If you care, Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow.

Several OU guys listed, including (much to my continued surprise) Dom Alexander (in this person’s opinion) getting drafted ahead of both Sanchez & Tapper.

Good morning Brainiacs! Let’s get some Booms today and tomorrow!

    • Birddawg says:

Good morning, another great day to be a sooner.

      • SoonerMagic76 says:

        Heck yes it is Bird!

      • Stephen Dale says:

absolutely. tomorrow is signing day and then the class of 2016 can be forgotten as we move on to discuss targets for 2017 ! hopefully today is the day for news on the Jones boys, Kelly, and Mayden…..looks like Daniels will stay in Texas, Tupai in Utah, and Jacobs to Missouri……

        • Jim Casy says:

I’ve been seeing too many of those little clover icons on Kelley’s Twitter the past couple of days. Don’t like it.

          • Stephen Dale says:

I don’t have a twitter account but its been a 50 /50 deal between OU/ND for the last 2-3 wks. Really no surprise which team he signs with……

          • Ryan says:

I bet he’s been all OU the whole time. He has just wanted to make it dramatic till signing day. Not taking the serious interest level in ND seriously.

          • Stephen Dale says:

hopefully, Ryan, you will be proven right tomorrow… OU needs Kelly more than ND does………

    • Golfluvr13 says:

Morning 76, how are you today?

      • SoonerMagic76 says:

About 5 times better than I deserve. Getting married next month! what about you Golf?

        • Golfluvr13 says:

I’m good! Congrats! I celebrate 16 blissful years of marriage this month. We got 6 inches of snow last night, so I’m taking off around noon to take my wife around town to run her errands. Seems the city of Garden City, KS does not believe in plowing the streets.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

            Thanks! Congrats on 16 years!

Now that’s a nice little snow. I’m no expert, but the city plowing it would probably help quite a bit. Around the OKC area we got some rain last night

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Yeah, the city believes in cleaning off the “main” roads and that’s it. UGH! So I’ll drive her around this afternoon. My Dad would prefer rain for his wheat, but we will take any drop of moisture we can get at this point.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

What turkeys. Yeah gotta get something wet for the wheat.

          • AgedBill says:

Congratulations to you both! A good marriage is a true boon.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

            Thanks!

        • metzker says:

          Congrats

        • Stephen Dale says:

hope you have convinced the fiancé a PRE NUPTIAL agreement is a good idea…no idea if you enter the marriage with financial assets but that certainly protects you and any previous kids ….good luck.

        • Golfluvr13 says:

Gotta share this little joke with you about marriage:

The Bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand.

Everyone in the room was wondering what was given to the father by the bride. The father could feel the suspense in the air and all eyes were on him to divulge the secret and say something.

So he announced: “Ladies and Gentlemen, today is the luckiest day of my life.” Then he raised his hands with what his daughter gave him and said, “My daughter has finally returned my Credit Card to me!!!”

The whole audience burst into laughter. But one was in complete silence… The Groom!

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

That would a whole lot funnier to me if I weren’t the groom……. but I still chuckled haha

          • Stephen Dale says:

Maintaining separate checking accounts works for some couples but not so well for others. In two income households, agreeing to separate accounts helps alleviate spending issues , particularly if the lady has been independent and maintaining her own home. Something you and she might discuss to find her comfort level for keeping some autonomy in regards to the finances…..some ladies find such confidence from their spouse reassuring ; others are too suspicious to ever become comfortable with the dynamics……..

          • AgedBill says:

My guess is the pastor who will officiate at the wedding has advised them to discuss finances, as well as other areas that should be discussed.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I thought it was funny. I just give my wife my paycheck anymore. It makes life easier. LOL

        • SamSooner says:

          Congratulations, SoonerM76!
Remember this: there will be good days and bad days. Some days it will be on auto-pilot and other days when it seems like you have no control. But, you married her because you love her. You have to want for the other person what you want for yourself: if you want to sit down, know that she wants to sit down. If you don’t want to do the dishes, know that she doesn’t want to do the dishes. All of these things have to did together so that resentment doesn’t enter your relationship.

