Neville Gallimore: As most of you know by now, 2015 DL Neville Gallimore has been recruited by just about every major program in the country. In fact, he took official visits to three of the four teams that made the playoffs this year in Ohio State, Florida State & Oregon.

We’ve been saying for a while now that our sources close to Gallimore have given us every reason to believe Oklahoma was a major contender right along with Ohio State. Jerry Montgomery has been Gallimore’s primary recruiter and already beat out a number of big time programs when he landed highly touted national recruit, LB Ricky DeBerry.

After talking to a couple sources, we are ready to make the call. Jerry Montgomery will do it again tomorrow. Be sure to tune in for Neville’s announcement during the U.S. Army All-America Game (at noon, on NBC), because we think you’re going to like what you hear!

Justin Reid: Lately we have been receiving questions about where things stand with stud 2015 safety, Justin Reid. We have talked with Reid on a number of occasions and also recently spoken to someone close to him. And it is sounding more and more like despite having an LSU offer, Reid likely won’t end up in Baton Rouge.

He is, as everyone knows, a very intelligent young man and we get the sense that the late offer from LSU doesn’t give him the same level of confidence in where he stands in the eyes of the coaches there (never mind the recent hiring away of their DC, John Chavis). Alternatively, Oklahoma has been aggressively recruiting Reid for a while now and has made him a very clear priority.  In fact, we are being told that it’s likely going to come down to OU and Stanford.

– UPDATE (Fri., 10:21 am): Oklahoma defensive end Charles Tapper has put an end to whatever speculation there may have been about him possibly leaving early. He announced late Friday morning he will be returning for his senior season.

UPDATED (Fri., 11:40 am): With some of the recruiting analysts from other sites predicting Anthony Wheeler will commit to Texas later today, we’ve received multiple requests to follow up on this. We’ve just spoken to one of our recruiting partners in Dallas, who has spoken to someone at Skyline, and this what he has told us:

“Wheeler’s parents want him at Texas, but his (Wheeler’s) relationship with Frank Shannon is the only thing holding it back. However, Wheeler and Shannon had a long talk last night. Either way it looks like this is closer than most thought between OU and Texas.”

When we spoke to Wheeler last week, we got the sense that OU was going to win this one. But it can’t be overlooked that he’s always been interested in Texas, as we’ve also stated on the site numerous time. He’s spent the entire week in Florida with guys like Malik Jefferson, and there is obviously a lot of smoke around Tim Kish’s job security right now. So it wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to put together the puzzle pieces here if this Texas talk has some legs.

As noted above, we are now being told that his parents want him at Texas. So perhaps it’s not a total surprise that things now seem to be trending in that direction late in this process. Also keep in mind that, as we reported recently, Wheeler had told us only two or three weeks ago that OU and Texas were even (see link for that report here).

We’re going to continue checking on this, but that is what we have for now.

UPDATE (Fri., 11:52 am): Just chatted with 2015 Lawton DB Darreyl Patterson. As you’ll recall, we reported recently he had received a qualifying ACT score. Our long time readers will also remember that we mentioned back in the spring we’d been told Bob Stoops really likes him. Well, Darreyl Patterson has finally received his OU offer!

And this is interesting, the offer did not come from either of the DB coaches. The offer was made to Darreyl by Bob Stoops himself. Not sure if that’s just more smoke regarding possible coaching changes or if Stoops just wanted Patterson to know how important he is to the program, but either way found it interesting.

UPDATE (Fri., 12:05 pm): Most you will recall us mentioned Kimball HS (Dallas) DB, Antoine Stephens a while back. Stephens is a 2015 CB who is late on the recruiting scene because he only started playing cornerback this year. But as a 6’2 fast and physical corner he recently started picking up interest from a number of schools. In fact coach Mike Stoops had stopped by to see him back in the fall. Stephens picked up his first offer recently from SMU and the Texas coaches recently came by to see him.

We’ve been told that coach Boulware and coach Bobby Jack Wright reached out to Antoine this morning and asked him to come up to Norman for an official visit. They also let him know that they will be making a decision shortly regarding whether an offer will be extended.

We’re not sure yet what this means because we do know that OU is currently in good shape with Patterson and Kareem Orr. OU is also in good shape with Nate Dalton but we are told he will likely be moved to safety. But there seems to be a lot of movement right now on the DB front.

– UPDATE (Fri., 1:30 pm): Continuing to work this Wheeler/Texas talk and in doing so, we’ve heard back from another source. And, unfortunately, it’s not news you’re going to want to hear. Based on what we continue to be told, this one doesn’t appear as though it’s going to go OU’s way later today when Wheeler officially makes his announcement.

UPDATE (Fri., 3:30 pm): With the news (we are hearing from a source out of the Under Armor All American game and our source in Dallas) about Wheeler now looking more and more like he’s heading to Texas, we figured it would be a good time to let you know that OU has been in touch with Louisiana LB, Dwaine Thomas. In fact, we’ve been told that Thomas has been in contact with OU head coach, Bob Stoops. An offer hasn’t happened just yet, but the head coach doesn’t typically talk to recruits that aren’t under serious consideration for one.

– UPDATE (Fri., 5:05 pm): Anthony Wheeler has committed to Texas.

– UPDATE (Fri., 5:11 pm): Sterling Shepard has also now formally announced he will be returning for his senior season.

– UPDATE (Sat., 10:52 am): OU fans could be getting their good news early today, as Neville Gallimore is scheduled to announce his commitment during the first quarter of today’s US Army All-America Game.

– UPDATE (Sat., 11:23 am): I (Jordan) could be wrong, but I believe there’s a pretty good chance we’re not going to see Gallimore or Ricky DeBerry play in this game today. Both are dealing with injuries and I don’t believe either have taken part in practices this week.

– UPDATE (Sat., 12:33 pm): Neville Gallimore has committed to the University of Oklahoma.

  • Michael Darling says:

Gallimore, Reid and Wheeler would be huge for our D. Where do we stand on recruiting an Offensive Coordinator?

    • BoomerDave says:

No crap! That’s our biggest recruiting need this year.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Gotta wait until after Oregon finishes their game next week.

      • SoonerBredCD says:

I realize this is tongue in cheek. But Frost’s next move is HC. No way he moves laterally from Oregon to Oklahoma.

        • Jake says:

Be lateral in title, but I bet it won’t be lateral in $$$$.

          • SoonerinLondon says:

Believe he makes $400k now, although Knight would surely pay what it takes to keep him if he wants him.

          • blaster1371 says:

That might be a high estimate. I would think it’s closer to 300k. Did you see where the HC got a 25k for winning the rose bowl? Would think it would be double that. I gues the Nike dude spends money on the program but the university doesn’t share the love with the coaching staff.

          • SoonerBredCD says:

You don’t think Oregon, of all places, could match what OU would offer?

          • Jake says:

They could match, but would they? At some point it doesn’t make sense to match or beat an offer.
But I’m not saying this would happen. I was just saying money is a reason to leave even if move is considered a lateral move. I’m sure if Knight wants him to stay, he stays.
But you don’t know until you throw it out there. Maybe Knight doesn’t like him because he wore Adidas at Nebbish. Who knows?

          • SoonerSpock says:

And you think Phil Knight can’t make certain Oregon has the money to meet or double any offer the Sooners make. As long as Frost is at Oregon he is situated to wait for the right Power 5 head coaching job that provide both opportunity for success and big bucks. He gains nothing by moving to Oklahoma as OC.
In fact nationally many may perceive that move as a step down.

        • blaster1371 says:

Having four year starter and stud QB Marioti (sp?) helps Frost tremendously. Frost is certainly good at what he does but make no mistake about it, having the QB that he does certainly add to their success.

        • Steven says:

I’d be okay with stealing OSU’s QB coach or one of Meachem or Cumbie.

      • sracer says:

But Georgia Tech is thru for year!!!

    • Stephen Dale says:

Another site is forecasting Wheeler to TEXAS………………….

    • Jeff says:

      Will probably one get Gallimore

    • Stephen Dale says:

Wheeler going to Texas….Sheffield to Alabama, Settle to VT, Kish on the job recruiting for OU

  • KellyB says:

Reid and Gallimore would certainly ring-in 2015!

As a side note, still amazed what Ohio State did this year with 3 diff quarterbacks, including beating Bama with their 3rd stringer! I’m sure OC Tom Herman will be a hot commodity at the end of the year

  • Dallas Johnson says:

Great News.. It would also be nice to somehow get Murray..

  • BoomerDave says:

Zack or anyone. Did you listen to Cary on the Sports Animal this morning? Did he share anything enlightening?

    • DemSoonerBoyz says:

      Cary never shares anything enlightening

    • Zack says:

He didn’t share much about the culture type issue he was talking about. Actually John shinn may have given more info on the franchise.
Carey did talk about the rumored coaching changes and basically that most of what has been mentioned here from tfb and other posters is pretty close to what is going on. Kish bjw are likely being told to look elsewhere and the boulware rumor may be true.
I don’t know if it was Murdock or shinn that mentioned but apparently the budget for the football is becoming an issue so as much as stoops is being blamed for not finding great guys to bring in, it sounds like the school doesn’t want to pay for top tier assistants.

      • Zack says:

And for bjw it’s more of the move him to merv’s job.

      • paganpink says:

If the budgets an issue, then paying for top tier assistants might be the solution to that problem. Paying intermediate salaries for intermediate talent is short sighted. Have Boren take a pay cut. The “great pumpkin” has more money then he needs anyway. We need a broom brigade to sweep new and talented coaches in here!

      • SoonerinLondon says:

If OU really has the third highest payroll in CFB, we don’t need to raise it to be competitive.

    • Carry mentioned something about bringing in another play caller to “help” Heupel. Also said Norvells return depends on DGBs decision to go pro. But like Zack said, nothing really different than what TFB have already posted.

      • BoomerDave says:

What’s the connection between Norvell and DGB going pro?

        • Jordan Esco says:

Long time relationship btwn the two & the family, which was one of the major factors in him coming to OU in the first place.

  • OUn8v says:

    Thanks for the great news!

  • BoomerDave says:

I only caught the final completion of the UA AA Game Skills Competition last night. Wondering if any else saw it and how did Austin S. do in the kicking and punting competitions.

  • Zack says:

So I’m hoping san Francisco trades eric Reid to Dallas or Kansas City. Then it may be ou all the way

  • cdubs says:

    Great news. Wheeler still OU?

  • DemSoonerBoyz says:

Any truth to Lincoln Riley coming to call plays for us next year? Of course this means Norvell or Josh is gone

    • Jordan Esco says:

I haven’t heard really anything in the way of names for possible replacements, other than pure speculation that is. That’s a name I could be convinced to liking, but his system doesn’t really fit what OU is doing or the kids they currently have on campus, IMO. More similar to what they ran w/ Bradford & Jones I believe.

      • Chris White says:

From what I’ve heard they are trying to get someone to call plays but not really be an OC?

    • Stephen W Hembree says:

bill blankenship as the next OC

    • Indy_sooner says:

He would be a good hire. I like the scheme ECU run.

  • Stephen W Hembree says:

rumor on some social media sites saying big news @ 2 this afternoon does anyone have a clue what this might be coaching changes be announced maybe

    • Daddy R says:

BJW announcing retirement? Wouldnt necessarily call that big, but…

      • Super K says:

BJW isn’t retiring. He may take a different position inside the athletic department but we are quite confident he won’t be retiring.

    • Zack says:

The sports animal has been talking about a big announcement but it’s likely that dvoracek is joining their station which everyone kind of knows about.

    • Jordan Esco says:

I’m aware of a big announcement at 2pm on the radio, specifically the Sports Animal. Who will be officially announcing the addition of Dusty Dvoracek to their station, but that’s been out now for a couple days.

  • Indy_sooner says:

Wheeler is supposed to be announcing today if I am not wrong. Any feelers on him?

    • Jordan Esco says:

No different than what we’ve been saying for a while now, still expecting OU to be the pick.

  • vargo05 says:

Hey Braniacs, have you guys heard anything about Harbaugh contacting Bedenbaugh? A bit of chatter on this in Ann Arbor

  • Indy_sooner says:

Excellent news! Super K, outside the noted rawness, how does Gallimore compare to the likes of K.McKenzie, Daylon Mack and Fehoko?
I remember TFB doing a comparo a while back but I think Gallimore has made giant leaps since

    • Super K says:

Athletically, Gallimore takes a back seat to no one…NO ONE! 🙂 It would be hard to imagine him not developing into an excellent DL as long as coach Montgomery is his teacher.

  • Fear The Magic says:

Just saw Justin Reids profile. When you said that hes “a very intelligent young man” you werent kidding. Amongst other offers he has them from Harvard, Princeton and Yale. Very impressive.

