Just kind of have a feeling this one is going to be tougher than it probably should be. Of course every other time I’ve doubted this OU team they’ve made me feel stupid.

So here’s to looking forward to a familiar feeling.

Time to go to work.

BOOMER!

    Let’s get er done!! BOOMER!!

  • Spitting Bull says:

Time to take care of business. I think the fact that they haven’t beaten them on the road in 4 years helps them. They definitely shouldn’t over look them.

  • j l says:

Need to be crisp today, minimal turnovers. Road games in kansas have not been kind to this group.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Have to play good defense, win the rebound battle, one and done for them on the offensive end

  • Sooner Ray says:

Away from home so an occasional score update will be appreciated. 🙂

  • Stephen Woods says:

    Good start

  • j l says:

just gotta maintain this pace, should win 120-0 =)

  • j l says:

Already forced 5 turnovers, me likey.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

    Buddy is cold hearted!!

  • JJSoona says:

Perimeter defense slow to get out on shooters.

  • cheezyq says:

One of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the country? I’ve got the remedy….play OU.

  • JrsySooner says:

Back in Turkey games on afn…aaaaass

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

I have a feeling these guys are going to hang around till the end, hope I’m wrong

  • JrsySooner says:

Refs are the key…right now a tad suspect but it’s close

  • Ed Cotter says:

KSU will not be able to keep up this hot shooting….I hope.

  • cheezyq says:

Was talking to a KSU fan this week about the LSU game, and mentioned the classless fans chanting FU Buddy and throwing things on the court. His response was, that’s the great thing about college basketball. Should give you an indication of what KSU fans are like.

  • JrsySooner says:

I just don’t like when a team can play the lazy and still be even with Oklahoma

  • Soonercntry says:

I sure hope we wear down this KState team and win by 15. Keep the ball moving and make them burn.

  • cheezyq says:

Lol, KSU player showboating up the sideline and turns it over. Nice work

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Don’t like are inside game so far

  • JrsySooner says:

Funny as heck. The ESPN gig

  • JrsySooner says:

Some people don’t understand sports you are playing an away game its emotion you have a target on your back be realistic ….. you’re playing the number one team in America of course they are going to give their best….

  • JrsySooner says:

What a shame there are more people there at that game then there are in Norman Oklahoma what is wrong with the Oklahoma fan base

  • cheezyq says:

I feel like Lon takes things easy against his Alma mater. We NEVER play well against KSU since he’s been our coach. Frustrating.

  • JrsySooner says:

The KSU coach is consistently out of the coach’s box running up and down the sideline why do they not call that

  • Ed Cotter says:

38-32 KSU leads at the hallf.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

We aren’t playing with enough energy. We need Lattin to be the shot blocker. Buddy has to get more involved. He constantly has games when he’s on fire and then nothing for 10 min.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Lattin and Woodard need to get more involved this next half!!

  • JrsySooner says:

The key is Spangler…he had such a dominant outside game…plus you have the home field bs luck…but these games mentor players…

  • Dustin says:

    OU wins by double digits.

  • Dustin says:

    Here we go…..

  • Dustin says:

    This place is dead.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Good grief get s body on someone!

  • cheezyq says:

Is Lattin in foul trouble? Seems like he’s been on the bench a lot today.

  • cheezyq says:

It’s like playing ISU where every prayer thrown toward the basket gets answered. Damn

  • cheezyq says:

    Yikes. Almost airballed the FT

  • cheezyq says:

Wow, wade was OTB on Spangler

  • cheezyq says:

Relying on Buddy too much today.

  • JrsySooner says:

Hey Dustin how’s that double digit lead going….

  • JrsySooner says:

Yep its over…refs in their pocket…going to take a miracle finish

  • Mizuno44 says:

Cousins needs to run point, penetrate, and look to kick out for threes

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

If your not making wide open shots it’s pretty hard to beat anybody!

  • Dustin says:

    KSU 3-pt %
    Season: 28.6%
    Tonight: 50%
    Unreal.

