Good morning, fellow Brainiacs!!! Busy day today — just checking in to wish everyone a great day. BOOMER!!!!

That “overrated” playoff contender article is a joke. OU is overrated because we have a hard schedule!?! That is not a reason to call a team overrated. You could call Baylor overrated because of their losses on both lines, but saying a good team has a hard schedule? Color me confused as hell by that one.

Also, good morning everyone and BOOMER F*ING SOONER!!!

    • Birddawg says:

“Schedule, Schedule, Schedule” Its the only thing we have to speculate on..
OU got to the playoffs last year…A better season is ahead… Overrated. That’s doesn’t make any sense.

    • Oscar says:

      Good Morning!

    • j l says:

Not saying the team is overrated, they are saying our shot at making the playoffs is overrated.

If youve noticed, we have been given the best shot of any team to make the playoffs, upwards of 70% on some projections.

It is a brutal schedule to navigate.

  • Zach Evans says:

Well I’ve been on this site for over a year but haven’t ever joined into any discussions, I thought it’s about time I joined in. I’m in high school and play basketball. I played Jon Michael Terry during the season and I played Isaiah Thomas in a summer league game last night, I told Isaiah to join SS17 and he smiled real big saying “yeah everyone knows about that,”

Not sure how to take that but at the very least he seemed to really like OU as well as SS17

Welcome Zach from a fellow veteran browser and occasional poster, I’ll tell you that this is a great site (with the best Sooner information available) and a group of regular posters that are well worth engaging. Thanks for the insight, and nice to hear from you!

    • DR LEO MARVIN says:

      Welcome to the TFB.

    • Boom says:

Sounds like you’re good in hoops, keep up the hard work. Also, was Jon Michael Terry very good and did he move well for a big guy?

      • Zach Evans says:

JMT was easily the strongest guy I’ve had to guard. One time I tried to screen him and it hurt pretty bad. Lol, He’s not much of a shooter at all, but he moves effortlessly on the court. He was probably the quickest guy out there.. He just lacked some of the basketball skill he would have if it weren’t for his time on the football field. I know that after that game I was very glad OU had him. He is very, very impressive physically..

Observations: 1) where is Notre Dame on that top 10 hated list? 2) Congrats to Baylor for cracking the top 10! 3) Are there any 2 teams more notoriously underachieving long term than A$M and Texsa?

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Morning folks. UTerus not #1, no Irish, no Canes, the list of hated teams was definitely not taken in these parts.

    • HoustonChiver says:

I don’t think anyone cares about Miami anymore. Surprised ND wasn’t on there, very surprise USC wasn’t on there!

  • Birddawg says:

Robinson is the catalyst for that bama oline.
If they lose him, that’s 3/5 starters gone.
Last time I checked Robinson name has been on a lot of mocks inside the top 5.

    • Framoka says:

Yep, it happened in Louisiana not alabama so that might make it tougher for him to get out of it. Like some of the support tweets…he’s a good guy, it’s just a stolen gun and weed..he didn’t kill or rape anyone…what’s the prob??

  • HoustonChiver says:

Well, the bball transfer didn’t last long. I wonder what happened?

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Don’t worry Texsa: you’re still my most hated team

    • cush creekmont says:

As it has been and as it shall be – texsa is SUCK.

Most hated, reviled, and most arrogant-without-reason.

    • Cav66 says:

Texsa is on its own most hated list with me filled with reasons they SUCK (pardon me…LHN, destroyed 2 conferences, ridiculous arrogance, strange romantic fixation with burnt orange cows…). Any other most-hated list would be at least a tier below that one.

Good morning to all TFBers, except Metz!!!

    Morning, Metz!

Metz, you know I had to poke you with that stick. And if I’m going to pay for dinner when we meet up, I’m getting my money’s worth. LOL!

    • cush creekmont says:

Morning Sam. You better buy poor Metz a big ol’ steak because you have given him a lot. 🙂

When you two get together, please don’t trash the place – I’m saving for retirement and can’t afford to spend it on bail.

      • SamSooner says:

        Cush, good morning!

I’m going to take care of him but you know he brought a lot of this on himself. So, the size of the steak will be based upon all things considered.

As for the destruction, I have an image to uphold. I will depart company with Metz as soon as the bill is paid. LOL!

    • Golfluvr13 says:

Morning Sam from the awol golf man…. Still don’t have a lot of time to get on here, but I thought I’d drop in and tell everyone howdy from the middle of nowhere!

        GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD MORNING!!!!

You’re back. We were worried about you, dude. All okay on your end?

        • Golfluvr13 says:

Yeah, all good. Just really busy. Been traveling to see my son who was in the hospital after a car wreck, going to see my granddaughter too. Then our youngest son came out for a week and my in-laws came out for a week. Nothing like being busy to keep me out of trouble.

          • SamSooner says:

Golf, sorry to hear about your son. I hope he’s doing better. I will send prayers your way. It’s a great day for me seeing your name in a post.

By the way, Metz is still out of control.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

My son is back to his old self now, and I thank you for the prayers!

