Open Post | Wednesday, Jun. 29th (UPDATE 6:08 pm)

Patrick Hudson: In case you missed it, former Baylor signee, Patrick Hudson, has signed with Texas. This was expected. The Sooners did all they could but Texas came in a very close second in Hudson’s original recruitment. He had visited Texas on multiple occasions and his mother had a chance to visit Texas. – (TFB)

Xavier Newman: Oklahoma has offered 2017 OL and Texas commit, Xavier Newman (Desoto, TX). While Newman has been committed to Texas since April, he has long hoped for an offer from OU. In fact he considered making the trip up to Norman multiple times (he did visit OU once just before his sophomore year for a camp).

I asked Newman if he plans on making it up to Norman for the recruiting event at the end of July and he said he wasn’t sure yet. Either way, I do expect to see Newman make the trip up to Norman at some point. I think the Sooners will be a threat here. – (Super K)

Kobe Boyce: Another Texas commit to keep an eye on is 2017 CB, Kobe Boyce. I spoke with Boyce this past weekend and he confirmed that he still plans on taking a trip up to Oklahoma sometime this summer. At this point he doesn’t have a date set yet but I would imagine he will also be looking at the last weekend of July for the Oklahoma recruiting event. – (Super K)

Comments: We did note some of the concerns that were brought up in the comments section yesterday regarding the organization of the comments and being able to get your questions answered. We want to let you all know that it is something we will discuss and hope to offer some solutions for everyone to consider. – (TFB)

    Thanks guys.

Is Boyce the one that K is really high on? Or is that someone else?

  • MikeyBoom says:

K, with Newman being offered does that mean OU doesn’t feel good about its chances with Humphrey?

    • Scott says:

Don’t forget OU made the top 8 for the number 1 center in the country. If creed commits elsewhere OU already has his replacement with a couple of guys.

  • j l says:

Thanks for all your hard work guys.

  • StL Sooner says:

    Thanks as always, TFB!

  • SWoods says:

    Thank you guys!

Super K – With all the bail or adds this week, do you thinks some of the “early commits” for UT maybe at risk?

    • SoonerOracle737 says:

I took the comments to say that. It ain’t over ’till the ink dries.

  • Doobie74OU says:

Thanks for the info! Still glad to see the aggressive approach to recruiting. Also is OU still considering the Parish Cobb situation?

  • Slim Sooner says:

Appreciate TFB and Super K for getting an OP up today, even if it’s mostly about texsa recruits! LOL. Thanks for putting the info out to us, no kidding. SOONER or later you guys will have something good to report, practice notes, maybe a BOOM for OUr guys. Off season is torturous.

  • RayBob says:

K, I don’t get the continued recruitment of Boyce. If Parish Cobb casts his lot with OU there will be some rumblings from one or two of the 2017 CB commits. But if they charge after Boyce as well and end up with both, I have no doubt we will lose Tre Brown and/or Trajan Bandy, both of whom I think are better than Boyce athletically and are already great locker room guys for the 2017 class as well.

Its not like he is a 5-star guy. What’s the thinking here?

    • Tipman says:

We play mostly with 5 DBs sometimes 6

    • Super K says:

There is some concern that down the road Miami could be a threat for Bandy. The family continues to say they remain committed to OU but the staff has to make sure all bases are covered. Additionally, Boyce has been interested in OU for a while.

    • ouwooferman says:

sorry Jordan, they all are starting to run together in my mind. Was he suppose to visit OU today and was also going to announce same 4 days ago? or is that my old brain letting me down.

      • Jordan Esco says:

No visits b/c of the dead period. I mean he could technically still visit, but wouldn’t be allowed to meet w/ the coaches.

I think this timeline is in sync w/ what K had been hearing, fwiw.

  • CrimsonNative says:

Recruitment of the big boys seems to be a little slow going.

    • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Very slow and I’m very concerned.Hopefully we get some good news soon!

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

You can’t possibly be concerned? It’s not even July lol. Most of the big boys we’re targeting are highly ranked and most of those guys take their sweet time getting courted by any team and every team. I fully expected things to drop of significantly during the off season. The kids want to see us go off next year to make their decision easier.