    • red clay says:

the poisoned ivy league is no place to send a bright young mind . . .

      • Steven says:

Then send me instead. Those schools are literally some of the best in the world.

        • red clay says:

correction . . . used to be . . . might take a closer look . . . see the 1999 book “Poisoned Ivy” by Ben Hart . . . just one of many of its kind . . . at least if a kid is forewarned he/she might block the punches from the faculty and staff

  • Mr. Jones says:

Heard Wheeler has done well at the UA practices. Anyone else hear this? Any other updates on Wariboko, DeBerry or Gallimore at their practices?

  • BigJoeBrown says:

I know I sound pessemistic but, IMO…I don’t think it matters who we bring in a quarterback, I just want to see some development/advancement. I didn’t think Trevor Knight, Cody Thomas, Kendall Thompson or Blake Bell were bad quarterbacks when we signed them but they never seemed to come to fruition.

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

No, you are absolutely right. Blake Bell was the number 1 quarterback. TK was a 4 star guy. Kendall Thompson was the most athletic and should have been more ready than the rest.

    • Soonergmc says:

Some even considered Cody Thomas to be on of the best QB’s coming out of Texas the year we got him. He had monster numbers in High School against top competition.

      • turn2 says:

Was never a fan of Cody’s, especially when I heard he wanted to play baseball. Skill position players need spring and summer together and baseball players need summer and fall to get better. JMO

    • red clay says:

      Josh Heupel.

      BOB FIRE JOSH ALREADY!!!!

  • Randy White says:

Did Tapper just tweet he’s declaring for the draft?

  • SamSooner says:

Charles Tapper is one of my favorite players on this team. He embodies everything you want in a person with great character and OU.

    • Won says:

      True Sooner
      BOOMER!

    • SoonerBred says:

Great news on Tap and you’re right about being a fantastic young man. Thrilled he’s coming back to help make the Sooner D better in 15

    • Indy_sooner says:

Never maximized his potential. That seems like the story of 2014… Incredible talent, poor execution and handicapping our best playerplain hope we unleash the fury this year…such a shame

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

    Boomer!

  • Mike Reed says:

After yesterday’s games, I wonder how things would have played out during the BCS era if there would have been a playoff. Using the BCS rankings, it would’ve been FSU vs. Alabama for the championship, but with the new system both of them get beat to give us Oregon vs. Ohio St. With that, how would’ve TCU faired in an 8 team playoff? Makes for some good off season talk.

    • turn2 says:

I think the CFP committee nailed the final 4. Big 12 leadership has us on outside looking in

      • red clay says:

        huh?
        Big XII has leadership?

        when’d that happen? . . . what did I miss?

        • Won says:

Exactly what the Big 12 leadership said

          • red clay says:

yep, I’d thought with DeLoss Dodds retired the Big XII could act like a conference instead of a serf of the lords at the texsa AD office.
Instead the Big XII office invented new ways to shoot itself in foot.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

Don’t know if the committee got it right, but the Big XII is a dead man walking, IMHO.

        • Daddy R says:

agreed. sure is crappy when our best teams are named Baylor and TCU. I’m sure recruits (and coaches for that matter) get ALL pumped up to play the likes of TCU and Baylor year in and year out, especially if we’re gonna lose to them..

          • paganpink says:

Crappy or not those two teams can play with anyone they chose for the final four. I think T.C.U. might well have won the national championship if they had been given the chance.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

Crazy to think, there is room for improvement but it’s definately better than what it once was.

      • Daddy R says:

And forever I thought 8-team playoff was way to go, but now I am seeing the merit of keeping it at 4. I like that its “hard” to get into playoff. 8 teams would most likely put a two loss team in, and I’m not sure that would be too good for the sport overall.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

IMO TCU is easily one of the top 3 teams in the country. And I’m not just saying that now that Bama and FSU lost – I said it before as well. Honestly….to me they look as good or better than any team in the country. I really do believe they could potentially beat Oregon or OSU. I have little sympathy for Baylor with their addiction to creampuff OOC games. But TCU beat a good Minnesota team by a substantially larger margin than did OSU. IMO that is probably more significant than the selection committee seemed to think it was.

      • boomersooner says:

Bama, and the entire sec for that matter, was hugely overrated this yr. Makes you wonder about all the crap during the bcs. All the moving down 2-4 spots when you lose and moving up 7-15 spots when you win showed nothing this yr. Good for them for taking advantage of the built in bias but how easy is it to have someone make it out of that conference?
FSU was garbage all yr but had just enough to beat everybody by a couple. Then they ran into a very good team who’s pretty good at not beating themselves.
You nailed it on TCU. They’ve proved they deserved to be there and now ESPN could probly use them to expand the playoffs when they actually just want 2 or 3 sec teams in

  • Dustin Brasel says:

Is Kyler Murray’s new interest possibly related to DGB staying? Speculating is fun!

    • Billy says:

Stop it. You are making me giddy.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

If Murray were to choose OU, it’d be because Kyle Allen will be the starter at aTm for at least 2 more years, he could start day 1 at OU…It’s not happening though

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

If Murray were to choose OU, it’d be because Kyle Allen will be the starter at aTm for at least 2 more years, he could start day 1 at OU…It’s not happening though

    • Spartacus says:

      NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

  • JR says:

Is Murray able to enroll at semester or does he have to wait until summer?

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Funny thing about Norvell, he knows how to coach talent that is already
apparent and developed but he is awful if the players need coaching up!
Once Green Beckham leaves then what? We need to cut Norvell loose, then
find a great WR coach who can recruit. Then Get Beckham to Stay for
another year while developing the WR’s we have here already. Say Goodbye
to Norvell and think about the big picture…!

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

I guess Scoop is vibing that Wheeler is picking Texas..?

    • Jordan Esco says:

Something happened. They were about ready to call it for OU just this morning. Maybe what we’re all expecting to happen w/ Kish pushed him to UT. I know there have been a bunch of reports from UA practices that the other Texas commits have been hounding him to pick the Horns. Playing up OU getting blown out by Clemson, as though they weren’t also embarrassed by Arky.

      • Jeremy Phillips says:

        On to McGinnis & McKee..

        • hushnpa says:

as well as Thomas and Smith .. all of whom are better LB’s by all accounts .. and just possible that is why Wheeler would flip

      • Jeremy Phillips says:

That’s why I found the timing of these rumors intersting, with so many targets still deciding…

      • Mr. Jones says:

So you definitely think he’s going Texas now?

        • Jordan Esco says:

I can’t really say. I don’t have the info Josh does. I just know how confident he was in OU earlier today and has now flipped. Josh is very good at what he does, and I don’t believe he’d have done what he did if he wasn’t confident in what he has.

      • Fear The Magic says:

Crazy the thought that a kid could be intensely recruited by coaches for over a year including in home visits, daily calls etc etc etc and it can all be blown by hanging out with a few commits from another school for a day or two.Not saying it will happen in this case but Im sure that it often does.

      • Zack says:

If wheeler basically “flipped” as in ou was his leader going into this week, then I would think ou can still get him if they hire the right guy to replace kish.

      • SamSooner says:

Stay the course. If you let the noise get to you, and there will always be noise in life, it will cause you to lose your focus.

I have a good feeling about OU in 2015 and 2016.

      • Mr. Jones says:

Hopefully Wheeler doesn’t let himself be swayed in the moment. In an ESPN article, he said he sat down with family and made the decision a few weeks ago. Also said he talks to Stoops and Frank Shannon weekly.

        • RBear says:

Another take is that he could have just told the whorn recruits something along those lines just to shut them up.

      • SamSooner says:

Woody Hayes, the legendary tOSU head coach, was fond of saying he was Notre Dames greatest recruiter. If he didn’t believe he could land a recruit, he steered them to Notre Dame so that they wouldn’t go to Michigan.

This could be a ploy by the texsa commits: they really don’t care that he comes to texsa or if he plays a down: they don’t want OU to get him.

  • PLAW0720 says:

Crazy play-off thought. I think 8 teams in the college play-offs are too many. Instead, go to a 6 team playoff. Take all P5 conference champions plus one at large. The top 2 seeded teams get a bi-week into the semi final round. The other four teams play the wild card game in mid- December after finals. This way the regular season matters and everyone has a shot.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

I don’t like the playoff because it worries me that the season will become as irrelevant as the NFL season, therefore expanding it makes the worry even worse.

Having said that, and assuming the playoff is here to stay, I say:
      1. Reduce the regular season by 1 game
      2. Go to 6 fourteen team conferences
      3. Each conference has two divisions and the winners of each play in a CCG
      4. The 6 conference winners of the CCGs get bids to the tournament
      5. Two at large bids are offered by a committee

    • Daddy R says:

I agree that 8 is too many. I like your scenario… Except I would bill it and advertise it as a “play-in” to the final for, rather than top two get a bye (Bye’s sound less fair, even though its the same thing! lol).

    • Clint Lenard says:

You realize that this means SEC teams will sneak in just like they did in BCS, right? ESPN will do their best to rank them as the 1 and 2 seeds. This wouldn’t work well, IMO.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Not sure why 8 would be too many. I tend to think 8 should be the bare minimum. Just my opinion anyway.

  • Mr. Jones says:

Will there be any effect on the Josh Smith recruitment if Kish is let go before NSD?

  • turn2 says:

Josh M on SS has changed his prediction on Wheeler to UT

  • Jeff says:

If Jay leave for Texass, hire Tim Brewster!

    • AmaGoh7 says:

This. I’ve felt this way since Brewster was Mack’s ace recruiters in Tejas for years.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Let’s not forget, we’re dealing with 17 and 18 year old kids, and this decision is a little bigger than “Who am I going to take to prom”. So, be patient because their families are involved during the recruiting process and with their decision(s) as well.

  • OU Boomer says:

Can you really blame the kid(Wheeler)? Who would you rather play defense for right now, OU or Texas? I hate the longhorns as much as anyone on here, but would caution any defensive recruit that is considering playing for Mike Stoops. The guy is completely disconnected. He turned a decent group of kids into mental cases this year on the field. As the season progressed, we got worse and worse. That is on coaching.

    • Daddy R says:

Not saying you’re wrong about Mike, but could also be that we just don’t have that good of players to coach. Maybe our players this year were just too much hype? Which of course, no coach is going to say he doesnt have good players..

    • SamSooner says:

Boomer, I can see how you got to that conclusion. But have you watched any of the top tier teams play defense. Hardly anyone is stopping anyone. Did you see what Oregon did to FSU. Talk about varsity playing JV. That won’t affect recruiting for FSU.

      • Easton says:

Reflection time. The results pour in, this among the best conclusions after this College Football season.

    • Daddy R says:

And no, cant blame Wheeler, but we sure as hell can blame texsa, and kick the crap out of them!

    • ellisbr says:

his recruiters were Kish and Boulware. Does this mean that Boulware to Texas is a done deal or that Kish is definitely out? or both?

    • Hotrod33 says:

If his parents want him at texas that could be the deciding factor. To me I would think he would have a great chance at starting here next year instead of texass. The one thing I’ve learned over the years the kids that grew up in texas and love the university will go there no matter what. It’s a shame that they get blinded by that ugly ass orange.

    • Super Keith says:

It’s deeper than that. You could also ask how a kid could choose to pick Texas, given their recent lack of success. Competitive kids think they can make a difference, so recent performance isn’t always a major factor in a kid’s decision. Look at Kahlil Haughton, after the bowl game, he tweeted something to the affect of “don’t worry, help is on the way”.

If performance really affected recruiting that much, Texas would never have landed the classes they did over the past 4 or 5 years.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Excellant rundown. Tenn has had a top ten class two years running and they sucked. But I want to point out that Rivals has the OU class at 3.59 average this is currently 8th best.

        • Super Keith says:

There’s no question that recruiting is trending up. We just need the coaches in place to develop those players, and I think we’re heading that direction.

  • bmrsnr says:

Apparently Sunderland is one of the DB stand outs in Semper Fi. Couple int’s during one on ones.

  • kt-raida says:

    I like Tappers statement!

  • Will Narramore says:

If we lose out on Wheeler do you think we make another LB offer? Maybe Dwaine Thomas

    • Zack says:

I would go after a lot of the guys we said “we’re still reviewing your film”

    • Jordan Esco says:

I don’t see how they couldn’t. They need at least 3-4 LBs in this class, IMO. And they’re currently sitting at just one w/ it being very, very late in the process.

  • Zack says:

So patterson finally got the offer? What does that mean for Orr and dalton?

