I will be the first to comment then. Boomer!

  • Collin says:

Dang Oracle….beat me to it! haha.

  • cdzendolet says:

There are only so many games I can re-watch until the season starts. Only like 120 more days, right?!

    Boomer Sooner!

    • Stephen Dale says:

might start reviewing tOSU film…scary stuff in uniform for the buckeyes next fall with the potential to play for the NC..I suspect tOSU will be favored in every regular season game in 2016….

      • cdzendolet says:

I think they only return something like 20% of their offensive production from last year, with JT Barrett being the only returner of note. tOSU has some of the fewest returning starters of most teams, so watching any stuff from last season wouldn’t do much good, except for maybe scheme stuff, which I am terrible at recognizing.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Don’t think they’ll be favored in Norman. OU is a 6 point fav over Houston on the road, would be 9 at home. OU if they win the first game will be favored by at least 6 v OSU.

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

The article about Bust U is a very interesting look at it. Good to see OU doing well on it.

Also, excellent to see Fox Sports tackling the Baylor situation. It’s way, way past time to do something about that. It’s beyond ridiculous

    • J.r. Kamm says:

When will the NCAA start looking at Baylor? How long did it take after the Tarheel academic scandal made the news before the NCAA started looking into it?

      • SoonerMagic76 says:

        Too long. It’s crazy

      • Stephen Dale says:

IS UNC football & basketball programs even being ‘looked at ” ? I thought it was the girls softball team under the gun in Chapel Hill !! NCAA will probably look at OSU / OU / ISU before gazing in Baylor’s direction…

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

    Also, Snowden looks quite good

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Yay, a new Scifi movie! Approaching the unknown looks interesting, though maybe not original.

    • RBear says:

There’s nothing like SciFi done right, hope it’s solid.

      • Shelby is a Patriot says:

The only types of movies I look forward to these days. Though I don’t even mind the ones that aren’t so great. If it’s in space I’m watching it.

        • metzker says:

          Looks like it has promise.

        • RBear says:

Did you ever watch the BSG reboot (2004) with Edward James Olmos? Stellar (pun intended) writing and acting, classic struggle with no little green men.

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Definitely! My brother bought the whole series when I was in middle school and we’d watch them all the time. Wasn’t a fan of the prequel series, Caprica, they did though.

          • RBear says:

I’m re-watching BSG now that I can binge it- Caprica was ok but I think Eric Stoltz was hard to believe in it. It looked like it was going to lay the groundwork for the birth of the Cylons pretty well. I also didn’t like the actress who played the mother…

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Personally thought the writing of Caprica was really lazy, and the timeline was really confusing. I can’t remember the specifics but the years in between the two series wasn’t long enough to make everything that happens later in BSG believable to me. I didn’t like much of the characters. Both families were unlikable for me.

          • RBear says:

You can always re-visit BSG for rainy day binge-watching, can’t go wrong.

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

            That’s a good idea. I might I have to! 🙂

          • RBear says:

I just converted the BSG opening theme by Bear McCreary as my ringtone last night. It’s based on this (see below) by Deva Pramel. It’s a recitation of a traditional Hindu Mantra, the Gayatri Mantra.

            https://youtu.be/dZ0AoZLyRas

          • RBear says:

Here’s a link with a lot of BSG soundtrack stuff if interested:

          • Oscar says:

Arguably the best produced tv show ever made.

          • RBear says:

            I certainly wouldn’t argue

        • RBear says:

Did you ever watch the BSG reboot (2004) with Edward James Olmos? Stellar (pun intended) writing and acting, classic struggle with no little green men.

        • Walter Sobcek says:

“The Martian” was terrific. I enjoy space epics, and love a sea faring adventure. If someone goes to the trouble of shooting a movie on water, I’m going.

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

The Martian was awesome. All-time favorite for me.

          • RBear says:

            Ever watch Moon?

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Ooh, I forgot about that one. It’s brilliant. I definitely reccomend it.

          • RBear says:

Yeah, a lot to be said for films that are actually a little cerebral in what they’re presenting, from the soundtrack on up, it all supports the final product. I can’t stand the Hollywood standard cookie-cutter crap that relies on CGI and low IQ movie-goers 😉

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Yup, the “Turn your brain off” type of Scifi, like that movie Elysium that came out not too long ago.

          • RBear says:

Didn’t even finish watching that one…

          • Drew says:

Have you seen Oblivion? It’s a Sci-fi w/ Tom Cruise that lifts pretty heavily from Moon, but with an actual budget. Worth a watch imo.

          • RBear says:

Yeah, I caught it but saw Moon first- not too bad.

          • Walter Sobcek says:

No, but will check it out.

          • RBear says:

Black Sails on Starz should be on your list then.