      • cirwin12 says:

I can understand the concern, but if I remember right, someone in the know, maybe Jordan or K, mentioned that we’re only looking to take 2 or 3 O linemen in this class. And with Tyrese Robinson already committed, and wanting Creed very badly…

        • Lane Gilstrap says:

I’d be more concerned with the Dline than the O. We have had excellent recruiting classes for O line but 0 DT last year. Amani Bledsoe was a big get last year but we need a few more DT with Charles Walker and a few others possibly leaving after this season.

          • Matt says:

Bledsoe plays the 4i which is the position that requires the better, longer athlete. Wilson and Rogers are both being recruited at 4i, if that says anything about how important that position is.

        • Jpsooner23 says:

D Line big boys is prolly more of the concern here.
Watts looks good for us. Rogers seems like someone we should be able to close on. Big Marv, I dunno.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

With K’Lavon naming us his top choice I think that goes a long way for us with big Marv. The dudes are homies, it’s that simple. We need LSU to have a poor year then have CeeDee come back home and I think it’s a wrap for them Houston kids.

        • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

          DT is my concern…

          • cirwin12 says:

LOL. Sorry, I just automatically translated big boys to offensive linemen… I’m right there with ya!

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      Where are the DT’s?

      • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

I read about more Bigfoot sightings nowadays than DT sightings 🙂

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      Where are the DT’s?

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I was watching video of Mark Jackson (again) and he looks like a 240lb Striker.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I expect him to easily solidify himself right behind OBO at that Jack position. Kid is a beast.

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Seeing as the announcement is coming from Pop’s. Well I will just wait and see. Whatever happens just please, please, please do not mess with the bond that #ss17 has going right now. And as always Thanks TFB for all the hard work and information.

    • Wick says:

Looks like the father may have decided to take control of his son’s recruitment.

  • Mizuno45 says:

Tough to miss on guys like Hudson, but, the stat I saw yesterday illustrating the ratio of OLineman we put in the NFL vs. Texsa was staggering. So, we do darn good with talent and coach them up way better than Strong and his goons.

    • CrimsonNative says:

I’m just glad Joe Wickline is no longer there. He would have made life very difficult for us in the trenches.

    • BleedCrimson says:

On the other hand, Strong hasn’t been there long enough to put anybody in the NFL that he has recruited. Hopefully, he will not get things corrected this year and we have another regime change.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

But their Oline is set with all guys sophomores or younger… PT isn’t look good for him. I honestly think our coaches have a good feeling about the rest of SS17 and didn’t want to risk ruining a historic class for us.

      • Mizuno45 says:

True on Strong, but he should be selling cars instead of coaching big time college football, his career would last longer.

        • Unofficial Longhorn says:

He and his staff did put a lot of guys in the NFL at Louisville. I’d say he’s not doing too bad for himself. But, ya know, to each his own I suppose.

          • OohRah Mama says:

I think Strong’s got good potential. Whether he’ll be given enough time to reach it in Austin is another thing entirely.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

I can’t argue with that. I have faith that the work we’re reportedly putting in will pay off though.

      • Unofficial Longhorn says:

Why do you want that? I thought OU fans liked it better when we’re strong, because it makes for a better rivalry. Was I wrong in assuming that? Don’t let me find out y’all are afraid of a little competition… ?

        • BleedCrimson says:

Not abOUt the competition. I think Strong is a bit of a scumbag is all. Hope the next coach is a better person and a good coach. Guess we can’t all have Stoops type of character for coaches, but we can hope.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

What did Charlie Strong do to become a scumbag?

          • BleedCrimson says:

Some of his antics with recruits. yOU can look them up, or yOU probably recall them yOUrself if yOU think abOUt it.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

Honestly, I don’t know what you’re talking about. What antics?

          • Jim Casy says:

He was reported to have played the “us” against “them” race card during at least one big visitor weekend of 2016 class.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

That’s surprising to hear. The only reports I heard from kids that referenced negative recruiting was that they liked the fact that he didn’t do it at all. So it’s strange to hear that you’ve been told something different. Was it anyone in particular?

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

And he has a white wife, so I’m not too sure I’d be quick to believe that one. How much traction could he really gain from that argument?

        • Matt says:

Dude get outta here. No one here cares about your Baylor-lite offense. Oklahoma fans would love for your garbage program to get it together so the Sooners would actually take the game seriously again and start blowing you guys out again. But go ahead and reminisce about getting shut out by Iowa State.