  • JrsySooner says:

    Ksu..in bonus plus 10 to go yep that’s fair….

  • Mizuno44 says:

K State will pucker up here late, we can turn their clanks into transition buckets

  • JrsySooner says:

Just stop..settle down and get the ball inside…put in ying..yang…or whatever his name is with Spangler
and beat them at the foul line

  • j l says:

just need to be close in the final minutes, this team can close.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Why is Woodard dropping in the paint on D

  • Andy Fox says:

Take their damn whistles, for the love of red beans and rice!

  • Mizuno44 says:

Why aren’t we setting Beal and Spangler at high posts to help offset their perimeter pressure?

  • cheezyq says:

Ah yes, the classy BS chant on a legit foul.

  • JrsySooner says:

Why why. Why don’t we just go to rim…

  • cheezyq says:

Blueprint for beating OU, throw up prayers and have them answered. If not answered just go over the back to tip the ball in.

  • JJSoona says:

I don’t understand why we aren’t getting the ball inside. And why are we still in a zone?

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

The bs foul calls on Lattin opened our defense wide up. We can’t stop nothing.

  • JrsySooner says:

Well…you can’t beat emotion…they win…then get buttttfkd the rest of the year
I would be rather be around for the entire year instead of just one game

  • Soonercntry says:

    What an ugly game

  • JJSoona says:

    Stops……….

  • Zack says:

Well this is a game where if ou can somehow win, it would solidify the idea that this team is a final 4 type team. Right now they’re one of the best teams but playing in Manhattan is a demon this team needs to prove they have beaten. They shouldn’t have any true road games in the tourney so going cold from 3 like they have tonight shouldn’t be as big of a deal. Ksu is shooting like 50% from 3.

    • Dustin says:

Worst shooting team in the league shoots lights out tonight and we can’t hit water if we fell out of a boat. Not much you can do about that.

      • Zack says:

Exactly and without a true road game in the tourney, I can’t see this being an outcome in March. But this one hurts, needed to prove they could win there. Plus games at Texas and at West Virginia are likely to be tougher.

  • Dustin says:

It’s even a foul when they hand us the ball. Awesome.

  • cheezyq says:

I don’t blame Cousins. The refs have been garbage tonight. But it’s the Big 12…got a expect horrible officiatng

  • Ed Cotter says:

DAng, this Wade kid has just shot it great tonight. The tech is the nail in the coffin. Dang it! Gotta keep your composure.

  • j l says:

Embarrassing loss. There goes our big 12 lead. Cant believe we cant beat a mediocre KSU team.

    • cheezyq says:

Hard to beat an 8 man team.

      • j l says:

Cant blame the refs for shooting 25% from 3.

        • Lane Gilstrap says:

No but you can blame them for not calling fouls on them and calling bogus ones on us. At least two of those on Lattin were crap and that one on Cousins was crap.

          • SCKSChief says:

Dude. They called one on K-State where the dude wasn’t within six inches of Cousins. They were awful, but both ways.

    • OohRah Mama says:

But we did beat them on 1/9. We also beat ISU previously on 1/2 before losing to them on 1/18. We lost to Kansas on 1/4, but we’ll likely beat them when we play again on 2/13. This team’s won 19 and lost only 3. Personally, even though that loss hurt last night (and so did OKC’s loss to GS, damn those Warriors) I’m enjoying the hell outta this team and this season. It’s awesome!

      • j l says:

0-4 in manhattan though the last 4 years. Got to find a way to beat a not very good KSU team in their house.

  • Dustin says:

Have your fun tonight, KSU. Just cheer us on in April. From your couches. Piss on ya.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Tough loss, but this team will be fine. Still lots of big games left to be played and a BIG 12 Championship and high seed is still in play. #1 ranking doesn’t mean anything until the end of the season when you are the last team standing, cutting down the nets.

  • Dick Bump says:

    Crappy refs!

  • cheezyq says:

Kruger is 4-6 against KSU. Why?

    • Dustin says:

Because it’s his alma mater. He tells his players to intentionally miss shots and not play any defense.