          • Walter Sobcek says:

            It is now…

          • Jim Casy says:

You should consider watching Firefly. It only lasted one season (2002) before Fox unjustly pulled the plug on it. Huge cult following. To appease fans after the cancellation, a movie called Serenity was released a couple of years later to wrap up the story. Both the series and movie are fantastic.

            http://www.businessinsider.com/fox-screwed-up-firefly-2014-9

          • Drew says:

Seconded. Firefly was fantastic. Though, it hurts me to say, I’m glad it got cancelled. Otherwise, Adam Baldwin wouldn’t have been available for Chuck, which had IMO the best season of tv that I’ve seen in season 2. If you haven’t seen that, I highly recommend it.

          • Walter Sobcek says:

            Thanks, I will.

        • Oscar says:

Have you seen Muppets in Space? It’s a wild ride! 🙂

      • Collin says:

        RBear, have you seen Prometheus?

        • RBear says:

Yes, waiting on Scott’s Alien: Covenant now.

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

I didn’t like Prometheus all that much, but I do want to see the next one. It’s been a while though so I’ll have to re-watch Prometheus.

          • Collin says:

You definitely should. I like it more and more each time I watch it. I think the casting for it for the main characters was done really well.

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

I think it was the pacing of it that really ruined it for me. It took a bit for it to get exciting and there were a lot of moments when I thought the characters were being stupid. With that said Noomi Rapace and Fassbender were excellent. My brother loves it so maybe I’ll watch it again with him next time I see him. The wait for the second one has been killing him. Lol

        • OohRah Mama says:

          No space Marines? Pfft.

    • Stephen Dale says:

yep, its that homemade film of OU beating tOSU next September, isn’t it ?

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Good Morning Brainiacs. “It is another fine day to be a SOONER” Spread the word my friends!!!! Oh and to Metz, thanks for acknowledging my request.

  • J.r. Kamm says:

    Good morning, fellow Brainiacs!!

  • Zack says:

Kersey is leaving the Oklahoman to cover the Razorbacks…it all makes sense now.

  • Jordan Esco says:

All these guys leaving their “reputable” print jobs to work for the blogs they’ve spent years talking s#$%/looking down on.

The irony is not lost on me.

    • metzker says:

      Dont you leave us Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Jordan Esco says:

Because anyone would ever pay me to do what I do?

        You’re stuck w/ me 🙂

      • Stephen Dale says:

right………..can’t fathom losing a guy ( JE) who thinks like I do much of the time……

    • Stephen Dale says:

talk is cheap most times.. guys just following the money…..

    • Bob Edwards says:

Unless you have a parakeet why would anyone pay for a print newspaper. Hey honey did you read this story on…? Yes, dear, I saw it posted on Facebook yesterday.

    • Rick says:

It’s a real love fest out there on twitter, for a guy who IMO always tried to show OU in the worst light. https://twitter.com/jasonkersey/status/725682765702651904

      • Jordan Esco says:

Wish I could say I was surprised. Pretty typical in these type of situations. Good luck to the guy (as I’ve said already, he’ll need it covering that team w/ those fans and his style/personality), but I just wasn’t a fan. To which I’d guarantee he cares about as much as I do that he’s leaving.

        • Rick says:

I’ve already cancelled my Oklahoman sub, 247 etc. I would honestly rather come to this site and occasionally disagree with your viewpoint, simply as a difference of opinion from a guy who obviously loves the school, rather than read the trash the “professionals” put out on a daily basis, who are obviously trying to do their best to bash OUr school. I only wish he could take a few of the others out to Arky with him.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Good bye. I hope else enjoys the most irrational & delusional fanbase in the history of sports.

      • Oscar says:

This says it all: “Berry Tramel and Jenni Carlson were celebrities to me before I started working at The Oklahoman.”

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I had to un follow Mr. Kersey aka chicken little after that Texsa loss last year. He’s too dramatic and his writing isn’t even good lol

    • Stephen says:

But who is going to remind us that Connor Knight is still at OU?Joe C’s son “worked hard” to be “chosen” as a volunteer coach? Sorry couldn’t help it, best of luck to him but definitely see the irony.

    • AltoidSooner says:

IMO For some reason, the OSU beat writers have always had better quality writers. I liked Gina Mizell and Kyle Fredrickson as they seemed have a little journalism skill. Aber and Kersey were both small time high school gumshoes.

  • Zack says:

I hope philly and Denver can reach a deal after the draft to move Bradford. I still don’t know why Sam didn’t take less to get out of that hell hole.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

May have been less of a market available to him at that time compared to now. But I do hope he gets to Denver, as well. It’ll be the first time in his career he’d have protection and WRs.