          • OohRah Mama says:

Dude, he’s been a polite, engaging poster. He behaves better than a few hit and run semi-regulars here. It hurts nothing to have an opposing viewpoint on the board. It’s not like Shaggy, for pete’s sake. Now, that’s a nasty place for opposing fans to be. We’re much better.

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

Ok, Guy That Takes the Internet Too Seriously, it was meant in jest. Why don’t you bring it down a notch? ???

    • BigJoeBrown says:

I’ll take Bedenboom over Joe Wickline all day…

      • Stephen Dale says:

don’t think Joe Wickline is on the Texas staff now…………

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Tulsa OL coach is new Texas OL Coach. Still comment stands. BB over the Texas OL any day.

          • cush creekmont says:

Yes. Chuck went after the 2nd derivative of Briles O by raiding Tulsa U assistant coaches. Now he takes Briles’ recruits. I guess Chuck is not so confident in his own turn-around work from Louisville – needs to steal from the corruption on the Brazos.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

We will beat down Texas this year.

          • cush creekmont says:

Need to! Been taking them too lightly or something. OU drilled some better Mac teams in the past, but somnambulated through the last few years.

          • CcrBoomer says:

            Very well put CC

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

Charlie Strong didn’t raid Tulsa’s assistant coaches. He hired Sterlin Gilbert. Sterlin brought Mattox with him. The veer and shoot is a very high potent offense, I figured OU fans would know, considering how that Tulsa game went last year. I actually think it took a lot of cajones to part with Wickline and Watson and make a move for the better. Do you think he should have stuck with the offense we had last year? Why would he want that?

          • CcrBoomer says:

Where did Gilbert and Mattox coach last year? How many times did they turn Texas down that week?

          • Unofficial Longhorn says:

They both coached at Tulsa. I’m not really sure anyone can answer that question with any certainty. The reports were all over the place. Either way, my point was that Charlie Strong went after Gilbert. Gilbert wanted to bring Mattox along, and Strong gave him the power to do that. Imo, that was a smart move. I would hardly call hiring Gilbert a raid. And judging by the numbers they put up last year, especially against the arch nemesis, why wouldn’t he want that here? That’s all I’m saying.

Greetings ladies and gents. So I missed out on all the drama from yesterday, and I really didn’t miss out just saying that. I seen a lot of it and purposely stayed away. Freedom of speech and to express one’s self is one thing but, to be an idiot and to not respect others is another thing. We last I checked are all grown adults. Reason I love posting on here and reading daily is the community and the people, but seems we have lost a great many that have choose to not comment anymore cause of some stupid stuff. Let’s keep it to all things OU and when there is a serious situation let’s treat it as such and discuss as adults and respect each other. I am not on a high horse (note I don’t know I could get on one) and not saying I am better than anyone just it was a sad deal to see. I know I have not said much lately as my plate has been full but, miss you all and they daily chatter. But as always and forever I am Sooner born and when I die I am Sooner dead! Stay safe and stay classy and ONE LOVE!! BOOMER!

  • cush creekmont says:

Regarding Xavier Newman and Creed Humphrey – Is there any relationship between this latest offer and the quoted info on Creed?

“I think the Sooners will be a threat here” (XN info from K)

“…we caught up with Humphrey over the weekend who shared that Texas is also in contention.”

  • Puma says:

I am perplexed by the Boyce recruitment as well. Considering we have Bandy, Brown and Broiles covering both outside corner and nickleback positions, it would strike me weird to have another corner choose to enter that situation. Don’t get me wrong, kids shouldn’t be afraid of competition. But why would anyone willingly choose to sign on to a class that is already full (with highly rated recruits) at the number of playable positions. In addition, my understanding is we still have a good standing with Vincent as well and now potential Cobb (’16).

Now its possible we are continuing to recruit lots of people for all positions cause its so early in the cycle and you never know who could decommit. Its all about staying in good standing.

Essentially this all boils down to me not having a clues as to how I would handle the situation, and I’ll just be excited for everyone we sign.

Sigh. Hate to see us lose out on highly ranked in state kids. Im sure the coaches did all they could, but thats still very frustrating.

  • ALar03 says:

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Ok, so he didn’t have that OUDNA! Next man up!!

  • Jpsooner23 says:

Interesting. Haven’t looked at gaggie depth chart. Is PT more available there?

  • Wick says:

The team might be in shambles, with people transferring out right and left but by damn they play in the sec.

