Keisean Lucier-South: Yesterday OU fans got some good news when stud 2015 OLB/DE Keisean Lucier-South released his Top 5 schools which included (in no order): Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, UCLA, and Michigan.

Some additional good news, we chatted with Keisean afterwards and asked if he was planning on taking an official visit to OU and he said, “of course.” Lucier-South plays DE for his h.s. team, but is being recruited to play OLB by most schools. If he does indeed make that official visit to Norman, it would obviously give the Sooners another chance at a talented OLB prospect. OU is already in good shape to receive official visits from guys like Marshall ‘Bo’ Wallace, Cassius Peat, and Ricky DeBerry.

Neville Gallimore: More good news. If you thought Jerry Montgomery was done after he grabbed Tyrell Jacobs and Kenneth Mann recently, you thought wrong. OU still wants to Gallimore, and he is still interested in OU.

Neville will be taking an official visit to OU for the Tennessee game! As we’ve said, this one feels like it’s going to come down to OU, Ohio State, and FSU.

John Humphrey: Spoke to 2015 WR John Humphrey yesterday, and it sounds like he won’t be able to make it to OU this Saturday as was originally planned. Humphrey said that while he probably won’t make the unofficial visit, “I’ll come back for an official.”

PJ Mbanasor: However, 2015 OU CB commit PJ Mbanasor will be in town this weekend. This will be his third unofficial visit to OU. So, it’s safe to say he’s a solid commit!

Clark Yarbrough: 2016 OT from Virginia, Clark Yarbrough, also plans on being in town this weekend. Yarbrough said, “I’ll be there (at OU) for an on-campus visit August 3rd.” Yarbrough already has a number of offers and clearly has early interest in Oklahoma.

Secret Visitor: Debated whether to tell y’all this since we don’t want to come off like those “hey I know something, but I can’t tell you” type of guys. But OU will have another talented visitor on campus this weekend. The recruit asked us not to mention it so we of course won’t, but at least y’all can be excited about the fact OU will have one more stud in town this weekend.

Cody Ford: JY had a chance to break down some of the film of Cody from the 1-on-1’s at least weekend’s LSU camp. Here are his thoughts after reviewing the reps:

First off Cody looks like he’s in great shape and is more of a natural knee bender than he gets credit for. He got better as the day wore on at the camp and even though he didn’t do as well as he would have liked early in the day, the things he needs to work on are easily correctable. Reflecting on how I used to approach my game as an offensive lineman, you really have to critique how you play down to the smallest detail. Sometimes you can’t worry so much about what the defender’s doing. Instead, you’ve got to focus on being technically and fundamentally sound yourself.

What I did see is that Cody still is very aggressive and has that nasty streak we all love. He got overextended a couple of times trying to get a kill shot in on a guy with his hands, and at times he stops his feet. I never saw a point where he was out-athleted, rather he just had some lapses in technique that, to an untrained eye, would cause concern. But to me, timing his punch, keeping his hands cocked to his chest, and keeping his feet moving are the things I see he can work on right off the bat.

Focusing on that and concentrating on being fundamentally sound are all he needs to do. Cody is going to be a good one, and as he learns to be tight on his technique, defenders won’t get away with anything.

– UPDATE (4:12 pm): 2015 OT & OU offer, Conner Dyer (Mesquite, TX), has committed to Texas Tech.

can you at least tell us what side of the ball this secret visitor plays offense or defense, so we can make our own assumptions 🙂

    • Mr. Jones says:

Or you could tell us what state he’s from. That’s harmless, right?

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Or maybe a name his name rhymes with?

        • JB says:

I’m betting the answer you’ll get from Super K will go something like this:
          Super K: “SoonerfanTU…can you keep a secret?”
          SoonerfanTU: “Yes.”
          Super K: “Good…so can I!”

    • Fear The Magic says:

You dont have to give us his name but could you at least give us a tiny hint by telling us what town hes from. What his parents last name is. What his social security and telephone numbers are and his shoe size?
Ok….maybe forget the shoe size thats just TMI

  • Jason Vos says:

I’m guessing Cody Ford has not gotten the LSU offer yet. Whats the time table on a decision from him?

    • JY says:

From what we’ve been told, he’s looking at shutting down his recruiting soon, and LSU did not pull the trigger.

      • Jim says:

I figured that if we got past the LSU hump this past weekend, Ford would become OUrs to lose. I expect his commitment relatively soon, like before end of summer.

      • Boom says:

JY, with the OT mix of Allen, AKA, Ford, & Danley, where do you see the TT OT commit if he were to switch to OU. Not a real fair question for you but I like Ford and AKA but I’m not an expert by any means. Stoops has put in time with Danley so I would like to get your thoughts.

