Kenneth Mann: 2015 DE Kenneth Mann out of Burleson, Texas is heading up to Norman today with his coach. Earlier this week, Oklahoma got a DE commitment from Louisiana’s Tyrell Jacobs. We’ve been told that OU is planning on taking two DEs, so Mann could conceivably fill that final spot. We’ve asked him if he plans on committing today, and he said he wasn’t sure. We’ll know one way or another later today.

David Long: On Monday 2015 LB David Long (Cincinnati, OH) came down to Norman for an unofficial visit. Long visited without an offer and hoped to come away with one, but that did not happen. Long said about the possibility of an offer coming later that, “they (the coaches) want to watch my first couple games before they do (offer).” Despite not receiving said offer, Long said that the visit still “went great.” Although Long plays inside LB in high school, he’s told us that OU is actually looking at him as a NB/OLB.

Pat Allen: Oklahoma has been recruiting 2015 offensive tackle Pat Allen out of Maryland for some time now. We got in touch with him recently to gauge his interest, and were told he’s very interested in Oklahoma. We asked him what kind of chance they have at landing his commitment, and he said OU has a “great chance.” We’re going to try to get a full update from him in the next few days.

John Humphrey: Chatted with John Humphrey for a second time after his visit to Texas last weekend, and he’s not happy with UT. He talked about how the Texas coaches worked hard to get him and his family down on a visit for their camp last Friday. He said they called repeatedly prior to the camp, so he and his family finally agreed to attend. But he said when they got there the coaches essentially ignored him and his family. He didn’t work out during the camp and said that he “never will” for them. We’re personally baffled by some of Texas’ recruiting strategy. This certainly isn’t first time the Horns have rubbed a recruit the wrong way. The Texas coaches really bungled the offer to PJ Mbanasor as well.

We’ll be very surprised if Humphrey ends up anywhere other than Oklahoma. He is one of the most fluid and explosive athletes in the state of Texas. He’d be a tremendous pick up for OU.

Samaje Perine: Other day I (K) was talking to a friend of mine from Austin, and he told me he was at the barber shop recently which happened to be the same place where Perine got his hair cut while growing up. My buddy and the barber were talking about Perine’s discipline and work ethic. So the barber tells my buddy that when Perine was young he’d jog 10 miles to the barber shop just to get his haircut, haha. Which is obviously a random story, but sometimes you hear stuff like that and just want to share it with others you think might get a kick out of it.

– UPDATE (10:23 am): Per Demetric Warren, OU has offered 2016 five star (per 247) DE Ed Alexander (Hammond, LA) – VIDEO

UPDATE (10:40 am): Checked in again with Kenneth Mann and he said that it is just him and his coach heading up to Norman. His mother is not with him. He has visited OU once before for the spring game however, again, his mother was not with him. Not sure if that will matter ultimately in whether or not he’s able to commit but thought it was at least worth a note.

UPDATE (4:35 pm): BREAKING – Kenneth Mann has committed to Oklahoma!

  • Super K says:

Kenneth Mann just hit me up and said he’s on his way and he’s excited for the trip.

    • Jason Vos says:

After reading his story, i bet he commits today. I don’t see how he can delay or prolong this type of opportunity especially after he realizes that scholarships for DE’s are limited.

      • Zack says:

And I would have to check but ou is probably his biggest offer so for a kid under the radar he might pull the trigger. That’s why I was hoping him and Jacobs would be on campus at the same time and maybe they would help recruit each other. Both are very similar on film and very underrated.

        • Doobie74OU says:

Yeah osu, Kansas St, and California are the other “Big Time” offers he has but none of those are even close to as BIG as OU!

  • Jason Vos says:

I doubt OU only takes 2 DE’s. Even if Mann commits today, there are still guys like Lampkin, Lucifer-South, Gallimore, Darrion Daniels, McKinnley, Breylin Mitchell & Gabriel Campbell on the board. I think OU ends up with 4 DE’s & 2 DT

    • Super K says:

Agree. I think for the right guy they’ll take more. Campbell and/or Gallimore are takes. Havent seen enough of Breylin Mitchell to say. Lucifer-South in an OLB in our scheme.

