The Path to Norman
DeGrate has always wanted to play college football at OU. He played high school ball at Norman High and Putnam City trying to earn a scholarship; instead, he spent a year in Canada playing football. After that, he decided to join the National Guard so that he can take care of school and serve his country. Shortly after that, he started his first year at OU – he has a Norman unit for the National Guard and walked onto the team. Brooke Pryor of NewsOK.com spotlights his journey here:

2018 Season
Travis will have to work hard this season to see the field. However, the linebacker position may prove to be one that has a need. Travis DeGrate already has the hard work ethic to make it happen, courtesy of National Guard training. Hopefully that hard work puts him in a playing position.