I would imagine Metz will not change. LOL

I gotta run, talk to you all later.

          • SamSooner says:

            Later. See you soon.

      • cush creekmont says:

How have you been? I have finally gotten through my long, long over-work spell. I most certainly understand “being busy.”

Just to catch you up – texsa SUCKS.

        • DR LEO MARVIN says:

I will. I got this picture of the entrance to the job this morning lol.————

    • Oscar says:

      Good morning Sam!

  • Framoka says:

The LB’s rating article is so predictable. OU has 1 returning starter so they’re rated low. The Big 12 blog at ESPN mostly just spins formulaic articles obviously with limited analysis and a word count to fill space. No mention of Deberry; a Scout 5 star player, I actually think LB is a position of strength with Tay, Doucet, Obo, Deberry and Bolton ready to smoke some fools. And Kelly coming in also.

  • Mike Reed says:

    Good morning my friends…..

  • Tmac says:

I don’t think Sammy was bothered so much by the Eagles drafting a quarterback as much as what they gave up to get there. They gave up picks that could have made the team better for this year. Hard to demonstrate you are an elite NFL quarterback without some elite talent and coaching around you.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

Sammy has taken a beating his entire career. Offensive line was never a big priority for the Rams and it showed. I just remember watching Bradford getting physically punished by d-lineman and there was nothing he could do about other than to line up and to have the same thing happen again. When he got to the Eagles, I’m sure he was excited and thought there was hope, but when they traded away all the tools in the chest and restocked them with some Chinese knockoffs he had to be a bit pissed.

    • Dick Bump says:

I wish they’d trade Sam. It just feels perverted rooting for the Eagles.

    • tfb_fortyseven says:

He does get paid a bunch of money, but outside of the money, the boy cannot catch a break: 1) There are still a bunch of Sammy haters in the city of brotherly love. He will get boo’d this season for even the smallest of mistakes, and I’d guess 1/2 of the fans want him gone, 2) his agent seems to have copulated the K9, 3) his receivers all seem to have terrible hands, 4) I’m sure the coach’s fuse will be short in deference to Chase and/or Wentz, 5) the Rams just about destroyed him (he gets blamed for “stealing” all that money too), and 6) has anyone noticed how his left eye has gotten worse?

I just hope he can get out of there before he suffers a career-ending injury. He is in trouble there.

  • Katyboomer says:

Did anybody play the podcast link ” 5/16: Ranking the top 25 teams entering 2016″ up at the top? Man, talk about no respect and it’s from Fox no less. I hope we prove everybody wrong. They hardly talk about us at all. When they do it’s just to justify how they ranked the other top teams.

    • Dick Bump says:

It’s probably an indicator of what the talking heads will be saying leading up to the first game. As we win, they’ll get on board. I have to admit, the schedule starts out tough and we haven’t been great at the start of the year in the past.

    • MikeyBoom says:

LOL they are so delusional. Even TFB guy Gabriel is a moron. He says ut will win 5 of 6 vs Notre Dame, TCU, WV, Cal, UTEP and KU. hahaha I think TFB staff needs to re-evaluate who they let write. While I agree that anything can happen its incredibly stupid to forget that Notre Dame is legit. TCU is ALWAYS good. WV will be above average and Cal isn’t a cake walk. But hey, don’t tell ut writers or fans that. lol some of their posters even say they can see them going 11-1, 10-2 and etc. As a writer, Gabriel should not post nonsense. ut is on there 3rd OC in 3 years, no proven QB, and hasn’t had a winning season in 2 years. lol good job Gabriel from the ut TFB

      • Bob Edwards says:

        I’ll give them KU.

        • MoJoOkie says:

Come on Bob; UTEP is doable.

          • Bob Edwards says:

To be serious I would give them KU and UTEP, laugh mockingly at them for thinking they can beat TCU or ND who beat them a combined 88-10 last year and give them a decent shot at Cal and WV.

          • MoJoOkie says:

Yeah, but it’s more fun to believe 2-4.

        • MikeyBoom says:

All OU bias aside I have them losing to Notre Dame,TCU, WV, OU, OSU, Texas Tech and K State. I say the Cal game and Iowa State are tossups for them. Not trying to hate on them but I just think its realistic.

          • cush creekmont says:

Go ahead and hate them – it’s only natural 🙂

          • MikeyBoom says:

Oh believe me I hate them. They are the laughing stock of college football. lol. But to say they will have a winning season next year is something I wouldn’t bet on lol

          • Bob Edwards says:

The thing is that if they lose to ND and OSU as expected, then the Cal game becomes crucial for them. Lose to Cal and they limp into the game with us at 1-3. If we will actually show up this time Charlie Strong may not leave Dallas with a job.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

I don’t see how an OSU loss is to be expected. We lost last year as a result of a very unfortunate string of plays at the end of the game that one could not possibly be counting on to happen again. I’m of the opinion that we progressed more than they did. Now, I don’t have that one as a “lock to win”, but it’s certainly in the “winnable” category.

