His Sophomore film is amazing. Much more developed physically, mentally and technically than the vast majority of players his age. Extremely aggressive and powerful. Understands how to impact defenders with head and hands simultaneously. Recognizes stunts, blitzes, and twists easily. He’s a very well-coached player and it shows. Every program in the country will be after this kid once they see his film.

His feet may be a touch wide while in his stance, but that’s something you can correct easily. His punch and hands are very good for such a young player. Locates linebackers on the second level with ease. Watching his film you can see him simply demoralize defenders he’s going against. Definitely a tone setter from a physicality standpoint. He may be more of a natural right tackle, to begin with at the next level. Will need to work on his hip flexibility and continue to develop his strength. He has everything you’re looking for in a prospect. Potential to be a high draft pick and award winner. – (JY)

Will be an interior player on the next level. I like him at center more so than I do at guard. Seems like a very heady player who could make line calls and understand the offense relatively easily. Probably the best young prospect I’ve seen at throwing cut blocks in a long time.

Very physical at the point of attack although he hasn’t quite figured out how to use his hands as well as he will need to. In pass pro, he drops his hands around waist level and will need to work on keeping them up around chest level to protect from defenders getting their hands on him during the “reload” phase. Nice feet and athleticism. Another guy who plays tackle for his high school squad who Bedenbaugh will bump down along the interior. Nice aggressiveness for such a young player. He’ll be fun to watch from a developmental standpoint over the next couple of years. Very good player. – (JY)

*On the defensive line front, I’ve been told the Sooners like where they are at but they are not done recruiting Marcus Stripling. It sounds like they are trying to get Stripling up to Norman for the July BBQ.

I spoke with someone close to Stripling recently and was told that Stripling wants to shoot a video (as of now, not with us) which tells me he is nearing a decision. TAMU still seems to be the team to beat but I should know better next week what the Sooners chances are.

Oklahoma is taking things a little slower with some of their other defensive line targets. And, in some cases, they are completely moving on.

*I spoke with 2019 DE Zach Williams (Little Rock, AR) who was being recruited by Oklahoma. But it seems the commitment of Joseph Wete’ ended things on the Williams front as Williams recently told me, “OU told me I was not a priority for them and they weren’t interested…they were very nice about it. They just wanted to be up front”.

So, for the moment, all eyes are focused on Stripling.

*Yesterday, Chris Steele let me know that he did finish shooting his commitment video (not with us). My initial reaction was that sounded good for OU. However, I checked around and am told that he shot multiple endings. So, nothing confirmed.

I did hear from a source on the OU side who reiterated what I said earlier in the week; namely, that Oklahoma remains cautiously optimistic. – (Super K)

– Late last week, Elite 2019 DE Braylen Ingraham listed the Sooners in his top six…

If you recall, the talented defensive end out of St Thomas Aquinas HS in Fort Lauderdale Florida took an official visit to Norman back in April for the massive Spring Game recruiting event. Ingraham is also a teammate of OU CB target, Jaden Davis, who will announce his choice of colleges in July, and former teammate of Sooners’ freshman, Nik Bonitto. So, Ingraham has ties to Oklahoma.

It does not surprise us that OU is in his top group as Coach Mike Stoops has made several stops down to Florida to see him recently.

What is a bit surprising is that initially, Ingraham told Super K that he planned on announcing a commitment in the Fall after a couple additional officials, however, when I asked him about his timeline after he posted his top group he said: “Probably in October, or maybe earlier”.

Why is that surprising, at least in my opinion? Well, it has to do with the other little nugget he dropped. I asked him if he may make the trip up to Norman for the ChampU BBQ and he quickly replied, “Yes sir I plan on going to it!”

This will be one to keep an eye on, particularly if Jaden Davis sides with the Sooners in mid-July. – (Charlie)
