OU vs. Tenn. Visitors List (Updated 9/12 11:36 am)

We’ve had a number of requests to put together a list of all those expected to be in Norman when the Sooners and Vols will square off. As most of you know, it’s expected to be one of the busiest recruiting weekends OU’s had in quite some time.

Of course we’ll continue to update this list as needed between now and game day.

2015

* OT Pat Allen
* DE Gabriel Campbell (possible) (UPDATE 9/8: Gabriel hasn’t taken the ACT/SAT which is a requirement for taking official visits so he will not be able to make it but when we spoke to him he still seems very much interested in taking a visit to OU,)
* OT Jamal Danley
* LB Ricky DeBerry
* DE Neville Gallimore
* QB Torrance Gibson (UPDATE 9/8: Torrance Gibson also won’t be able to come since he hasnt taken the ACT/SAT. However again he wants to take a visit after he takes the exam. He told us “I’m still taking the visit to Oklahoma.”)
* S Kahlil Haughton
* DE/OLB Keisean Lucier-South
* LB Cassius Peat
* OT Martinas Rankin
* CB Ykili Ross (UPDATE 9/12: K spoke w/ Ross’ father and they won’t be able to make it this weekend)

* DT DeMikal Harrison (UPDATE 9/10: The Midwest City product expected to be in attendance)
* CB Kendall Sheffield (UPDATE 9/11: Multiple reports, most recently Taylor Hamm of 247, confirming one of the top 2015 CBs in the country also expected in Norman. TFB is also working to confirm just to be 100% sure, but feel confident in the other reports to go ahead and add him to the list.)
* LB Anthony McKee (UPDATE 9/12: After previously being told McKee wouldn’t be in Norman this weekend, he just tweeted saying his flight to Oklahoma was about to take off.)

2016

* DE McTelvin Agim (possible)
* QB Jarrett Guarantano
* LB Caleb Kelly (possible)

I’m sure I missed someone, so if you see any omissions feel free to post them in the comments. As I said, we’ll continue to update this list with additions and/or subtractions for plans that may change. And, of course, if you see anything out there on the interwebs be sure to post it here and we’ll update accordingly.

    Having this many top recruits is somewhat of a gift and a curse, wouldn’t you say? Do you think this large number of recruits in one visit is mostly a positive, in that they’ll see other highly sought-after recruits and feel like they’re in good company, or do you think it will be a negative, in that there won’t be as much one-on-one time for each recruit with the coaches?

    • Jordan Esco says:

      I think elite kids respond to being around other elite kids. But I’m also not, nor have I ever been, an elite recruit 🙂

    • Boom says:

      The recruits look around and see the potential and think, wow, with this talent, we would win a couple of nattys. The atmosphere, talent across the board and then see talent playing. Also, they would get to see what the new improvements, uni’s, and coaches. It would be lightening in a bottle.

    • vargo05 says:

      I see it as a good thing. To add a little different thought I haven’t seen brought up by many – you are gonna have at least 3 commits, possibly 4 with Overton, along with Sunderland who is basically a commit. These guys aren’t going to need the attention that the other guys you are still trying to get will. Also the coaches will probably be making the commits feel important by asking them to help out with the guys that aren’t commits. As a result, they’ll feel engaged with the team and coaches, so the uncommitted guys can get the more direct attention.

      • Eric Hoffpauir says:

        Also, hopefully their enthusiasm will rub off on the other guys and get some of them to commit, too.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

        Excellent point about the coaches asking the committed kids to help out. Kills two birds with one stone, so to speak.

      • Gary Robbins says:

        I heard Overton is waiting till the Baylor game for his official. If so he can be added to the list with Ryan Newsome and Stanley “stormin” Norman.

  • TheDrakeOU says:

    Should add, 2016 DT/DE from Hope, Arkansas, McTelvin Agim as a possible Tennessee visit. He also told me, yesterday, he’s trying to get down to OU/Texas game on an unofficial. Both visits,obviously, would be unofficials.

  • Boom says:

    Wheeler & Rasheem Green I believe.

  • Gary Robbins says:

    Just read that Shea Patterson, a top Pro-style QB from Shreveport. La. will be on a unofficial to OU on Sept. 12th.

    • OUZach says:

      Where did you see that?

      • Gary Robbins says:

        On the 247 Players database/OU insider under his name for OU 2016 offers. Unofficial visit to N. Dame on 9/6, Unofficial visit to OU on 9/12, and unofficial visit to So. Cal. on 10/17.

        • OUZach says:

          Very nice. Wonder if that pushes Guarantano more to committing seeing another elite 2016 QB there.

          • Gary Robbins says:

            That would be very nice. Plus throw in 2015 qb T. Gibson out of Florida on an official visit and you create that wow factor. QB’s from Louisiana, Florida, and New Jersey!!!

