    Wilson was awesome!
So do okielite cheerleaders moonlight as security guards?

  • kt-raida says:

Took our director of player personal huh? Well you still have to develop that talent longhorns. Historically you’ve gotten “better” recruits we develop better.

  • Zack says:

Question for the braniacs. Wariboko has been a topic this last week I saw he’s getting a visit from Florida. Let’s say a big program like Florida lsu or ohio state offers his brother, at that point if you’re the ou coaches would you offer max also or just say it’s not worth it until he they see more development?

    • SoonerPhins says:

I don’t think it would be worth it. I doubt the OU coaches would offer 2 to get 1 anyways, look at Foreman twins last year. Just my opinion that they shouldn’t offer max just to get Josh.

      • soonerbred4ever says:

I wouldn’t think Stoops would ever allow the tail to wag the dog. Not his style, thankfully.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

Not an apples to apples comparison. OU has no trouble recruiting WR’s and RB’s (the Foremans), but oline has been an issue. That said, we’ve done really well at OG in recent years, and we should be fine at OG this year, even without Wariboko. If he was an OT though, I’d offer his mother a scholarship. 🙂

    • JY says:

No doubt Josh is a good player, but I don’t think you go after someone else if someone threatens to leave if you don’t. It’s a power play by Josh, and Stoops has a history of calling bluffs. I say go after another really good guard. Continue to recruit Josh, and see what happens.

      • Zack says:

I’ve seen where Barnett is projected to be a guard in college is that the general consensus or could he play RT in college?

      • soonermusic says:

If a kid views himself as one who can and should be making “power plays” while still in high school, I might worry about the issues that will arise once he gets to college. Part of maintaining a successful program is judging the baggage and attitude along with the talent. As we have seen, talent by itself usually isn’t enough.

  • Indy_sooner says:

I’m interested to see who we go after. Stoops has had home run hires thus far and with the talent we’ve brought in since cleaning shop we’ll do OK. I think folks are underrating this position

  • Jeff Frederick Jr. says:

Great stuff as usual, TFB. Love this site! Quick question: Has there been any recent news on Orlando Brown and his status with OU? Sorry if I missed any updates. Thanks guys!

    • Jordan Esco says:

Still just working to get qualified. Probably won’t know anything for sure until May(ish) or possible even into this summer.

  • Jordan Esco says:

I’m kinda thinking K needs to apply for that OU job!

    • SoonerPhins says:

Going to need some one to replace the soon to be All American Munnicutt

      • pitbull17 says:

It would be nice to have a guy who can regularly kick one out of the back of end zone on KO’s. he seems to have a good leg all around.

    • Gary Robbins says:

Speaking of offers, OU still has ot offers out to Richmond, Burrell, Pellage, Dyer, James, Roberts, Sutherland, Brown and Ivey plus og offers out to Barnett, Hearne, and still Wariboko We still have 9 months left till national signing date plus the junior college ranks. The cupboard isn’t bare yet. I would like to see a grand slam type hire for our director of player personnel.

    I live in Georgetown, TX….interesting

  • BoomerNation says:

Noooooo, the sky is falling! Duvonta Lampkin decommited

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Sugar momentum in full effect… Another decommit…

  • James D-Space says:

Word is that DL Lampkin decommits…. Can someone please explain what the heck is going on with the recruits? SMH

    • Zack says:

Something has to be going on maybe with their change in recruiting style is turning people off. Maybe these kids don’t want to hear how good the program has been since WWII. Or even how good it’s been for 15 years but it’s concerning how much has gone against ou in recruiting after the 2nd biggest win in stoops career.

      • Gary Robbins says:

I agree. Seems like the bad news started with Weathersby to Texas, Ronald Jones to Ok. State, Humphrey to Baylor, Stidham and Fehoko to Tex. Tech, ( I know they are just commits). Then we lose 2 big time commits in one week. Can all this be the fault of Case Reed- I doubt it. Or could it be like you said it’s Stoops hollering entitlement ? As I end most of my posts lately get some commits.