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Glad to hear about Tapper……seems like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. Would have liked to see Philips stay too, but at this point one player is not going to make the difference for this team anyway. Hoping like hell our coaching staff problems get sorted out…..that is the issue that should take precedence right now.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

Any idea on which way Patterson is leaning?

  • Mark slavin says:

For what it’s worth wheeler is still favoring my Ou tweets

    • Easton says:

      You’re awesome.

    • Michael Darling says:

Grown men are hinging their mood on the tweets of 18 year olds…what has this world coming to? 🙂

      • Mark slavin says:

Not hinging nothing on anything just stating a fact.I hope he comes to Ou but if he doesn’t I’m not going to harp on it.

      • paganpink says:

No kidding. Aside from following Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift of course to see if they will accept my offer to come and visit me, I don’t follow the youngsters much! And yes, I’m aware I need prophylactics if it’s Miley that accepts the invite! Geez. Not like I’m not realistic about stuff.

  • Chris White says:

OU is getting Josh Wariboko. Just wait on it

  • Steve Cooke says:

From some of the rumors I’ve heard Bob is personally taking over the DB’s.

    • Jordan Esco says:

I wouldn’t expect that to continue full time. Too many responsibilities elsewhere as the HC.

      • Daddy R says:

He could always hire someone to take over the “HC” responsibilities he would be missing! lol

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Hire a secondary coach, not BJW. Saban coaches the secondary, too.

  • Brian Glenn says:

I wonder perhaps that Wariboko was all set to decide on UCLA today and then after spending a week with Kyler Murray decided to delay his commitment and now both are coming to Norman. Wariboko blocking for Murray has a nice sound to it.

    • vargo05 says:

Don’t think that’s the case. He was set to decide but there was a mistake and there isn’t time for him to announce his decision at the game today. So he’s putting it off. Strictly communication error

    • Zack says:

That’s not the case at all. He wanted to announce on tv but the broadcast just wanted him to announce and they would run his name across the screen.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

what does that last update say about Boulware and BJW’s status with OU..??? that would lead me to believe both are staying… BJW could stay and take an administrative position… but this update would suggest maybe the smoke of Boulware to Texas is just bunk…

  • Michael Darling says:

Sucks about Wheeler. What about Cassius Peat and/or John Houston?

  • Kevin says:

One thing I noticed in the Sugar Bowl last night was that Bama’s DBs didn’t always do that shuffle slide thing that seems to be the thing. A shift back to the old techniques?

  • Jdizzle says:

I think it is ironic, the fact that Kish potentially leaving could be what swings Wheeler to Texas.

    • Jordan Esco says:

I don’t believe that would be the case, fwiw.

      • Jdizzle says:

It may not be. But it was a point of contention in the update. He was very willing to leave Texas for OU, but it seems like with the recent news of Kish potentially leaving, that the Texas confidence is rising. Could be me speculating again. I meant no disrespect.

    • turn2 says:

I am not sure what all the excitement could be in Austin. Last time I checked, they had a losing record. Their QB play is horrible and they will lose best player at every level of D (if Malcom declares). I would be surprised if Murray went to UT to play in Shawn Watson’s O (Ask Nebraska fans what they think of him as an OC). Certainly don’t want to lose Wheeler but if we do, oh well…

  • Austin says:

Several of the 247 guys have switched their predictions from ou to texas, including Demetric Warren. As it sits now: Ou-56%, Texas:39%

    • Tom Turman says:

Gotta look at the trend though. It’s trending Texas. It’s likely that’s where he goes if mom and dad want him there.

      • Austin says:

I know. It sucks that all this time ou has been considered the favorite and now just a few hrs away from his commitment it looks like he will most likely end up a longhorn.

  • wubear says:

    Is Mbanasor gone?

  • Kevin says:

How is it that Texas fires 2 coaches and suddenly a bunch of recruits are switching to Texas, yet with the hopefully likelihood that at least 1 or more coaches at OU are going to be fired or leaving, recruits are less interested at OU?

  • cdubs says:

It’s only a matter of time before the Dwaine Thomas offer goes out.

  • blaster1371 says:

    Dear young Wheeler,
Do not go to Texass. Come to OU.

  • Hotrod33 says:

Is it too late to have Montgomery talk to him and his family. He could seal the deal for us.

  • blaster1371 says:

If wheeler does go to Texass then who does OU stand to get at linebacker?

    • Jordan Esco says:

they’d have to seriously reassess things. I’d have to believe one of their first calls w/b to Dwaine Thomas. then really ramp things up w/ Josh Smith, something, IMO, that should have already been done.

      • Glocal Sooner says:

So not feeling good about McKee or McGinnis?

        • Jordan Esco says:

hard to get a good read on either, but they’re both right there w/ the other two I mentioned.

      • Mr. Jones says:

Smith seems like a guy we could have a real chance of flipping. Apparently he’s been shining at the Army AA practices.

  • Zack says:

Someone should remind these kids of the education they will receive at texsa.

  • turn2 says:

    Jordan,

I have read what you said below about Patterson and OU being hard to beat if they offered. Couple of questions regarding Patterson:
    1. With ASU being heavily involved, do you still pick OU to win his commitemet?

    2. How do rank Patterson vs. other OU DB commits this year?

    thanks is advance

  • bjwalker82 says:

    Sucks about Wheeler

  • Stephen Dale says:

wonder how OU stands with Arthur McGinnis, josh smith, and any other decent LB’s ???? for that matter , any news about any other QB offers ???

  • Jordan Esco says:

Another Wheeler update added…./ducks and runs

  • Herman Bubbert says:

Considering the condition of the program, I don’t expect to win all of them.

    • JB says:

With the current state of the program, I expect to win very few and hope that I’m pleasantly surprised.

  • Mizuno44 says:

    Kish my Grits!!

  • Wilson says:

Oh well..that is how the recruiting cookie crumbles…let’s hope some other young man see this as an opportunity to show out…

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Freakin Kish. Wheeler not coming? One LB in this class?

  • Wilson says:

If Kish does get let go…hopefully the new LB coach has his teenage fan club that will follow him over…

  • Dallas Johnson says:

Well with Wheeler off the board who else do we have that is a possibility that can compliment DeBerry?

  • SamSooner says:

All is well that ends well.

  • ellisbr says:

if Monty keeps bringing in the DL recruits and we keep missing out on LBs we’re going to need to start playing a 6-1-4 D….lol

  • Mr. Jones says:

I liked Stephens’ film but I’m confused as to how many db’s OU plan’s to take. Feels like they’re either shooting for 10 or know they’ve lost out on all the others.

  • Sooner Ray says:

If Wheeler wants to go to that hippie school, wear that gawd awful gear and take an ass beating in Dallas, best of luck to him.

  • soonerjunky says:

Any chance OU offers or lands Chandler Garret out of Mustang, OK? He is a 6’4″ Pocket Passer and he is class of 2016

    • Zack says:

The only way I see him getting an offer is if Murray flips to ou. If not then ou is looking at guys that are rated higher than Garrett in 2016

  • SoonerFan11 says:

Crap. That sux about wheeler. Would have liked to have him. Also, coach Stoops seems to be alot closer to the recruits this year. Hmm…..

  • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

OU needs a proper secondary coach.

Because OU has kinda drop back passers/runners, perhaps OU could double Scott Frost’s salary and hire him. Perhaps that will slow his head coaching aspirations.

  • Mizuno44 says:

I’m sure McConaughey has something to do with the Wheeler flip, got to be the Lincoln commercials that aired throughout the playoff games yesterday. NOT, alright, alright, alright, you two bit actor who is not really that cool!

  • SamSooner says:

I wish Wheeler the best of luck. I understand the extreme pressure he’s under. There are a lot of things the young man will have to stress over in life, this should not be one of them. This should be a happy moment for him. I don’t want to rob him of that.

Anthony, if you’re reading this: good luck to you.

    • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Also, if you’re reading this: All OU fans are dumbfounded as to why Kish said, “I’ll try to come by another day.”

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

True. He’ll get a good education, a chance at the pros, make lifetime friends, and go 1-3 against OU.

  • ellisbr says:

247 sports is now predicting OU in the lead for Wheeler

  • Hotrod33 says:

At this point, wherever this kids wants to go I wish him the best of luck except for the day we play that school in Asstin.

  • Spartacus says:

Kish in his final act as LB coach, just went full Kish on us. I imagine he’s gone by Monday.

    • connie usa says:

How do you know that Wheeler wasn’t already told that Kish was gone. and that’s a reason why he’s probably UT bound?

      • boomersooner says:

He’s one of the ones here that can see there future well enough to prognosticate and pontificate on it. I count my lucky stars each and every day for those fortunate enough to share with us their abilities

  • Sam Philbeck says:

Just checked 247sports and their crystal ball just to see the lead for Wheeler flip to Texas’ side, but actually the odds have gone up rrom 56% to 61% in favor of OU since I last checked this morning and a guy actually just predicted OU gets it. FWIW

    • Fear The Magic says:

Forget it.. Not falling for it.
Im not getting my hopes up again lol

      • Sam Philbeck says:

I understand completely and I really haven’t either. Ever since the news broke I’ve been basically on a let’s just move attitude. But I thought it was interesting enough

  • Dustin Brasel says:

    so…no announcements on coaching changes?

    • Glocal Sooner says:

I got the impression from Jordan over the last couple of days that something was happening. Guess not…

    • Jordan Esco says:

We’re not going to publicly speculate on what may or may not be done. Your talking about someone’s career and obviously these guys all have families. We’re trying to show some respect, and I suppose restraint, for that by withholding, for now, what we’ve heard.

When the time comes and we’re comfortable reporting what we know, we will do so. But until then we’re not just going to throw guys’ names out there publicly out of respect for the parties involved.

I understand that’s probably going to make some of you upset as you want to know what we know. And I don’t blame you. But we would only ask that you try and see things from our perspective if at all possible and the difficult it would put everyone involved in the situation in if we just haphazardly starting throwing stuff out there.

      • ellisbr says:

total respect for that. that’s one of the things that make this site so great, you guys do things in such a professional manner. we appreciate all the info you all bring to us.

      • paganpink says:

Exactly right and the only responsible way to cover it.

      • Glocal Sooner says:

Completely agree with how you guys handle things. That’s why we’re here. I was thinking you had some new the other day and an announcement was coming but I guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Utmost respect for that, Thats why I get my news here

    • DCinAZ says:

I’m expecting absolutely underwhelming changes. I dunno why people are so on edge waiting for the news.

  • ellisbr says:

come back Jordan! give the 411 on why 247 is now saying OU again. anything more you can verify or is it still doom and gloom on the Wheeler front?

    • Jordan Esco says:

I couldn’t really say. I don’t know who is doing it or if those are even updated predictions. Other than Dem Warren, I put very little weight into any of those “predictions” over there.

      • Fear The Magic says:

Yep…probably those at 247 who are now predicting OU are only just now reading yesterdays TFB threads.

  • Zack says:

So what time does the bomb detonate? So we can be done with this wheeler story. He’s a guy I want to land but he’s not deberry or even gallimore or mbanasor as far as quality.

    • Glocal Sooner says:

He’s announcing out of the 2nd break in the 3rd quarter from what I’ve heard. I don’t know exactly what time that will be.

      • Fear The Magic says:

The bad thing about this is that watching the game before he announces I dont know whether to hope that he looks great or awful.

    • Mr. Jones says:

If we were gonna miss out on someone this weekend, I’d definitely rather it be Wheeler as opposed to Gallimore.

  • Matt says:

You guys should be looking at this up-and-comer for your OC position.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2316211-meet-lincoln-riley-fast-rising-mastermind-of-east-carolinas-high-octane-attack

As a Longhorn fan, I’d hate to see this guy end-up there but it’d be great for our conference.

  • Dustin says:

Dude didn’t want any part of Austin on that return 😉

  • Sooner Ray says:

I normally don’t watch these games, hope this isn’t a waste of time.

  • Mr. Jones says:

How about USC going into Texas and getting two running backs. Jones has looked solid so far.

  • DCinAZ says:

    Kyler Murray is faaaaaaaaast.

  • RBear says:

Are the lean years upon us?

  • Stephen W Hembree says:

just a guess but believe that patterson will be a sooner along with wheeler * galilimore

  • Sooner Ray says:

Murray would be a good fit, he’s getting used to receivers dropping balls 🙂

  • SamSooner says:

    I think it’s interesting they didn’t say he’s verbally committed to A&M.

  • SCKSChief says:

Murray can move. That kid is fast. Seemed to do nice things with keeping his eyes downfield while moving around. Really needs to secure that ball though…

  • Zack says:

I would be more than happy to have thomas and McGinnis out of weezyana. Was the last linebacker we had from LA, rufus?

    • Mr. Jones says:

Give only one, who would you take?

