is JT should go but some of those guys in the SEC won’t even miss a game. They should be gone too. The minimum on that Bama kid was a year in jail if convicted. MINIMUM

      • ND52 says:

True but Bama doesn’t have Baylor in their conference.

The one ( and only ) silver lining that I see is that all of the younger CBs will get a bunch more reps.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

But all the young DB’s are still with SS17 ???

      • Fear The Magic says:

Not true. Mbanasor, Stephens, Parker, Motley, Sylvie and maybe even Cobb.
Plus Quick can use as many snaps as he can get.

and one more poster boy to hang on the wall as what not to do.

    • cush creekmont says:

All summer long, Mbanasor & Quick need to run 7-on-7 like their lives are on the line. We will see just how much heart this D has.

For “silver lining,” I’ll go with just before July 1st rather than September 1st.

Replacing DBs on both sides is going to be difficult and depth becomes an issue.
      Johnson started half a season?
      Mbansor 1 game?
      Quick is transitioning
Stephens, Jordan Parker, Motley haven’t had a snap yet..
      I’m freaking..
      Someone calm me down!

      • cush creekmont says:

Agree on depth. Replacing the NFL departing Sanchez did not bother me nearly like losing JT. Like MikeyBoom, I always thought Sanchez was not as good as we needed. Yes, he made some big plays, but he got beat some and he had a lot of trouble getting his man to the ground without giving up 8 yards. Before this, I thought we would be BETTER this year at CB.

  • ouwooferman says:

i guess it was a matter of time. Most programs cant get through a year without kids screwing up. I can think of many more players that would be more devastating to lose to stupidity. Lets pray this OU’s 1 for this season.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I don’t really want him to get kicked, but I really hope one of the young guys step up and earn a spot in the secondary.

  • KJ1123 says:

IMO I dont care what’s going on with other teams/conferences in relation to whats going on with our team. We need to worry about our own house. You dont want to get in trouble? Stay your a$$ indoors especially if you’re a major contributor. You can get drunk and get in bar fights for 50 years after you’re done at OU.

    • Jofield says:

Amen! We don’t need to stoop to someone else’s level. I wish him the best whether that is eventually on the field or not but Stoops will hold his players accountable and I trust him to do the right thing (whatever the “right thing” is).

    • ouwooferman says:

You can learn from dumb mistakes, but you cant fix stupid.

  • CWFosh says:

I am totally not defending JT in any way. He should never have done what he did. Just walk away. However, when I was at OU I saw many students out at campus corner or other parties just trash talk and provoke the athletes because they know the athletes can’t/shouldn’t do anything back. “Man, I made so and so back down…..”

  • Fear The Magic says:

Pretty amazing how an extra beer or two could possibly cost a school a National Championship.
Hopefully that wont be the case here.

    • MoJoOkie says:

Could be worse, and saying even “possibly” is a definite stretch. Could be a knee to start a game, or a torn muscle while lifting, or a concussion, or …

Not a smart move on his part, but my past has enough glass windows that I can’t be the one to hurl many rocks.

  • soonerguy421 says:

A friend of mine was on campus corner last night and he said there was a pretty big brawl and a lot of police arrived on the scene, so I’m assuming that’s when this all went down SMH

Soon as I saw the headline I had a sinking feeling it was Thomas. Hope this turns out to not be true, but if it is he may be a goner.