      • cheezyq says:

Whatever man, I’m just pointing out a weird fact.

        • Dustin says:

I saw someone throw out this theory towards the bottom of the thread. Just making fun.

          • cheezyq says:

All I said was that it feels that way because we always play bad against KSU under Kruger. I didn’t say that was the case, just said it’s an odd coincidence. It doesn’t make sense when we play pretty well against everyone else.

      • Ed Cotter says:

You need to put an s/ after your post so people know you are being sarcastic, or they might think you actually believe that. LOL

  • JDSooner says:

    My god…what a horrible loss.

Tough to beat a team when they play 8 on 5…

    • Ed Cotter says:

Or they shoot 47% from 3 range and you only shot 25%. But 17 OU freethrows to 30 FT for KSU makes you wonder about some of the officiating, so I don’t disagree.

      • Dustin says:

I know it’s not his style, but I would love to see Lon get a technical foul one of these days. You know it’s gonna be bad in Morgantown.

        • Lane Gilstrap says:

I would have liked to see Lon come unglued after that cousins steal/foul/tech. That was a clean streal.

      • JJSoona says:

Yes and probably six of those fouls we got in the final 4 minutes pushing it inside. Not one our bigs better games either.

        • Ed Cotter says:

Spangler had a double-double, but wasn’t an outstanding effort there. Also, Lattin’s foul trouble was an issue. His worst game in quite awhile. And Woodard with 0 points. WTF? I sure hope he isn’t having a Cousins type slump.

    • SCKSChief says:

I was there. Don’t blame the refs. They were PUTRID both ways. Oklahoma did NOTHING to help themselves out either. They truly deserved that loss.

  • Ed Cotter says:

KSU bench outscored OU’s bench 32-10. Heck two of their guys outscored our bench by themselves, led by that Wade kids 17. They shot well, OU didn’t, but sure would like to see OU take it to the rim more. I am sure others will agree with this.

    • SCKSChief says:

Wade is usually a starter and OU didn’t play a lick of D on him, or on anyone for the most part.

  • Ruddoj says:

thought the refs were very poor on calling fouls on both ends….OU played bad and KSU played well, but the refs were on a page all their own.

    • cheezyq says:

Just another day in the Big 12…

    • Mark_in_VA says:

It sure seemed like KSU was very physical with very little penalty, but if we looked mean at a guy they called it. Hard to guard driving in the paint when *anything* you do is whistled. Better a 2 alone than a “and 1”.

  • soonerborn says:

This is by far the best OU team in a very long time. Unfortunately, they are very inconsistent. They will go far in the big dance, but they will not win it all. Still a year or two away.

    • SoonerSpock says:

With Hield, Cousins and Spangler graduating we will be more than two years away from winning it all.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

      WAT?

    • MrBigsby says:

This is the best chance they have. If it doesn’t happen this year, it ain’t gonna happen. Won’t be able to recover with the loss of Buddy, Cousins, and Spangler. It’s the lack of a bench that will keep us from winning it this year.

  • JDSooner says:

My wife played college ball in Indiana…she commented about how lazy these guys are on defense under/around the basket. She said they are fairly aggressive on the perimeter, but just get their butts handed to them when it comes to fighting for rebounds. What kills them on poor shooting nights is the “one and done” aspect on the offensive end…

  • Zack says:

And unc just bailed ou out and we will probably be number 1 again.

  • cush creekmont says:

Really disappointing loss. Live by the 3 die by it. Still, KSU? KSU and TCU were to be the road “gimmes.” Now, HAVE to make a WVU road win and hold home court to get a regular season crown. Golf analogy – we just missed a two-foot putt. Now we have to make a 15-footer at texsa and a 40-footer at WVU.

But I LOVE my Sooners and this team!

    • Hotrod33 says:

      Cush,
Even though I want them to win, I’m glad they lost now and played poorly. Why I say that is I want them to get these kinds of games out of their system now instead of tourney time. They shot poorly the whole night and didn’t play good defense. I think they let the refs get into their head a little bit and they just never seemed to recover. I want them to be sharp come March and play the way they need to. I love my Sooners and I know they will bounce back and get things on the right track.