My golden nugget to you is this: it’s not about right or wrong, it’s about harmony. Make sure there is harmony in your marriage.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

I’ll add one other piece of unsolicited advice: Marriage is 100/100, both have partners have to give 100% for it to work.

          • SamSooner says:

            Yes, sir. I completely agree.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

Thanks Sam! All good thoughts. Definitely starting to see that humility is a huge word for marriage. Harmony will be big too

          • SamSooner says:

Don’t stew on things and let them fester. Talk about things as soon as they occur. Admit when you’re wrong. Raise your hand if you feel wronged.

Learn to say: “When you said this or that, did this or that, I felt this…”

And this: ” I understand how you would feel that way when I did, this or that, when I said this or that, did this or that…”

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Sam is giving you some great advice! The other thing I was told when I was first getting married is to learn to not let little things bug you. Say your spouse does some little thing that sometimes annoys you, you have to learn to just ignore that.

          • SamSooner says:

Yepper: more good advice from Golf. Everything is not worth it. I prefer peace and quiet, when possible.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

That is why I have a TV and she has a TV. I watch football, she watches the Hallmark channel. LOL

          • SamSooner says:

You know you watch the Hallmark Channel. C’mon, fess up.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

Only around Christmas time. I don’t really have a choice then. Have you not been reading your own advice below? LOL

          • Stephen Dale says:

BOTH Hallmark channels are needed…Some decent stuff on both…..

          • Stephen Dale says:

as long as she understands YOU make the final decisions and honors what YOU decide .

        • Mr. Jones says:

Congrats! Try to outserve her and always be the lead apologizer (even when you don’t feel like it) and you will have a long happy marriage.

        • Sooner Ray says:

Congrats. Say something nice to her now and then, they really like that stuff. 🙂

        • Bob Edwards says:

          Congrats.

        • SamSooner says:

Oh, one final thing: I hope you know better than to take the marital advice or any advice from he-who-must-not-be-named. If you do, you’ll end up just like him, alone and in your mother’s basement.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

I almost replied to some things he said, then decided (wisely, I think) that it was best just left alone. I didn’t see one shred of advice that I thought would strengthen my marriage. So no, not taking advice there.

          • SamSooner says:

You’re already on your way. I’m so proud. Sniff..sniff..sniff: no, I’m not crying. I have something in my eye.

          • SoonerMagic76 says:

Take your time, clear your eyes. It happens

          • Golfluvr13 says:

You are wise beyond your years! LOL

          • Stephen Dale says:

Sam : well I am divorced , actually do live alone now, and learned some lessons the hard way, thru court !! I stand by pre-nups as a wise business decision for any couple with existing assets. It offers protection for any guy who may have an existing family and protects those children…Magic 76 can make his own decisions and , hopefully, never live to rue taking the financial precautions mentioned earlier. Hope it works out for him…..

        • SoonerOracle737 says:

Congrats. Only advice I’ll put forward is to treat her like your best friend. That sentiment goes a long way. Good luck!

    • Stephen Dale says:

      sounds good to me…….

  • cush creekmont says:

    Yes! I was waiting.

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

    BOOMER

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

    Missed by two minutes.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Just sitting here thinking about this time tomorrow. Gonna be big.

  • Big Tiddays says:

If I was Seth Russell, I would use Baylor medical staff to get healthy and then declare for the draft. Why take the chance to get hurt in a college game again and not get paid?

  • Soonercntry says:

Good morning Sooner Nation! I’m not sure if we get a Boom today, but I’ve got a good feeling about tomorrow and the way it shakes out for the good guys.

  • Johnny Greenlantern Otis says:

i hope the mens team makes a final four run

  • Corey says:

“I’m the bomb like tick, tick, BOOM!” – 2016 OU recruiting class

  • Jason Vos says:

I love how we have closed in recruiting, but damn it looks like Texas is about to steal the show tomorrow

    • Golfluvr13 says:

5-7, just remember their bowl game, oh wait!