        • hOUligan says:

I say take em all if they can. A couple are versatile enough to play inside, too. Add in Barnett and maybe Tyler Moore and talking one heckuva OL class.

        • JY says:

Well I know that the staff likes to get HS guys, and now that Brown qualified, we may see them pull away from Juco guys. That’s a guess on my part of course just based on what we’ve done in the past.
At OT you have (non starters)
          Farniok
          Daimler
          St. John
          Grant
          Frison
          Brown
          Paul(also plays guard)
          HS incoming
          Evans
          Akamnonu(potentially)
Ford(potentially who could ofer depth at guard as well)
So when you look at it this way, Farniok will be a Senior in 2015 and You’d hope that one of the young guys like Frison, Brown, Grant or Daimler would step up too. I would suspect as we get deeper into fall camp and they see if these guys have progressed, it will tell us a lot about who we have on campus now if you see us shift away from the Juco guys. If we get hot after the Juco guys then it may be the staff saying the guys arent ready yet. With Trevor and the defense as well as other offensive weapons, expectations will be high in 15, and the tackle spot has to be in good hands.

          • hOUligan says:

Thanks, JY. More good insight. This is where a chat component would be great. So many ???? Farniok better at RT? Grant & Daimler still developing? Paul at OG looking more likely with only Nila, Alvarez & JP Hughes back in ’15. Frison & Brown on campus is SO huge.

          • JY says:

Yes I think Farniok is better suited at RT.

          • JY says:

Don’t forget Dalton at guard either, along with Dominque Hearne coming in, and potentially Barnett at OG either.

          • Jim says:

I loved Dalton’s film. He reminded me a lot of Ben Habern, who played very well for us for 3 years. Hopefully he succeeds as much as Ben did.

          • Gary Robbins says:

In 2015 would it be Farniok and St. John at tackle, Nila and Dalton at guard, and Darlington at center? I was going to attempt a second 5 but too many options. How would you line a 1st and 2nd team up in2015 with what we have on campus now.

          • Jim says:

Right now, just based on experience, my 1st-team would look just like yours. 2nd-team….not going to even try. Like you said, too many options.

          • hOUligan says:

Would agree: LT St. John RT Farniok C Darlington and some combination of Nila, Alvarez or Dalton at OG. Maybe a Juco, like LaFaele or Danley come in early and start.

          • Fear The Magic says:

Id love to see Grant beef up. We have a really good history of making TEs top notch OTs and I think Grant has the potential to be just that. I believe hes only around 270 lbs right now so he needs 20 – 30lbs more at least.

          • Boom says:

Love that Dalton was wrestler. Tells me he has more than just weight room strength and strong hands. Also, it speaks volumes for his athletic ability.

      • Josh says:

Thanks JY for the Ford info. Makes sense he might have a few issues in 1-on-1s being overly aggressive. He got himself overextended a few times in his HUDL video but was usually so much stronger than the defensive player it didn’t really matter. I’m excited about this kid and think he will be given every opportunity to play right tackle but would not be shocked at all if he ended up at guard.

        • JY says:

Completely a case where he has to trust his strength and make the block first. He’s gonna overpower most guys once he gets his hands on them, so make the block first, then bury them.

  • Jim says:

Secret visitor – 1. Someone already committed elsewhere. 2. Kendal Sheffield

  • Cole says:

I bet it’s Malik Jefferson or Christian Kirk.

  • kt-raida says:

I wait on open post Like a preteen at a bieber concert.

  • Tom says:

Starting to worry about Humphrey, Notre Dame may be more trouble than what we thought…

  • EasTex says:

Lots of visitors for the first weekend of fall camp. What I want to know is will they get to witness the OU Drill live and in person?

  • Mr. Jones says:

Will we at least fiind out who it is next week?

  • Josh says:

32 Days Till Football Time in Oklahoma! Getting closer!! There’s Only One!! Boomer Sooner!

      • Sooner 4Ever says:

Do you think Pat Jones wakes up two or three times every night in a cold sweat and shouts “dadgummit, will someone tackle Gaddis already!” before rolling over and going back to sleep?

        • EasTex says:

          I must admit, I never think about Pat Jones. :}

        • Sonny Schovanec says:

I can promise u it wasn’t dadgummit. It started with an F and sounds like Buck. Ask anyone who played for him. He used it often.

          • FeedtheMonster says:

“Gerald Moore just kicked our ass!” is my favorite Pat Jones quote. I have always wished we could have seen , Gerald, James Allen, and Demond Parker play for Stoops.

