    Beat tcu BOOMERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Outstanding breakdown of how we attacked & stopped Baylor..

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

As always “It’s a great day to be a SOONER”!!!!!!! Like I have said repeatedly on here. Our beloved SOONERS get no respect. But hey our stats in the modern era speak for themselves.

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

    ND sucks Beat TCU

  • John Garner says:

Dusty’s analysis of BM was superb and spot on. BM getting into Oatman’s grill was the best part. I feel real confident going into the last two games, even going into Stillwater.

  • Jake says:

Been a LONG time since I’ve seen an OU team impose their will, week in, week out like these guys have.

Quite frankly, I don’t care what anybody else does/doesn’t do across the country. If OU continues to execute at this level, the CFB committee will be forced to put Oklahoma in the Top 4.

Average performances don’t capture national attention. All of the current praise is 100% warranted.

    Keep it going, Sooners!

    • Clint Lenard says:

Be forced to…lol they couldn’t care less what we think, these are arrogant pricks picking their favorites. It’s collusion and they’ll eventually get sued by conferences because of it.

  • Cincysooner says:

Joel Klatt does a great job making his points for the Big 12 and OU. I love it.

  • Swanny says:

Joel Klatt, the only person defending the Big 12. Isn’t it ridiculous that the league doesn’t have a better media relations team that can do things?

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Herbie was impressed with the physicality OU showed last weekend. It’s always good to have him backing OU, which he will be as long as they keep winning. He pretty much said Bama and OU are the two best teams right now.

    • Stephen Dale says:

and Klatt has a limited audience since he is on the FOX network…….need a voice on ESPiN and don’t really on…………………

      • Spitting Bull says:

well…………..we do have…………….herby…………….and a DOT DOT DOT for emphasis. (period)

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Awesome breakdown from Dusty. That dude is outstanding at breaking down football in an-depth, but enjoyable and easy to watch way. If all of the analysis I watched for the rest of my life had to be by him – instead of ESPN and Fox with that weirdo Brady Quinn – I’d be a happy man.

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Also, nice to see someone on a national scale standing up for the Big 12 and pointing out the bias and hypocrisy of the committee. Well done Joel

  • metzker says:

Madison Ward my my o my

  • Daryl says:

    Joel Klatt AMEN

Sooners keep that edge and don’t sleep on TCU. Need a decisive win to silence the media haters.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Dont sleep on TCU is right. Patterson is one helluva coach in situations like this. We better be “Baylor psyched” for this game or we’ll have our hands full.

  • Indy_sooner says:

Bowlsby needs to be kicked so hard out of the Big 12 if there is not a Big 12 team in the CFB this year. We shouldn’t need Joe Klatt defending us, where the hell is our commissioner in all this? #onetruechampion

    • SoonerMagic76 says:

I have to say, it’d be hard to argue for keeping him if the Big 12 doesn’t send someone (assuming it’s either an undefeated OSU or a one-loss OU, I think Baylor and TCU have next to a 0% chance now)..

    • Spitting Bull says:

Agreed, we are outnumbered with only one rep being part of the committee. Tech Ad? We need to change that to even it out.

  • Matt says:

This is OUr year. This team will win a national championship IF the committee lets them in. The only contender that could even hang with OU is Bama with their nasty d-line but the heart that this Sooner team has would overcome the talent deficit they’d have when facing Bama. We have our Tim Tebow this year. Baker has Tebow’s leadership with Manziel’s improve ability with accuracy that neither of them came close to having. We may have our own version of the ’08 gators. I honestly think the only thing that could keep this team from winning 4 more games is the committee. But if the Sooner Magic really is flowing this year, someone in front of us will lose and force the committee to put us in. Even if they don’t win a ‘ship, this team has definitely become one of my favorite Sooner teams of all time.

  • Maverick says:

I get that Klatt is sticking up for the Big XII, but I’m not sure I want him as the conference mouthpiece. I think he’s mostly just doing exactly what he’s complaining about, which is trying to drum up more viewers for his network. That’s his job. I get it.