      • Birddawg says:

11-14.. no one player drafted in 2014..
Kids make stupid decisions. Just got to let them learn their lesson. Texsa sucks

        • Golfluvr13 says:

          Amen Bird!

        • Stephen Dale says:

Charlie has convinced them playing for a Black HC / coaching staff will make all the difference…hasn’t helped the past two season but victories over OU and Baylor last season didn’t hurt his sales pitch….

    • Jim Casy says:

Why? You think they are getting Fowler?

      • Stephen Dale says:

        sounds that way…….

        • Jim Casy says:

Might as well get it over with if it is gonna happen. It has been exhausting listening to their loud mouth WR commit going on and on about their “silent commits”.
I think they, Daniels, Jackson, Giles, Elliot and McCulloch. Maybe on the safety Brandon Jones.
If they somehow pulled off getting OT Hudson from Baylor, that would be huge.

          • Stephen Dale says:

very true , particularly if Hudson flips from Baylor….

          • Jim Casy says:

I would hate it because it is Texass but it would almost be worth it to think about Briles stress level. Baylor needs that guy.

    • Stephen Dale says:

set to sign C-Giles, Daniels, and the big DT from Houston plus Dontavious Jackson..some sites are predicting Texas will vault all the way into the top 10 by tomorrow evening. that remains to be seen.

    • SamSooner says:

“Steal” is the correct term and very appropriate, as OU is going to beat them like they stole something.

      • Stephen Dale says:

That hasn’t happened the past three years on the field…two losses and a Texas ‘give away’ due to fumbles / pics………OU needs to actually beat up Texas–not just talk about what they are going to do in the RRS…

  • metzker says:

    Morning Sam,Cush Leo,Ray,76

  • StL Sooner says:

EasTex are you out there? I’ve got tots! Come on home big boy.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Can’t wait for tomorrow!! Is there a chance we will over sign tomorrow, and have to ask someone to gray shirt? Looks like we could sign 24-25 tomorrow. Do you think they would ask Youngquist to gray shirt?

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Good Tuesday morning fellow Brainiacs. “It’s another great day to be a SOONER” So lets let the commenting begin and i will just sit back and stalk the board today. And maybe make a couple drive-bye comments. They could happen at any time so be prepared.

  • Zack says:

For those on Twitter be prepared to see the #KANAIinNORMAN tweets for the next 36 hours.

    • Jim Casy says:

I’m kinda glad he seemed to blow off those two troll accounts that were bashing on him.

      • Jim Casy says:

        *very glad

      • Brad Warren says:

It’s a bi product of being all over social media with your recruiting. Just like we see on here – 90% of posters are legit and solid – the rest are fake, trolling fans – yet they still stir the pot alot for such a small group

      • Zack says:

The sad thing is, I believe that one was a real ou fan. I think we really have fans dumb enough to do that.

  • Defend Colfax says:

Why is anyone surprised Texas is signing Blue chippers? That’s what they do every year. Now what will they do with that? Probably nothing, if history has shown us anything.

    • SoonerMagic76 says:

Even when they had Mack, their talent development is usually just awful. It never ceases to amaze me how little Texsa does with the talent they get, facilities they have, money they have, state they get to recruit in, etc. With all those things I mentioned, they should be finishing in the top 5 every single year…. and yet here they are after a 5-7 season. Beautiful.

    • Jim Casy says:

3 Big12 titles or something like that.

      • Defend Colfax says:

Exactly. Over two decades and that’s it. The whole time you’re dressed like a dog turd. It’s a joke. Texas sucks.