      • Fear The Magic says:

        Totally agree on Gaddis

      • blaster1371 says:

That #33 y’all saw blocking for Gaddis was Kenny King who in my opinion was the best OU fullback since at least the mid 70s.

Another OU running that sometimes gets lost in between Sims and Peterson was Steve Sewell.

  • Cole says:

Or it could be John Houston.

  • Calen Bertus says:

    What about Breiden Fehoko?

    • ToatsMcGoats says:

That’s what I thought as well.

    • Jordan Esco says:

Still no indication that I’ve seen/heard he’s softened his stance on being firm w/ Tech, though I’d suspect given the relationship the two had he and Monty still talk.

  • Doobie74OU says:

    1) Come on Super K, I thought we had a nice and friendly relationship started here! Friends can’t keep secrets from one another! Just reply to me below who is coming and I will promise not to tell anyone else and everybody else will promise not to read it! 🙂
    2) At first glance I thought KLS was smoking a big cigar in the pic above! LOL!
    3) Love the info on Lucier – South, Gallimore, Humphrey, Yarbrough, Ford and the rest! For all the concern for lack of recruiting momentum a month or so ago we sure seem to be picking up speed now and we are HIGH on the lists of a bunch of recruits!

    • ToatsMcGoats says:

That’s right Doobie. Secrets don’t make friends, and friends don’t make secrets…

    • Josh says:

Esco could you do me a favor and ask Brian if he’d like to have a catch… maybe sign my poster?

      • EasTex says:

I’ll never forget Boz’s Senior season. I was driving up from Austin on a Friday afternoon for the RRS and a car full of wHorn fans passed me and in their rear window they had written “Bosworth has AIDS.”
I told my traveling companion, looks like the entire wHorn offense will be infected come Saturday.

        • blaster1371 says:

I had a buddy that coached HS. He put on a highlight film of linebackers getting kill shots, a few had the Boz. He watched the players watch the highlight film. If a kid had no visceral reaction during the film he penciled them in for offense. If a kid could not stay in his seat and was getting amped up he would ink him in for defense.

          • Super K says:

Blaster that’s awesome! I think that should be up for comment of the day!

          • Eric Tauriainen says:

            Ditto

          • Boom says:

Good stuff. I coach in youth tackle and you can tell defensive players during camp. When you do 1 on 1 hitting drills with the team watching, the ones going crazy – defense.

        • JY says:

          Well played sir.

        • Roy C says:

I thought he left as a Junior

          • Josh says:

He left after his junior yr… Coach Switzer was going to dismiss him after the Orange Bowl T-Shirt incident so he went into the Supplemental Draft in 1987. I think he had already graduated at that time.

          • EasTex says:

            Yessir.
You’ve probably seen this, but still good.

          • Josh says:

Love it! I can listen to those guys talk about football all day!

          • EasTex says:

I stand corrected, though it was the RRS of his last year at OU.

        • ND52 says:

Bosworth was in Seattle during his senior season….

    • Billy Jackson says:

Hey Vargo! You’ve got that right. It’s awesome down here in Nashville, too. It should almost be illegal to be this nice in late July……But I’m not tellin’ anyone I saw anything.

  • lovethemsooners says:

    Secret visitor = Jamal Danley?

    • blaster1371 says:

I don’t know who this is but if it’s to be kept secret it could be someone already committed to another team. Perhaps someone associated with PJ?

    • rphdenton says:

……no reason for him to be secret I can think of………..however, I hope this ‘mystery’ is a really good o/d lineman, or perhaps lb

  • blaster1371 says:

Can having so many official visits to the OU-Tennessee game pose any problems? What I’m thinking is will some of the big names feel lost in the crowd or is it more difficult for a recruit to get their questions in? Does it pose any distractions for the team? IMO Tennessee is going to be better than some are predicting and their defense will be challenge for the OU offense.

    • Jordan Esco says:

I’d agree that the potential is there for something/s like that to happen, but w/ the add’l staff they have now the hope is obviously that things are much better organized/structured than they’ve been at times in the past.

    • Gary Robbins says:

Did I read on here on somewhere else that Tennessee was the only major college team that lost all their offensive and defensive lineman from last season. That would be tough to overcome early in the season.

      • EasTex says:

Yessir, all new O-line and essentially the same on D. What is worse they have no experienced depth at any position.
The ones to watch for the Vols are freshman RB Jalen Hurd and WR Pig Howard.
With only one QB with any experience and a new O-line, I think they will be fortunate to have a 6-6 season.

