DaiShon Neal Note (Update 8:02 pm)

Image via scout.com

We haven’t confirmed this through Neal yet but we have heard through a source that DaiShon Neal may actually announce tonight and will decide between OU and Nebraska. Just wanted to open another post because a) the comments section in the open post is busting at the seams and b) in case he does announce, we can just update the site on this post.

If he doesn’t announce, my apologies in advance but I did want to mention that there is at least the real possibility that it may go down tonight.

UPDATE (8:02 pm): Just wanted to give y’all a heads up, I’m being told that the Neal decision may come tonight or tomorrow. Again, no confirmation from Neal  himself but my sources believe the decision is coming very soon, as in tomorrow at the latest. I’ll keep checking.

    Hope it goes our way.

  • Super K says:

Before his visit to Nebraska this weekend I was certain it was going to be OU…now…it’s anyone’s guess.

    • Boom says:

Be good to have a 6’7 body on the end to knock down those quick slants

      • Super K says:

Have you seen how Jake Pickard developed into his senior year? Amazing! He ended up picking up an offer from Michigan.

        • Boom says:

I know, i liked how quick he was. Also, I loved Griffin too. I was with you back in March with Pickard and Campbell/Gallimore. We need long 4’s to tip the quick passes.

        • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

I remember y’alls write up on Pickard and hoped OU would get involved at some point. Still think he’ll be a great player in college

        • Chris White says:

And I hope you guys continue to have those Oklahoma Kid spotlights in the offseason. Heritage Hall won state and they have a lot of good players!

        • BloodRed says:

Have not seen his film but knowing Harbaugh he’ll get the kid playing like he’s all Big 10 in a couple of years….

    • Stephen Dale says:

thinking Nebraska if he announces tonight. Oregon if he visits next week………..

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

And who do you follow? This is an OU site right? If you are going to make an argument than make an argument. Don’t make inane assertions without at least attempting to justify them. C’mon on man.

  • kt-raida says:

    Cmon with the Boom!!!!

  • KJ1123 says:

Daishon and Van tonight (fingers crossed)

  • Cole says:

Might as well list him as linebacker.

  • Will Narramore says:

With his length do you think there is any chance they move Daishon to an OLB to rush the passer? Seems like his frame is kinda similiar to Obo but I may be wrong

    • Boom says:

Obo is only 6’1 or 2 whereas Neal is 6’7. Neal can move and it would be great if he could move like Obo with his long frame and his weight in a year or two.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

In my view, moving Geno G last year was a mistake. He should of played DE.

  • SoonerRich8 says:

Is he still currently committed to Nebraska or did he de-committ recently?

  • Zack says:

I’m taking a nap. Seems to work for bringing on good news while I’m out

  • Easton says:

    Thanks a million K.

  • Boomer15 says:

If it’s coming down tonight…fresh off his Neb visit and prior to Bob’s in home…not liking the spot OU is in imo.

    • blaster1371 says:

B Stoops hosted Neal’s family last weekend. I wouldnt read too much into the in home visit being later. JM was there a few days back. May be that after visiting Nebraska again it just confirmed OU would be a better place for him.

    • Hotrod33 says:

You would think that if he was still committed to Neb then he would just go ahead and say I’m going to stick with my commitment. I’m thinking he is going to flip if he announces tonight or this week.

  • Stephen says:

So if we get Neal, we’ll have two DE measuring 6’7 in this class, which is kind of crazy.

  • SoonerfanTU says:

    DT: Gallimore and maybe Overton/Lampkin/Daniels
DE: Campbell, Mann, and maybe Neal

    Pretty solid DL class.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

Been fishing all day and just got home. Trying to catch up. So Neal and Jefferson could announce tonight? Any news on McGuinnes or Smith?

  • j l says:

    plz plz plz.

  • blaster1371 says:

Tired of waiting ……. Going to the gym.

  • Hooknladder says:

Other sites are reporting Neal may visit Michigan. Also, the rumor that Van J. committed to Ole Miss is false, but it may not look good for the home team as reported on other sites.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

You know what I just don’t get is the Michigan interest. Yes, Harbaugh is a proven winner in the league. But Bob Stoops has many D linemen in the league, more than Harbaugh produced at Stanford. McCoy, Alexander, David King, McGee etc…

      • Mizuno44 says:

That’s right, and B Stoops wears khakis better than Harbaugh!

      • BloodRed says:

That may be true but Harbaugh has an “aura” like Switzer, Carroll, etc…do
Stoops has that ‘aw schuks” Spurrier persona..Which one would you want to play for…? And I know U love the Sooners so you will likely answer with rose-colored glasses….sadly….

        • ToatsMcGoats says:

Kids love “new”. Harbaugh has proven himself in the league, and he’s had some success in college football. I’m a niners fan, so I like Harbaugh, but I also know that, in the end, the players started to turn on him as well. We’ll see how it turns out at Michigan, but if I’m a kid, I have to take into account the many stops that Harbaugh’s had and wonder if this is going to last.

Stoops, on the other hand, that guy is a fixture.