  • Doobie74OU says:

Wonder how these recruits will feel if or should I say when Texas & am have poor seasons and the coaches that made them all these promises are gone! Sumlin and Strong could be in for a long season!

  • OceanDescender says:

That’s a blow, but perhaps he wants to blaze his own trail. Can’t blame a player for that desire.

  • Alwaysasooner says:

I would think Sumlin is in the same boat as strong and that he may need 9 or more wins to survive which is gonna b tough. Then creed decommits and signs with the good guys in February that simple

  • Sooner Ray says:

No ink has dried. Many recruits will watch the upcoming season and possibly have a change of heart. Regardless, we will fill a class with talented players who want to be a part of championships and will continue to get better.

  • Puma says:

I am so ready for some good news

  • RBear says:

    Is Humphrey an early enrollee?

  • eastoksooner says:

Oh well, we will win with or without him. Some kids just want to go out of state to go to college. We can’t wring our hands or let the decisions of 17 yr old kids ruin our day. Stinks to lose out on a top rated in state prospect but I’m sure the sun will still rise in the morning. We will get our share of quality recruits.

    • Stephen Dale says:

      SEC ‘brand’ > Little 12’s…..

      • Jdizzle says:

What about the plethora of kids OU has now that picked them over SEC schools? Nimrod!

        • eastoksooner says:

HWSNBN will not care about those recruits. He will just focus on the ones we lose. It must be terrible to view the world through his glasses.

          • Slim Sooner says:

I believe his purpose on this board is to irritate true Sooner fans and to count how many reply to his negative crap. Mostly any more few even bother to respond and some may have him blocked.

          • J.r. Kamm says:

HWSNBN was outed a while back on the Scout board — he is an Aggie and he’s loving every second of this.

          • eastoksooner says:

Yeah I don’t even bother responding to him

      • soonerinks says:

Very little doubt that the SEC brand is better than the B12’s.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Shut up Stephen. You ever think he wants to live and experience new places? I mean for god sakes does everything have to be about the SEC? Good lord. You know what’s worse than a couple of gifs that are a bit sexual? It’s you’re constant negativity. NONE of us can stand it. I’ve bit my tongue for quite some time now but I’ve had enough. Maybe it has to do with the fact his best friend is going to A&M. I mean I know my 3 best friends and I wanted to go to school together and we selected OU ( well I demanded it ). I can’t to see the day when we join the SEC then the constant rhetoric out of your mouth will be ‘ we should have joined the BIG when we had the chance.’ It will never be enough for you will it? Lucky for the rest of the REAL sooner fans, we’ve got 3 other highly rated offensive lineman would are interested in us.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

That’s the kind of response you get from me when I spend 2 hours driving across town in 112 degree heat looking for a damn kiosk to renew my registration for my car. Lol

          • Soonersreno says:

Sooner21 I get your frustration. I live here in Vegas and driving in this heat will do that to a man.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

It’s been brutal the last week and a half. Foursome ahead of my group over the weekend had this dude pass out. Granted he was hammered, but that heat plus alcohol causes massive dehydration and that’s never a good combo.

          • Sooner Ray says:

The block feature and an ice cold drink can turn your day around.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve noticed that. I have also noticed if you block someone on a PC, they are still blocked when you log in on any device.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I’ve got a MacBook at home along with 2 iPads lol. I do however have a PC at the office so I’ll worry about it tomorrow lol.

        • Jpsooner23 says:

Why are u talking to a blocked user? 😉

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Because I usually access this site from my phone and the delete button doesn’t work nor does the block button. ?

        • Stephen Dale says:

          feel better now ?

      • Lol. You’re clueless about his recruitment. One of Creed’s best friends is Adian Wolford. Wolford is also committed to A&M. SEC had nothing to do with it. A&M is an ag school. It fits Creed more. Again, your schtick is tired. Keep swinging and missing, Stephen Dale.

        • Sooner Ray says:

The friendship thing is fact. I have also heard he has two siblings at, or recently through, OU. It’s possible he just wants to pave his own road where education is concerned.

        • ND52 says:

Does A&M being an ag school fit more in-line with what the young man in question wishes to major in or the culture of the school itself?

          Both perhaps @TheDrakeOU:disqus?