    • rphdenton says:

since they’re setting this up for a big recruiting weekend, I just hope they don’t lay a big egg on the field………..

    • EasTex says:

      I wouldn’t think so.
I went on an official visit with a couple of my team mates and our head coach. When we got there we were met with a player that was a freshman who showed us around. We didn’t know there were about two dozen other recruits from various towns there also, until we met in the athletes dining hall.
Just before game time we were all escorted to a long line of folding chairs behind the bench(it was homecoming) and instructed not to leave that area.
The team was struggling at about .500, even with a future NFL HOF QB running their offense, and the home team fans didn’t fill their seats and weren’t very excited. OTH, the visiting team only had about 300-400 fans, but they had so much spirit, were having so much fun and their team played with such aggression and passion, I told one of my buddies I was ready to fold up my chair and take it to the other teams bench.
Point being, I believe OU can handle the visit just fine and make a good impression, especially with a great effort. It is also up to the fans to make it a special night.

The 911 tape has officially surfaced

    http://newsok.com/article/5100353

    • Jordan Esco says:

Heard it this a.m., very little there in the way of new info, IMO.

      • Zack says:

Basically it had already been released. The little passage they released Friday night saying “unnamed female hit by unnamed male and is bleeding from her mouth.” Other than that nothing really on that tape.

      • cpearc00 says:

Oh for sure, just thought I’d post here for those like me who can’t think of anything else while this looms in the air.

      • cpearc00 says:

I do, however, believe that the recording gives slightly more credibility to the notion that Amelia was actually punched in the face, as opposed to being pushed as some have suggested. I do mean slightly, though, since the caller admits to not actually seeing the altercation.

        • OmorganU says:

I think it’s always going to be peoples first reaction to assume someone was punched when there is an altercation and someone’s bleeding from the mouth. Without him actually seeing the event, it’s still very plausible that she was pushed and hit her face. I think it’s still to early to say either way at this point without new information.

          • cpearc00 says:

Certainly. Although from a legal standpoint, the 911 tape can be admitted into evidence as an exception to the hearsay rule. Thus, if this case were to go to trial (which I doubt it will), then a jury would be able to hear that she was punched from someone at the scene. Again, this evidence is diminished by the fact he admits he didn’t actually see it.

          • Malicong says:

It more than diminishes this witness, he actually can only testify as to what he actually witnessed, meaning the person on the 911 tape can only say he witnessed her bleeding from the mouth. He would not be able to testify that she was punched or who was the aggressor.

          • cpearc00 says:

Correct, but I was specifically referring to the admissibility of the 911 tape itself, not the parameters of the employee’s testimony. Whether or not it constitutes a present sense impression will be up to the judge.

    • Kody K. says:

Thanks for sharing. It was cool to listen to the audio.

    • Krys Allen says:

I find it interesting they decided to release this now… I would think you would just release it when there is more info. It’s almost like they are just releasing bits at a time to intentionally tease everyone.

  • Zack says:

Well I guess I have to admit tech is having a good year so far recruiting. It will be interesting to see if all these kids are still excited about Lubbock (Americas 2nd worst little town) when the team finishes in the bottom half of the big 12.

    • EasTex says:

I don’t know who you are talking about, but signing day is a long way away. We’ll see how good their class is once they sign.

    • rphdenton says:

I think dyer was another ol in that group of ol that came up all at one time a while back from texas primarily…….if not mistaken, they all went elsewhere…….after reading the oui interview with akamnonu, don’t be surprised if it’s another tt

      • Zack says:

I’ll have to read that one again I didn’t get that feeling originally but maybe I misunderstood something.

        • Gary Robbins says:

Is it the article written by James Hale which I found on a free site. The only negative thing I seen was where he mentioned the younger
coaches at Tech and Stoops was to meet with him but had to leave.
          Article about Akamnonu.

          • rphdenton says:

it wasn’t negative ou stuff………with tt he has some family in the area and he was impressed with the tt staff youth and relating to players plus they also have the pe program he wants…..have seen the remarks about the tt staff mentioned from a few players that chose them…….hey, we have a good shot but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s tt, that’s all

          • Boom says:

Tapper is hoping he starts as a freshman.

          • Gary Robbins says:

It’s amazing looking at the Tex. Tech recruits. Out of their 8 commits, I thought OU had a very good shot at 4 of them (Stidham, Fehoko, Lafaele and Dyer). Like they say February is a long way off. OU needs to go down there and put a good whooping on them.

          • Zack says:

Not just that but we need to put it on every team and not let the isu and ku’s of the world hang around.