        • Birddawg says:

Large alumni base, richest athletic dept, and good education.
With that said, they go 11-14 in two seasons.
Coach is coaching for his job this season.
They have taken a serious hit in guys getting drafted.
          Irrelevant after non-con.
IMO, if I had an offer anywhere else..I wouldn’t go to Texsa. There better schools academically if that’s all you could sell me on… But I’m a football player.. In the end I want to get Drafted.
          Players in NFL… Texsa 31.. OU 36..
          Texsa sucks

          • Jim Casy says:

That and a degree from OU would get you a job at 99 percent of the places Texas would. It is just a male organ measuring contest that Texas happens to win with all their money.

    • @DallasSooner says:

Pretty sure they’ve won a Natty since we did.

    • John Garner says:

Not to be a smartass, but they did kick our ass.

      • Jim Casy says:

They were also shutout like 24-0 against Iowa State and other atrocities. That RRR outcome still has me scratching my head.

        • John Garner says:

Yup. Which makes our butt-whipping even more painful. Sometimes I wonder about our coaches. We seemed so unmotivated and poorly prepared for saxeT. Our tackling was pathetic. More than a head-scratcher. Down right inexcusable.

  • Birddawg says:

Rivals top 250 recruits currently committed before signing day.
This is going to change a lot in the next 24-48 hours
    pic below.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Why is it that the Punxaureuabnjf!$@#$#-ney Phil only “sees” what the Dickensian-dressed, creepy guy says he sees? I say we replace the groundhog with a mole. Tell me what he sees now, Billy Wonka: “Here he comes. He sees. He sees, uh. Oh, goodness.”

[Stares out to a silent crowd of anxious fogies, retirees, and grandchildren forced to be there].

“Why, he. He sees an early spring!”

[Child in crowd]: “You lie, mister! How can you…”

“He sees it, okay? Look. No shadow. And there’s his eye. Now scram.”

[Mole’s keeper whispers into man’s ear]: “Sir, I think that’s the anus.”

  • Soonerbred says:

Does TX really have a place for all the DTs? Wilbon (committed), Christmas Giles, Daniels, Southall, Elliot and Taylor possible?

    • Defend Colfax says:

They didn’t really sign many on D line last year if I remember correctly. So they may have room but I assume someone signs elsewhere.

    • Ryan says:

The question is, why the heck would Daniels and Southall want to go to UT with that many DT’s being signed? Especially when OU has 0 DT’s right now. That should be common sense.

      • Soonerbred says:

That was my thinking. I guess if you RS 3 and play three, that makes up for the 0 they got last year.

        • Ryan says:

Another 5-7 season with a fired head coach while we make the playoffs again may have them deeply regretting their decisions. I hope they take that into consideration.

      • Oscar says:

Probably all have been told that they have a chance to start as a freshman. Promoting a pipe dream.

  • JJSoona says:

So I heard that my upside down horns moniker is in poor taste?? Really?

  • Kelly Gurbcock says:

    LSU fans….smh….trash.

    • SoonerMagic76 says:

Agreed. That video was super clear, didn’t leave any room for doubt as to what was said.

    • JJSoona says:

Yup, right there with Tech and the couch burners in WV.

      • Mark_in_VA says:

I’ve been to both OU games in Morgantown since WV joined the conference (about a 4-hour drive). Both times, I was treated with nothing but welcoming and respect. I had many people even ask if everyone was treating us right, and many fans–even students–congratulate us on OU’s wins after the games. So I don’t know what your experience with Mountaineers has been, but it’s nothing like mine has been. They have been a welcome and strong add to the conference IMO, and gameday in Morgantown is a great atmosphere.

        • Jim Casy says:

I think our rivalry has just never taken hold. There are some very bad reports over the years.

          • Mark_in_VA says:

My impression is, there is a lot of respect for OU from UWV. They seem to be very glad to have joined the conference and they really like OU. At least that’s what I heard dozens of times in my two game-day experiences 🙂 And anecdotally, it seems like they were the one XII member whose fans I saw on the Sooner boards I frequent throwing support for OU in the football playoff.

So, who knows? Maybe they save their vitriol for Pitt and their fans, and maybe they behave very differently depending on the opponent. But based on my observations of Tech and, especially, LSU fan behavior, they aren’t even in the same league.

