FOOTBALL

Quick site note: Bob Stoops is NOT holding a presser today. Just didn’t want you to check in this afternoon and think we weren’t covering it.

Happy to see there was at least one other person who had the testicular fortitude to take Stoops to task. (Transcript)

If only I’d known this was on the interwebs. I could have done something else with my Sunday afternoon yesterday instead of writing.

Oklahoma has had a lone predictable trait this season. If it’s late in the game and perfect execution is required to win, it’s more than likely going to lose. (Transcript)

That’s probably not a good thing, right?

Apparently there is some question as to whether or not Clemson’s starting QB will have surgery on his partially torn ACL prior to the bowl game. (Post and Courier)

And, of course, Clemson will also be without their offensive coordinator, Chad Morris. (Tiger Net)

Did somebody say this smells fishy?

Russian dash cam delivers again.

Looks gritty.

Lets start fresh sooner fans its a new week.

  • ComancheJoe says:

Can we steal Meacham away from TCU for a full OC title?

    • Indy_sooner says:

^^ This. Heck, bring Cumby. Loved how both were down on the sidelines at the end of the TCU game as TCU took a knee 10 yards from the end zone to avoid embarrassing ISU. Unquestionable chemistry those two. How else do you turn a WR into a Davy O’Brien candidate lol ?

      • ComancheJoe says:

I’m normally not a fan of recruiting coaches away from conference rivals but, as you pointed out, they did an amazing job with Boykin. Coordinators that understand opposing defenses and scheme around the talent that they have……………..very cutting edge, right?!

    • Jed says:

      Is Orgeron still available?

  • Sooner Ray says:

Can we please stop the “One True Champion” commercials now? This conference will be a joke until OU and texsa are both back in or near the top 10 on a consistent basis.

  • Indy_sooner says:

Can we please add two teams and stop this 10 team BS? As much as I hate Baylor, it’s hard to argue that the Big 12 wasn’t screwed hard. Both of these guys deserve to be in the playoffs

  • Indy_sooner says:

On other news, any updates on this epic recruiting weekend. Attrition? Additions?

    • Sooner Ray says:

      crickets since Saturday.

      • Jordan Esco says:

K was on the phone all day yesterday and I suspect will still be working kids today. He and I have yet to talk today, but I’ll be surprised if he didn’t have something for you all this afternoon and/or tomorrow.

    • hOUligan says:

Chances were low for a commit before the debacle. Looks like Orr if anyone. Just praying there are no decommits at this point.

  • LLAdamJ7 says:

First time I’ve heard Northern Illinois thrown out as a candidate. They are probably the 7th or 8th team in Chicago though so it doesn’t bring a market. Is it possible to add football only members? That would make a lot of the travel issues less significant.

  • lebval15 says:

lets add Cincy and Memphis and get it done. Sure wish we’d taken Louisville back when we had the chance.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Biggest mistake the Big 12 has made was not picking up UL.

      • Cam says:

No kidding! I live in the Louisville Metro and speaking to a lot of UofL fans and they were very excited about the Big XII rumors. And the amount of advertising for the ACC has been ridiculous this year. There are bilboards and commercials and now I have to watch those awful ACC games. It’s a real shame.

  • lovethemsooners says:

Forget adding two more mediocre programs to the Big 12. We just need to pack up and move on to one of the other three conferences. There isn’t any program out there that would make the Big 12 more respectable.

  • MrBigsby says:

I wouldn’t show my face in public either if I were Bob.

  • SamSooner says:

I say the Big XII should try to get Missouri and aTm back. The whole Texsa superiority complex has been addressed. We have a commissioner who won’t coddle them. Swallow your pride and go after A&M and Missouri. Explore that possibility before you settle.

We already have the Dan Mullins debacle with a Texas recruit. That’s huge in my opinion.

The TFB did an article on how Texas recruits want to show the SEC Texas high school football is second to none. This would be there chance.

    • lovethemsooners says:

I’d say the chances of that happening were less than zero if there were such a thing. I mean if it had been us that had moved on to the SEC, do you think we’d even consider returning to the Big 12? Never gonna happen.

