FOOTBALL

I know this is old news by now, but just in case anyone missed it and didn’t scroll down the front page before clicking on this.

‘Can Oklahoma avoid another insane shootout at West Virginia?’ (SB Nation)

Good news.

I’ve been asked to link this, so let me know if it’s something you’d like to become a regular thing here. (Watch Guide)

This Tennessee fan probably won’t be up for Father of the Year any time soon. (Deadspin)

Texas Tech fired their defensive coordinator yesterday and this has the potential to get messy. (ESPN)

War Damn Eagle.

RECRUITING

No surprise OU made the Top 5 for Neville Gallimore.

    I win!

  • Cory Reedy says:

Ummm the uniforms that WV is wearing? Wow. Fugly.

    • paganpink says:

Helmets are far uglier then the Golden domers at Notre Dame which is saying something!

    • blaster1371 says:

Nice Mean Girls reference! There will definitely be no uniform confusion Saturday; contrast between teams unis will be incredible.

  • hOUligan says:

Glad to see WVU wearing ‘alternate’ unis, too. Will hopefully offset any bad juju with OUr team.

    • Josh says:

Thought the exact same thing! Anyone that does not believe in the alternate unis bad juju just isn’t thinking straight! I have so many good luck rituals before and during a game people think I’m insane!

      • Jed says:

OU boxer shorts. Must be worn.

      • JJsooner1 says:

Now that’s funny. I have an OU shirt and coffee cup I use for gameday. OU is 38-3 when I use both. Call me superstitious:-)

        • Josh says:

Nothing wrong at all with being superstitious. In 2000 I watched all games in the exact same outfit at my Dads house. Started out at home for the Nebraska game… at 14-0 bad guys I drove to my Dads as quickly as possible and the rest as they say is history!

      • Jon Nakata says:

Funny story… I have a Home jersey with #4 on it… We haven’t won a game since Kenny Stills graduated if I was wearing that Jersey. I don’t wear it anymore. Of course it could be because I bought it at Wal-Mart….

  • paganpink says:

I love the watch guide Jordan! I am OFTEN surprised at how much work I have to do to figure out what channel some of the games are on DISH! And it has a “search” function somewhere. But, you know, I struggle. Such is life.

  • blaster1371 says:

The war eagle clip: I was like that after we beat down Texass and it had nothing to do with having been doped up from surgery. Just kidding by the way…. But gotta lover her fandom!

  • CcrBoomer says:

Jordan watch guide is pretty sweet. I also use the 506 web site because it also list who is calling the game. http://506sports.com/ncaaf.php

  • rmt28265 says:

Is this really catching on in Norman? Kind of sad.

    • Daddy R says:

Really wish Joe would not have posed for this. ah well..

      • steveinok says:

It may be for the best if we just cut ties with Joe and let him be successful somewhere else…

        • paganpink says:

I disagree. He certainly said all of the right things and seemed genuinely contrite. I hope he’s just marveling at that dumb shirt and not agreeing with it! We know he comes from a supportive and good family, so there is every reason to hope he never has a temper problem again.

          • Jon Nakata says:

I would think that the sound decision in this situation would be… Don’t be seen anywhere near that shirt. Even in jest of it. The kid needs to avoid any and all attention for a while.

        • ND52 says:

Just wait till the video from the deli goes viral……………..:-O

          • JJsooner1 says:

I’m dreading that. Just tired of beatin this dog. Unfortunate incident. Should never have happened. Joe’s been punished. Time to move on.

        • JJsooner1 says:

Steve, we can agree to disagree. He’s manned up. Has zero history of this stuff. By all accounts a good guy. I vote we help him through this.

          • ND52 says:

            @JJsooner1:disqus

But he’s not helping himself by posing for pics like this. Jamis Winston obviously doesn’t get it and that makes him a liability to FSU and he should be gone.

Team leaders need to call a meeting and shutt this nonsense down.

          • JJsooner1 says:

I agree with you that he needs to show some humility. Hard to know for sure what the purpose of the pic was, but still bad judgement….aka dumb move.

          • Jon Nakata says:

well, as the law for assault is written, he was “assaulted” first. His level of retaliation was completely unjustified however. The whole situation sums up to “a severe lack of solid decision making skills and/or self control” The pics of him at the pep rally (while not “illegal or whatever” still look bad this soon) and this one above are indicative of someone who is clearly “not getting it”. He needs taught some self control and discretion.

          • steveinok says:

Hope so. Trust me, I want it to work,

      • HoustonChiver says:

        I found it amusing.

      • Jon Nakata says:

Someone from the coaching staff should really reach out to this kid, and teach him that in order for him to get past his mistakes… he really should just avoid cameras for about 8 months. Twitter too… and facebook. Really, Doc Brown needs to just put this kid in the Delorean back to 1985 until next spring… “WE HAVE TO GO BACK”

    • CcrBoomer says:

I would wear one. Kid got a raw deal. Gotta love the holier than thou people on this board tho.

  • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

That Tennessee father story is really sad, especially considering he almost killed his son. Men need to learn that as fathers we’re always role models, whether positive or negative.

Probably took a page from the Walter White handbook.

I’m in on the Watch Guide.

  • Jhwig says:

Watch Guide Note: First, big thanks to Jordan for posting the link to the Weekend Watch Guide. My brother puts it together every week, and it has been mentioned a few times on the Animal. It is a not-for-profit deal. My brother just noticed that there was not a good resource for all good match-ups with times, lines, channels, rankings, etc. Putting together the guide is just his civic duty to Oklahoma football fans.

    • Hollerback says:

Thanks to your brother. Saturdays had become very frustrating trying to find the correct channel. The guide on my DVR is wrong a lot and the newspaper just gave up.

  • steveinok says:

When I saw we were wearing the alts, I predicted a knee jerk defeat. WVU going all blue has brought me back to the winning side. Good guys by 10!

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Going to be quite a color-fest on Saturday night. Green field covered in red, white, yellow, blue…a little like Walt Disney threw up.

  • JJsooner1 says:

Love the watch guide! Someone needs to take that “dad” to the woodshed. Go get em Demontre! WV unis looks like the inside of a used baby diaper. Josh to SMU??? Ummm no. OUr guys will hold WV under 30. TK will have a breakout game.

  • LXXIV says:

The watch guide is very good. I, for one, would appreciate getting it every week. I think you guys do an incredibly good job with this site. Thanks!

  • j l says:

Please give us the watch guide weekly, if its not too much trouble. Normally i just go off the ESPN schedule page, but it’s not always accurate on what channel games are on. It certainly dosent have the channel number listed like this does.

When you record around 10 games a weekend, it take a lot of DVR timer finagling, and that would make my life a lot easier.

  • Jerry Rivera says:

    Yes, to the watch guide!
