Boom News! | 2020 JUCO DT Perrion Winfrey Commits to OU

The Sooners picked up the verbal commitment from highly sought after 2020 JUCO defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey out of Iowa Western CC today following his official visit to Norman this weekend.

Winfrey is a massive get for Sooners defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. The big DT is a 3 for 2 player (He will have three years to play two seasons in Norman).

Thibodeaux is well aware of the attrition along the defensive line with the transfers this year the and upcoming departures following this season and was in on Winfrey very early on.

Winfrey is listed at 6’4″ and 300 lbs and holds offers from more than 20 major programs which include: Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Oregon, and Texas. He is regarded as the top JUCO defensive tackle this cycle.

As Super K noted prior to his visit, Winfrey did have the thought of committing on his mind should the visit go well. During the visit, he told me “I love Oklahoma. The players are really cool and I’m really feeling the love from Lincoln Riley”.

Looks like the Sooners knocked the visit out of the park and picked up a very much needed commitment.

With the big defensive lineman’s commitment, the Sooners now hold 11 verbal commitments in the ’20Deep’ class.