      • hOUligan says:

Me, I like McGinnis best of any LB I’ve watched on tape other than Jefferson. DeBerry played a lot with his hand down last year so it’s harder to tell. Josh Smith is not too far behind, then Thomas IMHO.

      • Zack says:

I think I would take McGinnis over thomas. But it’s close, I think thomas is an ILB and I think there’s others out there that are similar. Griffin from seffner and david long are guys I would like at ilb

  • Sooner Ray says:

Of course the QB that looks impressive is a bama commit.

  • RBear says:

TFB: Who does Dwaine Thomas currently hold offers from?

  • connie usa says:

I love when there is a “new” update.
I just prefer good news. Bad news sucks.

  • SCKSChief says:

Wow. That “Top Recruiting Classes” graphic is depressing.

  • RBear says:

How would team highlighter do vs OU?

  • Dustin says:

Is Austin’s last name pronounced SY-bert? I’ve been pronouncing it SEE-bert the whole time.

  • SCKSChief says:

Seibert is kicking well. He’s an OU commit, no?

  • RBear says:

SIAP, how many announcements today are actually considering OU?

  • SCKSChief says:

    This game is an ass-whippin.

  • lebval15 says:

Rivals has Thomas as a 2 star without any Power 5 offers. Is that the same guy?

  • SCKSChief says:

Anyone know what the deal is with Murray? Is he making some kind of announcement or is it just “wait and see on NSD”?

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

When OU hires Scott Frost he’ll make the flip official…If only I could make this happen

      • SCKSChief says:

Stop teasing, man! For the record, I’d love Lincoln Riley also.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

Yeah, I just want to see some sort of plan put into place.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

Lincoln Riley, another Spread guy? Like the pirate’s teams all pizazz and no substance, no real running game either! Get one of Urban Meyers offensive guys and make him your off.coord if you have too…!

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

This UA game is just another ESPN-SEC love fest. Talking SEC all the time

    • SCKSChief says:

Did you notice in one of the games last night the announcer made the statement (paraphrasing), “People talk about ESPN having an SEC bias…” Anyone else hear that?

      • Brent says:

I just remember the line “OU got routed by Florida” in the national championship game. SMH.

        • SCKSChief says:

Those rat bastards. They sure loved to talk about those Heisman/Heisman beatings OU took.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I am sick of OU being talked about only in negative terms, “bowl losses,” “decommits” etc…We need to turn this around THIS YEAR!

          • RBear says:

It’s the Stoops stigma IMO- he’s not well-liked by the media and they use it against him.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

            Yeah you’re right.

          • SCKSChief says:

That and his product hasn’t done him many favors. Not exactly setting the world on fire when things actually matter as of late.

          • RBear says:

True but his reputation preceded the decline and you have to wonder if his lack of tact, so to speak, will prove to be an integral part that fall; he’s just not a media darling.

Makes me wonder if espn would fall all over him if he were coaching in the vaunted sec?!

          • soonerbred4ever says:

Bob, Mike, Pelini and the whole youngstown coaching tree are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

          • RBear says:

I think they’re probably genuine, caring guys who love their players and are great with recruits and their families but their image, the one outlets like espn puts out there, is a perception that is just as important as reality unfortunately. Developing soft skills ain’t easy but it sure pays dividends.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Lot of Whining going on in here..no?

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yeah. I’m whining. This is a year round occupation since we haven’t won a Big 12 title for two years now.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Longer than that for me…I don’t count ties with little kitty kat…Now if were head to head with traditional teams I’d tolerate a tie…

          • RBear says:

constructive criticism by fans with a vested interest

      • James D-Space says:

        Yeah, I caught that too.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      Yeah I noticed that too.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Really sucks that OU isn’t appealing to more of these guys. Perhaps Sat and Sun’s games will be an improvement.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Is it possible to get McKee if Wheeler goes to whorns?

  • Dustin says:

Brilliant move by SECPN to put a camera guy on the field

  • SCKSChief says:

Think I’m gonna switch to the Tennessee game. I’ll keep this up for updates.

  • SCKSChief says:

Oh my. How did Iowa even make a bowl? Tennessee is destroying them. 35-7 at half.

  • SCKSChief says:

If I was an Iowa fan (ugh, just threw up in my mouth a little) I would be PISSED that Ferentz had yet to be canned. He’s making some serious coin, no?

  • Dustin says:

That other kicker for Armour needs to hit the showers

  • Ed Cotter says:

So we are out for Barnett? They just showed him on the UA game and it showed Okla St. and Nebraska under the schools he is considering. Wow!

  • KellyB says:

How is it KSU (#11) and UCLA (#14) are playing in the Cactus Bowl?!?

    • DCinAZ says:

Outside of the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl, I haven’t really understood any of the bowl matchups.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

All you need to understand is that there are about 30 more than needed.

        • blaster1371 says:

nawwww….cant have too many CFB games.

        • akryan says:

Why? I don’t get why anyone is against more college football being played. What I like the most about bowl season is that it gives me a chance to watch a lot of mid-major teams that I don’t necessarily pay attention too during the regular season.

          • blaster1371 says:

And most of the time those game prove to be rather exciting. I found it hilarious that my Dad, an OU alum, was hooping and hollering when Memphis played BYU.

      • paganpink says:

Alabama doesn’t do well in sugar bowls lately. I noticed that, LOL.

    • Allen P says:

Umm they aren’t playing in the Cactus Bowl they are playing in the Alamo, osu and Washington are in the Cactus bowl

    • ruasoonerfan2 says:

      Washington-OSU Catus Bowl
      KSU-UCLA Alamo Bowl

    • KellyB says:

      My bad. Thanks guys

  • hOUligan says:

I’m no recruiting guru but when I watch the film, I like Dwaine Thomas better than Wheeler. Several others have the same feeling here and some who have watched Wheeler in person. This is not to say which will be better on the field in a couple of years, but Thomas has some game, too. Would not disappointment in the least to get Thomas.

    • ruasoonerfan2 says:

      Alamo Bowl

    • blaster1371 says:

I watched the Wheeler video on NEWSok last night. Ive seen it before. He seems to do well finding the ball but he doesn’t exactly knife through the gaps and make the tackle. I have not seen any tape on Thomas.

I think OU will see improvement at the linebacker position when they recruit HS linebackers instead of recruiting safeties and DEs, like our current starters, and converting them into linebackers. IMO linebacker is similar to RB in that the good ones have developed an “feel” for the position and react to keys without much thought.

      • hOUligan says:

For me, the jury is still out on Kish as Mike has tinkered with the D for 3 years including the infamous Orlando (4-0-7 defense). Getting talented hs LBs, as you said, and putting them in positions to make plays will make a huge difference.

  • CastorTroyBoy says:

Guys Oklahoma is down, media smells blood, Other teams Smell blood when they play us and last but not least, coaches now see us in turmoil and there letting potential recruits know “Hey you sure you want to sign with OU? They have this problem, that problem, rest assured guys like Urban Meyer will negative recruit the shet out of us just to get a player. There is going to be alot of negative recruiting going on until this program figures out what they stand for? There is no ‘motto” or “decree” that makes us stand out. Also, too many top recruits that did not show up these over the last 5 yrs…It’s really depressing how much talent these guys have left on the field. When you get a chance to perform U have show out! Last year was the first time I ever saw an Oklahoma Team make big plays in a bowl game. I’m not the occasional interception return, I’m talking about Big plays on offense vs, a revered opponent! Until we start doing things on the field that excite recruits we are going to continue to get beat by the Baylors, probably texas next season. If I’m a recruit I’m wondering what the hell has happened to the “Oklahoma that my dad used to talk about”!

    • blaster1371 says:

“Last year was the first time I ever saw an Oklahoma Team make big plays in a bowl game ”

When did you start watching OU football?

      • connie usa says:

Seriously. OU has SEVEN National Championships. I’m guessing that they made quite a few big plays.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

And whose going to remember that Connie. Were not talking about Koolaid drinking fans of a team. Were talking about recruits from west coast tho the east! All they usually ever see is OU being thrashed on television….I guess most of U have never been a recruit…

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Players want to play and not ride pine. So, a recruit may see OU as a chance to play as a freshmen.

          • blaster1371 says:

Why do you have to call life-long fans of OU or those who are try to emphasize the positive elements of the program “kool aid” drinkers?

Your self-professed knowledge of college football, OU, and what high school kids think is growing tiresome. You sometimes bring good stuff to the table of discussion but lose it all when you start insulting people’s fondness of the program and confidence in Bob Stoops.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Blaster I want what you want. Probably moreso…Now I may be wrong but I’m not much on being philosophical after seasons like this. We have had to many seasons like this as of late. I’m not expecting ou to be undefeated! I am expecting us to have enough of a game plan that gives are team the things it needs to be competitive for 4 quarters…Blaster that clemson game, we were not competitors…

          • connie usa says:

I never was a recruit, but my husband was (baseball).
No matter the sport, OU has a national brand. They might not be great every year in all sports, but the OU name makes kids look.

          • blaster1371 says:

Which is supported by what I have read from fans of other programs that post on Crimson and Cream Machine before and after they have played OU.

          • connie usa says:

Do you not think tradition helps in recruiting?

          • OkieRandolph says:

Connie, I’m not gonna blast you, but I will comment. I’m 63, and have been an OU’er since I was 6. OU is a national brand, BUT times have changed my thinking, as I used to think as you do now. Traditions and national brands mean nothing. Today, kids see what’s happening as of last week, or at best last season. And being champs in 2000 was when the kids we want now were THREE years old. You gotta have coaches that can sell ice cubes to Eskimo’s and we have a staff that for the last 4 years couldn’t give ice to folks in H E double L. I hate saying that, but that’s the facts. Our guys are being out worked. PLAIN and SIMPLE. And the coaching on the field isn’t any better.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Okie Randolph, you remember the Oklahoma from the 70’s and 80’s I see….We should talk.

          • connie usa says:

Okie. I do NOT disagree with you. I understand that kids aren’t looking for past success, I just believe that tradition does get our coaches “in the door”. They might not seal the deal, BUT we do get consideration.
And I’m a 1985 OU Grad, so I have been around a while.

          • OkieRandolph says:

Connie, I’m a recruiting nut,(I wish I’d not be) and the worse thing about “getting your foot in the door”, AND not getting the player, is that you spend SOOOOO….. much time, money and resources on the player it kills you on other kids. So getting your foot in the door is really a curse UNLESS you win. It would be better to come in 50th than 2nd. Sounds awful, I know but let’s just look at today for instance. We (OU coaches not me) spend a lot of time on Wheeler and now we come in 2nd. Well, we now are scrambling for a 2nd tier guy to take his place. If you get your foot in the door and the kid puts you on hold (hostage) for 6 months til late Dec, Jan or Feb then you are taking a big chance. I’d tell them here’s your offer. I need to know by Nov 15 or WE ARE MOVING ON! That’s plenty of time for 1st tier kids to make up their minds, as they’ve been offered for MONTHS!!!!

          • connie usa says:

Okie. I’m with you when you say, “I need to know by Nov 15 or WE ARE MOVING ON!” It seems like Texas (at least, under Brown), did this and had their class filled months before NSD. I’d prefer OU not to be scrambling this close to NSD, but it seems like this is the pattern under Stoops.
PS: I do appreciate all your comments.

          • OkieRandolph says:

Thanks Connie. 99% of the fans on TFB site are great Sooner fans. I don’t like myself being negative with our bunch but we are starting to look a lot like the ut 5 years ago with either our ability to develop the kids we get OR we are over evaluating them AND being out worked for recruits. Baylor hurt them as did TCU (we were always a player against them) then when aTm went to the SEC they got 1st tier guys ut would normally get. If our staff doesn’t realize the similarities, they too will be “retired”.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

It helps but you cannot go into homes or to a recruit on a visit and say ” see were oklahoma”…We have to promote guaranteed playing time which can backfire when that player or players(All our frosh Wr’s) are not ready to make a big contribution. I’m not referring to the “occasional 10 yard out”..

      • CastorTroyBoy says:

Depends on what you call big plays? I don’t consider big plays a 5 yard run versus fsu in a 13-2 game a big play on offense. If it was a 60 yrd run by griffin that would be different!

        • blaster1371 says:

Questions still stands, when did you start watching OU football?

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Does not matter when I was viewing the wishbone offense and I saw number 6 at QB. I’m not the one being recruited. I’m also not the one u should be asking. Get on facebook talk to recruits in their sophmore year..Find out what is important to them? Those Guys on the east coast and west coast are rarely ever going to see oklahoma in a good light unless they are shining on that field. Our recruiting is so fractured and disorganized…guys like Saban and Urban Meyer already know they are rarely if ever going to lose a recruit to Bob Stoops….