        • Zack says:

Well I’m curious if whoever it is in the program that was linked to giving bad reviews on players that left ou early ie stills, Jefferson, and Stephenson. I wonder if that’s all getting thrown at players by opposing schools. Because there was definitely a lot of hurt feelings when Damien got kicked off the team.

  • Sooner Ray says:

The bag men are out in full force!

    • Gary Robbins says:

Something else must be going on. You just don’t keep losing long time commits and recruiting coordinators at the rate OU is. Everyone says it’s OK but the negative recruiting offered towards OU by our competition is starting to take a toll. This is my 1st year at following recruiting (been an OU fan since ’71). It’s kind of like we still have 3 commits and who will be next. I know you feel they were not OU good but the real reason is still out there. Now we need a commit – don’t want to wait till February.

      • Zack says:

I guess this is the disadvantage of kids committing early to places but it will all work out for us as long as we get 25 kids who want to play for ou we’ll be fine.

        • Gary Robbins says:

OU has had 40% of their committed athletes de-commit in the past week. Is that a common occurrence for football this time of the year? Is this the end of our bad streak or is there another bomb about to go off? I can’t even remember the date of our last commit. Just wait our commits are coming. I hope I can make it till February, my wife keeps telling me that patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait.

          • Zack says:

I think it happens from time to time. Someone made a good point that texas can kinda offer kids early playing time. And on defense tamu can too with as bad as they’ve been. And I think some school or schools have to be putting out bad ou vibes. Jamille Johnson was the last to commit and from what I heard initially is he wasn’t a strong commit so it’s possible we may hear another guy decommit before we get god need. But I think Overton and Evans are solid.

          • Gary Robbins says:

Yes, I heard that about Johnson and OU was Overton’s dream school but he would have liked to visit the Alabama’s, etc or so I heard
, but his and Evans commit seem to be real solid. I guess the thing that bothers me the most is that something has happened and us peons will never know.

          • Zack says:

Something’s going on but when ou goes to the final 4 playoff thing and tamu texas Baylor tech osu are at home watching like most of the recruits they will want to be a part of real success not fancy uniforms and swag copters.

          • Zack says:

They’re not dragging their feet. They offered another DT from Canada.

      • rphdenton says:

……if you’re a relative newbie to recruiting, it’s good to remember that no one is committed ’til they sign on nsd, no matter what they say

        • Gary Robbins says:

First year I’ve paid any attention to it was always working or busy raising 4 kids. I was raised that a persons word was his bond- I guess that applies to most everything but recruiting. Wife says I need to un-retire is that like a de-commit? I will still be around come February and hope to be able to say things happened for a reason!!!

          • Zack says:

You’re right but these are kids with a ton of attention getting thrown at them so I guess it’s a different kind of animal.

      • Stephen says:

To throw salt in the wound, Alabama has 2 five-star recruits and 10 four-star recruits. What are the odds that they de-commit?

    • Gary Robbins says:

This is driving me to drinking. Wife said I didn’t have far to go-about 50 feet to the fridge! In all seriousness do you feel that OU will get a commit in the next couple of months?

      • Sooner Ray says:

Gary, we all would like for every 4 or 5 star kid in the nation to line up at our door but that just isn’t reality. OU has always been a late performer where recruiting is concerned. They evaluate and assess their situation before going all in on a kid. We always get what we need in the end so for now, I’m just going to sit back and enjoy my beer in the off season. Just remember that these kids backing off right now haven’t even started their Sr. year of HS, they will change their minds about a lot of things over the next year. OU has never been in the habit of offering kids this early so it’s a new game and other programs may be promising the moon where OU is just being honest with them. A dominating season and some serious ass whipping on our rivals will go a long way towards our ’15 and beyond recruiting. Let’s be happy about the kick ass class we have showing up this summer and worry about these youngsters after the upcoming season is over. Have a drink on me bud, Bobby will pay for it! HAHA.

  • James D-Space says:

Whatever the reason (s), has recruiting going the wrong direction. To me, this is just more about kids committing too early and then having regrets after the thrill has lost it’s punch.
