OU Commit: “There’s going to be more commits”

Last night I was talking to a current OU commit about his visit to Norman this past weekend. When I asked him how the weekend went with other recruits he said,

“There’s going to be more commits. At least, that’s what I was told (this weekend).”

That’s significant because every player on campus this past weekend with an OU offer was high profile recruit. Based on the commit’s comment, some folks inside Oklahoma are pretty confident that they’re going to get a few of those players.

Having said that, I’m going to suggest three guys I think end up signing with the Sooners that aren’t committed at this time.

1. Neville Gallimore – The big defensive tackle came away from Norman in awe of the atmosphere, team and university as a whole. Add Jerry Montgomery being his lead recruiter and you’ve got OU with WAY better than a punchers chance.

2. Anthony McKee – This 2015 hybrid OLB is high on OU. I mean, VERY high on OU.

3. Justin Reid – Stoops loves having versatile DB’s and that’s exactly what Reid is. He was having a great time when I talked to him. Could OU pull him out of SEC country? I think they will.

What’s you guys predictions on last weeks visitors who you think will commit and sign with OU?

All 3. Wheeler. Peat. DeBerry. Barnett. Guarantano. 50/50 on Wariboko. Haughton as of now unless he’s turned off by Reid. Newsome.

    Don’t think we get KSL.

    • Zack says:

I think newsome is gonna be tough I can’t get a good read on him but I think he’s good friends with mbanasor and I think he’s got a solid friendship with Sunderland.

    • TheDrakeOU says:

You are BOLD. That would be a top 5 class if OU landed all of them. Getting Guarantano to start the 2016 campaign strong is huge, as well.

  • Super K says:

I say Haughton, Reid, Gallimore if I’m OU naming three.

    • Boom says:

I say Whitfield, oops sry. Gallimore would be huge get. In the picture, you see his forearms & hands? geez, that has strength written all over it. I’d like to see a big name LB commit to make some others feel a little urgency. I will pick DeBerry or KLS. Can we put the red phone to Bob Stoops in Malik Jefferson’s home?

  • Zack says:

I say KLS McKee and Reid. If I’m naming the 3 I think are most likely. I think gallimore haughton and deberry may be swept away by another team more so than the 3 I named although still a good chance about 50/50.
The sense I get from KLS on twitter is ou is really special I think for him he just needs a little help getting there if he were to commit early.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Man, there could be any number of guys, but we definitely need to see at least one LB, Haughton or Reid, and KLS or Gallimore. Thinking McKee, Gallimore and Reid at this point. And can Barnett just commit already!

  • L'carpetron Dookmarriot says:

    I’ll allow it.

  • Stephen says:

I’m going on a way to bold prediction on this one: KLS at whatever All-American game he attends, Justin Reid, Gallimore, and if some cards fall the right way, 5% chance we see Malik Jefferson (this is really a prayer but I feel like there could still be a chance there).

    • Super K says:

      Malik Jefferson…ABSOLUTE STUD.

    • Jackson1006 says:

Malik is the best I’ve seen in sometime (not that I have seen much). Like Derrick Johnson. Wouldn’t be surprised if Texas is pitching him that way like kids come to us wanting to be AD or Murray. Not sure Kish can pull this one off though. What to do with good coaches who aren’t elite recruiters? If we ever replace him, we better focus on diversity. The lack of diversity in our coaching staff I think is an issue but is never discussed I’m assuming because it is awkward. sorry to digress but kids play for those they identify with. It’s not just race (you could be the white son of a bootlegger-allusion) but identification is a major key when guiding young people who are more intuitive than logical… unless you are so established like Saban.

  • Super Keith says:

I think McKee is all but committed, and Reid is very close. I’m not quite as sold on Gallimore just yet (but it does look good). The guy I think that will surprise is Cassius Peat. At least that’s my hope.

    • Zack says:

I agree on gallimore I think if he were to decide today ou would be it but we will have to see if ohio state can make a big push for his commitment.

      • wolfbuilder says:

Y I think we have a better shot at Neville is cause we want him as a 5 or 4i tec where tOSU want him as a 3 or maybe 1, he want to play more to the outside

        • Super Keith says:

He’s built more like a 3, but that doesn’t mean much at this point. In our system, he could still play a 3 and be very effective.

      • Super Keith says:

Yep, we’re on the same page. I like where we stand with Gallimore, I just don’t feel as comfortable as I do with McKee and Reid. If we can retain his interest after his tOSU official (assuming he still takes one), I think we’re golden.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I would be thrilled with any and all of these recruits but I have sworn off guessing what kids are going to do now days.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

    Gallimore, Mckee, Guarantano…

  • hOUligan says:

Going with Gallimore, Reid, Haughton and I think OU gets DeBerry and KLS, too. It is going to be an awesome defensive class from front to back.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

I don’t know who, exactly, we are going to get, but I feel good about getting 2-4 kids that were on campus for the Tennessee game, maybe even more. Difficult for me to list out who I would prefer, b/c they are all really good potential players, and I’d like to have as many of them as possible.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Apparently from an article on Scoop, Rankin nearly committed over the weekend.. How many Olinemen do you guys think we are taking?

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

I’ve been wondering if OU would want another JC kid. Assuming Barnett signs, we’re pretty full; and if we consider a 7th, seems like we would prefer a HS kid … like Wariboko.

  • Mr. Jones says:

I’ll say OU gets Reid, McKee, DeBerry and either KLS/Gallimore. Add in Buechele/Guarantano, whoever pulls the trigger first.

  • Randy says:

I think Gallimore is big need as well as super talented. It’s possible OU loses Phillips to the draft that leaves Romar, Wade along with Garnett. Need a bigger body like Gallimore with Overton this cycle.