          • blaster1371 says:

Ever heard of a guy named Perine?

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Does one running back doing well but playing and his team being embarrassed by clemson excite some running back in the southeast? Maybe… By the way running back is the least of our problems. What they remember is Heisman winner after Heisman winner having poor games in games that mattered..! These guys are not seeing Ou as the cool school. Until that changes we will win 9-10 every so often But the Big games and big recruits will 9-10 times be selecting someone else…

          • ruasoonerfan2 says:

            Go away troll

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

please stop talking to me…I would never initiate a convo with you…

          • blaster1371 says:

If HS kids are as short sighted as you claim they are then they have no clue who played in or won the national title game in 2009. Most schools have a regional draw and bring in SOME players from distant locations. Even when that happens there tends be some family ties to that school or region. EVERY school is going to experience losing out on a big name because of the limits on scholarships per year. Sure Alabama gets the pick of the litter as does USC in the LA regions and now Florida State in that state. OU has experienced an uptick in recruiting.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

No but they have ESPN to remind them yearly of Lsu, USC, Boise, WV, Here’s…. Johnny! And now “the redemptions of Brent”…

          • Austin says:

Oh yeah because Ou was really the “cool school” in the late 90’s when they recruited the athletes that would eventually win a national championship in 2000.

          • paganpink says:

I hope to God you’re not talking to them! “We completely suck, forever, but come to Oklahoma” doesn’t usually work.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Pagan not at all…But if you want to know what these kids are thinking you better know what makes them tick and coordinate your recruiting to highlight it.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Naw save it Bubba…You can keep your web click…I’m trying to have an educated convo…If you want to resort to being a smart azz we’ll get nowhere..

          • RBear says:

Too late, you’ve already made yourself irrelevant without anyone else’s help, Bubba!

          • blaster1371 says:

I you think you just disqualified yourself from this board

          • blaster1371 says:

I would think the college coaches are a heck of a lot more in tune with the mindset of recruits than you give them credit for. I bet every recruit that signs with OU is interviewed by an OU coach or recruiting coordinator about what appealed to them, factored in their decision or was least impressive and so on.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

true blaster. I’m not referring to those we signed I’m talking to the ones we let get away…”We get who were supposed to get” may be sounded by some coaches. I can tell you there are coaches at Penn State, Tennessee, Auburn, etc.. that don’t hold that as being true…

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Right now this is years in he making. Guys like Saban, Meyer have had sophisticated recruiting systems put in place for years. Yes being at florida and louisiana help you. Yet you have to have a system of recruiting in place to attract the guys these coaches are attracting! It cannot be a “hodge Podge” of things here nor there…I’m not there but Bama’s and Urban Meyer have given us an all-access to the way they go about their inner workings

          • Austin says:

Ricky Deberry? He held offers from both ohio state and Alabama. And urban is gonna lose another one to ou tomorrow when gallimore commits.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Austin did it ever occur to you that this program needs Gallimore more than he needs us?? Urbans not going to go all out for a recruit unless he feels he needs them. Our coaches have made Gallimore a priority. I don’t think u can say the same for Saban & Meyer..

          • hOUligan says:

Do you actually follow or claim allegiance to any team or are you simply a full-time troll?

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Houligan are you a “sunshine pumpers” over on scout.com perhaps? The name sounds familiar….If you were then I’d probably not like to start convo with folks that I have verbal spats with in the past..no offense…

          • hOUligan says:

Simple question. What, if any team, do you have an allegiance to? Troy = USC.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Not to me it don’t, don’t worry about some handle dude..That is the 100 least of our problems. Lets worry about finding answers to the malaise of a program that we are currently witnessing!

          • hOUligan says:

Still evading a very simple question that a true Sooner fan could and would answer very simply and very quickly. You have revealed yourself as nothing but a troll, and an illiterate one at that. I will trouble you nor engage you further as you are simply a troll with zero Fred.

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

            LOL…

        • SoonerfanTU says:

So we shut out FSU in a NC game, and there weren’t any big defensive plays?

          Stop being a clown.

        • Austin says:

So hollieway to Jackson in the 85 orange bowl wasn’t a big play?

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Look, bad year. But the national media thought OU had enough talent to rank them 4th going into 2014. Some changes along with a good recruiting class will remedy the situation.

      • blaster1371 says:

Same thing happened a few years back when the media, including ESPn, picked USC to win it all and they finished unranked. It would be hard to find any media types that picked tOSU and Oregon to be in the final game.

    • Tucker says:

You must be a big John Hoover fan

  • turn2 says:

Question for anybody who may know; Rodney Anderson, I RB commit from Katy Texas and ranked in top 100 by rivals. Why is he not playing in any of these high school All American games this weekend?

  • SoonerFan11 says:

Maybe he directly in contact because kish is going to get canned.

  • Dustin says:

Bad throw by Murray. Don’t want anymore. 😉

  • akryan says:

Okay, I just got back from vacation and I purposely didn’t watch or get any updates on the OU game while I was gone. So, this morning I looked at all the recaps and comments. Yikes. The one thing I was really surprised at though looking at the stats was that Shepard only had 1 catch. What went on there?

  • RBear says:

    Sensing a Wheeler announcement in a moment…

  • Ed Cotter says:

Wheeler’s decision coming up pretty quick.

  • lebval15 says:

    Texas

    • hOUligan says:

Get on the phone to Thomas and McGinnis right now.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Kish to Thomas and McGinnis, “I’ll see if I can call sometime this month.”

        • hOUligan says:

I wouldn’t mind hearing that Kish isn’t making any more calls or visits. That Monty has taken over his recruiting responsibilities.

  • akryan says:

    bummer

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Kish.

  • Tom Turman says:

    Wheeler just committed to Texas

  • Mr. Jones says:

    On to Gallimore…

  • Dustin says:

I bet he can whistle one hell of a tune.

    • connie usa says:

      This made me laugh.

    • OkieRandolph says:

Well, he’ll be able to save money on dental floss if he has any ski rope. We lose him for texas where they’ve got LB’s stacked like chord wood. And we have O N E!!! If this isn’t proof that Kish needs to go to J C Penny’s and be the shoe salesman, then there is NO proof.

  • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Well we mostly knew that was going to happen.

    • blaster1371 says:

      Thanks for the link.

Thomas is much more impressive than Wheeler. Thomas knifes through to the ball carrier, has a good rip technique and gets off blocks well. Has a hell of a punch too, he knocked several blockers back.

  • SamSooner says:

that young man does not look happy. Shame on his parents for putting that kind of pressure on the kid.

    • Austin says:

He sure didn’t, he also didn’t elaborate very much on why he chose texas.

    • AlvinMack55 says:

I hope the coaches stay on him after the dead period. He could be a potential candidate to flip on or near NSD.

  • ellisbr says:

we can still flip him once we get a new LB coach and have him get on the phone with this guy. it ain’t over yet. I’m not trying to make fun of him, but are we sure he has the grades for OU? sounded a little….slow…

    • Mizuno44 says:

Probably the most inappropriate comment I’ve ever read on this sight, congratulations.

    • SamSooner says:

Exactly what made you think the kid doesn’t have the grades to attend OU? What gave that away? Please explain yourself.

  • paganpink says:

Struggled even opening a duffel bag. I guess we’ll just have to run right over his “rangy” hide next year!

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Didn’t exactly come across as “bright”.

      • paganpink says:

        No, he did not.

      • kt-raida says:

not cool. Shouldn’t take shots at kids.

        • Easton says:

          Thats right.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

Meh. If posters can say a kid isn’t a good football player, I can say he doesn’t sound all that smart. Zero difference, and we know the football judging certainly goes on, right?

          • kt-raida says:

It’s a difference between saying he’s not that good and personally attacking the kid/ Its about having class and knowing when to draw the line when criticizing children just because they didnt pick the school you wanted them to. But hey to each his own, it’s still tacky.

    • Ed Cotter says:

Probably pretty nervous being on TV for the decision, especially if he wasn’t too happy about selecting Texas.

      • SamSooner says:

Looks like he was pressured to me. I’ve dealt with that before in my life: we were struggling. My mom and dad divorced. My senior year was coming up and I was asked, then told I had to drop out of high school. I had the choice taken away from me. I know what it feels like and I know the look.

  • Mr. Jones says:

LB group for Texass looking stout.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Damn, I hate losing to Texas, in anything.

    • hOUligan says:

It’s a whole new year and texass STILL sucks. In a changing world, some things never change.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Did anyone just see the Ohio St/Oregon ESPN commercial and the playbook? LMAO

  • connie usa says:

In a world were lots of young’uns only go for the $$, Shep is a breath of fresh air.

    • Super Keith says:

I love Shep (he’s my favorite Sooner), but money didn’t really have much to do with things. He probably wouldn’t have been drafted this year, and certainly not in a high enough round to guarantee any real money. His best bet was to come back and put out an excellent season for next year’s draft.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

    Had zero doubts about Shepard.

  • Will Narramore says:

Out of the LB recruits we’re still going after ( Mcginnis, Mckee, Smith, Thomas) who are we looking at as OLB and who as ILB?

    • Zack says:

I think the better question is which safety prospects are we switching to linebackers.

      • Will Narramore says:

I wouldn’t mind moving Ahmad Thomas down to LB. He’s already a pretty big safety and he likes to hit. He may not be the best in coverage if you’re looking at him as a safety but for a linebacker I’m sure his cover skills would be looked upon more favorably.. I think with Sunderland Parker and Haughton the safety position is in good hands

  • Brad Warren says:

Of course Wheeler switched to ut. If we led on him for so long wtf happened?

    • ruasoonerfan2 says:

      Family pressure maybe

    • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Kish: “I’ll try to come by another day.”

      That’s what happened.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Uh, Kish did make it back. With other coaches. Kish maybe leaving is more of a factor than anything he did wrong.

        • RBear says:

Sounds like it was a lot of ut recruits at the under armor game along with his folks wanting him to be a horn.

        • blaster1371 says:

Do you thing Kish leaving would cause a recruit to rethink OU as in the reason he was coming to OU was because Kish would be his coach? Or, are you referring to the uncertainty of any coaching change being a factor?

          • SoonerfanTU says:

Probably more the uncertainty, but if the kid was close to committing, he was obviously comfortable with Kish being his coach.

        • Easton says:

This shows how much we know. Our perspective is limited, not wrong, just limited.

      • connie usa says:

Maybe OU has told recruits that Kish is being replaced.

    • AmaGoh7 says:

I read some weren’t even that high on the kid.

  • Tim A says:

Agree – should be a happy time and he looked pretty low key.

  • bjwalker82 says:

Having a guy like Kish is like having scholarship restrictions..

  • Dustin Brasel says:

Wariboko is looking ok. Haven’t paid much attention to Barnett

    • bjwalker82 says:

What happened with Barnett? Why isn’t he still considering OU?

      • Tucker says:

Word on the block sounds more like we’re no longer considering Barnett. I heard he got exposed.

      • j l says:

We told him we were full at his position. he waited too long. Also, as tucker mentions below, he didnt develop this year.

  • ellisbr says:

great news on Shepard…never really doubted he’d be back but still good to have the conformation.

  • Defend Colfax says:

Some of you guys should be ashamed. Just because a kid doesn’t commit to your favorite school doesn’t mean he’s an idiot. Just means he has bad taste.

  • HoustonChiver says:

Good luck to Anthony wheeler attempting to block or running back core… if he ever see the field at a school notorious for ruining talent.

  • John Garner says:

Great news about Shep. Hope DGB does the same.

  • Stephen says:

I know some of you guys asked to keep you updated on my dad. He had surgery and we just got the good news that everything went well. He’ll be on a vent for a couple days but that is common for his condition. Overall things are much better. He’ll be having one more surgery to stitch some things up and should be out of the hospital in a couple weeks. Thanks for everyone’s support on here. You guys are the best OU football community even if we don’t get along all the time.

As for Wheeler, I just now got caught up. He’s a miss, would have been a good grab in my opinion but let’s go get Dwaine Thomas! Boomer!

    • hOUligan says:

Glad to hear the news about your dad. Prayers still going up for his continued recovery.

    • connie usa says:

      The prayers are working!!!!
      Keep us updated.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

      Happy to hear that!

    • Billy says:

What was the surgery? Glad to hear.

      • Stephen says:

They aren’t sure what the intially caused it but it was dignosed as pancratitis or whatever the correct spelling is. It caused him to go into shock and filled his abdomen to fill with fluid. The surgery was to relieve the pressure in the abdomen so he can breathe as well as remove the fluid caused by shock. Not sure what the procedure was called but that describes it I think.