        • Stephen Dale says:

you might want to check RIval’s top 300 as well as 247’s top 300 and read where a large percentage of these guys are committing to : SEC schools…..I believe my comment will pass the eye test when comparing one conference to another…Whatever Humphrey’s reasons, the fact remains he is SEC bound- – – -not Little 12 bound, hence my comment above.

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Supposed to be doing homework and was lurking!!! Had a thought, I have a feeling some of these kids might look at it this way. Say you do sign with a team that does not have a very good record, maybe they are thinking because of their talents alone they can change the program around. I mean come on your a highly touted 5-4 star athlete that everyone wants. But the days of one man shows on a team are pretty much over, these power5 teams are getting stacked from one end to the other. It really does take the whole team anymore to get the W!!! And end the end that’s what wins championships, If you get all the w’s how can you not be champions. JMPO, just thought I would lay it out there.

  • Robert Boone says:

Odds are OU and A&M will go in opposite direction in the next five years. Sooner’s future looks bright, as Aggies may have trouble having a winning season this year leading to a possible wholesale coaching change. Oh well, you choose your path.

            @blaster1371:disqus

Yeaaaah but UT never gave Mayfield a second glance whereas OU has been courting this other kid from the beginning.

Had UT offered Baker he’d have jumped at the chance with no questions asked. A theoretical OU offer not being factored in of course.

        • Sooner Ray says:

Haven’t found anything yet about his enroll status but did stumble on to something. Saw it mentioned that Creed is joining a very close friend from Meeker, may have had something to do with his decision.

    • eastoksooner says:

I can’t find anything that says he is an early enrollee so I’m going to assume for now he is not.

      • Sooner Ray says:

That is what I have decided to believe.

        • eastoksooner says:

I wonder if Riley knew this yesterday when he tweeted this:

So excited about #SoonerSquad17 & their mentality! The view from the top is too much for some people-— Lincoln Riley (@LincolnRiley) June 28, 2016

          • Sooner Ray says:

Makes sense, also makes the offer to Xavier worth watching.

          • eastoksooner says:

            Sure does

          • CcrBoomer says:

            Good point east

          • DCinAZ says:

I think Riley and Gundy are both talking about the Baylor defectors who all wound up at Texas in spite of their losing, and probably a little bit of a jab at Creed too at ATM too. I wonder how Creed will feel when Sumlin is fired after this year and he has an entirely new coaching staff. Oh well, he’ll have his friend I guess.

  • Big Higg says:

Step away for a couple hours and come back to bad news…?

  • connie usa says:

Maybe Apollo felt that playing at TAMU was less pressure filled than playing in front of his friends/family?

    • Dick Bump says:

Ah well, whatever..good luck to him. Just remember, you play with fire you’re gonna get burned.

      • Sooner Ray says:

Climb into a swag copter with a smoking engine, you could go down.

      • connie usa says:

I agree. When u r playing a sport at a major college, there will be pressure no matter who you play in front of. Or, maybe he just felt that the SEC would provide him with more exposure?

        • Dick Bump says:

I think he just wanted a change of scenery, since he also mentioned Tejas. Who knows what goes through the minds of kids that age? I don’t think it’s wise to go up the gangplank when all the rats are jumping ship, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • ND52 says:

SMH at all the guys responding to a certain someone on this board. You guys do realize that you’re doing exactly what Mr. Annoying wants……….?

  • Jdizzle says:

Why has not 1 credible recuitnik tried texting/calling Johncarlo Valentin?

    • J.r. Kamm says:

From what I understand he just graduated last Friday and should be in shortly.

  • ND52 says:

We’ll see where OUr boy winds up once Sumlin get’s canned for losing 5 games again this season.

  • Mark_in_VA says:

OK, Creed. That stings. Not as bad as whorn. But it stings.

  • BoomerDave says:

Wouldn’t give up on Humphrey just yet. The Meeker lineman isn’t SEC quality. When Sumlin dumps him down the road, Humphrey might well reconsider.

    • CcrBoomer says:

It’s very doubtful Humphrey will play for Sumlin at aTm. Only thing that saved Sumlin last year was the buyout was to large

  • Jason Vos says:

Not worried. we’ve lost in state linemen in the past but coach B always goes out and finds a replacement. Remember when we lost the 2 highly ranked in state guards a couple of years ago? We got 2 other good ones. Besides I wouldn’t be surprised if he switched his commitment later after another poor season by Sumlin

  • J.r. Kamm says:

Just realized that Erik Swenson is not on the roster. Did he not show?