None of his arguments are all that strong imo and it feels like he’s reaching.

How about we just take care of our own business and see where the dust settles at then end. If we lose out to Notre Dame, can we really be that mad? The Texas loss is the worst loss in the potential top 4, with the Bama loss not much better.

If the committee goes with stats and “who’s hot”, we’ll be in great shape IF we finish 11-1.

    Always,

    Capt. Obvious

    • Indy_sooner says:

I start by saying I agree on us winning out before we start trumpeting. But I disagree on him being a mouthpiece. Him having his network is irrelevant when you are referring to the way the committee has shifted goalposts. He has a lot of valid points, even when you take OU out of the equation.

    • Jared William Reininger says:

Yeah I agree with a lot of what you said. I think if we were undefeated right now we would be #1 or #2….but we aren’t. I literally heard one person say, “Well, Ole Miss and Bama have a bit of a rivalry so you never know what to expect,” then turn around and say the loss to Texas was inexcusable for OU, because you know, there isn’t a rivalry there or anything.

I think the committee is going to have to tread carefully. Right now a lot of people are pointing out that their logic is just not sound, the rules they apply to one team do not apply to others it would seem. I think their final rankings could cause a bit of turmoil and honestly I think may force their hand in reintroducing computers as a PART of the whole calculation.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

        Stuart Mandel:

“I would, however, strongly object if he came out and said, “Notre Dame beat Texas 38-3 in Week 1, Texas beat Oklahoma 24-17 in Week 6, therefore Notre Dame is better than Oklahoma.” Oh, how I hate the common-opponent game — especially when it involves games played two to three months ago. Case in point: “Ole Miss beat Alabama, Memphis beat Ole Miss, therefore Memphis is better than Alabama.” Or, “Michigan State beat Oregon, Nebraska beat Michigan State, therefore Nebraska is better than Oregon.” It’s so stupid. And yet the official committee protocol does list “comparative outcomes of common opponents” as one of the criteria.”

        • Jared William Reininger says:

Yep. I honestly think the BCS should have stayed or been kept as a factor and just had a 4 team playoff. This committee thing is showing lots of bias and even more problems than the BCS could ever have.

          • SamSooner says:

Agreed. Use the BCS and take the top 4 teams.

          • SoonerinLondon says:

I liked the BCS during those “middle years” when the computers had more control than the humans. It seemed much more quantifiable.

            I still prefer the BCS.

        • SamSooner says:

Common opponent should be thrown out on the basis that very few team, 127 of them, that are not in the same conference will have a common opponent, if you’re ranked that high. Which again, given the fact the SEC always gets favored, are the only teams ranked in the top 10 likely to have common opponents.

    • SamSooner says:

I disagree with your first paragraph. You have to remember, Klatt played QB at Colorado. I think he is sincere in his sentiment and he feels strongly that the Big XII is being hosed. He’s not spouting off without giving you facts to support his argument. How many times have seen any analyst do that? If you doubt his sincerity, see if you can punch a hole in his arguments.

“None of his arguments are all that strong imo and it feels like he’s reaching.” Why do you feel this way? What has he not answered for you?

His logic is sound enough, that even if it wasn’t for the Big XII, I’d want to hear what else he has to say. He has my attention.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Agreed. His arguments have weight because this committee is capricious in its assessment and selection criteria. They have no one but themselves to blame for their current lack of credibility. We can point out that the loss to Texas is ugly, and it was, but that is still a separate issue. This committee has abandoned even the pretense of objectivity.

        • SamSooner says:

I loved it when Klatt said, “when they say they can’t explain it is the first clue that they don’t know why.”

          • Golfluvr13 says:

And the other point, that only one network has a say in it… and by chance that network loves the sec… go figure.

