Damien Williams Removed from the Team

Some noteworthy stuff from todays presser with coach Stoops

– Damien Williams has been permanently removed from the team. Feel bad for the young man and we wish him the best but as we saw the other day Oklahoma is more than capable at the RB position.

– OL Tyler Evans will return next year per Coach Bob Stoops. More depth at OL. Boy next year could be special.

– Corey Nelson is appealing is denial of a medical RS to the NCAA. This comes as no surprise because he doesn’t fall within the time limit on playing but the NCAA does have an appeals process that allows them to look at things on a case-by-case basis. So it could still happen and the decision should be known hopefully near the end of the December. Needless to say if he can come back it would be huge!

Feel bad for Damian, don’t know what the situation was but it usually comes down to the choices that an individual makes. Good to hear about Evans and good luck to Corey (the kid is a gamer and one that earned our respect this year).

We may actually have a 1000 yard back this year. It’s sad that it has to come at the misfortune of another. Ill be interested to see if Clay get a nice rhythm going with all the reps in the bedlam game like he did at ksu

He’ll have two games to get it..I would almost guarantee it but anything can happen. Isn’t he about 150 out? 75 a game isn’t that hard to imagine the way the line has been blocking

Don’t know Clay but he sure seems like a solid kid. Does everything you ask him to do, runs for the tough yard, good blocker, good receiver. Man, did he have a great game Saturday. Never seems to be a problem, kind of guy I would want to go to war with and seems like he is an excellent teammate. Sure hoping he gets 1000 (more would be even better) and just wish the best for the kid.

Great to hear about Evans, that was a surprise to me. If Nelson comes back… oh man this defense.

Remember when LBs were running out of here as soon as they could?

    • Super K says:

Exactly! It’s amazing that Corey Nelson was just considering leaving early last year and now he’s fighting to stay. So proud of the coaches. And who wouldn’t want to play in an aggressive top 20 defense that just keeps plugging and playin? Awesome.

What’s up with Kenny Stills and Tony Jefferson bashing Stoops on Twitter? I know they were close to Damien, but rules are rules, and it’s not like this is Williams’ first offense.

I just think calling Stoops a car salesman and eluding to other problems at OU, after “the car salesman” provided an opportunity for these men to make it to the NFL is shameful. The coach has to have a spine, and it’s up to the individual to follow the rules. This isn’t Urban Meyer’s “Circle of Trust” where rule breakers were exempt from punishment.

Makes me respect Stoops all the more, and I really wish these guys would think before they say something that can negatively impact recruiting. Especially when Stoops is in the right.

Take a hard look at this whole situation. For whatever the reason, Coach Stoops released Damien, a proven player, right in the middle of a stretch run. Its not that hard to keep your nose clean and finish your career. The entire team of underclassmen are watching. He called out Coach and Coach responded. Stills is a good receiver but was a head case from the start. Its tough all around but you don’t call out your boss privately or publicly. If you do, be somewhere else. Very avoidable and unfortunate situation.

Btw, this is my first visit here and I like it alot. I’m a huge fan of No BS.