      • Mark_in_VA says:

It’s hard to keep the refs out of your head when any strong defensive effort is rewarded with a whistle, especially when the opponent is playing tighter than a glove with barely a call. That snowballs psychologically.

We would still have won with a decent shooting night, so it’s not entirely the refs’ faults, but there was an awful lot of 5 on 8 going on out there.

        • Hotrod33 says:

Mark I’m not blaming the refs on this. We just shot bad and it caught up to us. I’m fine with that as long as they get it out of their system now instead of tourney time. We will see how LK gets them ready for uterus on Monday. This is a tough matchup.

  • SCKSChief says:

Just got home from that game. This is one disappointed and disillusioned Sooner fan. I’ve always felt the team left something to be desired when watching on TV, but live? Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Spangler was the least impressive player I’ve seen in quite some time. Guy just stood around and sweated for the most part; never played help-side D, didn’t rebound, couldn’t/wouldn’t put a body on anyone even on FTs. The offense is poorly constructed as it relies far too heavily on 3 point shooting and dribbling. There is NO off-ball movement offensively and they are lazy on their defensive rotations. Kruger has his work cut out for him to get these guys into championship form if he wants to win the B12 and make any kind of noise in March. I cannot believe what I just watched, you guys. That was awful, awful basketball.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

If you think this team leaves something to be desired, I don’t see how you have survived watching OU basketball over its history. This doesn’t happen very often AT ALL. And here we stand still complaining. I can understand the “we are OU” argument for football and football recruiting but Geez, this is basketball. They’ve nearly double the TOTAL number of weeks ranked number 1 in the HISTORY of the program.

If u are mad about it, I suggest u don’t watch any games after all these kids graduate.

      • SCKSChief says:

Thanks for telling me how to be a fan, first of all. Second, I listed very specific points relating to the game of basketball that I found problematic. I don’t feel that I was ridiculous in my statements. Those things all happened mere feet in front of me. It isn’t a “we are OU” argument, it’s a “do things the right way” argument. It doesn’t take a national champion to show effort and hustle. I was disappointed with the seeming lack of care. They looked like they expected K-State to roll over.

    • OohRah Mama says:

Back away from the ledge. It’s one game. Enjoy this season, dear.

      • SCKSChief says:

I’m not on a ledge. Just can’t believe what I witnessed. Lots of standing and dribbling. No help-side D and a severe lack of rebounding. Not a great recipe for success.

  • Spitting Bull says:

Give K-State credit, they did a great job of guarding the perimeter. We didn’t take it inside enough. This is the recipe to beat us unless we change things.

    • soonerinks says:

KSU played a great game. When our guards are knocking down shots we can beat anybody in the country. When they aren’t knocking down the outside shots our post offense is just not good enough to go inside. The post is very good at getting put back attempts but struggle with setting up a true inside game. Not knocking them, I love this team, but that is our achiles heel.

  • JrsySooner says:

Hey whiners….did you say the same when we pushed ku…won two tourneys and beat Villanova
you show your lack of athletic intelligence with your cry bs ever had a bad day at the office??

    Good Grief..

    • Jpsooner23 says:

Yes, but this is OU! Wait….it’s basketball, we never do this. Apparently most have just started watching and think we are a perennial power.

For Gods sake, just enjoy this while we have it cause next yr will not even approach this yr.

    • SCKSChief says:

First, legitimate concerns over the way they played are not “whining” or “crying”. Second, “lack of athletic intelligence”? Please explain. When fans can cite exactly why they are upset and then base that on basketball concepts, it isn’t a lack of intelligence. It may not be what you want to hear, but it isn’t “lack of athletic intelligence.”

  • Soonerboyz says:

This years tournaments are going to be awesome..lots of parity.
Kinda like football is getting to be with the exception of the ‘ elite’ programs that recruit the ‘blue chips’. 🙂
