OU & Michigan Set Home-And-Home Series For 2025-2026

Continuing in the tradition that Joe Castiglione, Bob Stoops, and everyone in charge of the OU football program established, the Sooners have once again added a marquee opponent to their future non-conference schedule. Monday afternoon the school announced a home-and-home series with the Michigan Wolverines that will take place in 2025 (in Norman) and 2026 (in Ann Arbor).

Castiglione’s comments on the news via Sooner Sports:

“We remain committed to playing games that celebrate the history and excitement of college football,” said OU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. “We’re grateful for head coach Bob Stoops, who shares that commitment. Oklahoma and Michigan represent two of the most iconic names in American sport and we look forward to a series that will be marked by mutual respect and admiration. We also know how truly special these opportunities are for student-athletes, as well as our fans and college football fans everywhere. I want to express my appreciation to Michigan Athletics Director Dave Brandon, who shares our philosophy.

“Over a span of many, many years, we have emphasized the importance of a strength-of-schedule strategy. The new College Football Playoff format underscores that philosophy, as well. A well-balanced schedule creates the proper challenges for our program and prepares us in our pursuit of championships.”

Other future OU non-conference opponents include Ohio State, UCLA, Army, and Nebraska.

I am elated by this news. I’m in Michigan and to me, there is no more delusional fan base. You’d think these chumps are perennial championship contenders.

Love it! I wish OU and Arkansas would schedule a home and home. I live in eastern Oklahoma and find it funny how obsessed Razorback fans are with the Sooners.

Arkansas has run from Oklahoma for decades. The only time Arkansas would EVER agree to play OU in football is when forced to by bowl games. I live here in Fayetteville, and I can substantiate your opinion that they are indeed “obsessed” with the Sooners. We never play them, yet they hate us worse than they hate Texas, whom they had a long standing rivalry with.

We also offered to play a home and home with them back when A&M and TCU switched conferences because we both had OOC games to fill our schedule with. Castiglione offered, and Long politely declined.

Cant wait to see these two programs on the field. One of the coolest things I have ever seen was the Sooners take the field at Notre Dame for the first time in my life. The colors, the traditions, the sights and sounds… should be special for sure!

Yeah that ND game was a “bucket list” game, as will going to see my Sooners play in the “Big House”……….if I’m even still alive at that time.

Love these big time match ups for the publicity but damn, wonder what the two teams will look like when it goes down.

I can’t believe the Army game is still so far out! Looking forward to a trip to West Point. I love the idea of tOSU in a couple years, then I’ll get excited for Michigan…but y’all know me. I ❤️ A good road trip, just hoping to more hospital visits during them!

I too am looking forward to the Army game. I went to Colorado Springs when OU played the Air Force Academy, and it was an absolutely awesome environment. It’s hard to cheer against the USA, but I managed to do it for a few hours. Can’t wait to see West Point.

Me too! I just really hate that it’s still so far out! Looking forward to Tennessee next year. I have been b4 but it was a meaningless game, maybe miss st? Anyway, yes, the AFA was wonderful! So scenic, and really hard to root against that program…

  • Super Keith says:

Absolutely love the fact that Castiglione continues to set up marquee OOC games! I’ve wanted to see this match-up for a long time, and now I’ll have a reason to travel to the Big House.

Wish I had a hot tub time machine!

I love it when games like these are added & Army is an interesting choice. If we ever add Navy though, I won’t know what to do. Since we’re a Marine family I’d be miserable the whole game. Can’t root against my Sooners OR the Midshipmen.