      • Roger Nixon says:

Guys, please. It is LUCIER-SOUTH. Quit trying to demonize him, 🙂

      • Doobie74OU says:

And Lucier-South (my computer tries to auto-correct to Lucifer every time as well LOL!) would be a good one! With his Speed and Length! I would love to see him coming off the edge in Crimson & Cream!

      • hOUligan says:

Lampkin = ut, Gallimore likely tOsu, could also end up at DT the way he is growing. Campbell another versatile guy would love at DE. Daniels would be a nice addition to DT to go with Big Q. Could easily see 6 DL in all. Take them if they’re ‘OU good’ this year unless you’ve got something special ‘on deck’ for 2016.

  • Eric Hoffpauir says:

When I saw that pic, I thought it was a former Sooner still in shape after his playing days, not a true freshman yet to go through a college S&C program.

    • Super K says:

He and Mixon just don’t look like freshmen.

      • Zack says:

Been hearing mixon is up to 220 which is no slouch. Also for those worried about his home sickness it seems he’s getting over that based on his twitter the last week or so.

        • Super K says:

The homesickness thing was an “issue” early on but it’s nothing to worry about. From what we heard, it was a little excessive early on but as time went on it was nothing to sweat…just normal homesickness. To be expected.

        • Doobie74OU says:

Yeah it was probably just a amped up version of what everybody goes through when they move that far from home! He was “THE MAN” in his hometown always had a ton of stuff to do and plenty of people to do it with. Moved to Oklahoma didn’t know a lot of people football practice was o month away leaving him more down time. I always figured if he made it to the start of camp then he would be fine! Glad he and Perine are both at OU and will be part of a great 1-2-3-4 punch the next few years!

      • hOUligan says:

Just do not recall OU ever bringing in a frosh who looked so physically mature, especially a RB. I cannot wait to see what this young man can do with the ball in his hands, especially when he gets into the open field against DBs.

        • Boom says:

          Dupree & AD

          • Doobie74OU says:

Still can’t say or read Marcus Dupree without SMH (Shacking My Head)

          • Boom says:

I know, still hurts. Like I said in another post, I played HS LB and was introduced to Dupree during a mixer outside of the frat house. We went to shake hands and I could barely get my hand around his. He towered over me and I asked, how much you weigh – he said 240. I felt sorry for those kids in HS who tried to tackle him.

          • Doobie74OU says:

Fortunately in High School not many tried and got close enough to succeed! LOL!

          • Boom says:

Looking at him reminded me of why I was living in a frat house. He was on a totally different level, even higher than any player at OU at the time.

          • hOUligan says:

Yessir. I stand corrected. Marcus more so than AD, coming in at 240ish. If only ….

      • Boom says:

Agreed and Mixon just turned 18. Curious when is Samaje’s birthday. Both of these guys are so far beyond their years.

        • Doobie74OU says:

Samaje Perine info according to his website
          DOB: September 16, 1995
          2013 Yards: 1489
          Height: 5′ 11″Weight: 230 lbs.
          Positions: Fullback, Tailback
          40 yard: 4.41s
          Bench: 435lbs. (1 rep)
          Incline: 375lbs.
          Clean: 320lbs.

          • Sonny Schovanec says:

Clean 320 is beyond great. The incline is also impressive. 40 time is almost to good to be true for a kid that size. If Periene can run a sub 4.5 40 electrically time I’ll eat crow.

          • EasTex says:

It’s pretty tasty if you marinate it for about 24 hrs.
            /experience

        • EasTex says:

          Mixon’s birthday is tomorrow.

          • Boom says:

That’s still unreal to know Mixon is 17. 6’2 220 and moves like a deer. I like both of these guys and they offer different options for the coaches. Best of luck to both

          • EasTex says:

            He’s a man child, fo’sho’.
Can’t wait to see him on a stretch play.

          • Boom says:

Short pass in the open field, bet his eyes will light up like silver dollars

          • Doobie74OU says:

Can you imagine in practice right now if Perine gets a pass in the flat looks up and sees CB Dakota Austin’s 5’10” 165lb 10 yards away. He probably would just give a chuckle and steam roll him!

