– Brey Walker: Last night ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton reported that 2018 Westmoore (OK) and Sooners OL commit, Brey Walker, is taking an official to Florida State this weekend.

First, let me say that I spoke to a source very close to Brey and was told that OU fans can relax. When Brey committed, back in 2015, he said he planned on taking some visits. Two in particular were FSU and Miami. Those are the two that Brey and his family plan on taking, at this point.

Second, the Walker’s are one of OU’s best recruiting families, along with the Drapers, Barnes and Broiles. So much so that they took it upon themselves to make the Asamoah’s feel comfortable when they were on campus for the UTEP game. In fact some would say, their connection with Asamoah’s parents actually helped secure Asamoah’s commitment.

So, with all of that said, I know FSU is a big time program, but there really isn’t a lot to this. With that, I’ll lean on the words of my source by saying, “relax Sooners fans.” – (Brandon)

Kalon Gervin: I texted back and forth with 2018 DB, Kalon Gervin (Detroit, MI) who visited Oklahoma over the weekend. Gervin was a guy we thought could perhaps pull the trigger this weekend but obviously that did not happen.

Gervin had a great visits and said via text, “I love how the coaches keep it real. The trip was even better than I expected”.

I did ask Gervin about a commitment timeline and he said, “nothing too soon”. He also added that he has not decided which visits he has yet to take.

I spoke with a source on the OU side and was told that the staff had a detailed conversation with Gervin about who else they are recruiting and in general where they are in terms of their numbers. I was also told that the staff feels they are in a good spot with Gervin but they will continue to recruit a few others guys that they feel good about as well.

The situation with Gervin feels like a young man who was committed before (to Notre Dame) and wants to make certain he does commit and decommit again. – (Super K)

Merlin Robertson: The Sooners also hosted 2018 LB, Merlin Robertson (Gardena, CA)

Robertson said about the trip, “I like how OU was so family oriented. It was amazing. The visit was amazing.” Robertson too, however, isn’t in a hurry to make a decision, “I’m trying to focus on waiting till signing day” and added that he will take additional visits but isn’t sure which ones just yet.

Robertson got to spend some time with former Sooners who also hail from California, like Joe Mixon.

I asked him if the other Sooners who are also from California and their counsel to him will impact his decision to which he said, “Yes sir. A lot”.

Our sources on the OU side tell us that the staff really put on a show for Merlin and his father. The Sooners feel like their biggest competition right now is going to come from Oregon and LSU but the source said, “they set the bar high for the other schools”.

Oklahoma will be stop in to see Robertson on their bye week. – (Super K & Brandon)