    • Jdizzle says:

Where are you getting the roster you are looking at? The Sooner sports one has no freshman (incoming) on there. So I guess it is not an anomaly.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

He’s enrolled. Only Valentin and of course Youngquist are not from 16 class.

      • J.r. Kamm says:

Was just looking over the past few year’s OL recruits and found it funny he (and Valentin who just graduated) wasn’t on the roster. Wonder if it’s because he hasn’t been cleared yet? I saw Valentin addressed but don’t recall anything about Swenson. Thanks, JP.

        • Jpsooner23 says:

Not sure, I was just going off 247. They list him as enrolled as of 6/8. I say that assuming that is correct. I would assume TFB would have said something too if there was an issue. Never know though, now you got me wondering 🙂

        • Josh Weaver says:

Swenson is listed in the Student Database.

  • Pardner says:

As long as we’re discussing concerns, could you guys consider putting the updates at the top of the posts instead of the bottom? It’s obviously not a big deal, but it would be easier to check them that way.

  • Jpsooner23 says:

Metz, Leo, and hawk, come back please. You messin with our mojo!

  • J.r. Kamm says:

All in for Filiaga and Ealy. Seem to be the only other OL on the radar.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

Zabie is high on us and we just offered Newman. Flips are always possible. Long time til NSD.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

Also, Last I saw I believe we only planned to take 2 or 3 OL. Since Tyrese counts as 1 1/2, we should be ok. Need that beef on the DL though!

          • SquidGiant says:

            Is this really necessary?

          • Jpsooner23 says:

            It was a joke man.

          • SquidGiant says:

            A very tired one.

          • Jpsooner23 says:

So, u are tired of it and now want to stir another pot? Block me then, I could care less. The whining on here is truly getting tiresome.

          • SquidGiant says:

Wow, reread the comments and ask yourself who’s stirring the pot. Does instigation make you feel more important?

          • Jpsooner23 says:

Ok, if u feel instigated by a completely innocent joke that was even labeled as much I am sorry. I will delete the post to avoid instigation.

This is really becoming laughable. That statement has been made famous by a long time poster on here (la’carpetron dookmarriot). It’s an innocent joke and I’m sorry you are offended by it.

          • SquidGiant says:

I wasn’t offended. I just wonder when posts will stop getting the “offensive?” response. Last night I posted Buddy Hield in a Pelicans jersey, and the response “offensive.” The joke continues today. I wasn’t ever offended by the GIFs, but I do get tired of people trying to run off posters.

          • Jpsooner23 says:

And who am I trying to run off? If u read below u might see the opposite. Like I said that is a quote one of our long time posters used to make all the time (who by the way may fit in your posters who are run off category because it’s been a bit since he’s been on here). Nothing to do with the disaster yesterday. I said nothing about anything u said yesterday. You want to be mad, take it to someone who deserves it. I’m not the problem here.

          • SquidGiant says:

Look, I felt the question was reasonable. “Is this necessary?” I’m not even mad, but as I continue to post relevant information some perpetuate the GIF argument. I’m willing to let it go when you do.

          • Jpsooner23 says:

Look, I felt the statement was reasonable. A tribute to someone who has been on here forever.

U feel ur info is relevant then great, so do I.

Whatever man, this is old. U get last word. Enjoy and Boomer!

          • SquidGiant says:

You are right it’s very old.

        • BleedCrimson says:

A lot of us have had jobs that fed OUr families, then we have had the job that we loved! I will always think of Bob Barry as a Sooner!

          • Cesooner says:

He was a Sooner, no doubt. I prefer to think he just “doing his job” as an aggie.

  • PLAW0720 says:

Smh on Humphrey – coach B is having a hard time landing in state elite OL’s. Oh well, it’s a long time until February. Let’s keep recruiting him and hope for a Creed Boom. Bummer

    • SquidGiant says:

Winning will take care of everything. That’s part of what has made SoonerSquad17 start off great.

    • Mike Reed says:

I would say having a commitment from 5* Brey Walker isn’t exactly what i’d call having a hard time getting in state elite OL’s.

      • SquidGiant says:

I forgot he was at Southmoore. I didn’t think Oklahoma recruits could get that 5 star status. Wait does he have an Alabama offer…

        • Bob Edwards says:

He has a Bama offer, but he got the fifth star after he committed to OU. You would think that would outweigh the Bama offer. Maybe they didn’t realize he had committed.