          • EasTex says:

I’m already feeling bad for Dakota with that image.
Can’t wait to see SP in the OU drill.
/just had some corner of the mouth drool

        • Doobie74OU says:

Perine will be 19 between the 3rd & 4th game of this coming season!

  • SoonerPhins says:

Samaje “The Beast” Perine, looks like a Junior and has the Maturity of one too. I have a feeling he will be a name that goes down as a great OU RB.

    • Zack says:

The falcons called..they want Steven Jackson back.

      • Malicong says:

I have been racking my brain trying to think of who he reminded me of and I think you hit the nail on the head.

    • LLAdamJ7 says:

When I saw the picture of him above I thought he was a d-lineman. That dude is HUGE!

  • Brian says:

I think we need to see a Blind Tape Test on DE commits/offers…

  • soonerbred4ever says:

Samaje looks like full grown man in that picture. he should be a corners nightmare with a 40 to 60 lb. advantage.

    • SoonerPhins says:

They better not try to arm tackle him or they would just get dragged for 10 more yards.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Agreed. I have a sneaking suspicion Samaje will end up being the hidden gem of the class and a man among boys so to speak. Perhaps even a Derrick Henry type of mauler.

  • bjwalker82 says:

Jesus Semaje. He’s as big as a house.

    • boomersooner says:

He’s a big boy for sure, but please please, in the nicest tone of internet voice, could you not take the Lord’s name in vain? Thanks in advance

      • KellyB says:

Thank you boomer. As a Christian, I feel the same way. I appreciate your tact

        • bjwalker82 says:

With respect, I was referring to him by his Spanish name. Ole!

          Didn’t mean to offend

          • rphdenton says:

don’t worry about it……..this kind of sensitivity is the crap that turns into 3 pages of arguments on oui

          • boomersooner says:

Sensitivity? Its just being a human being. This ain’t your website. Its just civil and polite. Shouldn’t be too difficult

          • Jed says:

Now, now, let’s all be nice. I would assume that those who are offended with the language above would not appreciate extending the same courtesy to The Prophet, Satan, Odin, Shango, Dunna the Earthmother, so forth and so on.
Probably best if we keep the topic to football….and that probably includes not only a touch of self censorship, but also a little forebearance.

      • Sloots_SuckedMeoff says:

Yep. Jesus is the guy who dries my car off. Good dude.

      • SoonerPhins says:

Not to start a religious argument here, but not everyone has the same beliefs as you. While I may believe in God or Jesus, I also believe people shouldn’t censor themselves for the sake of not offending people. Just my opinion and hope this doesn’t get blown out of proportion.

        • FeedtheMonster says:

“Are you sayin’ that Jesus Christ can’t throw a curve ball?” Haha, I love that movie!

    • Travis Coyle says:

Holly ghost he is big! lol

  • Super K says:

Coach Stoops about to be on First Take. Can probably catch it at lunchtime for those of you who can’t get away from the desk.

    • bjwalker82 says:

Maybe he’ll talk about Saban calling the Sugar Bowl a consolation game. What kind of integrity is that?

      • vargo05 says:

I have respect for his ability to field a great team, but as a person he’s just a miserable jerk.

    • SoonerPhins says:

Will be interesting because of what Saban said the other day while on First Take. Also SAS is a Saban nut hugger.

      • Zack says:

I hope stoops asks skip baseless if he should still be fired

        • SoonerPhins says:

Nope Skip will just bring up the 2008 NCG and rave about how good Tim Tebow was and somehow relate it to OU football… Then he will somehow bring up Johnny boy and 3 minutes of your life will be wasted.

          • Zack says:

He’s been wasting people’s time for about 25-30 years.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

No doubt. And to think he’s an OU fan. I still remember when he tried to call for Stoops to be fired after the 2008 NC. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why that guy has his own show.

          • Zack says:

People still watch for some reason. I used to follow him on twitter and I would get so mad at his tweets that I had to block him. He just does it for viewership and ratings the guy might have been a great columnist in the 80s and 90s but he’s not real as a “analyst”

          • leatherneck1061 says:

Just goes to show you don’t have to be good or accurate to get ratings, just loud and obnoxious.

