The Path to Norman
A walk-on player from Texas, Ian McIver has lots of OU ties. Former Sooner Reggie Barnes coached a youth football team that McIver and Barnes’ son, and current OU safety Robert, played on. McIver said that he went to a game with Barnes once and was immediately hooked. For more on his journey, check out this NewsOK article: Walk-on: Ian McIver

McIver played in five games in 2019. He provided a nice backup at center behind Creed Humphrey, with Coach Bedenbaugh specifically mentioning Ian as a player the staff was excited about.

2020 Season
Humphrey returns to man the center position once again in 2020. This year, McIver and Andrew Raym will be the projected backups at the spot, although Raym has been mentioned at other spots as well. With Humphrey returning, Coach Bedenbaugh will likely work McIver as the main backup to allow Raym to redshirt, his four allotted games notwithstanding. Look for Ian to continue building his role for the Sooners in 2020.