          • cpearc00 says:

            Ah, you jinxed it!

  • Gary Robbins says:

    Not here on a visit for Tennessee, but will be at OU on 11-7 on a official visit. Ryan Newsome said that he has 4 teams as his favorites. They are OU, Texas, UCLA, and Tennessee in no order.

  • CcrBoomer says:

    Was wondering if the Cali kid Kahlil McKenzie that verbal-ed to the Vols was still coming. I knew early in the summer he was listed as coming to the game and i figured it was a long shot to flip him since his father played at Tenn also.

  • OUZach says:

    Have you heard yet if Caleb Kelly is for sure coming? Would be huge to get him on campus for the second time.

  • Super K says:

    Updated!

    • Brian says:

      How have high school seniors not taken their ACT yet??? Especially knowing that would prohibit them going on official visits…Did someone not tell them this?

      • Super K says:

        A lot of folks don’t know unfortunately. Both Gabriel and Torrance have good grades so my guess is they figured they’re eligibility would never be in question so it probably didn’t seem pressing.

      • Stats says:

        And you have to schedule these ahead of time. You can’t just go in this Saturday morning and take it. If they don’t already have a test date scheduled, it may be awhile (half a season) before they are eligible for official visits, which will really narrow down their options for choice games.

        • Lesslie Stanford says:

          I believe they have tests once a month from August to December then one in the fall and one in the summer or something like that.

      • Eric Hoffpauir says:

        That’s really strange. I thought Gibson had already taken an official visit to Tennessee.

  • Tyler says:

    See any names that could pull the trigger this weekend?

  • Brian says:

    Sounds like the Waribokos might be taking unofficials to OU this weekend…

    • Super K says:

      Max will be. Josh might end up going to UCLA vs. Texas down in Dallas…that’s what I’m hearing at the moment.

      • Scott says:

        Interesting, Josh has been to OU plenty of times, so with UCLA coming into town it may be easier for him to just let them know he doesn’t want to go there …. hopefully

      • Brian says:

        Should we add Max to the list then?

  • OUZach says:

    So if Shae Patterson is indeed coming we will have atleast four 2016 QBs on campus. Hopefully one pulls the trigger.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

    Any chance DeBerry commits this weekend?

    Great group of visitors. Hopefully they all get enough face time to be happy, and OU can put on a show Saturday night. I imagine the fans will be rowdy, which should only work to impress these kids too.

    • Jordan Esco says:

      Pretty unlikely, IMO. Of those expected to be in town, I don’t think there are really more than three max (maybe four) who would even realistically consider committing on the spot this weekend.

      • OUZach says:

        Who would those be? Danley, Sunderland?

        • Zack says:

          Rankin and Danley would be most likely. Sunderland is already committed as far as many are concerned. Haughton may if ou really leads (I think tech made up a lot of ground). Gallimore and peat would be others more likely to commit before deberry.

        • Zack says:

          Well after thinking about it. Here is the scenario I could see him or KLS committing since they are probably the 2 highest touted. Is if they come here and believe ou is where they want to be and they want to do what many recruits do which is pull the trigger somewhat early and help recruit others for that school. I can’t think of the DT that tamu has committed but he’s been working a lot of recruits as has Khalil Mckenzie. So if that scenario were to happen I think it would be awesome.

          • vargo05 says:

            Daylon Mack is the guy for TAMU. He was wavering a bit at one point, but seems to be very solid again. KLS may see what OU can do to use him that other schools can’t because of scheme and realize he’s found his place. He’s really increased his interest and a big weekend could do it.

        • Jordan Esco says:

          IMO – Danley, Guarantano, Sunderland & Haughton. But, again, I won’t be surprised if they come out of the weekend w/ zero commits. Now what happens in the coming day or days may be different. But as for commits on the spot, I’m not necessarily planning on any.

          • Steve Cooke says:

            Unless things have changed Sunderland is not supposed to announce till his all star game.

          • Jordan Esco says:

            I know that’s the plan, but it could really happen at any time and I wouldn’t be surprised. I don’t expect it to happen this weekend, was more just saying he was a possibility, albeit a small one.

          • Gary Robbins says:

            Kind of off the wall but is any of the TFB crew going? Most of these athletes coming will be playing on Thursday or Friday night. Maybe the late start on Saturday is helping to get these kids into town. I also hope for a commitment but also OU needs a solid win and to really show these kids the red carpet. It will be a large crowd and very loud!

          • Jordan Esco says:

            I’m going. Believe K also has plans to be there as well.

          • ToatsMcGoats says:

            Since the curse was broken at South Bend last season, we will allow this…

          • Jordan Esco says:

            appreciated

          • Steve Cooke says:

            I hear ya, recruiting is a really fickle thing with high school kids.