    • Tom says:

You can tell Stoops is holding Skip’s comments a few years ago over his head. Stoops has a grin on his face like he could punch Skip in the face….

  • vargo05 says:

Have you guys heard anything on Breylin Mitchell? Seems a while back people were talking about him likely decommitting from TCU and becoming a Sooner at some point. Haven’t heard squat in a long time.

    • SoonerPhins says:

Funny if OU keeps swiping TCU commits. Samaje, PJ, and maybe Cody Ford.

      • Super K says:

Between OU, grades and whatever else…TCU is having a rough go.

      • Brian says:

Samaje was never committed to TCU.

        • SoonerPhins says:

I thought he was, my mistake. I thought I had read somewhere when OU was recruiting him that he was a TCU commit.

          • EasTex says:

It was essentially OU or Bama for the young man.
Glad he made the correct choice.

          • Doobie74OU says:

The Sugar Bowl probably helped OU, Not that we won but that the Bama freshman Henry was running wild all night. He probably thought they were set at RB while we were replacing our top 3 backs.

          • Brian says:

Yeah, Perine was already committed at that point, but SP did say that the depth chart at OU’s was far more favorable than Bama’s when he did commit.

          • Doobie74OU says:

Yeah I was just joking around about that dang Henry kid that we couldn’t tackle for anything! ROFL!

          • EasTex says:

            He committed 13 Mar 2013.

          • Doobie74OU says:

Yeah I was just joking around about that dang Henry kid that we couldn’t tackle for anything! LOL!

          • John Garner says:

Let’s all remember though that, according to Saban, the Sugar Bowl was a consolation game. The Tide wasn’t motivated.

    • Super K says:

Last we heard he was interested in OU but he hasnt been able to make the trip up. We’ll see if we can get in touch.

    • Brian says:

I second that…would love an update.

    • lovethemsooners says:

Curious on what his response on this would have been in regards to OsU as opposed to Texas. What’s the bottom line truth on that I wonder. Would OU have been willing and/or able to move to another conference without them tagging along?

      • SoonerPhins says:

I would hope OU holds the Texas game higher than the OSU game. Yeah they are in state but I feel the Texas game means more. If OU would cut Ties with Texas I would think they would do the same for OSU.

        • EasTex says:

I don’t think that cord can be cut, unless the OSU members of the state legislature are voted out of office.

          • Sonny Schovanec says:

True Story my man East Texas.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

You’re right, it can’t be cut – not for reasons concerning rivalries but for political reasons. I seem to remember them raising their voices when this whole PAC 12 discussion was taking place. The puke parasites basically live off Sooner largesse (along with Boone Pickens) like they’re our adopted children or something.

          • nisakat2 says:

it can be cut. there are still many more ou fans than osu fans.

ou fans can let it be known that they will not vote for any politician that stands in the way of ou going their own way.

          • leatherneck1061 says:

I sympathize, but that’s just not realistic. Come election time, there just aren’t enough people in this state that are going to go to the polls to vote solely on an issue like this. They will vote based on political issues. Not this. And yes, unfortunately for us, it is a 99% certainty that little orange-headed brother’s umbilical cord will never be cut.

        • Sonny Schovanec says:

With all do respect OU won’t go anywhere w/o Okie Light. Mr Hargus and Pres. Boren if you don’t believe me.

  • Josh says:

38 Days Till Football Time in Oklahoma!! Been waiting to put that pic up for weeks now! My all time favorite play in OU history! Love how Roy was told to not leave his feet this time! I’m curious to see where other fans rank it in their top plays in Sooner history. Boomer!!

    • SoonerPhins says:

There are so many memorable plays. I would have to put it in a top 10-15 though.

    • Kody K. says:

Defensively in my top five plays.

    • Doobie74OU says:

I can still remember sitting there with 3 of my friends watching that game and we are never quiet at all during the game and after that play we just starred at the screen and each other with nothing to say! Amazing Play, Amazing Player, Amazing Game, which all led to a AMAZING DAY! Thanks for the memories!