        • Super Keith says:

Hang in there, it’s going to be a rough ride for the next little while. My mom had the exact same thing, and was in the hospital for months. The Pancreas doesn’t take kindly to getting messed with, and it takes a while to calm down. In the end, she did well and everything worked out great. I’m sure the same will happen with your pops. Thoughts and prayers coming you way.

        • Billy says:

          Thanks for sharing.

    • Hotrod33 says:

That is good news. We’ll continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers and get that last surgery finished so he can make a speedy recovery.

    • SamSooner says:

Stephen, that’s good news. My wife is an RN. If you need an explanation or clarification on what the doctors are saying, let me know. My wife will be happy to explain what the doctor is saying.

    • EasTex says:

      Good news.
      Y’all hang tough.

    • Ed Cotter says:

Good news there Stephen. Praying for his full and speedy recovery. Sooner!

    • Phil Counts says:

      Good news Stephen, God bless.

    • Kevin Fielder says:

Glad your Dad is better….praying for successful recovery.

  • sooner44 says:

not a trekkie but it seemed appropriate….

  • bmrsnr says:

So whats up at DB? Do we have guys transferring out or are we gonna recruit big CB’s and turn them to safeties?

  • Hotrod33 says:

To me and I don’t know about the rest of you. if I was the coach at OU, my first priority is to get the local talent here and texass and then I would spread out to a select few players in other areas of the US to make my roster. They know the true meaning of being a Sooner and the dedication it takes to win. I’m not saying these other kids don’t like playing but when you go against rival schools they know the importance of it.
Wish Wheeler the best but I think he is a follower more than a leader. If you have kids in your ear putting pressure on you to go to that school then your not really putting much into your choice.

  • akryan says:

    KSU not looking good

    • Easton says:

Flat, ‘do not want it’ – bowl illness.

      • akryan says:

Don’t know all about that. Maybe a little, but you gotta give credit where it’s due. UCLA is playing really well. That was a hell of ZR right there.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I’m kinda digging UCLA’s little pass option game.

  • Jeff says:

Jordan – Two questions: 1) can TFB do a story on LB realistic options at this point? And 2) if the uncertainty in the program begins to spiral what would it take IYO for DeBerry to de-commit?

  • Guest says:

What about 20 16 ‘ s Shane Buchele? How does he stack up? Seems as if it’d come down to OU & Standard

  • WilliamJack says:

Wheeler commits to Texas, hate that. The lack of information regarding potential Coaching changes one way or another cannot be good for recruiting. This silence and dithering isn’t conducive to success. If Coach Bob thinks there’s nothing wrong and these Coaches are “my guys”, Fine. Just please find some direction and let the world of potential recruits know.
Conversely, if a head or 2 is going to roll, do it for the same reasons. The 2015 season is under way and there are still 2015 holes to be filled at OU.

    • Deake says:

I couldn’t agree more. The silence is deafening!
Here’s to hoping there is a grand plan in place.

    • CastorTroyBoy says:

We all know Stoops does everything “his way”. We know he never is going to fire someone in the media. It would be announced during the latter part of the recruiting period ending. Other coaches will not hesitate but Stoops for better or worse, does it the Stoops way….

  • Felix Fuentes says:

What about 2016’s Shane Buchele, how does he stack up? Seems like it’d come down to OU & Standard

  • SCKSChief says:

Yuck. KState looking a lot like OU.

  • Jeff says:

Big XII living up to the media negative hype……….

    • SCKSChief says:

      Looking less than stellar.

    • connie usa says:

The SEC has looked just so unbeatable.
I think TCU (yep, of the BIG12), would beat anyone in the SEC.

      • Jeff says:

I agree but I’ve never bought into the hype anyways. Stoops was right it’s all propaganda.

      • akryan says:

A conference can’t hang it’s hat on one or two bowl wins. The big ones matter more than the small ones, but you’d still like to see an overall winning record in bowl games. OU, Texas, and Baylor all losing hurts. If KSU falls too, then the post-season goes from bad to terrible.

  • akryan says:

Well, that’s something anyway. KSU hasn’t shown much of ability to make a stop though.

  • Steven says:

Thank god for Alexander, Evans and Striker because if they weren’t here then we would have barely any LBs.

I thought possible coaching changes were going to come after Bob evaluated the situation? How long does it take him to look at those final 5 games and that collapse?

    • ccmosaic says:

Well they seem to have trouble making game time adjustments so I imagine this coaching situation could take a while.

    • akryan says:

Major changes aren’t coming. Stoops is too close to his OC and DC. They won’t go until he does.

    • EasTex says:

He operates on a different schedule than observers.
The people he is dealing with aren’t like bubble gum trading cards, they are real people with families.
I’m confident there will be changes, that they will happen at the designated time and place, and by the people responsible for them.

      • Steven says:

I see what you’re saying, but it’s still a business and we’re already seeing the best coaching talent getting taken.

Fact is that every coach knows how rough the business is, and their it’s in their best interest to hit the job market ASAP if they want to get a job.

I understand with close ties to those you’re removing you want to be delicate, but that’s the consequence of only hiring your friends.

        • EasTex says:

Coaches are gypsies by nature. Every year we see the carousel spin them from coast to coast, but that is usually their choice.
Just wait, there isn’t anything you can do about it. Only worry about what you have control over.
We aren’t privy to what is going on behind closed doors, for all we know there may be coaches Stoops want that still have games to play or just finished playing or ongoing negotiations.

  • Jeff says:

With 30 days or so until NSD, what are OUs realistic options at LB?

    • ccmosaic says:

      poor

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Hard to believe there aren’t any JUCO’s that could help. After watching Bama, and even OSU on D yesterday, and yes I know the results weren’t great, we have got to get bigger/stronger/tougher at ILB. Was hoping Wheeler could help, but is there not a big JUCO stud we could grab? Getting Shannon back, assuming we do, should help too.

      • EasTex says:

I may be the only one, but I am not bothered by the Wheeler announcement. OU needs playmakers, not a space saver. I watched Wheeler in the state semi-final and he was lazy, wouldn’t hustle to the ball unless it was in his immediate vicinity and showed no emotion…in a semi-final game.
Good luck to the young man. Physically impressive, but he has no heart for the game.

        • CastorTroyBoy says:

I wonder if some other people playing for us have any Heart also…?? Sing it with me people…!” I never ever did give a nothin’ to the tin man…..that he didn’t or shouldn’t already have….real talk!

        • Wilson says:

Will have to go with your eyes on judgement. I’ve never seen the kid in the thick of the moment.

          • EasTex says:

I was astonished with his lack of heart and hustle. Gifted athletically and surrounded with other gifted athletes and he spent most of the game being a spectator.

          • Wilson says:

It is important to see how kids play against equal or better competition. That is why I sometimes favor those kids who have been told, they are not the best and are long shots. They seem to play hard all the time and don’t take opportunities for granted.

        • eastoksooner says:

I remember you saying that when it happened so it didn’t bother me at all he flipped. We need talented guys with heart and desire. Guys who put it ALL out there, like you said a “playmaker”

  • Jeff says:

I mean, I like Monty’s tweet, and if he singlehandedly save the 2015 recruiting class with Dlineman and LBs how unreal would that be?

  • albsooner says:

Gents – chill out! As coach says- patience.

You panick and sound like a bunch of crazy women. Settle – they will right the ship.

You end up creating more hysteria than necessary and ultimately create a self fulfilling prophecy. The sky is not falling!

    • CDC says:

Self fulfilling prophecy is the exact right way to put it. I see Sooner fans on here saying things like “If I were a recruit I would leave”, and I think they must secretly be an OK State fan because it is just a really bad idea to make public comments that could hurt your own team.

    • Steven says:

The sky isn’t falling but only having 1 LB commit since 2013 is not acceptable. At some point you have to demand the Oklahoma standard and right now we have coaches who clearly are up to that standard and others who aren’t.

All I want is getting all coaching spots up to the levels of JM, Bedenbaugh, and Gundy. Where Norvell and Heupel (as a QB coach) used to be.

      • Clint Lenard says:

1 LB commit? I can think of Bond, Bolton, Evans, DeBerry off the top of my head…

Maybe you meant “1 LB commit since 2014” and tried to be funny?

        • Steven says:

They all committed before like November 2013. The point is that recently the only player we’ve convinced to play LB for OU is Deberry.

    • Jeff says:

The sky is not falling?! That’s what Custer said. What alternate universe are you residing in? It’s 30 or so days away from NSD and the OU football program has one four star LB committed. And you don’t see any issues? As Brian B. And Paul M. Told me “LB play at OU has been mediocre at best the past few years”.

      • Steve Johns says:

Last years LB class had Curtis Bolton, Tay Evans and Cade Parker

      • EasTex says:

It has been clearly expressed here that the lack of LB commits is a concern.
That does not require panic and hand wringing from fans.

        • SoonerfanTU says:

Yep. The same people freaking out now, are probably the ones that nearly broke the internet with Chip Ambres committed to somebody other than OU (aTm I think). I learned a lot about “people” that day.

          • EasTex says:

            Chip who?

          • SoonerfanTU says:

Option QB recruited during the Blake years. Was suppose to save our program. Never seen an OU recruit followed more closely. Kid ended up being a bust.

          • EasTex says:

Good thing they didn’t have the interwebs when Jack Mildren was being recruited. The NORK hackers would have had their brains fried.

          • Easton says:

Drew Mildren was pretty good too.

          • Jeff says:

Yea we were the type of individuals working for various governmental agencies warning about 911 to upper leadership but were ignored. Keep being that sunshine pumper.

          • EasTex says:

            “Keep being that sunshine pumper.”
There it is, I knew you had that self-adoring know-it-all attitude wanting to get out.

    • EasTex says:

      Hear-Hear!!

    • Easton says:

      Indeed! Indeed.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      It fell.

Just joking. OU will get the players they need.

  • Jeff says:

Can’t believe the Sooners lost to KSU at home………

  • DCinAZ says:

Interesting that Bedenbaugh, Monty, and Viney are all tweeting at the moment.

  • Sooner Ray says:

They should fire Snyder at half time, he’s been bringing that program down for years. 😮

  • Indy_sooner says:

Kish has been a disappointment. Ever since TFB mentioned the so-so in home handling, I lost faith in this man. I wanted to give him the benefit, but by far the biggest recruiting flop on the staff. Time to our losses

  • Easton says:

    Lets go K State.

    • Easton says:

Note: Pac 12 has the best bowl record so far. SEC West: top five teams have lost.

        • EasTex says:

Did you see Briles and Petty at the post game interview?
          Priceless.

          • Hotrod33 says:

No I didn’t. What happened? I might have to go to youtube to see it.

          • EasTex says:

            Hang on…

          • Easton says:

            sweet

          • Hotrod33 says:

            Ok. Can’t wait.

          • EasTex says:

I tried, watched entirely too many BU videos, but they don’t have the post game press conference. Let me just say, there are those who think Bob Stoops is surly, Briles epitomizes it while looking like he needed chemical assistance. Petty was surly and puffed up.

          • Hotrod33 says:

It couldn’t happen to a better team. I think the best thing is when MSU blocked the kick and as they were running it back the decleated the kicker. I keep watching it over and over. Hilarious!

          • EasTex says:

            LOL!
The second best part after he got blasted was him just rolling over on his side and putting his head on the ground.
I saw a tweet of his where he said “I’m alive” and “My Mom said I would never get hit kicking.”

          • Hotrod33 says:

Yea, He looked like he was drunk and he slowly went down. That was one hellva of block too. I never saw the tweet since I’m not on twitter. That is funny. At least he has a sense of humor.

Any truth to the rumors we may be getting E. Carolina’s OC? If so I’m gonna watch that game tomorrow.

  • AlvinMack55 says:

Bummer news about Wheeler today. If the coaches can get McGinnis to campus for a visit and eventually land his signature, I think OU will have landed the better ILB of the two. I’m not saying Wheeler is bad. He’s want you want physically in a LB and just needs to work on technique. I also like how McGinnis calls himself Hulk. I like that type of confidence/swagger in an inside linebacker.

I like how Monty sent out that tweet to subtly try to calm Sooner Nation down after the bummer news. I think he knows he’s got an ace in the hole in Gallimore (As do TFB). Here’s to hoping that it happens!

  • Wilson says:

    Must be recruiting season…..

  • Peabody Thekat says:

wooo…I see ‘bama had 14 recruits in the Underwear game.

    • Easton says:

Doesn’t mean Championships are forthcoming. That is proven now. But it is really great for Bama.

      • connie usa says:

What can Saban use as an excuse now? Last year, it was that his team was disinterested after losing to Auburn.

  • Daddy R says:

Let’s go K-State! I had an inkling that Snyder’s team wouldnt quit..

