100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #45 Joseph Weté

The Path to Norman

Joseph Weté was a highly-rated recruit out of Washington, DC. With offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and other top schools, it seemed like his recruitment would drag out closer to signing day. However, the summer saw good news come Oklahoma’s way, as Weté committed to the Sooners and never looked back.

Highlights

 2019 Season

TFB has heard rave reviews of Weté so far, from being a freshman already standing out’ to “a rare work ethic.” It seems likely that Ronnie Perkins and Kenneth Mann will end up at the defensive end spot, with the rush backer being played by Mark Jackson and Jalen Redmond. Both Weté and David Ugwoegbu are getting looks at the rush backer spot as well. Although neither are as big as Jackson and Redmond, both have a high ceiling. Whether it’s this season or further down the line, Weté has all the tools to be a premiere pass rusher in the Big 12.