      • DrZemus says:

Same here. Was a great day to be in the Cotton Bowl.

        • Kody K. says:

I’m jealous! You were actually there? I’ll never forget that play from Superman!

          • EasTex says:

            Unforgettable.
My cat hid for hours after that play.

          • Kody K. says:

You are one funny dude, Tex. LOL!

          • EasTex says:

            Funny and true.
He didn’t hang in the living room much when OU played.
            /God rest him

          • Josh says:

Hell I can’t get anybody to watch a game with me anymore lol. In 2000 I was watching the a&m game, like all games back in those days, with my Pops. He was too nervous and couldn’t take it so he went to check the mail and missed the Torrance INT but heard me screaming from down the street and came running back in lol!

          • blaster1371 says:

I almost prefer to watch alone. A few friends of mine will come over to watch me watch the game. I make them leave at half time.

          • Defend Colfax says:

I hate watching games with most people as well. There are too many of the “that’s holding”, “we suck”, or “fire somebody” fans out there.

          • Josh says:

Me too! I have one friend that comes over every now and then to watch the games, he is a fan but he isn’t as crazy as I am. We watched tu and Baylor last year together so obviously he is banished from the house this year.

          • blaster1371 says:

I hear you. The husband of my wife’s friend called the house as USC was kicking the crap out of OU. I had quit watching the game and was outside taking down Christmas lights. This non-USC fan Told Becky he was going ask me how I was liking the game and rub it in. She told him it was a bad idea. He said “come on put him on the line.” She replied,” if I do he will hang up, get in his truck, drive across town to your house and dismantle your Harley with his bare hands and throw the parts in your pool.” Stunned silence was followed by a “click.” I love my wife!

          • Josh says:

And you would have been well within your rights to do so!

          • FeedtheMonster says:

I have finally found a support group! I don’t know how many times I have told family members, “I’m not the only one who does this!” I have come to terms with the probability that God gave me a louder voice than most people.

          • EasTex says:

I know people with loud voices that hurt my ears…I have hypersensitive hearing.
They don’t like my voice, it is deep, but I use my thoracic diaphragm to force a large volume of air. They say it frightens them when I do that. LOL.
Can’t help it, love those Sooners.

          • Josh says:

Absolutely! Join the club lol, you are not alone!

          • EasTex says:

Man, I was on pins and needles until that play.
I exploded when he made the pick, then when he kept running and scored I was so dizzy I just flopped back in my lazyboy with my arms up signaling TD.

        • blaster1371 says:

Half that stadium must have erupted and the other half gasped… Cuz Texass sucks!

          • FeedtheMonster says:

OUr side erupted. The orange side, I would say crumbled is a better word for it. I will never forget it! So AWESOME!!

      • Rene Goupillaud says:

        My Top 5
Joe Washington TD and 2 point conversion vs Mizzou in 1975.
Hook & Lateral to Elvis Peacock vs NU.
        The Kick
Brian Hall’s one armed tackle of NU’s Jeff Smith on 4th and 1 inch.
Greg Pruitt’s Hello Goodbye TD against USC

        • Josh says:

Love the Old School Plays that made Sooner Magic what it is today, and I have a dislike for kickers for the most part but Uwe directing the band before drilling “The Kick” is a great moment for sure!! Awesome list!

          • blaster1371 says:

The Watson clan was packed around the TV set for that one. My uncles power smoked cigarettes outside during the time outs, no one was allowed to sit, even the dog. Grandma reminded all the boys to not cuss whether he made it or not…. And then she prayed. The house erupted when he made it. Ice Cold, steely eyed play if I ever saw one.

        • Jed says:

Brennan Clay’s TD in OT vs OSU two years ago is worthy of being on that list as well. Dude would NOT be stopped.

          • Boom says:

Scott Hill’s massive hit on Dorsett. Unreal. Any of Boz’s blitz’s, he timed them so well, QB never had a chance. Don’t get me talking about the 75 defense, they made highlights every game.

        • soonermusic says:

There are so many but your top two are about as good as it gets, for sure…

      • blaster1371 says:

Dude!!! I was howling and pounding the floor. Wife thought I had lost it.