        • JJSoona says:

I’m glad you were. My sis and her hubby were there twice and both times had beer dumped on them before the game and once after a game OU won. Every school has their clowns but the only gear they had on was a hat and neither of them are rowdy types. The disturbing part was not one person stepped up to defend them. Not cool.

          • Mark_in_VA says:

That truly sucks. I was really concerned before the first game having seen the WV fans’ reputation. This was especially true because I was taking my kids (8 and 10 at the time) and if that had been my experience I would not have gone back. I was genuinely surprised, especially that even students were talkative, respectful, and gracious.

It’s hard to understand such different experiences, but I know it happens.

      • cush creekmont says:

I’d rather spend a month in Morgantown than an hour in B-R (at least on campus). The ONLY time their fans behave is when they are passed-out drunk in their own barf.

    • Ryan says:

Well, I think they did throw trash at our players too. They were trying to live up to the label.

    • Brad Warren says:

Trash is an understatement. Imagine how that made Buddy’s mom feel. Weak.

      • Kelly Gurbcock says:

Buddy’s mom is a tough as nails gal though. I have a feeling she can stand her own in that crowd and knock a few heads.

        • Brad Warren says:

I meant imagine how mad that made her – that’s just garbage. Buddy is the most likeable guy ever.

          • DrewChubbs says:

I’m sure it touched a nerve when it happened. After Buddy threw 32 on ’em though, I bet she was as happy as a momma could be!

          • Brad Warren says:

How cool was it after he hit the 3 late that finally put us ahead – and she was strutting down the stairs dancing and cheering? I’m going tonight. Boomer!

          • DrewChubbs says:

Sooner! Yes, her Big Bad Mama strut was awesome!

      • Drew says:

I mean, I’m sure she didn’t like it, but she raised several kids by herself in the Bahamas. Dumb college kids have nothing on that.

    • SamSooner says:

      ???

  • David Morris says:

Did anyone read the article on Boren and Texas? I really just want this crap to be over with, but I am sure it will be huge topic of conversation over the next few weeks.

    • SamSooner says:

I did. OU should just pack its bags and leave. Boren knows the the Pac12, B1G, and the SEC won’t take texsa without them giving up the LHN. Boren knows that he wants the Big XII Network which would mean texsa has to give up the LHN. If texsa balks during the conference meetings, I’d take my talents to another conference. Become an Independent if you have to.

      • John Garner says:

        Agree. Tuck Fexas!

      • Golfluvr13 says:

I completely agree with you Sam!

      • Jim Casy says:

Even the delusional UT fans I’ve kept up with have given up on the idea they can be an independent.
I honestly think they’d get buried if we went SEC and they had to go far away like the PAC or ACC. Big negative on their recruiting + nobody taking that LHN.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

There are a LOT of reasons for OU and Boren to try to make the Big 12 work first. OU is much better off in a Big 12 conference that is working, than any other major conference. I honestly believe that. We’re getting closer to that breaking point, but I think Boren is doing everything he can to fix the Big 12. He doesn’t have to be in a hurry to leave, b/c OU likely isn’t leaving anytime soon, even if we make the decision to leave.

I want the Big 12 to work. And I think it can if we can get the other teams to agree to expansion, adding the CCG, and eventually getting a conference network. Doesn’t seem like much to ask for.

        • Jim Casy says:

There are not 2 single teams that we could get that I can think of that would increase our value.

          • Golfluvr13 says:

And the info I was reading was Cinci and Uconn are the leaders. Really? How does that help the B12?

      • David Morris says:

I was on the fence about it Sam, but I would have to agree now. We have to do what is right for us.

      • TSFFKAG says:

Can’t the conference members together kick out or sanction UT? All football aside, UT is an embarrassment to the conference.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

This is but one of many clear symptoms of Global Warmin’, otherwise known as Climate Change, Weather Weirdin’, or The End of the World as We Know It. The animals clearly sense an impendin’ doom, and we should show them that weh hear their cries and that weh care. You can do just that by donatin’ lots and lots of money to me for Climate un-Changin’ research. Call now.”