  • Easton says:

Well, Ill be up for the nightcap. Bowl Season has come to a close.

  • Sooner Ray says:

That looked like a bad leg injury.

  • Easton says:

UCLA. Gross, bad, dirty. The end.

  • Easton says:

How about those Kansas State fans.

    • EasTex says:

Who trashed the field, I was on the puter and had my back turned.

      • Easton says:

Its just good. Fans are good, players are good, coach is good. As in good people. Thats what shows in this game.

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Hey TFB, My wife has handed me the Honey Do list. But I’m thinking about watching the American Bowl first. Will it be a waste of time? Is Gallimore going with us?

  • Easton says:

    Onside kick of all time.

    • EasTex says:

Just when I think I have seen it all the kicker proves me wrong.

      • RBear says:

Grew up a Boise St fan

      • connie usa says:

He looked like he was doing that Irish Riverdance thingy….

      • Zack says:

I’ve never seen that before in a game but just a few weeks ago I was out kicking the ball around with my son and I remember that kick being something my team and I had to practice in soccer. And I was thinking man that might be a good way to fool an onsides attempt.

        • EasTex says:

          Looked like a soccer move.

          • Zack says:

I’m surprised there’s not even more trickery in the kicking game. If your kicker can put the ball in a place where the kick team has even a 30% shot at getting the ball, imo is worth the 25 yards you may sacrifice.

          • EasTex says:

The Pulaski coach has adopted an unusual approach to kickoffs as well.
About 75 percent of the time, he uses an onside kick instead of a
standard kickoff. To illustrate why, Kelley again relies on numbers.

If his team does not recover the onside kick, the opponent likely will
field the kick around its own 47-yard line. On a typical kickoff, the
other team usually starts around the 33-yard line.

“You’re only giving up 14 yards,” Kelley said. “And you get a chance to get the ball.”

          • Zack says:

Is this the guy who doesn’t punt?

          • EasTex says:

            Yep.

  • RBear says:

    Hey, look! It’s Halloween!

  • Wilson says:

One thing about the Puke OCs they are a creative bunch..

  • Katyboomer says:

Wish OSU would fire Gundy. Sounds like something they would do.

  • SamSooner says:

I think Jim Mora showed his true colors during the half-hearted handshake with Bill Snyder. How can you treat a legend that way?

    • Katyboomer says:

      Missed it started watching Osu

    • EasTex says:

      Didn’t see it either.

    • OkieRandolph says:

Well, I like Snyder as a coach too, but……that was a BS timeout he called after UCLA took a knee on 2nd down with 37 seconds left and K-St only had 1 timeout left. NOBODY at any level uses that timeout. NOBODY with any class that is.

      • OkieRandolph says:

Will also add that Mora clapped his support as long as ANY of the K-st fans when the K-St kid hurt his leg with about 2 min left and was being carted off the field. So give him credit as quick as you say he has no class for a handshake to a guy that just showed NONE.

        • SCKSChief says:

Why not make them snap it one more time? I saw Phillip Rivers fumble one of those versus Kansas City once. Take nothing for granted. Mora showed he is classless. Classless is the LAST thing anyone can EVER call Snyder.

          • OkieRandolph says:

Found this about this very same “classless” incident a couple years ago about Greg Schiano when he was coaching Tampa Bay. “His coaching style created controversy. He instructed his defense to create a scrum even when teams were in victory formation. He notably had an incident with Tom Coughlin where the New York Giants coach said “You don’t do that”. He was fired soon after the incident” I saw the thing we’re discussing on espn just a few minutes ago, and it looks like Mora was mad because of the jumping over the line and landing on the QB when he got the snap and was taking a knee. We’ll just disagree. I think it’s wrong and you don’t. As long as our Sooners get some dang recruits, we’ll both be happier!!!

          • CastorTroyBoy says:

Get your facts straight mate, Greg was not fired because of this, He was fired because they had a losing season. The game you referred to happened back in early september 2012? He was not fired until the the next season in 2013. He lost his first 8 games his second year and his team went 4-12. Here a Link for anyone interested

            Link: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/11/04/nfl-greg-schiano-year-off/#

      • j l says:

If it was a 2 score game youd have a point, but it was a 5 point game. They can always mishandle the snap. Why not give yourself an extra chance to win?

I think it was the giants or eagles that once won a game because of a botched take a knee attempt.

games not over till its over.

        • SCKSChief says:

Read my response below. San Diego lost at KC when all they needed to do was kneel and then kick a chippy FG. Fumbled the snap, KC won.

        • OkieRandolph says:

I’m older than dirt so I remember the game you were talking about. It was Joe Piscarcik for the Eagles. BUT….he took the snap AND was handing off to the running back. Yeah, there’s a chance, but the time out was still classless, as UCLA had already come out on the field and were shaking hands. Synder’s an ass. I have heard and read over the last 20 years he’s just that to work for. BUT…. he is a good coach.

          • SCKSChief says:

Agree to disagree, I guess. You will never convince me that timeout was “classless” in a 5 point game.

          • OkieRandolph says:

Yeah, we’ll just have to disagree. One last comment and we’ll go back to talking about our beloved Sooners…. You’ll watch a 100 games or more before you see a team with not enough timeouts to stop a clock before a change of possession and the losing team use them. It’s just a courtesy way of ending things. Even scuzball Saban did it this year against Ol Miss I think or Miss St.

          • j l says:

I can see your point, honestly haven’t heard the same about snyder, but then again I didn’t pay much attention to him till the last few years.

Mora knows snyder is an old school coach, he should expect him to take any chance he can to win. Keep your team on the sidelines till there’s no longer a need to snap the ball.

  • EasTex says:

Y’all be excellent to each other.
I sense the entering of the Sandman.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Pat Allen decommitted from Georgia.. He going Tennessee or do we have a shot…?

    • AlvinMack55 says:

I think that Tennessee is the heavy favorite. This de-commitment comes at the heels of Tennessee winning big in their bowl game and their “We’re the next big thing” hype train taking off.

  • JD says:

Well it is sorta refreshing that DGB hasn’t immediately declared…there must be a little faith in our passing game inside the program

    • Daddy R says:

IF we can have DGB and Shep on the field all year next year, and Mixon swinging out of backfield, the passing game will look amazing next to our running game…

However, I’m not sure the delay means anything other than feeling out his draft grade all the way first… My guess, if he’s projected 3rd round or lower he stays, if he’s a 1st or 2nd rounder, he goes.

  • SCKSChief says:

Is Okie Light gonna cough up a huge lead, a la Baylor?

  • Stephen says:

Watching the Wash/Ostate game and realizing Washington’s jerseys are the same as OU alternate design just white and purple.

    • Easton says:

Yeah. I noticed that all year. Our alternates aren’t that special, we got lower cut work on the whole deal.

      • Stephen says:

No Oregon treatment for us. Helmets were nice though.

        • Easton says:

          Helmets were nice.

        • Easton says:

Phil Knight chooses his own top five through what he has power over.

        • SCKSChief says:

Oklahoma has no real commitment to the alternates. Why would they go upscale?

          • Easton says:

Right. The right way is to pay for upgrades, to the base uniform. Small and subtle, fine tunings, and some forward new flash.

        • JD says:

          Helmets weren’t nike

          • Easton says:

Yeah, but Nike contracts that helmet work out I think.

          • SCKSChief says:

Hold the rights to the designs and the helmets companies just create them?

          • Easton says:

That would be my guess. Under Armours first year carrying Notre Dame, the helmets have a new sheen, and surface to them. I think the uniform company designs and makes it happen through a different company.

          • JD says:

I don’t know about any of that but I know the helmets are Ridell so Nike didn’t make the helmets…you would think the ADept would have a little say in the design work of what they were paying for

          • Easton says:

Oh no question on the Athl Dept. Ridell probably has a software that converts designs into helmet material. Still, the whole uniform is designed, in conjunction with the buyer, by Nike.

          • JD says:

curious if there are other schools with the wood grain on their helmets since that was our motto this year

          • Easton says:

That, I believe, is an original helmet gear.

          • SCKSChief says:

I think the team failed to realize that WE were supposed to do the wood bringing…not vice versa.

          • Stephen says:

OU use a combination of Riddell and Schutt helmets. The design is either by Nike or a third party contractor. See above for a better explanation.

          • Stephen says:

Nike plans the initial design then contracts the job to Hydro Graphics Inc. That or gives them the concept and they run with it but they are designed by Nike in the end.

        • eastoksooner says:

Oregon probably gets special treatment. If I made jerseys as many different styles as they buy I’d give them special treatment too. It also doesn’t hurt that their biggest booster is a higher-up at Nike

      • Easton says:

Give us something that is actually original. Also, the typeface on the alternates is alot like WVU, another comparison to a program below OU.

  • SCKSChief says:

If they uphold this pick, the replay official should be fired.

  • Tyler says:

Does anyone know where we stand on Arthur Mcginnis? I still like him, Josh Smith, and Dwaine Thomas. Just not confident in our linebacker recruiting

    • Glocal Sooner says:

Hey Tyler, Jordan has said that we can’t get a good read on McGinnis or McKee but they are both still in the mix. We haven’t offered Dwaine Thomas yet but Bob has been talking to him. I believe Josh Smith has committed to Tennessee.

      • Zack says:

I would say McGinnis is a no unless we land a visit in when the dead period is up. I think that’s the first guy we need to visit when the coaches are allowed in home visits.
As far as McKee, I may be reading too much into this but it seems like we backed off and ou was still his favorite when he wanted to announce.

      • Kelly Gurbcock says:

I don’t want to be that guy, but Thomas’ offer list isn’t great. Why is that?

        • Glocal Sooner says:

I would like to think Bob’s ability to independently evaluate players and find guys that no one else is finding is still there. Optimistically his offer list is a result of that. Pessimistically, we’re having trouble landing anyone better so our LB hopes have fallen all the way to him. Realistically, I think he’s been a bit overlooked by many big schools as they’ve gone after the big name 4-5 star guys.

      • Tyler says:

        Thanks man!

    • Zack says:

There’s guys out there who can fit but at this point with only a month left til NSD, I wouldn’t get your hopes up that they end up landing a big time linebacker. I do think wheeler could be flipped but we would have to sell him on a good linebacker coach replacement.

      • Tyler says:

I really like Dwaine Thomas and hope we get him, but we need some bigger LBs too. I’m curious to see how much the weight room with benefit Thomas as he is already quick and athletic

  • SCKSChief says:

What a horrid DPI call right there. Ick.

  • Easton says:

Alright, Big 12 gets two bowls. I’m calling this one early.

  • Stephen Dale says:

THank Goodness BGB is on the trail of more 2** talent…Kish botched the Wheeler recruiting ( 4****) …watch Wheeler play line tommy Nobis the next yrs when OU invades the Cotton Bowl….or————-was OU just stringing Wheeler along till Texas got serious and offered ??? inquiring minds want to know !!!

    • Jordan Esco says:

I’d say we get it. You’re not happy with the current state of things. It’s an opinion many of us share, but we could probably due without the constant reminders. With all due respect.

      • Gary Jackson says:

Jordan, do you think the reason for Wheeler going to UT has more to do with his parents than anything else?

        • Jordan Esco says:

I would. I mean he became the 5th LB in UT’s class yesterday, while OU obviously has just one and a serious lack of depth at the position already on campus. If you can’t sell a kid on that, you’ve either drastically failed at your job and/or there was just something working against you (i.e. his parents).

All that said, I just want to make it perfectly clear I hold no ill will. Never do when it comes to this kind of stuff. It’s not my decision/life. And I realize you weren’t suggesting otherwise, I just wanted to make it very clear whatever I said above isn’t sour grapes in any way whatsoever. I wish the kid nothing but success except one Saturday every year.

          • RBear says:

Looked fairly obvious from the smiles on his parents faces (assuming that was them standing behind him) that this made them very happy. He however didn’t seem to be 100% on the decision, he wasn’t sure exactly where in that duffel the horn hat was but dad sure was.

          • SamSooner says:

Did he put up the hook’em sign?

          • Gary Jackson says:

Oh, Jordan, I know you hold no ill will. Reason I asked was I was thinking about the tweet JM put out last night saying patience. I wonder if he thinks he might still flip him before NSD.

    • paganpink says:

I’d say you need another team to root for.

      • Zack says:

Well osu has room for more fans they couldnt sell out when they had 45k seats now 60k is a joke for them.
Oh and they’re already projected to be 3rd in the big 12 next year.

  • STL Sooner says:

Wow! The sun did come up today. Another gift to be thankful for!

  • Stephen Dale says:

AntoineStephens is tall enough to bulk up to be an OLB or possibly the Roy Williams position…is he being recruited as a CB or OLB ????