    • Kody K. says:

Thanks for the picture Josh, and for bringing back such a good memory.

    • blaster1371 says:

Millard’s trucking of the Texass secondary is the offensive equivalent of this play.

    • Sooner_Ace says:

      One of my top plays….Boomer!

    • Stats says:

And which of those plays can be captured in a singe pic like this one? Millard’s Trucking and ? Slideshow anyone?

      • Josh says:

The Gif of this does it more justice than the still pic. Although I love Trey and that play, I don’t think it is quite as iconic as the Superman play. Tough to beat a play that seals a victory over tu.

      • Josh says:

I’m pretty sure I’ll have a Trey Millard pic ready on day 33 of the countdown… assuming he beats out Kenyon Rasheed and De’Mond Parker… although I might have to go old school with one of the most unique individuals to ever play in Norman and that is saying something!!

  • Stephen says:

Knew it was going to be a good post when I saw Perine as the cover pic!

  • Doobie74OU says:

Loved the UPDATE(10:23 am)! We are getting after the state of Louisiana right now. It is good to see we are keeping the pedal to the floor in our recruiting down there!

  • Super K says:

Kenneth and his coach have made it to Norman y’all.

  • KellyB says:

Based on Samaje’s size, have the coaches talked about moving him to a different position, like linebacker?

    • vargo05 says:

I’m sure they’ll wait and see how he fares at RB and if it looks like there maybe limited PT, they may offer him an opportunity to switch

    • SoonerPhins says:

Why move him when he is such a great running back? Who wants to try and tackle a 240lbs RB who can run a 4.5?

    • Doobie74OU says:

I was just looking back at his high school stats to see if he played LB at all! Just from the visual he would have been the best LB prospect we signed last year if he were a couple inches taller! FULL GROWN!

      • blaster1371 says:

Perhaps OU is turning to a more power offense to take advantage of the Big 12 defenses that tend be on the smallish side for the spread. O-lineman well over 300lbs and bigger RBs as well more TEs in the stable seem to indicate that route.

        • Doobie74OU says:

With their personnel they can run anything? Read Option, Speed Option, Power I Football, Old School Wishbone Look, Diamond Formation and all this with a well above average passing game! Can you imagine if Jamelle Holieway could have thrown the ball as well as Knight. On paper this has a chance to be a really special team the next couple of years. If they can translate the paper to the field it will be one heck of a ride for us OU fans.

          • Kody K. says:

Yes, and I hope they maintain stability in the offensive scheme. Getting too complicated can sometimes confuse your own players and throw them out of rhythm causing turnovers.

        • Zack says:

That’s a good point I think they’re trying to incorporate what the sec and big 10 do offensively with regards to power and size of players while maintaining what the big 12 has done well for years with smaller/shifty guys who make plays in space.

    • Sonny Schovanec says:

With all do respect NOT A CHANCE. Also without coming off as a no it all I don’t think fans realize how hard it is to “position change a athlete ” is. It would take a TON of reps and at least a year and then some to get a kid who has been a running back acclimated to playing LB which requires so much play recognition and LB smarts to master. Playing ILBer require being able to read the guards to the rb’s. Good ones can read the “Triangle”. Guards with their bottom eye to RB’s.

      • Sonny Schovanec says:

The Offensive Guards will tell you the play. If you solely read RB action your dicked and tricked. Especially any counter action by the RB’s. It’s a feel thing that takes tons of reps. If you stand behind the LBers in Inside Run drill you can see the LBers who get it. Any counter play the guards pull one way and the RB’s first action is the other way. Great LBers can read the triangle and trust their guard reads and not let the initial RB read trick them. Just my two cents for the day.

        • Eric Tauriainen says:

Excellent stuff. Thanks for the contribution. We all enjoy this kind of technical detail.

        • blaster1371 says:

That’s what we call the “reading the keys”. Takes a little film time but a lot of run plays have something to”key” or tip their hand- be it following a guard or reading the fullback. You’re right about watching the RB. My experience was the RBs first move is to set up the blocks as in getting the D to,flow one way or to a spot then counter off that.

