Per Jason Kersey of The Athletic, Sooners freshman linebacker, Jonathan Perkins, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. While we have not yet confirmed the report on our own, there is no reason to doubt Kersey’s report.

If you are a TFB reader, you know that this does not come as much of a surprise; Perkins has not made an appearance this season and he does not appear to be a great fit for Alex Grinch’s Speed D.

Perkins was part of the Sooners 2019 class and an early enrollee. This season will count as a redshirt year for him. Perkins is a great kid and a talented football player and we wish him the best no matter where he lands.

I will add, I would not be surprised to see a couple more transfer requests in the near future and right up through season’s end. I won’t speculate on names, but you guys can pretty much figure out some of the candidates.