  • Billy says:

I’m not a “conference fan,” or whatever they call themselves. However, the only big 12 team I really wanted to lose was Baylor. The fans I know personally are really annoying, so I was happy about that. Overall, pretty dang disappointed in the conference’s bowl performances.

    • MoJoOkie says:

I don’t think you can get caught up in a conference’s overall bowl record. It’s more (IMO) about certain match-ups and how the better teams fare. Yesterday, espn was bragging (amazingly) about the sec record. But the teams they were bragging about were the arkansas’ and the tennessee’s. Having said that, the Big XII hasn’t done very well, but I agree to your sentiment; Baylor is the only conference team I pulled to lose.

Hoping for a fruitful recruiting day today!!!

    • EasTex says:

      Same here, today and tomorrow.

    • Jordan Esco says:

I’m not trying to be a smartass, but is there someone you’re expecting today other than Gallimore? I mean don’t get me wrong, he’ll be a huge get for OU. But ‘fruitful’ just read to me like multiple guys.

      • RBear says:

Jordan, how many playing/announcing today are seriously considering OU?

        • Jordan Esco says:

Gallimore….that’s it, IMO. Ross never actually made it to Norman. OU has no shot. I’ll be pretty surprised if he doesn’t pick USC today.

          • RBear says:

Yeah, I suspect the same. I heard that espn sends out the invites to the under armor bowl and any real/perceived bias against OU might be seen here by the limited # of kids considering us but who sends out the invites to these other HS all-star games? Seems there would be more kids considering us in these other games if the espn/UA bias was real.

          • Daddy R says:

Bias shmias… Just win baby. lol

      • connie usa says:

        Synonyms for “fruitful”;

productive, constructive, useful, of use, worthwhile, helpful, beneficial, valuable, rewarding, profitable, advantageous, gainful, successful, effective, effectual, well spent

        .

      • kt-raida says:

I’m a meat guy, so one is fruitful to me,but Im all for surprises.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Gallimore is announcing in the 1st qrtr… 2nd player to announce…

  • Ed Cotter says:

An OU fan posted on Facebook this morning that Neville won’t be playing in the game today due to injury. Any confirmation by TFB on this. Still scheduled to make his announcement though.

  • Kelly Gurbcock says:

We need the good news, the wheeler thing stung. LosuR fans are way too happy for being 7-6 btw, sick of them already.

    • Kevin says:

But they beat OU…that counts for about 10 wins in any season.

    • Hotrod33 says:

You mean Halloween university freakin’ won the bowl. Must of scared the doggies before it even started. BTW, I didn’t watch one second of the game either.

      • EasTex says:

I actually watched some as I was getting ready for bed. It required a shot of pepto, though. Saw the final score this morning and laughed that they nearly gave it away.

        • Hotrod33 says:

To bad that they didn’t give it away. They are the luckiest team in the last decade. The only reason they are good is because of t booger. If it wasn’t for him giving money away they would be cellar dwellars still. OU needs to get back to dominance on the field to shut these cowgirls up for awhile.

          • Kelly Gurbcock says:

How are they going to upgrade their facilities in ten years when the corporate raider is gone? I know it’s morbid but honest question.

          • Brent says:

I’m sure there will be a nice trust fund set up for them.

          • Hotrod33 says:

I hope they can’t upgrade their facilities in ten years. I hope they rot to all heck and they have trouble getting funding. They can practice in the pig pens of the ag dept. I could care less. The more down they are the better the universe is.

  • soonerjunky says:

    Jeff Driskel Anyone ?

  • Daddy R says:

So, of course I hope this doesnt happen, but if Gallimore chose some other team today, you think we would get more “PATIENCE” tweets from the coaches? ha!

  • Wilson says:

As long as we see Gallimore and Deberry play for the Crimson and Cream and become college all Americans…I’m good..

  • kt-raida says:

Gibson probably will not see the field for Ohio state.

    • eastoksooner says:

With all the depth there at QB you would think he would go somewhere else.

      • kt-raida says:

Right or that he would be more open to a position switch, But I know Meyer probably said what he hd to,to get the commit and will switch him when he’s on campus.

        • eastoksooner says:

Wish he would come to us. We need him

          • EasTex says:

I was not on his fan wagon.

          • eastoksooner says:

Outside of Murray, do you think we should try to get a QB? We could use another option IMO.

          • EasTex says:

            Try for whom?
We don’t really know what we have beyond TK on the roster.
If we get Murray I believe he starts as a freshman, but I think he does that no matter where he goes.

          • eastoksooner says:

I don’t know of another option to go after. Just wondering what your take on our QB position was. Maybe Mayfield or Hansen will pay off. I think TK’s days are over, not convinced Thomas is the right guy either. I could be wrong.

          • EasTex says:

Have little faith TK will start again.
Having watched Cody and his career in high school I don’t think we have seen the best of him, yet. The first time he got to play it was one of those suddenly in the game moments and no time to think about it, just play. Led the team on a long TD drive.
Mayfield has promise and Hansen has some good hype, few reps.
Signing any QB other than Murray at this point would be wasted effort and a scholly. The QBs they wanted and offered are off the board, but you never know what might happen in the next month.

          • Boom says:

TK really needs to work on his footwork. His throws in the bowl game were the reflection of how he had his body and feet. It was really bad and hard to watch. He cleans that up and he will be a more effective passer.

          • EasTex says:

            He seemed afraid, to me.
There are head issues he has to work on.

          • Boom says:

Oh, no doubt. Again, he had that lost look or scared, however you view it. Mind was swimming with “stuff”. I also know that none of the QBs cared for JH.

          • eastoksooner says:

Cared for in past tense? Is JH going to be gone? Sure hope so.

          • Hotrod33 says:

I wouldn’t count Thomas out at all. He is just a rs frosh and he got to play in what 3 games. You have to give him some more time to develop. Did he look lost in the games, yes. But just to say he isn’t the answer is ridiculous. Should he have been better prepared yes, but give him some time and I think he could do pretty good. (If we have a good qb coach.)

          • eastoksooner says:

We don’t have a good QB coach at the moment. We don’t develop QB’s anymore.

          • Boom says:

Relax, that was said two years ago about the DL. Media made it out that we were horrible and turns out BS was right. We have a bunch of guys who can play.

          • Boom says:

I will hold out for patience on the QB position & current players. Reason, new offensive system w/new coaches.
EasTex, I’m with a pro QB coach once a week and he said, you don’t get accurate over a summer. Said accuracy can be helped but you either have it or you don’t.

          • eastoksooner says:

That’s my concern with Thomas. Didn’t seem accurate in the sample we got to see of him. Can’t teach accuracy, you either have it or you don’t. You can make it some better, but it’s a gift.

          • EasTex says:

Thomas’ accuracy while playing at a high level in high school always impressed me.
What I saw, the rain game doesn’t count, was a young man struggling with his head, trying to be too perfect and lacking confidence.

          • Boom says:

I’ve always said, our QBs look like they have 50 things going through their mind while in an uptempo system and it didn’t help them or the rhythm of the offense.

          • Hotrod33 says:

You could tell his confidence level wasn’t very high and it seemed like he was trying to hard to make the plays needed. He just needs to relax and let his athleticism take over. I bet once he could get comfortable he would do a better job. That’s on the coaches to get him there.

          • EasTex says:

Exactly, turn it loose and have fun.

          • Hotrod33 says:

Sometimes I wonder if we are related, we think the same most of the time. LOL!!!

          • EasTex says:

Most likely shaped by our experiences.

          • Boom says:

There is a lot you can do to help accuracy. However, you can provide all those teachings but it has to come down to their confidence level. All of this plays a huge part in a QB’s success.

          • eastoksooner says:

I agree you can do some things help accuracy, but mostly you have it or you don’t

          • EasTex says:

I would agree with that. I also don’t think you lose accuracy unless injured, but you can lose confidence.

          • Docknoss says:

Look how bad Boykin played for TCU the year before last. Jim Traber wouldn’t shut up before this season started, saying he needed to be replaced. Now look at him, once they started doing the Zone Read. The kids changed for the better, especially in accuracy.

          • Hotrod33 says:

That is preparing him and getting a coach that understands what he has in a player. JH I don’t think he understands that. You have to be very versatile coach to realize who the playmakers are and I don’t think he does.

          • Boom says:

Also, something that is left out is, the coach has to build a relationship with his guys. Again, that is why he won’t be here.

          • EasTex says:

He got pulled late last year and moved back to WR.
Two things happened in the off season, Patterson made offensive changes and Boykin went to a QB guru school all last summer.

          • connie usa says:

Thomas should probably just concentrate on baseball. He has a better chance of making $$$ there.

          • eastoksooner says:

            Agree…

          • Boom says:

I guess you could say the same for Boykin. He’s some WR that just did ok at QB. Hmm, wonder if it was a coaching issue before that pushed him to WR.
Our guys will be fine and have a full spring/summer to build themselves and get excited about a new offense and new coaches. Better vibe will be going on.

          • Brent says:

ha ha…comparing boykin to Thomas. thank you for that one.

          • Boom says:

I’m comparing what confidence and a new scheme will do. They used a scheme which worked with Boykin’s strengths. Do you know Thomas’ strengths? I will assure you, they were not used.

          • Brent says:

I know that accuracy is not one of his strengths.

          • Boom says:

            Based on?

          • Brent says:

            my eyeballs

          • Boom says:

Fair enough. However, there are a lot of issues going on outside of CT which effected all QB play this year. I will leave it at that and see how they do next year with different coaches. If he doesn’t develop, your right but he has time. I’m looking forward to seeing how they all step up next year.

          • Brent says:

I hope you’re right. I am just frustrated by their lack of development.

          • Boom says:

Again, that is why they will be working with someone different. I’m excited about the spring/summer and all the new announcements. I don’t have privy to any of it, just looking forward to Bob’s leadership. I truly feel it will shine.

          • eastoksooner says:

Almost every pass he threw….even wheel routes in the flat were way off…

          • eastoksooner says:

            Yes!!!!!!

          • eastoksooner says:

Boykin=Thomas…sorry you can’t see my eyes rolling

          • Boom says:

I guess you don’t get my analogy. Coaching change = different direction and different type of play.

          • eastoksooner says:

It could I just don’t think it will help his accuracy is all….listen I hope you are correct and I am wrong…I want them all to succeed.

          • Boom says:

Thanks, I agree with you. Sometimes new coaches are like a momentum changer during a game. They can really fire up the team. I truly feel they all have talent but they seemed to play with one hand tied behind their back. I’m excited for them and the competition between them.

        ?

        • Easton says:

Yeah, some sort snub to us maybe. I shouldn’t have said anything. I also think there isn’t much to say about them. I see a new book, not chapter, being opened in the OU football program. The next three months are going to show us whats next.

  • Will Narramore says:

Which of our current commits do you expect to see solid playing time next year? My guess is Mbanasor, DeBerry, Gallimore, Danley, Seibert, Westbrook, and Sunderland

  • Ed Cotter says:

Well crap, UT got another commit in Irvin.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Goes to show you don’t have to win, you just have to have good recruiters.

      • eastoksooner says:

Yep, Texsa was embarrassed by Arky a 6-6 team and it didn’t slow their recruiting down one bit

    • Hotrod33 says:

We’ll see how they do. Remember they might be very good hs players only a few will be stars in college. It will be interesting to see if they do pan out.

OU BBall opens Big XII play against Baylor @ 3 pm on ESPNU. Should be a good one. Conference play is gonna be rough this year.

    • Daddy R says:

Saw an absolutely amazing game at LNC vs Baylor some years ago when Blake was there… 3 OT’s I think!? and we won! Best BBall game I have ever witnessed!

      • Hotrod33 says:

The Tubbs days were fun and exciting. The most memorable game is when we were down like 20 something to GT and in the second half made an amazing run to win the game. It felt like two games in one. First half the crowd was non factor and the second it was rowdy and loud. I was only 13 when that happened.

  • ellisbr says:

I loved M Stoops in his hay day but based off this year, hopefully someone not afraid of Spread Offenses

      • ellisbr says:

I did too, I was also on the M Stoops bandwagon wanting him back. Now…if he stays he needs to be more aggressive but since I don’t see that happening I’m kind of hoping he takes the LSU job.

  • bmrsnr says:

If mike leaves, how does that affect our defensive class? Mbanasor and Haughton?

If I were Bob, I’d put Monty on a full court press for Braxton Miller, and I’d go after Florida’s Jeff Driskel who just got his release from UF. Driskel may not be as great as his 5* HS rating, but we need every QB we can get right now. I don’t think he’d be any worse than Knight or Thomas, probably better.