          • Gary Robbins says:

I agree, take no prisoners. Does the so called style points come into the picture anymore?

          • Zack says:

They probably do to an extent for example if a similar thing happened the way it did in 2008 where we scored 60+ in 4 or 5 straight games then yeah but for just one embarrassing blow out probably not so I think you will see coaches run up scores any chance they get now.

          • Gary Robbins says:

That would probably help some teams with a weak out of conference schedule.

          • bmrsnr says:

Fehoko has strong ties and turned pretty much the whole country down. Stidham has been rumored to be wavering, but he probably likes what he sees when he looks at TTU’s QB depth chart.

          • Sooner Ray says:

            Define depth. HAHA.

          • Boomer4life says:

        • Gary Robbins says:

Thanks been trying to find this picture forever. I think the 2nd player is Keaton Sutherland a A&M commit. The best shot at gaining a commit from this group is Barnett, not sure about Wariboko. They were on campus just need to close on them.

      • bmrsnr says:

        nvm

  • kt-raida says:

    Wow Texas tech…

  • Stephen says:

Not sure this has been discussed, but Stephen A. Smith has been suspended from ESPN for his comments about domestic abuse. Briefly read over it while I could, but from what I got in a short time was he said that women can provoke their own abuse. There was a large backlash from women and viewers. However I kind of agree with him, there were situations in high school where girls would walk up and hit a guy in the face and got away with because they were female. I’m obviously against domestic abuse but I think some of his points were valid and fair in that if woman is attacking you, you have a God-given right to defend yourself. Keyword defend, not attack back. (I think most of it was referring to the Ray Rice situation, which is very different than the Mixon’s.)

    • Zack says:

Well depending on where is contract is with espn he could get the rob Parker treatment and that be his last with the network. But because he’s Stephen A and not rob Parker he will probably be back in a month or so.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Personally I think there is a big difference between clocking a girl you know or are in a relationship with as compared to a stranger on the street. If someone is coming at me like a wolverine, male or female, and I don’t know whether that person is on just alcohol or a combination of that mixed with some type of drug, I’m defending myself and not even considering the sex or size of the attacker.

      • blaster1371 says:

I’m with you. Hostile intent from a stranger is met with my need to defend myself. I’ve broken up enough girl fights at school to know that a pissed off female can fight like a buzz saw.

      • Stephen says:

I think he is correct in what he is trying to say, really didn’t present that we’ll at all. Made him sound one sided, and on the wrong side of the debate.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

I was at dinner tonight and the TV in the bar was showing Fox news. On the news they were discussing the Stephen A. thing and showed clips from a discussion Whoopi Goldberg had on The View. (OK, so I have to say I am NOT a Whoopi Goldberg fan. Beyond her opinions, I met her at the Oscars one year and her hair smelled so bad that I had to excuse myself.)
At any rate, as I was reading the closed caption on the TV, she seemed to be saying that she feels women are at a point that, if they hit a man, they should expect to be hit back. Her view was that nobody should be hitting, and if they did, all bets were off. Now, I may not agree with this, or may not have read the closed caption correctly, but more people with Whoopi’s opinion might be good for Joe’s defense.

I told SuperK I would give him a report on the movie Lucy. The consensus in the bathroom after the movie was, “That was weird”. In my opinion, don’t waste your money.

    • Kevin Moore says:

It was kind of like a mind activated “Matrix” movie. A lot of action and movement, but I agree that it left you going… “Well that was interesting.”

    • Shifty says:

Any movie w Scarlett Johansson has to be worth a look

  • Zack says:

So we will know who the secret visitor is this weekend right?

  • EasTex says:

I don’t know Joe Mixon, never met him and might never. He is a very young man with incredible talent, with opportunities most of us will never know.
But I do know more about life and its challenges than he. The situation he is dealing with is a threshold moment for him, he will never be the same person after this is all over than he was before it happened.
No matter what happens, I wish for nothing but the best life has to offer. He just needs to keep moving forward.

    • rphdenton says:

think he’s the #1 guy with offers out the yazoo but he’s expressed real interest in ou

    • Gary Robbins says:

With Patterson and Buechele that makes 3 qb’s offered for 2016. Early bird gets the worm.

      • Zack says:

Buechele will probably be the first to commit.

        • Gary Robbins says:

This is crazy. The 2014 season hasn’t even started and I’m already worried about 2016 offers. It’s time for bed this recruiting business wears me out and I’m not even a coach.lol

      • Sooner 4Ever says:

True, the early bird does get the worm… but it’s the second mouse that gets the cheese.