    • SoonerGoneEast says:

See where the dust settles? The time to speak up is when you recognize the problem, not after the damage can’t be undone.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Personally I dont believe that the loss to Texas as bad as it was should be the be all and say all deciding factor. There are Many other factors that should decide who is in or out. If OU were to play ND today on a neutral field how many really believe ND would win? I sure dont. Sorry but a loss 2 months ago isnt my only criteria on who should be going to the playoffs. Who is the better team right now?

  • Cory Reedy says:

    JUST. WIN. OUT. JWO

    • bjwalker82 says:

that should be our only priority, everything else is secondary. Let the chips fall where they may.

      • Spitting Bull says:

If we don’t win out, we’ll all look pretty foolish worrying about it. So yeah. Let’s just win them all, one at a time.

  • Jordan Esco says:

Looks like somebody is back on Twitter.

    https://twitter.com/Baker6Mayfield/status/667349243322081281

  • leatherneck1061 says:

I don’t think Klatt’s arguments are reaching at all. Saying the committee is “cooking the books” is unusual of course, but at some point fans have to realize that all the standard non-conspiratorial explanations have become inadequate. There is absolutely no way whatsoever to justify tOSU being in the top 4 and not the pukes. Can’t be done. This is not boxing – you don’t get ranked like you have the belt until someone takes it away. The buckeye’s body of work is absolutely pathetic, because they have played absolutely no one. And everyone knows it.

Neither should LSU have rocketed up to #2 when they had played such a miserable OOC schedule as well as having no real notable victories. This committee is not using any standardized criteria. They are simply selecting who they like and applying whatever criteria is favorable to that team. Like when their criteria for tOSU is “well, we think their best football is still to come” or “we treat them differently because that’s what the public wants.”

This is like a bad joke.

    • Jared William Reininger says:

Look at the teams in the top 4. 3 of 4 are some of the biggest brands in CF. It is about money. Surprised to see Texas isn’t in the top 4 honestly.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

cooking the books is a good analogy though, I mean TCU falls to 18 so if OU beats them as i kind of expect they do(48-13) they fall completely from the rankings and a win over a 2 loss team isn’t even a good win in their eyes.

      • Jared William Reininger says:

When I saw they dropped TCU to 18 I couldn’t believe my eyes. Pathetic. Truly pathetic.

      • Jared William Reininger says:

I was also thinking…let us say for speculations sake, OSWHO wins out (dodges beer bottles being thrown) how do they defend that position? I mean they are going to set themselves up like they did last year when they blatantly screwed TCU. No sorrow for Baylor but TCU got screwed last year. It could very easily happen to us or OSU at this point. Prepare yourselves.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

OSU wins out they are in. An unbeaten P5 conference champ getting left out is a precedent to let 2 SEC teams in within the next 4 years

    • OUn8v says:

To me, the most glaring example of “cooking the books” is the committee moving Ol Miss up to #22 after being idle this past weekend and getting beat the weekend prior.

      • Walter Sobcek says:

Well, in all fairness, they really did trounce bye week. Kicked them real good.

        • Fear The Magic says:

True buy Bye weeks QB was injured and out of the game.

        • SoonerGoneEast says:

Ole Miss gets credit for playing bye week and claws its way back into the Top 25, but last year bye week played the spoiler and tore hell outa TCU in the final week. They dropped from 3 to 6 and missed the playoffs.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

And then some football geniuses decided the appropriate bowl matchup for the co B12 champ (whose only loss was by 3 at Waco) was 3-loss, 3rd in their division, 5th in the SEC Ole Miss. There were actually clowns predicting an Ole Miss victory. The final score of 42-3 should have been an eye opener for these people.

          • DrewChubbs says:

But everybody knows that mighty sec teams don’t get motivated to play when championships aren’t on the line. Sheesh! /s applied heavily to this statement.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

To be fair, it is hard to get up for a bowl game after running the gauntlet that is the SEC schedule.

      • crazyb says:

Ole Piss jumps from unranked to 22 after a bye week, but Wisconsin stays put at 25 after their bye. What gives?

    • Fear The Magic says:

This line said it all and is exactly how I believe many of us feel as well.

“They are simply selecting who they like and applying whatever criteria is favorable to that team”

    • Patrick Rice says:

LSU also didn’t get to play their first game, and although the team was no good, playing 1 less game has to hurt their overall resume’.

  • Collin says:

Went to look at Bama’s remaining schedule hoping to see an upset this weekend and oh…….Charleston Southern. Sure do love that SEC strength of schedule.

    • Golfluvr13 says:

Does not surprise me, but I read somewhere that Nicky boy is trying to go back to the No Fun League.

  • Fear The Magic says:

As I see it the only way to force our way into the playoffs since obviously the committee is hell bent on stopping a Big 12 team from getting there is to give them absolutely no choice. How do we do that? We have to dominate both TCU and Okla St. Two top teams. We need to win both games by 21 points or more. Thats a very tall task but if we can pull that off I dont see how they can deny OU a spot in the final 4.

    • SamSooner says:

Consider this: tOSU lost to VT last year, who lost to ECU. VT finished the regular season at 6-6. No one asked tOSU to explain that loss nor was it ever brought up.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

Yes, but they are asking us to explain ours…especially since our chief competition to the last spot (ND) beat Texsa 38-3.

I think Fear has it correct. We need to approach these last two games the way we approached the last games in 2008, after losing to Texsa and having to pass them in the BCS.

We need to win big, with style. That needs to be the objective and I suspect BS, having been through this before, knows exactly how to get the team motivated for it.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Style points if possible are a must

  • DrewChubbs says:

You know…all this playoff speculation and the fact that the Big 12 may get jobbed 2 years in a row can be blamed squarely on Texsa. Their bs blew up what was a very solid conference. Their fall off the cliff into mediocrity, due to their complacency and patting themselves on the back for how they maneuvered the conference to be another of their puppets, and their we can do what we want because we’re Texass attitude has destroyed the perception of what is left. I just wasn’t born with enough middle fingers to salute those fartbags the way they deserve

  • Hartshorne Miner says:

Many sports sites and talking heads are pointing to Bedlam as the game “likely” to decide the Big12 champ and contender for a playoff position. Why no conversation about OSU and Baylor? It’s like it’s being taken for granted that the Pokes will take care of business. I’ve seen references to how long it has been since Baylor won in Stillwater but I think that is mostly irrelevant. Most relevant is Baylor’s mindset after having their playoff dream shattered. Will they man-up and show some pride and play the Pokes with the same intensity they played the Sooners? Will Broyles go jail-break and throw the kitchen sink at them? Personally I’m hoping Baylor brings it and OSU comes to Bedlam with their heads hung low. Thoughts?

  • crazyb says:

My buddy who worked for Baylor athletics last year just told me he heard that Stidham is out vs. OSU this week. Good or bad for OU? I think good because it helps OSU win but bad because it may weaken our win and/or SOS.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Just in case anyone missed it, I posted this yesterday. It’s the “monster set” of OOC games the SEC has slated for this weekend. Makes one tremble in fear just to look at it, so try not to be overwhelmed. Remember, when it comes to strength of schedule, even the titans of the mighty SEC have to pull the freight:

    Alabama vs Charleston Southern
    Georgia vs Georgia Southern
    Kentucky vs Charlotte
    South Carolina vs Citadel
    Auburn vs Idaho
    Florida vs FAU

    Fear the awesomeness.

    • Collin says:

It’s almost as if their thinking is, “Hmmmm…..if we tuck it at the back end of our schedule maybe no one will notice.”

  • Daddy R says:

Man, all this playoff crap is still sooooo premature. Got to win the next two, or all this is irrelevant. One. Game. At. A. Time.

    BEAT TCU!!!

  • Daddy R says:

Man, all this playoff crap is still sooooo premature. Got to win the next two, or all this is irrelevant. One. Game. At. A. Time.

    BEAT TCU!!!

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Probably right. If we go out Saturday and $%!# the bed, this whole conversation becomes immediately irrelevant.
