Sooners News Daily 12.10.14

FOOTBALL

Pretty substantial development with respect to OU winning this bowl game.

There are some conflicting reports on whether or not this is actually happening, but hopefully it does if for no other reason to ensure Bob doesn’t bring him back to Norman.

Oh how the once mighty have fallen

RECRUITING

OTHER

Crossfitter hurts his balls. (Deadspin)

nopenopenopenope.

Looks trippy, man.

Looks like every other disaster movie ever made, maybe with better effects.

McMurphy injects himself into a conversation between ADs and he expects them to admit they were talking about expansion?

  • Sooner Ray says:

With the Clemson news, our defense has it a little easier. The offense still has an uphill battle and their fans don’t seem to think we will pose much of a threat.

  • Cole says:

The Sooners need to just hire a safeties coach and let mike focus just DC and have heupel step down to qb coach and hire either a new OC or bump up Norvell.

    • Kelly Gurbcock says:

I’d rather see Cale get his shot at OC than bumping up Norvell.

    • Bob Edwards says:

Norvell has already been a OC at both Nebraska and UCLA. Did not particularly set the world on fire there. If he really wanted to be an OC he would have gotten the position at OU when Heupel was promoted or left when he was passed over.

    • Indy_sooner says:

They are CO-OCs. I am not sure why JH gets slack and Norvell doesn’t. They are both responsible for fielding a competent gameplan and offense. You cannot terminate one without the other, IMO

  • sracer says:

Don’t understand why people think bo pelini would want to be back in norman.
When he bolted to lsu he said he wanted to coach a real defense. I doubt bob would even want him back after that comment.

So the fact that DeBerry put an extra hashtag in front of OU is a good sign, right? Right?!?

  • ccmosaic says:

McKee tweet, is that significant? Is that good news? We are in some serious need of LB help.

  • Glocal Sooner says:

Just curious for the sake of being realistic here, when was the last time you saw a coach take a demotion to stay at the same school? I can’t think of one. Maybe you can. Until we come up with some good examples, I think suggesting that Heupel should take a demotion from OC to QB Coach needs to stop. It’s not realistic. Yeah in a perfect world that sounds great but it’s not realistic, it doesn’t happen. He’s either staying as the OC or moving on to another school. He may move to another school and be the QB Coach but he wouldn’t at OU. Just doesn’t happen that way.

    • Bob Edwards says:

Doesn’t happen much in football or any aspect of life. Only works when the guy wants to take a step down and that is rare. I wouldn’t want to take over from a guy who had been forced to take a step down. If he was worth keeping, he will have too many people loyal to him in the organization. You would be stepping into a situation where there was a built in faction opposed to you. The only way that could work if he was put in a total different part of the organization.

  • MrBigsby says:

    Yo Kish….do you even recruit?

  • BigJoeBrown says:

You know that King of the Hill episode where Hank Hill deals the deal for the client by ordering a slice of pie and if it’s really urgent getting it a la mode….that’s how I envision a certain recruiting technique.

  • Brent says:

Does the girl in the Crossfit video still have any eligibility left? she looks like a promising LB prospect.

  • Jeff says:

Why would OU bring in a crappy team like Cincinnati, hell the Big 12 already added a crappy team in West Virginia!