          • BloodRed says:

Seriously all the great coaches who overstayed there welcomes ended badly. U should only Stay at a University 10 years. If u are struggling those last years then 2 more makes 12 and that should be enough 2 cement your legacy..Stoops has been here too long my friend…I’m saying this in heavy heart but he should have left after 2008…

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

While Harbaugh is a fine coach, has never finished. Stoops is what 1-0 head to head. He doesn’t have an aura close to Switzer. Maybe Carroll, but Pete has gotten the best of him and got him fired.

          • BloodRed says:

Matters not, it only matters what is in the mind of an 17-18 yr.old kid! Plain & simple…We they talk about coaches & Aura you don’t see kids revere stoops like they do ‘others’… Look it up not me saying this, I took a direct quote from those espn recruit commentators who asked these kids over the years at all star games….

          • BloodRed says:

They played w/o Luck in that game and still put up points. Luck starting that game sadly would have been another bowl loss for Stoops & Co.

      • BloodRed says:

Yeah hunt I feel if Neal makes that trip out to Ann Arbor…I think he’ll be of the mindset of falling in love with the last place he sees. Here hoping he does not make the trip but & even though I am a “true Sooner” to the core…given the climate that is around the program, lazy fans, uninspiring admin, I’d have to say I’d think real hard at choosing Michigan…They’d have to impress the hell outta me though….

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Lazy fans? Were you at the return from beating Bama?

          • BloodRed says:

So much more goes into “fandom” than just supporting a team after a big win my friend…Honestly can U say that there is just a maniacal fan base here? They sit on their hands looking elitist because there family has had those seats for 20-30 yrs. They feel entitled without putting in the work, just like some of our coaches and likely some of our team…

  • Mizuno44 says:

Can’t wait to buy everyone some virtual brew and party until the wee hour of 10:00 pm!

  • Scott Hamilton says:

    Boomer !!!

  • Easton says:

    Thank you ^.

  • BleedCrimson says:

    Thanks K

  • ccmosaic says:

Please, please give us a Boom.

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

Van Jefferson tweeted he committed to Ole Miss

    • Easton says:

      There it is.

    • Easton says:

He wasn’t a glimmer in our radar until very recently, it is okay.

      • Lincoln Hawk says:

Agreed. Wonder if we go harder after Hughes or AD Miller….

        • Easton says:

I have a thought that Riley has a guy, or two, he is planning on committing. Somebody’s coming with Riley. My hunch.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Yea I think he was recruiting Hughes at East Carolina. It would possibly help if these recruits knew who their WR coach was going to be, I know I would want to know.

          • Easton says:

I agree. I think Bob would have a guy hired by now if he could. Theres got to be a story behind the length of time it is taking to sign the coach.

  • BloodRed says:

    Is Anyone watching the game?

  • Barry Duren says:

    ⚡️Van Jefferson⚡️ ‏@Vj2kAllDay 2m2 minutes ago

I have officially committed to The University of Mississippi. I want to thank my family, friends, and God through this process. #HottyToddy

  • BloodRed says:

I learned about this game myself by playing it, learning it by watching great teams play it. Watching the great teachers of the game teach it….U can learn a serious amount if U just Open Your Eyes….

  • BloodRed says:

    Welp….

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Well his dad can just stay in the NFL with that attitude. 🙂

  • KJ1123 says:

Stings for OU…but Im sure it REALLY stings for Georgia.

  • blaster1371 says:

Jefferson to Ole Miss. That blows. Hope Riley has a few other prospects in the wings.

  • Barry Duren says:

Neal just announced that OU has been eliminated.

    • blaster1371 says:

WTH is going on? “No thanks OU, I would rather go to a school that has never been to a BCS bowl or won a conference title before the Vietnam War.”

      • Zack says:

        What does that even mean?

        • blaster1371 says:

The allure of ole miss. What success have they had in the last 40 years to hang their hat on?

          • boomersooner says:

they are very successful at the hiring of bagmen. campus is nice and sorority row has tons of pretty girls. other than that, i got crickets

      • JD says:

Are you talking about Nebraska..cause I’m pretty sure they’ve won a few titles…I assume you mean Van and Old Miss but you replied to a Neal statement

        • blaster1371 says:

NO I am not talking about Nebraska.. I know they have been to a BCS bowl, got raped by Oregon. I was talking about Ole miss. I shuldhave paid better attention to where i placed my comment.

  • kt-raida says:

OU missing all over the place, but guess what OU will be alright!!

  • KJ1123 says:

    Sigh…tough night for recruiting

  • Mr. Jones says:

Rough night for OU. We really need some type of momentum.

  • Carl Carter says:

Being Sooner fans… We are damn good sports and will get through this together

  • JD says:

Monty has some explaining to do

  • KJ1123 says:

Leiato off the board too…committed to Oregon

  • JD says:

We’re sheetin in high cotton tonight!

  • Chris White says:

It’s okay, my sources say this decision from Van Jefferson was agreed upon within his family because his dad Shawn is taking the WR job here

  • NewMex Gaucho says:

Kish probably texted them a picture of his new transition glasses right before their decisions
