As a fan of ou football and sports in general I believe I speak for a large amount of fans when I say what perine did Saturday is what the fans needed and the team needed after all that has happened this year the roller coaster ride this fan base has been on this was a bit of sunshine a bit of something good to get away from all the negative that has been surrounding this fan base thank you perine.

So I guess we need Striker to log a 6 or 7 sack game to get LBs interested in us. Basically do a Perine but for the LB position. Have to think what Perine did just cemented us as a legitimate destination for RB and OL recruits seeking greatness for a good while.

So on Mike Gundy and the Florida thing. IF Mike leaves OSU for Florida, any chance he tries to take Cale with him?

I think losing Mike Gundy would set OSU football back a bit. And I’m fine with that. I mentioned him leaving the other day, and somebody said they wanted him to stay b/c OSU might take that next step under a different coach. I feel the opposite. If OSU couldn’t take that step under Miles/Gundy, they aren’t likely to take it under the next coach. JMO.

I’d have to think there w/b a pretty good chance of that. Now would Cale go? My hunch is no, but family is hard to turn down.

      • Zack says:

Especially if family offers a promotion and better weather and sink holes instead of frackquakes

        • Jed says:

True, but spend some time in Florida and you pick up the distinct odor of SoCal circa 1978. Stupidest damn people I’ve ever encountered. Uptight because they know they’re empty and dense and kind of snarly about it.
You can’t work 24/7 and once you’re done there, you’ve got yourself and your wife and that’s it to have a life with.

Cale pretty much coaches at OU as long as he wants to; go to Florida and he likely will be unemployed in four years. He has never struck me as wanting to be the OC and seems pretty dang happy doing what he is doing. I assume he is one of the high paid RB coaches in the nation.

      • Boomer4life says:

I’m really surprised he hasn’t been enticed by the NFL.

    • SoonerSpock says:

Of course at 85 Boone Pickens will not be around for long but his envolvement probably keeps the OSU job as a stepping stone job. Without Pickens envolvement Gundy was a lifer. Football coaches like to run their own program without donors meddling and that is not going to happen with Boone alive.

      • Boom says:

If Mike Gundy were to leave, I will bet money that the next incoming coach would make more as a backhand slap in the face.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

IMHO, if Gundy=out, Fedora=in and oSu doesn’t fall off.

  • Katyboomer says:

Does what Perine did insure CBS stays at OU

  • Josh says:

O-Line getting credit is much deserved but DO NOT forget about the receivers. Coach Norvell’s guys worked their tails off in that game blocking down field. With the weather and the QB situation they knew they weren’t going to see many balls their way and when they did the passes were less than stellar. But they didn’t get mule lipped about it and they worked hard for Samaje and the team. I commented about it on Twitter and actually got a follow back from Coach Norvell(name drop) and a DM from him thanking me and we talked a little about his players. This is absolutely a team record. Great job all around and something for Sooner fans to be proud of!

  • Borba22 says:

Sucks for RB, especially because he still had 4? games left had he not got injured.