      • Boom says:

Sonny, I agree, it is difficult but not impossible to someone who is both athletic and intelligent. George Cumby was a top RB in Texas and was going to be the FB in the option. Turned out he became an AA ILB and played for long time in the NFL. Again, I feel Samaje will stay at RB.

        • blaster1371 says:

Ahhhhh George Cumby ! Dude was a tremendous linebacker. Travis Lewis was higher rated as a RB than a linebacker in HS. I think Successful RBs develop a “feel” for how to attack a defense which might explain why the great ones get better later in the game.

        • Sonny Schovanec says:

Number 1: did Smamaje play LB in HS?? I have not a clue . Number 2: Cumby could play wherever the hell he wanted to play.

      • Stats says:

I hope this doesn’t sound too crazy, but what would a college coach do if a young kid like that continued to grow (like Lane Johnson)? Can you be too tall to be a RB? At 6′ 4″ do you have to go play somewhere else? I assume the S&C can focus on him not gaining bad weight, but height?

    • KellyB says:

Good feedback. I presume they would keep him at RB, but OU coaches have done a tremendous job putting guys in the best position to succeed

      • Sonny Schovanec says:

True story. If any staff can do it OU’s would be the ones. You are very correct in that assessment . Bell’s and OU’s success in moving Lane Johnson to OT is a little different. Bell being the QB knows the routes and can read defenses. Johnson was a QB, TE and moved to tackle. He already knew the offense and the techniques of blocking. ILBer is a different animal. That’s why I think Kish is under rated as a coach. Getting Dom and Evans ready to play at a high level so quick shows me that Kish is a ball coach worth having on staff.

    • EasTex says:

Leave SP right where he is, please. He is just fine at RB.

  • Kody K. says:

Good update on Mann’s mother not being there. Always a big plus when a parent tags along for the ride. Makes it difficult to commit on the spot without their blessing.

  • John Garner says:

Great pic of Samaje and another insightful Open Post. You guys are getting a lot of print at OUI. Info provided here is being posted there.

    • SoonerPhins says:

      Hale is allowing that?

      • Zack says:

He deleted one of my comments yesterday.

        • John Garner says:

Yeah, they allowed a poster to post Brainiac’s report on Humphrey dropping UT. Even mentioned the Brainiac’s. Long thread after that.

          • rphdenton says:

yeah, you’re right……..I’ve seen deletions for the simple mention of ‘tfb’ as recent as yesterday and now there’s this thread which is still alive…..will probably lead to some resignation on the part of oui or another jh meltdown

Folks I am going to ask once again please don’t bring this site on here! I have asked nicely but u pimping this site doesn’t help us at all and since they absolutely don’t give us any credit at all and they never give me any credit for things they get off my radio show I see no reason to help them out on this board or my radio show. I have never understand why u come on this board and want to run another site, especially one that disrespects us so much. I don’t agree with how they do things but I am no longer going to fight this on this board, but I respectfully ask that they are not mentioned any further on this board and not promoted on the board.

Dude doesn’t seem to have a problem w/ his subscribers bringing our info over there under the fallacy of “I heard this from someone…” and doing his job for him. But, yeah, we steal his s#$%. Riiiiiiiiiiight.

          • Zack says:

I’ve asked about guys and I know rph asks about guys. Most of what I see is “we’ll check in with that kid” I don’t really have a problem with their other admin over there they don’t seem to be defensive about things like jh.

          • Jordan Esco says:

And I totally get that. Wouldn’t ever suggest anyone not doing that. Not like any one person/site will ever have every bit of info w/ others having nothing to offer.

My issue is someone taking something from here essentially word for word, presenting it in the fashion I suggested above “I heard somewhere…”, while failing to acknowledge AND link to where they “heard” it. If TFB is banned from being mentioned somewhere, don’t take info from here over to wherever and pass it off as your own (which is not to suggest you are doing that Zach, I’m just speaking generally).