    • Sooner_Ace says:

      < 0% of that possibility

  • Malicong says:

I am so mad this morning that it makes my face numb. As I said earlier in the year, this season can be wrapped up into two sentences: There is so much to say but nothing much worth saying. Something has to change if OU wants to get back to national title contention.
I don’t think it’s fire Stoops time yet, but another season like this and it may be.
I am livid with the Big 12. Nearly all of us fans have been yelling for 3 years about getting back to at least 12 teams so they wouldn’t be left behind, but we were told that it wouldn’t hurt the conference brand and the schools could bring in more money.
The playoff committee basically just told the Big XII, it doesn’t matter if your teams play a tougher schedule, are actually better, or have, essentially, the same record, since you don’t play a (not really since the two best team from the conference rarely play in it) championship game, you will never again play for a national title. If they do not at least explore expansion possibilities ASAP, the Big XII will be dead when the grant of rights expires unless a legal team can come up with a way of getting out of it.

    • boomersooner says:

You’re on it I think. What happens if you don’t add and the little guys jump ship. Then everybody’s scrambling. We’d find a spot but some might not be so lucky. I don’t know the politics of k st and kansas or baylor, tech, and tcu with texas but I’d hate to be TCU and get stuck with cusa

  • Malicong says:

My suggestion for expansion is UCF and Cincy if that is possible. I don’t know if UCF would want to isolate itself without bringing in USF as well. I don’t want Memphis or any other Texas schools. I wouldn’t mind adding BYU if the politics wouldn’t be a problem, but it almost surely will.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

IMO there isn’t anyone worthy of expansion.. The Big12 needs to appeal for a championship game & have the other P5’s play 9 league games, so we’re all on the same playing field for playoff contention.

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

      They’ve already appealed in May.

    • boomersooner says:

That’s a good point. You want us to have a CCG? Quit being bitches and schedule the extra conference game. I like it. Seems fair. Quit scheduling vandy, Kentucky, so car, ark, miss st(before this yr), ole miss(before this yr), Tulane, Memphis, w Kentucky, and ga st….seems like an easy 10 wins most yrs

      • Boom says:

CCG WILL not work with 10 teams as it will dilute the Big 12 further. Also, it’s not fair for the players. Bottom line, either go big with risk or fade away. Exposure (more bowl games, playoffs, recruiting) and additional revenue is now gone. Big 12 cannot afford this type of lose. We are standing in the play ground and no one will pick us.
Go to 14, play a bunch of patsies (4 non conf games) like the SEC so you can get 10 teams in bowls and exposure. I don’t like it but it’s the new process which started a long time ago but we couldn’t see the woods because of the forest.

        • boomersooner says:

Oh I’m just being silly. I think there are way too many bowls but yeah I guess if we’re stuck with what we’ve got in CFB then we need to add

          • Boom says:

I get it. I said the big 12 policies were a major mistake before losing all 4 teams. It took losing 4 teams to change the revenue sharing policy in the b12. Dodd’s at his best on the revenue sharing policy which backfired like everything else he touched. Yes, I’m hard on him but it all started with him and OU. I have to admit, OU didn’t help much either.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

    Also, bring on basketball season!

  • Swanny says:

I’d love to see the B12 go after 4 teams. Cincy, Fresno or San Diego St, UCF, and BYU. That’s cali, Florida, Ohio, and a national team.

  • sooners12thman says:

Keep hoping for some changes! Both coordinators gotto go gotto go! Big 12 better get the Championship game back. Bob Bowlsby sounded like a baby yesterday!

  • Peabody Thekat says:

An excuse as weak as known possible in order to include Ohio State.

    Big 12 didn’t have a conf. championship game…..yea…sure.

  • Cush Creekmont says:

So, “Clemson will also be without their offensive coordinator….” Can we play without ours? Or better yet, w/o our DC?

  • Andrew Roberts says:

TFB, might be a dumb question, but did the coaches bench Julian Wilson for Jordan Thomas these past few games due to play or the broken thumb? I was at the game so had limited access to twitter/the broadcast but did notice he was in at the end of the game for Thomas. Thanks!

    • Glocal Sooner says:

Wilson was out for several games because of the broken thumb. He came back in Saturday for Thomas because Thomas got hurt.