  • ALar03 says:

Here’s a good series of tweets between kyler murray, Zack Farrar and the dbs from sooner squad 17! I like to see stuff like this, kids excited to compete in practice already!
    https://twitter.com/TheKylerMurray/status/725524780628086784

  • Matt says:

just noticed that tOSU’s two leading sackers from last year are coming back. Bosa was actually third. It’s going to be a tough defense to play, they run a scheme very similar to Baylor which has proven difficult for the Sooners when the Bears have had any kind of talent on the field. That game looks tougher and tougher every week.

    • Sooner Jay says:

Actually, Joey Bosa is going to be a top 10 pick in tonights NFL draft. Now his little brother Nick Bosa is on tOSU depth chart.

      • Matt says:

Right, I’m saying Bosa, even though he got all the recognition, actually was only third on their team in sacks. I’m just saying they’ve got D-line talent coming back.

        • SoonerFan92 says:

I would agree with you, but I’ve seen scouts talk about his lack of a motor on some plays. Maybe this is the reason why he was 3rd in sacks? Idk that’s just my opinion I guess.

          • Birddawg says:

            Saving himself for draft..?

          • SoonerFan92 says:

Only he would know the answer to that I guess. I wonder if he will pan out like Clowney did? Although Clowney has had some injuries since joining the NFL, so I can’t say he’s a bust.

          • Birddawg says:

            Nfl cycles in 3’s
Clowney entering his 3rd year. He better step up or the whispers around him will def turn in to boo’s of bust.
Crazy to think Houston has JJ Watt who is the best Defensive player and Clowney efficiency stats were below average.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

Right? When they drafted Clowney to go opposite of Watt, I even got excited to watch them and I’m a die hard Steelers fan.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

That can be misleading. Tommie Harris never looked great stat-wise, but he was a stud.

OSU has good players. No doubt. But they also lost a ton, especially from their secondary. If you thought it was going to be an easy game, for any reason, you were wrong. It’ll be tough. Only team recruiting better than them has been Bama, and Meyer is legit.

    • Daryl says:

This game should be a war. Urban as much as I think is a super cocky punk the man can coach and he doesn’t care who is on his roster he makes them believe they can win and puts them in a position to win. We really to show out well so the SECPN doesn’t go nuts on us and to keep that recruiting momentum running strong.

I so wish I could come back to OK for this game. That new stadium is going to be so legit and so FREAKING LOUD!

  • hOUligan says:

…..Mornin’ Brainiacs!!! Getting’ real w/ Coach Bedenboom. Plus you get to play for OU….

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

Shouldn’t we schedule a meeting for Metz about now? We NEED that OP.

  • Spitting Bull says:

Tyler Locket, good on you speaking up for my boy Sterling. I hope he can break through and be a Pro Bowl player. He certainly will put the work in. Just needs a chance in the right system.

  • Birddawg says:

My OU mock.. none of these will be right but all in good fun.

44th Selection Raiders select Sterling Shepard
Stud Plug and play. Instantly makes the offense better. Long career ahead of him
93rd Selection Panthers select Zach Sanchez
Panthers need Corner help in a bad way.. not the only DB pick panthers will make.
106th Selection Bears select Charles Tapper
Big hole in the bears 5 tech. Need depth
153rd Selection Eagles Select Eric Striker
Eagles are moving to a attacking 4-3. Need pass rushers and quality ST play.
217th Selection Cowboys Select Dominque Alexander
    ST player and ILB depth..

    • Jpsooner23 says:

As a Raiders fan, I approve of Carr dealing to Shep and Coop for the next decade.
Although I think we probably address secondary with that pick – hopefully WVU safety.

    • RBear says:

      Shep will be a Chief

      • Birddawg says:

I would love to be wrong with that..
But the chiefs really like Conley and expect big things from him next season.
I don’t think we draft a WR.. even tho sterling would be awesome paired with JMAC/Kelce/JC.. Sterling would have tons of space to operate against mismatches.

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

    2016 ready more true storys——-

  • Daryl says:

The Draft is here. That is good news and it is bad news. The good news is that you are getting drafted and will have the chance to play a game for a living. The bad news is that you have control on where you go and the circumstances that come with that organization that could potentially ruin your chances to play a game for living.

So my question is not when will our Sooner boys be drafted but where do you feel are te best places for them to flourish and have career. READY BRAINIACS………..GO

  • SooperDave says:

I see that Isaiah Thomas got another Crystal Ball for OU today on 247sports.

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

    OP IS UP

  • leatherneck1061 says:

As a Broncos fan I personally would love the idea of Sammy going to Denver. His real NFL potential has just not been realized yet largely due to circumstances outside of his control (i.e. being on teams with almost no supporting cast).