          • soonermusic says:

After reading the information posted about Hale’s past awhile back, I don’t find it at all surprising that you can’t rely much on his version of events.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Granted we aren’t taking s#$% from him, but if he wants credit for whatever he feels he’s owed….it’s only fair he credit TFB for breaking Mann’s commitment. Probably not gonna hold my breath waiting on that to happen.

I’m also OVER this criticism that we, or really anyone, simply “repeats what others report.” What the hell do you think everyone is doing tonight w/ the Jordan Phillips news? Or today w/ all of what Bob Stoops said. None of the local guys, or us for that matter, “reported” any of that. And yet here we all using it. This bulls#$% double standard some seem to have for us lowly “bloggers” is beyond played out.

          • soonermusic says:

you’re right, of course. And everybody can’t be first on every story. My only point was that if you’re gonna get frustrated because lunatics act like lunatics, then you’re gonna spend a lot of time being frustrated. I realize that “firing back” is part of the grand internet tradition, but imho, the cooler this site is about this, the less “tit for tat” and hostility that emanates from here, the more the TFB reputation grows as a site with a bunch of level headed guys, who deal in great information and get it fast.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Ultimately you are right. But, yeah, on occasion if someone it gonna take a cheap shot then I’m gonna fire back. It’s in my nature. Not necessarily proud of it and I know some here don’t like it, but if done properly I don’t think there’s a damn thing wrong standing up for yourself.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Like this over there right now:

“Word is they begged him to go to the camp.”

In reference to Humphrey and Texas. Now, jeez, where do you think they got that from? “Word is…”, classic.

          • rphdenton says:

          • Jordan Esco says:

            Sorry, last one.

And there’s a reason his paying subscribers are “pimping” another site, b/c it has info (for FREE) he doesn’t. That’s probably why.

Just spoke with a co-worker. She has a nephew at Broken Arrow who will be a Junior this season. His name is Rowdy Frederick. He’s an OL and listed at 6’6″ 325. She said he’s up to 6’7″ now. He’s visited OU twice, Texas once and osu once. I don’t know anything about this kid, but according to her if OU offers him he is a Sooner. She said he bleeds Crimson & Cream. That is a HUGE kid to just be entering his Junior year of high school!! Does TFB know anything about this kid?

  • SoonerPhins says:

Is there a realistic shot for OU with Ed Alexander?

To weak for a heart transplant. He will be missed.

        • EasTex says:

He was a quiet, humble champion.
Back before desegregation he attended a small high school in Hallsville, Tx and played against other small town schools in East Texas. He wasn’t under the radar, he was invisible.
His Uncle delivered bread to the UofH athletic dorm and mentioned his nephew to a coach one day, so they checked him out.
In his first game as a Sophomore(freshmen then played on the freshmen team) he entered the game half way through the third quarter, left the game mid way through the fourth quarter. He had thirteen carries for 245yds and 3 TDs.
I was thrilled he went to the Cowboys and wasn’t surprised at the career he had.

    • Boom says:

Stoops has more options than the bone. Interesting, I watched the 75 OU Michigan game. Late in the game Switzer was trying to get Simms in the game so he took out the FB and put Joe Washington as FB. It was great.

      • luvsoonersA53 says:

Thanks sooner and fin. I just remember when flowers reported early, there was some comments in the spring game. And now nothing, or has he been forgotten. There is noention of him any where.

    • EasTex says:

Don’t know if he will get many carries, but he looks to be Millard2.0.

  • Rees Bear says:

Was Cale Samaje’s recruiter? Cale, IMO, needs a respectable raise for his continued success at bringing in such quality talent at the RB position. By the time Cale ends his career at OU, the NFL will have a long list of RB’s who came through OU due to his efforts.

No disrespect to Mighty Joe Mixon here either- I’m only commenting on SP due to his pic atop this thread. So impressive this class.

I never understood the love for Orso…other than TFB’s pubbing him and not knowing what they are talking about. Same story as Mckinley Whitfield this year.

Orso is big, but not all that athletic nor is he all that strong…while also being a bit on the stiff side. He will need some development time for sure.

Mann is much more fluid than Orso, though I don’t know that Mann is actually 6-5 260 lbs. I would like to see how tall he truly is, probably closer to 6-3.