          • SquidGiant says:

LOL, I was just sure that’s the only way one of the local kids could reach that status.

        • j l says:

Not just a 5 star, but rated .9996 by 247 composite. For reference, thats higher than marvin wilsons rating.

          • SquidGiant says:

            Now about that .ooo4…

          • j l says:

Right lol. He deserves it, kid is a monster

          • SquidGiant says:

I watched his Hudl footage and watching him block was unreal. Just smashing his way down field… as a sophomore.

          • j l says:

if him and thompson have any sort of help, i can see them ending the jenks/union state title stranglehold. Thats a nasty offense.

          • SquidGiant says:

Well he looked like he was blocking as the guard and the tackle. I can imagine their plan is, “Brey, push everyone that way.”

          • j l says:

Gives new meaning to the old “student body” plays. Just 1 dude counts as everyone, lol

      • PLAW0720 says:

2018 is a long way down the road and we are certainly excited about his hard commitment. But, Wariboko, Barnett, and Humphrey would have made for strong OK roots. Granted OU isn’t for everyone and each recruit is unique, but it still irks me when top OK talent doesn’t choose OU.

    • hOUligan says:

As Brandon said, Creed is an ‘ag’ kid and fits one of the ag schools better. Prolly didn’t want to go to state and face OU, a school his family has followed. Also, being an OC recruit, gotta get past Roberson, too. Went where he felt he fit. Meanwhile, Coach Bedenboom bringing in some top talent for ’17 and Walker for ’18 and OU is currently the fav of ’18 OL stud Curtis Dunlap. It’s gonna be good.

  • Maverick says:

Is it possible OU isn’t “country” enough for Creed? Seems like kids want the opportunity to move away from home now days. I get it. Momma won’t be right down the road. Probably can let your hair down a little more.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Well it looks the recruiting hot streak has ended. I hope we can retain a top 5 or at least top 10 class from here on out. Only top 10 classes win Nattys.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Let’s at least celebrate the 4th of July before we start the melt down. 🙂

    • John Garner says:

Good point, but as I recall — and the ability to do so lessens everyday — Stoops and staff didn’t have a top 10 class when we won the NC in 2000. I’m sure that if the coaches were the ones developing such rankings, they’d look a lot different. We forget that coaches recruit the talent that fits their systems, while recruiting services develop rankings to create interest and debate and to separate you from your money each month. I doubt that college coaches heed the advice of the “recruiting experts” at Rivals or 24/7. They are the recruiting experts or they’re not coaching for long. Sorry to be long-winded. Pet peeve of mine.

  • Hotrod33 says:

If I had a friend and he decided to go to gaggieville and he said come on, I would be like you crazy what has that team done to win anything. They are screwed up and are in disarray. You don’t even though if the coach will be back. Meant to go where I know who my coach will be.

    • lefty67 says:

For all the chaos down there, they’ve had an OL land in the first round of the draft 4 years running now. Has to be a bit enticing for a recruit.

OL will be a tough position to recruit for until 2018. All our starting OLs are young just like our rbs. Let’s get those top defensive players.

What are ur thoughts on Zabie? Seems like he was a potential get for us last I remember.

      • KJ1123 says:

I think so too. The thing I like about him is he plays almost strictly out of the two point. Thats what we play out of and I guarantee thats one of the things coach B is high on. Not only that he moves good out of it, good steps, physical etc. It’s hard to teach a kid how to run block out of a two point when his hands been in the dirt all his life. I hope we land him.

    • Jpsooner23 says:

What are ur thoughts on Zabie? Seems like he was a potential get for us last I remember.

It’s a catch 22 for sure. Coaches work their butts off getting young talent then it scares some off who are afraid to work hard and compete.

Well, we just stay after Ealy and all! Good luck to the young man. Sadly, at Aggie, he will need luck because wins will be fewer than at OUr school.

Oh, did I mention 77-0 in THREE quarters?

  • kt-raida says:

I’m not that bummed about Creed. Yeah he’s a high ranked kid but I think hea easily replaced in this class .And no disrespect to him, he’s worked hard to be able to go where he wants.

  • DCinAZ says:

Sounds like the Creed kid just has an aggie mentality, because he’s actually an ag kid, so it’s probably the right fit for him. Oh well…….I guess 8-5 is good enough for some people.