          • Jordan Esco says:

            It is indeed.

          • Zack says:

            Don’t you think Sunderland is already committed? It sure seems like ou would have to fall off the face of the earth for him not to go there.

          • Jordan Esco says:

            I think there’s a reason ppl are so confident

  • soonerborn says:

    Amonte Caban committed to Louisville

  • HoustonChiver says:

    I’m hoping DeBerry pulls the trigger after this weekend! Same with Reid

    • Super K says:

      between those two I’d say Reid is far more likely

      • cpearc00 says:

        Quick question, I just watched HUDL film on Patterson and Guarantano and both are extremely impressive. If you had your pick right now, who would you choose? Who do we have the best chance landing? My guess is Guarantano.

        • Super K says:

          I’ll send their film to our nfl guy. He’d be better at evaluating qbs. Def not my area of strength

        • Zack says:

          Both are very good guarantano would be the higher priority I would think being 6’4 and just as athletic. Both are very accurate for just starting their junior seasons.

      • HoustonChiver says:

        Oh I wholeheartedly agree with you, something deep down just feels like this campus visit plus being around the elite recruits plus the epic matchup might make enough of an impression on DeBerry

      • Stephen says:

        Don’t tease me like that, K! Reid is one of my favorite recruits right now.

  • Scott says:

    Great list

  • outsider says:

    I dont understand why someone wanting to attend college hasnt taken an ACT or SAT test. That just seems irresponsible to me. If you take yourself serious, then I would imagine you would have your ducks all in a row, and be prepared.

    • Brent says:

      Totally agree but nowadays with multiple summer camps and unofficial visits throughout the summer, some recruits probably haven’t had the time to study and/or take the tests.

      • outsider says:

        Im sure they have been busy, but you still cant get into a university, no matter how many camps you attend if you dont do what it takes to be accepted into a university. How will these w ill these young men be attending ANY universities on an official visit without these test scores? Something just seems off too me personally, and I question their character without knowing them I might add.

  • 38Special says:

    My son is a 2018 WR. He’ll be there. Sitting with me. It will be his 45th OU game or so. Just thought you all should know.

  • Jordan Esco says:

    Per K, two guys not expected in Norman this weekend are 2015 OU offers Bo Wallace & Anthony McKee.

  • Gary Robbins says:

    From an unofficial count (includes officials,unofficials,-for 2015,2016,2017, kids) we are around 25-30. The total account seems to change like the weather in Oklahoma.

  • Zack says:

    Some guy is on am 1400 with jh saying Gibson has taken the act/sat and can take officials.

  • Indy_sooner says:

    Lol @ Krugs jumping in on the action. Cannot blame the man. Holy crap with the 2017 recruits!

  • Big Higg says:

    Good lord what a list

  • Guest says:

    Saw on twitter that Kendall Sheffield is coming in.

    • Jordan Esco says:

      Just added him officially to the list. Which, by the way, is getting pretty ridiculous.

      • Boom says:

        Let’s just say the Army AA secondary with PJ, Ross, & Sheffield along with the safeties. We need to call this recruiting weekend – ALL STAR WEEKEND.

  • BigJoeBrown says:

    This is just incredible…Just to think how well OU recruiting has taken off and the hard work they have done/

  • Jordan Esco says:

    Jamal Danley just reportedly set up a Florida official visit. So if he’s planning official visits following this weekend, I’m losing confidence in the possibility of him potentially committing this weekend.

    • Jordan Esco says:

      Now reading a Rivals interview w/ him and it sounds like it could still happen. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

      • Boom says:

        Thanks for the heads up. Also heard that Jacobs was coming and then he was told to hold off till another weekend.

  • Zack says:

    SS has a good teaser for mbanasor. I really want to know who he will be recruiting while here but my guess is everyone.

    • cpearc00 says:

      Was wondering the same thing…

    • Gary Robbins says:

      What an impressive list already and adding Sheffield-goodness. Just for drill I tried to get a top 3 from the list of uncommitted athletes for 2015 and 2016 that OU must get. It was impossible for me to narrow it down.

      • Zack says:

        It may be hard to even get that down to a top 10. But for you I’m surprised the top 3 isn’t KLS, jefferson and deberry. I know you want to come away from this recruiting class feeling confident in the linebackers and kish.

    • Jordan Esco says:

      Only mentions one player by name whose name may or may not rhyme w/ Shameel Gotten

  • Zack says:

    FYI guarantano on espnu right now.

  • Sooner Ray says:

    We may need another box of ink pens, someone make sure the printer has paper!

  • bjwalker82 says:

    This is crazy

  • Caine Johnson says:

    Did I see that Will Sunderland has committed