      You forgot the crying Indian.

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Let me speak for all crying Indians of the world and say that they are more appropriately called “tearful Aboriginals”. Your micro-aggressions oppress their voices which I have subsumed under my own righteous self-appointment.

        • metzker says:

Wow,you sir are on a roll!

          • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

LOL! Yeah, but I’m done now. There will be more time for silly nonsense after Signing Day. Lots and lots of time.

R/R – Okay, we will need to start work on the script for the Braniac Players. Performances around the country with rehearsal at Bob Edwards’ porch (Bob willing, of course. And he will be free to lock the door to said porch and keep a chary eye and a loaded pistol).

Josh Jacobs to Bama is pretty much a done deal right? I do think it would be cool to see an Oklahoma Preps kid tearing up the SEC if we do not get him.

    • Kelly Gurbcock says:

no, no this would not be kewl. he’d be in the sec. lets see an OK preps kid tearing up the sec in bowl games for OUr Sooners. that would be kewl.

      • Ryan says:

Lol I would like to see that as well but we will never have problems having great RB’s so we will be fine regardless.

    • Jordan Esco says:

It’s very likely either Bama or Mizzou, yes

Want to know another reason why Texsa sucks?

Combined OU players make 250,671,786 more on their combined nfl contracts vs Texsa.

    Why go to Texsa?… smh

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

  • JJSoona says:

My personal choice would be see the Big 12 expand and do whatever they have to do to get Arkansas and Louisville. Add Houston if Texsa wants to leave. I am so sick of what Dodd’s started years ago and that mentality persists to this day.

    • TSFFKAG says:

Arkansas would be fantastic. I’m not so happy ’bout Louisville. I would rather add New Mexico, and trust me, when I say when high tide rolls in, ALL ships in the harbor go up. UT must leave and become independent, they already want to act that way.

    • DrewChubbs says:

Does anyone know what the chances are of Arkansas voluntarily leaving the sec? Not that I’m an insider (far from it), but I have heard nothing but outright rejection, by them, of the notion every time that bringing them in the Big 12 has been brought up. That’s from the inception of the Big 12, through our recent realignment challenges.

      • PlayLikeaChampion says:

        Arkansas adds very little.

        • DrewChubbs says:

I’m completely indifferent about Arkansas. I’m just, “Meh…” about them. My question was a response to folks that think for some reason Arkansas will just bail on the sec. Since the formation of the Big 12, a lot of folks have thrown the pigs into the discussion. I have never seen of, nor heard of, any interest from the school or their fans of leaving the sec. We had a better chance of adding FSU and Clemson a few years ago than we ever have of adding Arkansas, in my opinion.

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

Arkansas will never join the BIG XII. Ever.

          • DrewChubbs says:

I agree. I was just pointing out the lack of interest on Arkansas’s side to someone who said, “Let’s get Arky in expansion.” Every time a Big 12 expansion conversation is made, someone, almost obligatorily, suggests grabbing Arkansas. My point is that I’ve never heard from official or unofficial channels (institution or fans) that there is any interest at all in the pigs leaving the sec.

I’m not advocating picking up Arkansas at all. I’ve never even thought it was a possibility, and therefore never considered the notion.

    • PlayLikeaChampion says:

Texas leaves? The Big12 dissolves. OU can’t be the only flagship in a conference. Bama couldn’t even flagship a conference alone.

    • OUBmrSnr72 says:

Texas would have to give up the LHN to leave the Big 12. They either stay in the Big12 or become an independent.

Why would Arkansas leave the best conference in CFB to join this mess? Louisville has a huge buyout and it’s a bad fit for them geographically. Adding Houston would do nothing but help Houston and make Texas that much harder to recruit.

Dodds isn’t the only one to blame in this…..OU was very happy to keep the Big 12 together to get their own deal with Fox. Looked kinda smart until the SEC signed their monster deal.
