Trey Carter Post Texas Visit Note

We talked to someone close to Trey and just wanted to give y’all a quick update on how things went today with the visit to Texas. As we expected and said in our note last week, a commitment to Texas did NOT happen. Texas seems to really like Trey but Texas did not extend an offer. However, with Texas that might just mean they don’t want to offer until they know they can get a commitment but that’s just speculation.

Trey enjoyed his time on the unofficial but the bottom line is we were told that the visit to Texas did NOT hurt OU’s chances with Trey. Again, he talks to Coach Montgomery often and holds Oklahoma in very high regard. We were told that as of right now he is ready to go on his visit to OU!

That’s good news…when is he visiting again? I guess it’d have to be the Iowa State game if it’s an official/game day visit…duh

Yeah he’s visiting for the Iowa State game. Hard to believe we’ve only got one more home game!

another KEY weekend for recruits. Hopefully the staff will be able to spend the needed time with all the kids coming in. We have to start making that last impression and close some of these kids.

I really like this kid, tall with some bulk, he is listed at 250 but could easily carry 270 but he is quick at 250 shed blockers well and brings hat!!! Maybe the next David king…

Steve, we’re thinking he might get big enough to become the next Jordan Phillips inside. If you get a chance check out his hudl highlights from last year when he was still in Louisiana. He’s very sudden in the middle. He has an acute understanding of playing inside. I think a lot of that can be attributed to his dad playing at the collegiate level as a nose as well. About his frame though, we think he can get all the way north to 300 or more. Still if we do go after a nose who’s a little shorter, he could be a force at that 4i spot we’re manning with Chuka and Tapper. You’d like to get 300 pounders across your front at those three positions. I agree that he has the potential to become a player as good as David King. With the coaching we have now though, he may be even better.

I see why you would say that, maybe a 3 tech but i wouldn’t say a nose, i could see him at 280 at the biggest, but i will most def check out his Louisiana film, thanks for the heads up

        • JY says:

Thanks Steve! Check out that La. film and let me know what you think!

I think he’ll definitely start at that 4i spot. But his frame is so long that I wouldn’t surprised if by the time he’s a RS sophomore he’s grown out of it just like Michael Brockers did a few years back at LSU.

We did a write up about him here: https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/could-trey-carter-be-ous-future-all-american-nose-guard-notes-from-super-k-and-treys-hs-coach
His coach told us he’ll be 300 in no time. Really sudden inside. He’s built like David but I think he’s a much better athlete.