          • Bob Edwards says:

You have too much talent on your team to not be able to say winnable on all your games. At the same time you are playing an OSU team that was 10-3 last year and returns the most starters in the B-12. Plus you are playing them at their house this time. I expect they will win but I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if UT won.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

I definitely agree on your first statement. But also remember, not only were we in position to beat them last year with a vastly worse team/system than we’ll have next time, but we also return the 3rd most experience in the Big12. And I still believe we took a further step forward than they did. My whole point is that that game is definitely not one I’m counting on us to lose.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

            ???????

          • Stephen Dale says:

Texas always plays its best game of the season against OU while the Sooners usually struggle. Texas will probably catch OU ‘flat’ again and embarrass the Sooners in dallas.

        • cush creekmont says:

Generosity to the hubris-afflicted or confidence in that KU consistency?

          • Bob Edwards says:

KU is the archetype of mediocrity.

          • cush creekmont says:

I think you may be over-rating KU with that description. They need to switch players with texsa or attitudes with KSU to reach average.

          • Bob Edwards says:

How about this description: KU is a black hole of football ability. Any football ability that gets within its pull is immediately sucked through the event horizon never to be seen again. The one time they were good was when they found a coach of roughly equal mass to the black hole and thus able to disrupt the gravity field and cause the football ability to go into orbit rather than the event horizon.
This may also explain the success over the years of football in Nebraska and Oklahoma. Since the black hole more readily picks up lesser talent it tends to make areas around it more dense in good talent, since the lesser talent gets swept away.

          • cush creekmont says:

Very apt – and it does explain multiple phenomenon.

It was a close race between finding a great player in a KU uniform and finding the Higgs-Boson. But, we know how that turned out.

      • Matt says:

They lose to Notre Dame and TCU but WVU lost too much, I think they win that one. Cal lost Jared Goff so I could see them winning that one too.

    • jimintexas says:

You just lowered my IQ by 10 points, by providing that link. Lesson learned

    • Unofficial Longhorn says:

How many do you see us winning this year?

      • Bob Edwards says:

You are a hard team to predict because you appear to have a coach who is at a crisis point in his stay. How many does he have to win to keep his job? If things start to go bad early, will his team check out? At the same time a couple of good wins early (Cal and OSU) and they may feel like they have turned the corner with enough talent to have a pretty good season. Looking through your schedule I would say seven wins would be a good season for you guys right now.

        • Unofficial Longhorn says:

You’re not very far off from the majority of the UT posters. Almost everybody (with the exception of a few) is thinking between 7-9 regular season wins. So I’m not sure exactly how we’re morons. But then again, if I am a moron, it makes sense that I don’t understand, right?

          • Bob Edwards says:

Well you did go to Texas so I will try to use smaller words. 🙂
I can see 7-9. 11-1, 12-2 seems a bit much for any school with a FR QB and a new OC.

As for the moron comment, it’s an OU board. Over the top insults to the UT fan base is part of the posting rules. Say something nice about UT and you get a three days suspension from posting.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

Well, for one, I did not go to UT. Hence the name! But it was one guy that said 11-12 wins. No reasonable person expects us to do that, that’s why I said the almost everybody is in the 7-9 win range. For the most part, we’re reasonable people over there.

          • Stephen Dale says:

Charlie Strong will get Coach of the Year votes this season as well as a new , longterm contract..

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

I like where your head is at!

      • Boom says:

Depends on your Freshman QB. If he stays healthy, it will help win 8 or 9. If not, going to be hard to manufacture wins. Defense will be top notch but again, you’re betting on a Freshman at QB no less.

        • Unofficial Longhorn says:

I’ve previously stated that 9 regular season wins is our ceiling, so I’d say we’re pretty much on the same page, give or take. I guess you’re delusional too…

          • Boom says:

Hey bud I was giving you props. I’ve always been a huge fan of buechele. Don’t know where this delusional stuff came from. Have a good one

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

No, I was being sarcastic. I was referencing how Mikeyboom said UT fans were delusional for our expectations, so if OU fans thought the same, then y’all must be delusional too. I actually appreciate your objectivity.

          • Boom says:

No worries. To me, Strong needs to keep the players focused/consistent on each game instead of putting all their eggs in one basket. The OU game last last year was a good example of how well they can play but couldn’t keep that mo.
Again, defense wins games and Charlie has young talented players. If the offense has a good running game & QB stays healthy, UT will be strong.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

That’s pretty much where I’m at. My problem is experience vs youth. Yes, we’re returning the 3rd most experienced team in the Big12, but they’re still only going to be sophomores. So while I expect them to not make many of the mistakes they made last year, we’re still going to have to deal with inconsistency. I fully expect us to drop a game we’re favored to win probably on the road, I think that is inevitable. But I also think we’ll rise to the occasion in games people consider us overpowered in. It all depends on which one shows up between experience and youth.

        • Stephen Dale says:

I think Texas will have the league;s top defense and win as many or more regular season games than OU. Texas or Baylor probably wins the league title….Buechele’s a candidate for frosh of the year as well as player of the year.

      • Dick Bump says:

I think ut will lose 3 or 4 in the big 12-2, plus at least ND out of conference.

  • MoJoOkie says:
