    BOOMER!!!!

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Saw some pretty tacky signs last night on Twitter about Mixon that are expected to be taken to GameDay. Not surprised. Maybe Joe will see some of them and use it as further motivation.

  • Tim A says:

    I like Samantha Ponder

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Coach Art’s big, fat tight end just wasn’t fat enough. Again.

There is a Reckoning tonight, and all of CFB will be made right again. Boomah!

  • Ryan says:

I’ve got a major problem, fellas. My satellite dish for directv either is iced over, or got messed up by all the falling branches last night, and isn’t working!!!!!

    • EasTex says:

Get busy, then. You have about ten hours to get it fixed.

    • EasTex says:

It’s on ABC, some rabbit ears will do in a pinch.

    • SamSooner says:

      Dang, dude. That sucks.

Who’s your cable provider? I’ll bet you can get cable installed today.

Is your internet working? If your internet is working, you can probably watch in on your computer, iPad. If you can get the game on your iPad or computer, Apple TV will let you mirror it on your TV.

    • Oscar says:

That’s nothing, the courier that delivers my caviar had a fender bender and is late. The latch on the wine cellar door is jammed, and my wife sent ALL my ascots to the dry cleaner at the same time. I’m watching game day getting updates from my butler. WHAT a distraction!!

    • Tinycop says:

Watch ESPN app on your phone, iPad, tablet, Ect. If u have one of course. You have to log on with username and password from your satellite provider.

    • brainpimp says:

Use a bottle of 70% isopropyl alcohol (50% works, too, but not as well) with a few drops of dish soap. Apply liberally to the dish.

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

I’ve had to re-position an iced-over satellite dish out in the cold standing on a very wet and slipper ladder. Hard to get the wrench to turn properly with frozen fingers. Best of luck to you.

  • SoonerinLondon says:

Never been a big fan of Lester, but I have to give him credit for the way he’s handled the last week. Very impressive bit of class.

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

Seems like the whole Game Day show has been the Lester Show so far. Ugh. Enough already. $EC $EC

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

OU baby…This is it. Step 1.

  • WilliamJack says:

BOOMER SOONER! Take no prisoners!!! Leave NO doubt!!! OU RULES the Big 12!

Let it be said……………Let it be done!

  • Sooner Ray says:

Won’t be able to watch any tv until early afternoon, so if anyone has time and ability to throw up any good game day tid bits…TIA.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Hey Les, “Let er’ Rip.”

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

So, no rain? Looks icy. Updated forecast 28 and 50% of rain?

  • Chris White says:

Happy Gameday! I’m thankful for TFB, Sooner Nation and lots of Turkey!

  • soonerthunder says:

According to OSU players, les miles told them that he wasn’t going anywhere and to ignore the rumors about him leaving. Come to find out he had already accepted his new coaching job. He flat out lied to his players.

If he did that then (and I believe that he did), I wouldn’t trust him today on TV saying he didn’t say that today was his last home game.

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

This is all they have going for them I guess.

  • SamSooner says:

Folks, Stoops as been able to get his team to perform at a high level when it means more than just another win. Tonight is not about another win. It’s about a championship, a Big XII Championship.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

It’s also about a playoff birth. Big Game Bob.

    • soonerthunder says:

I think another good thing OU has going for it is the way last year’s game went. BS is a big-time competitor. I think he’s worked hard for this game. I just hope the weather doesn’t hurt us.

      • Ed Cotter says:

Weather could be more of a detriment to Okie State who doesn’t have much of a run game, where OU runs quite well. We’ll see.

        • soonerthunder says:

See I don’t see it that way. I worry that if it’s like the TCU/BU game, neither team can throw, but neither team can run either: 1. the weather; 2. the other team makes even more of a concerted effort to load up against the run. So, no OSU can’t run, but neither can OU in similar conditions to last night. I think it just lowers OU to OSU’s level in the run game. OU could not run any better than TCU/BU ran last night in those same conditions. Then the game is a toss-up, and I don’t like this game to be decided on successful punts and fielding punts when we have the better team.

I worry that slippery conditions just lowers OU’s run potential to OSU’s and makes the game a toss-up. I want a dry, non-slippery field when we have (I think) the superior team.

        • soonerthunder says:

IMO the game is like this on a good day:
OU O pass game vs OSU pass D = OU advantage
OU O run game vs OSU run D = OU advantage
OSU O pass game vs OU pass D = equal
OSU O run game vs OU run D = OU advantage

          IMO on a slippery field:
OU O pass game vs OSU pass D = OSU advantage
OU O run game vs OSU run D = OSU
OSU O pass game vs OU pass D = OU
OSU O run game vs OU run D = OU

The game becomes a toss-up to me on a slippery field like we saw last night. I don’t see OU being any more successful running than either TCU or BU was last night on a slippery field.

  • soonerthunder says:

Anyone think Billings and Coleman will go pro this year?

    • soonerthunder says:

Hey Hunter–if Coleman goes nfl, BU loses 2 out of 3 of their top WRs, 4 out of 5 OL, and top 2 TEs. If Billings goes, BU loses all 4 starting DL.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

OU is going to lose 2 of our starting WR’s, 4 of our top 7 OL, Tapper, Striker, and Bond. Really not all that different. OU will be good next year. And Baylor will be good next year.

        • soonerthunder says:

I see a lot of difference.

I think 2 starting OU OL can be replaced pretty easily, and as for the other 2 (Farniok/StJohn), definitely will be better there. I think OU looks to be better on the OL and at the backup positions. I don’t think anyone would say BU will be better next year on the OL. OU=upward trend here; BU=downward trend next year.

We return something like 15 out 16 DL (may be exaggerating), losing only Tapper. BU losing all 4 starting DL, and two of them being Billings and Oakman = downward trend. OU = upward easily. Even Tapper might can be replaced.

At WR I see Coleman = Shep, so that’s a wash.

I think BU will be good, like you said, but I don’t see them being as good as they were this year, not with their OL/DL. Could be wrong, but that’s what it looks like to me.

        • brainpimp says:

4 of 7 top OL, um no.

        • Boom says:

Darlington will be a lose along with his leadership. However, losing Nila, Farniok, & St John will not slow us down. Tap is only DL guy so we will be in great shape.

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

I would think so. I would if I were either one of them.

    • blaster1371 says:

A wolf to destroy the sheep lovers!

    • Boom says:

This was Baylor’s year. All the pieces were in place for the run. Then injuries and the rest is history. They will have a new OL & DL next year and lose way to many WRs. They will always have WRs but the defense will be weak.

  • RBear says:

Just wanted to remind you what osu’s O will be looking at all night long:

  • Boomer4life says:

Looks like the rain will stop right at game time!

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

Herbie had a great comment on Lester’s problems and so did Corso. Herbie said that Lester needs to find an O-Coordinator like Lincoln Riley and get an offensive identity. Corso followed it up and said Lester should talk to one Bob Stoops to figure out how to turn it around. Very nice compliments I thought.

Garth Brooks>Toby Keith ????? Wow! Some inbred cowchoker actually stayed up all night crafting this masterpiece!!

  • soonerthunder says:

A lot of the lower ranked teams seem to be losing this weekend. I wish Tenn and WV would inch back into the top 25. I think we’re in anyway if we win, but it would help our resume even more, beating 5 of the current top 25 teams.

  • RBear says:

Got to think this young man is pumped.

Does anyone know why there is always a Washington State flag flying on ESPN Gameday?

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Why does Desmond always picks against OU?

Him and Joey Galloway pillow talk about their hate for ou

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

I think one member of the cast has to go with underdog no matter what. He’s expendable.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Not sure but I was wondering the same.

    • Birddawg says:

      He loves to be wrong

    • soonerthunder says:

why? B/c he’s wants OU to lose. Very biased.

Did you hear his reasons for OSU winning? “OSU has had a rough time stopping the run and OU runs very well, but I think OSU has learned from the BU on what they did wrong in defending against the run, and I think OSU will win the special teams (he didn’t give a reason) and keep the field short for OSU, therefore, I think OSU wins.”

    • Boomer4life says:

Maybe he slipped and fell on the ice and bumped his head.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

He has been picking ND for the playoff for weeks. He needs OU out of the way to say “I told you so” for ND in the playoff.

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

Probably one of the most interesting articles I’ve read in some time. ESPN has outlays of $6B per year for sporting events rights, but their cable subscription fees are falling fast due to cable cord cutters. ESPN could be broke in a few short years. What will happen?

    http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/outkick-the-coverage/espn-has-lost-7-million-subscribers-the-past-two-years-112515

    • Zack says:

I don’t think ESPN will go broke any time soon.

      • SoonerOracle737 says:

Did you read the article and look at the numbers?

        • Boom says:

Disney owns ESPN so if they need capital I’m sure they will keep them afloat. However, I found it interesting that the ACC commish was pissed at ESPN for delaying their network.

          • SoonerOracle737 says:

Businesses don’t operate out of the kindness of their hearts. If they are losing billions that won’t last for long.

          • Bob Edwards says:

Since they are already jettisoning high dollar employees and laying off other works I would say you are right. ESPN seems to be following the path of a lot of fast growing companies. They think it will go on for ever and keep spending like they will have more next year that this year. When they hit a peak they can crash pretty hard because they never really learned how to manage their money along the way.

          • Boom says:

I get it but I’m curious what they have planned.

          • SoonerOracle737 says:

Me too, and that was really my main point of original post. Cha, cha, cha, changes. I’ll just be thankful for lessened influence on CFB landscape.

        • Zack says:

I read that but it is written by a fox writer so I don’t know how accurate all his information is. And he reported the numbers prior to college and NFL football seasons. I bet they have about 3 million more subscribers. But also they’re probably talking about the current rate at which ESPN makes per cable subscriber without mentioning what that rate was 2 years ago. Say it was $1.00 less.
One thing that is interesting is you will probably see less and less of their own commercials and therefore make more money on advertising.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

It takes a long time for the revenue tail of a subscription business to end. Dropping revenue doesn’t equal going out of business. Even losing money doesn’t equal going out of business until it reaches a point where the other company business can’t compensate for the loss.

ESPN’s business demographics may be changing, but they are not going belly-up anytime soon.

        • Zack says:

Plus any new contracts they have may be making more income than they were receiving previously. I’m sure they are on harder times but I don’t think it has anything to do with losing interest just people trying to pick and choose their desired programming

          • SoonerOracle737 says:

Cable subscriptions are dropping like a rock and continue to do so irrespective of ESPN contracts. ESPN revenues will fall with those loss of subscribers. Changes will happen, but what exactly they are nobody knows.

          • SamSooner says:

Look for the prices to drop once the cable companies renegotiate their contracts with ESPiN.

    • Rick says:

Its the American way for a lot of American business. Spend until you’re broke, borrow until you’re flush again. Spend until you’re broke again, bankruptcy, reorganize. New name, improved, spend until you’re broke again.

      • SoonerOracle737 says:

I suppose the obvious thing that will happen is that they will sell some rights or not renew contracts. This will lessen their powerful influence that they exploit now. Things will change soon enough.

        • Rick says:

Who knows, could be a spinoff of the ABC affiliate, Fox may pick up a market share. An entirely new network could spin to pick up the market. FS1 could be the new ESPN2

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

On a personal note – the only thing that has kept me from cutting the cable cord has been live sporting events on ESPN networks. That could soon change.

      • Daddy R says:

Check out Sling TV. Has worked great for me, especially if you only use cable for espn. $20 a month, no contracts, and I get espn, espn2, amc, tnt, tbs, History, H2, and several others… So much better than any cable deal I ever had. It’s internet tv, so you have to stream it to your tv through a roku, or amazon fire stick… Not sure if appletv has an app for it.

        its sling.com I believe..

        • EasTex says:

          I’ll stick with Time-Warner.
I get broadband, HD tv with several hundred channels plus the sports package for about $61 a month. I don’t do movies unless they are free, so the netflix thing means nothing.

    • DCinAZ says:

      Let’s hope so.

    • brainpimp says:

The only thing that will save cable is debundling. Way too many crap channels taking a bite of the pie. We watch about 6 total channels out of 250.

There are a bunch of channels that will necessarily need to go away.

      • Daddy R says:

Thats why I use SlingTV! I get espn, espn 2, several other sports channels, and like 20 others like AMC, TNT, TBS, etc… Only $25 dollars a month (its $20, but I have the extra sports package for 5 bucks more…) And no contracts. I can cancel anytime. It really has been the perfect compliment for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. I havent used cable tv in well over 5 years…

Cord cutting has been great on my end!

      • SamSooner says:

It has nothing to do with the “crap channels.” It has everything to do with what ESPiN is asking, per subscriber. The people who are cutting the “cable cord” are probably the one’s who don’t like sports, have no need for sports. In short, ESPiN is not getting the revenue it was once getting.

It is unreal what they charge per subscriiber.

        • brainpimp says:

I respectfully disagree. Crap channels drive the base price up for the most popular packages. The people cutting the cord are EVERYONE. I love sports and I am looking for alternatives because the cost to value is getting ridiculous.

          • SamSooner says:

I see your point. Maybe I was too absolute in my comment. Thanks for calling me on that. The point I was trying to make is that ESPiN has more to do with the high cost of cable than most of the other channels combined.

          • brainpimp says:

Oh I totally agree they are the majority of the base cost but they also spend way more than the others. Then you have the next 58 channels combined that don’t get the same number of eyes as 1 primetime sporting event. The cost of the rest of them as a group doubles the package cost. If I could just pay for the channels I watch, they would get the same or more than they do currently. I don’t want to pay for MSNBC or LMN or any of the other 9000 channels of crap.

          • SamSooner says:

There is this IP technology that’s out there.

          • brainpimp says:

Seriously considering, if I can get my HD.

  • KJ1123 says:

Thats a good start…..Corso picked the pokes…..LETS GO!

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Yep…..Corso picked the pukes. If history is any guide that all but guarantees a victory for the good guys! 🙂

  • Daddy R says:

Whew! Thank Goodness Corso picked the Pokes.. Let’s go boys!! BOOOOOMER!!

  • leatherneck1061 says:

I have to say though I was rather flabbergasted that David Pollack actually picked the Sooners. Started to think I had just entered an alternate reality.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Michigan or ?

    • leatherneck1061 says:

I have been picking Michigan to win this one for a while now, but I have to wonder if maybe Herbie has a point. After the humiliation tOSU just endured a week ago, you have to wonder if we just might see a different team with a different attitude today. If anyone in CFB has something to prove this week it’s them.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

True. We play OhioSU the next two-years.

        • leatherneck1061 says:

I’m still in awe looking at our schedule next year. If that doesn’t get ranked #1 most difficult schedule in CFB next year somebody’s smoking crack.

          • Rick says:

Most of the stuff I have been reading is saying OUr schedule is about the strongest next season of any team.

      • DCinAZ says:

Yeah but a lot of them said they were leaving and not coming back after the MSU loss. Some of them even called out their coach publicly. They could easily come out mentally checked out of the game looking to the future and get their butts kicked.

        • leatherneck1061 says:

The reports we’ve had this week are that they have come back together. Supposedly Elliott apologized and he and the coaches had their come to Jesus moment. Who knows how true it is or not, but Herbie expects they’re going to come out fired up and ready to make a statement. Guess we’ll find out.

          • DCinAZ says:

That would be an amazing coaching job. I don’t know how you bring a team back together and get them to care when most of them are ready to leave.

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

      Go Big Blue.

    • soonerthunder says:

I can’t stand OSU, but I detest Harbaugh and Mich. So, for me, osu

  • blaster1371 says:

Didn’t Briles look broken after the TCU game. Talk about a team that was the best its ever been and on the verge of breaking into the playoffs just have it all crumble apart. He had that kicked in the nuts look after OU beat them and then again at the end of the TCU game. Still hope they beat the shorthorns like a drum.

    • Daddy R says:

He also looked rather frozen. That damn game weather was crazy. Raining with a windchill of 28? wth? supposed to be snow when its that cold! Hopefully the players and coaches have their pneumonia drugs at the ready…

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Zeek just ripped off a big run

  • leatherneck1061 says:

And tOSU is on the board with 7. Herbie may be right after all.

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

If tOSU wins today and beats Iowa, does tOSU get back into playoff?

      • leatherneck1061 says:

No. They lost too much credibility at this point. They can get into a New years day bowl maybe but only 1 team from the B1G is getting in, and that will likely be MSU or Iowa at this point.

        • Daddy R says:

If OU and ND lost, It would be down do tOSU, OSUaggie, and Stanford for the last two spots.. (assuming tOSU won out..) Lets not focus on this particular scenario!

          • leatherneck1061 says:

I agree it’s not impossible, but IMO too many other things have to fall in place for it to happen. It’s kind of like the scenarios that have been floated for the Gators getting in. I just don’t see it this year.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Maybe. Probably depends how they win today and against Iowa, and certainly what else happens around the country.

      • Bob Edwards says:

If Mich State beats PSU then tOSU doesn’t get to play Iowa so they won’t be their conference champs, so probably no.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

What Bob Edwards said. If MSU loses to Penn St, then yeah I’d say tOSU will beat the Hawkeyes and get into the playoff. Only the conference champ will get in, so if MSU wins today all tOSU will have to make their case is one impressive win today. The collective response to that will be “too little, too late.”

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

I want the D to feed on their flesh. I want the O to plunder their souls. I want a valley of dry bones. I want a pile of stones marking the Bedlam Massacre of 2015. Fold the circus tents, T. Boone. We have crossed the Alps, and all your pretty little things will burn with the frustration of too many disappointing seasons. Our time has come. Your time is up. Tell the women and children to stay home.

    #Reckoning

  • Daddy R says:

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOMER!

  • leatherneck1061 says:

The thing to remember about tOSU is that even if they play strong these last 2 games, they have been exposed to the world as having been a mediocre fraud up to this point in the season. They could look like the best team in their league, but they would still have a big hurdle to get over with all the scrutiny their resume has been getting lately. Anything is possible, but unless several other teams lose I think they’re going to get frozen out this year.

    • Brent says:

fraud is a little rough…it’s usually tougher to defend the title because of complacency and being told how great you are for the past 12 months…

      • leatherneck1061 says:

You have a point. But I would ask complacency? or entitlement? I think it’s more the latter. But regardless of how good they may be, their performance all year has been pitifully mediocre.

        • blaster1371 says:

I think alot of those juniors and seniors on tOSU are just marking off days until they can begin prepping for the draft.

    • aklibtard says:

I don’t know that I’d call them a mediocre fraud. They are 11-1. They just smashed the #10 team in the country on the road. The only game they lost came on a last play FG. tOSU may not be the best team in the country this year, but mediocre they’re not.

      • leatherneck1061 says:

Regardless of their talent or potential, their performance all year has been mediocre. Look at their schedule. Mediocre competition, and mediocre wins over that mediocre competition. Today is pretty much the first time they have actually looked impressive all year.

  • SamSooner says:

Clemson is looking average against the South Carolina.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Poor Michigan. If only they had been the ones to play tOSU last week instead of MSU. This buckeye team indeed looks like a totally different animal now.
